141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can we help beginners not to get addicted on: May 05, 2024, 09:55:14 AM
Playing excessively often leads to an addictive behavior which one cannot avoid because if we become addicted to something then it becomes very difficult for us to leave therefore gambling should be thought of as a hobby but should not alter this hobby into addiction.
Anything that will be considered hobby can be easily addictive, infact there is a close line between hobby and addiction and this line is the major problems with gamblers as they do not try to differentiate the two from each other hence leading them into serious addiction.

If you ever want to gamble and not get addicted to you then you have to start learning to take a break in gambling, not only when you lose that you have to take a break but also when you feel like it's not too important for you to gamble. Some time ago I gambled regular with out season or time but I discovered that it's becoming a very habit to gamble so I took a break and after some time I went back again hence I don't feel the urge to gamble as before. This self-control is a big initiative to know in the line or addiction and hobby.

Do you think casinos can stop demanding KYC?
No! I do not think so and I can't even imagine casinos not requesting KYC because it's more like a standard now.

The government introduced them to it or should I say force them into it and now they are fascinated by KYC, as criminals can easily be phished out through their identities in thr casinos. Money laundering is a most effective reason for it so since they have to keep protecting their interest in order keep operating.
143  Economy / Economics / Re: Ever dreamt of turning your passion into profit? on: May 05, 2024, 09:00:57 AM
Turning a hobby into a business sounds so fun! But I bet it has its challenges too.  What did you do for fun that you managed to monetize? I wanna hear all about how you went from hobbyist to entrepreneur!

Tell me, what struggles popped up as you worked to turn your passion into a profit? How did you push past them? Got any pro tips you can share to help other hobby lovers try to make it big? I love hearing stories of folks who bet on themselves and won.

I'm a good exam of this for real! It's funny how I used my hobby to as a means of earning (monetized my hobby). I loved to be creative and I usually snap any thing I see, I take pictures of almost every thing and some time ago my elder sister started asking me to take her pictures with my mobile phone, I was good at it as it was my hobbycraft, people saw this pictures how good it was and started begging me to snap them and they will pay for it, i never accepted because i was doing it for work but a hobby but when i saw that was a means to make money I switched to monetizing it, although it became hard as my intention was all about the money and nothing else mattered anymore. I struggled to even get a camera but it wasn't possible so I borrowed anytime I got opportunity or I was hired for the job.

I'm even hoping to get one of my own soon, although I'm now getting mature to handle things back then I was a kid.
144  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make you no leave very small Satoshi, for wallet during bear run. on: May 05, 2024, 08:46:14 AM
E get one big thing wey you dey forget, if you get $10 worth of BTC today and bitcoin drop till your $10 turn to $0.0 that amount of BTC wey you buy still dey the wallet, let's say na 0.00016 as of today price this your 0.00016 BTC go remain this number e no go ever change but the price in dollar don drop to zero. So if bitcoin still rise after many years wey you get I'm for that wallet you go see say your money still dey or e go even planty pass the normal na one big thing wey plenty people never understand about bitcoin.

As long as say you get your wallet phrase secured just keep that small thing wey you get hodl to any time of your life as long as say you fit do without that money. Just keep hodling one day you go see the benefit, for that your own na because you still need the money na why U thing say e dey very necessary to remove every dime from your wallet.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason why you shouldn't force someone to invest in bitcoin. on: May 05, 2024, 08:24:29 AM
The reason why you shouldn't force someone to invest in bitcoin?
The concept of bitcoin is freedom! If you ever want to force someone around it, it deviates the concept of bitcoin so in a common sense it's not a forceful deal. One major reason why we shouldn't force anyone to invest in bitcoin is that whatever happens as a result of the investment the blame will be on you and that can be a very bad effect in your reputation. Some people may not know what you're doing for them hence will spread rumours about you that can affect your trust in one way or the other.

Did you think is good to force someone to invest in bitcoin?
It's a NO for me. It's not good even though you want to help but force is not an option.
What is the disadvantage of forcing someone to invest in bitcoin?
I think it's in my first response.
Bad reputation
Lost of trust
Unhappy state of mind
Etc

Did you really think the person is ready to bare the risk that is involve?
If the person is ready to take the consequences on him or her self it wouldn't be classified as force anymore.

What are your opinions towards this particular topic?
Perhaps it's not bad but poor in composition and additionally in one way or the other I have discussed this topic here in the forum.
146  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: What define you is how you spend on: May 05, 2024, 06:49:00 AM
With the current economic crisis the aim at some point for everyone is to satisfy our belly and at the same time making reserves for the future which is unknown to us. In as much as we are trying to feed ourselves with our earnings or profit from the crypto (bitcoin) investment it's very necessary to know and manage our spending habits as it's part of what changes a man's story.

Let's take a realistic example of while it's very good to know how to spend your money. Let's say I have been saving regularly from profit and I take care of the necessary things of life that as a young person has to take care of, there are occasions where you have enough resources in your reserved funds and some one might bring up and opportunity for you to acquire a life changing property but because you have been spending wisely you can acquire such property without stress or even being planned so it's more like a preparation for any given opportunity.

The consequences of not spending properly is always comes at the end. The most common scenario that has made a lot of people broke or kept them broke is the power of impression. When you try to impress people with you hard earn money you tend to find out that you over spend and at the end you only destroy yourself while the people you seemed to be impressing remains the same because they do not care about how you but only what you provide so once you go broke you then learn the hard way. Conclusively, the manner which spend will determine how far we would go in life.
147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Role of Proof of Reserves in Crypto Exchange Transparency on: May 05, 2024, 06:35:40 AM
No matter how an exchange tries to prove their trustworthy it doesn't guarantee any safety. The proof of reserve has also been done by those exchanges that went bankrupt but what will happen will still happen. They claim to get hacked and funds of customers are lost to them. At the end they will only used a percent of the reserved funds to compensate it's customers whom are aggressive whereas the compensation amount is usually very poor to the invested funds.

An independent audit doesn't add any thing to the exchange, it's one of the popular tricks to get Customers on their side. The independent audit is never going to be an independent audit it's only to our view but maybe also part of the crew. What we all know is that their is no convincing fact other than for one to be self custodian of his or her wallet.
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can people still get the addictive nature through friendly games on: May 04, 2024, 11:35:20 PM

One of the mistake he made was not acknowledging the fact that gamble is a game of luck and you cannot be always lucky to make wins.

If a gambler doesn't acknowledge luck in gambling then he would like to keep trying after losing and that is what has happened in Op story, he feels that giving out more try will guarantee him winning but it doesn't matter how many times you tried, if you are to win then you will and if not, despite how long you try it will remain hard luck. So not to regret losing, it will be better to play as you can lose and not to persist for another chance for a time of winning.
One thing we must know is that a lot of people out there still don't agree to the fact that gambling is based on luck, I have seen literally several guys who claims they know how to gamble and that their occupation. Making others too believe they can work on themselves to become gambling experts, where has caused a lot of confusion is where a well known gambler becomes so rich and famous for his gambling luck which he calls skills whereas no matter the skill lossing is certain.

The earlier people begin to realize that's not supposed to be something worked too hard on but a lucky game the better it will be, as persistence doesn't matter in gamble rather it would even cause more losses.
149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 04, 2024, 09:13:48 PM
Manchester City continues the game without making any mistakes. They scored 5 goals against their opponent and showed once again how serious they were for the championship. Even though penalties had an effect, Haaland's 4 goals were a very good performance. He scored as many goals in just one match as many teams score in a few weeks Cheesy they already played very superiorly against their opponents in the match
I'm not a very good fan of Manchester city but today's match was a very big one to me as I saw Haaland score 4 goals. From the over view it should that Manchester City is far above the wolves with no doubt they did too well, they had 20 shots and 12 on target which is absolutely amazing while wolves had only 2 shots and 1 on target. From possession to passes Manchester city topped the opponents. Where I knew the opponents where very down was when they had up to 5 fouls I knew the pressure was way too high for the opponents. Anyways today was in the favour of Manchester city.
150  Economy / Economics / Re: Take care of your money and learn to save. on: May 04, 2024, 08:57:22 PM
There are some prerequisites that can safe people from financial crisis but most time people do not value this or really care about this things as they are more focused on the impression they want to make in people's life which is absolutely going to end up in not being too good. There is what people call emergency funds, it's most times neglected by most people because it has to reduce the extravagant lifestyle which is more preferable than saving to a lot of people.

I learnt some lessons that one must do what is right for themselves and not for any one. If you want to make in life you must forsake the over exaggerated lifestyle or pleasure and focus on building yourself financially which will surely attract people to you in future but people like us do want instant people to come around us once we begin to make money and at that point we try to impress them as a result over spend.

In as much as investment is important we most also know that keep ourselves healthy by getting the necessary things in life is very important. No matter the pressure we face at some point we should always make it compulsory to impress ourselves than others as we all have an individual race and not a general race.
151  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin can end poverty? In a nation today on: May 04, 2024, 08:37:35 PM
Exactly. Even giving people free Bitcoin doesn’t mean they’ll come out of poverty. Because there’s a difference between wealth and riches. When you give someone Bitcoin they are just rich. It’s the same as giving them money anyway, because they’ll rush right away to spend it on their various needs, etc. the government needs to apply different strategies to eliminate poverty, and on that list, there won’t be Bitcoin.
What you say is very true, of course, to be able to eradicate poverty, of course the government must think of effective ways that can solve the problem of poverty in society, but for some people who already understand how to invest in Bitcoin, of course this will be a little helpful for those who have invested in Bitcoin, because we can see from the current development of Bitcoin that its price continues to increase and anyone who can invest will of course be able to make them more financially stable in their future.
It's truly that government is responsible for the eradication poverty in a nation to an extent where they have to provide the requirements of the state for effective productivity. But it's an individual responsibility for one to be financially free.

There is a very big misconception about bitcoin, bitcoin is a freedom currency as it's decentralised in nature which means it's not controlled by any government as the fiat of a country but where a lot of people get it all wrong is were they believe that bitcoin is financial freedom in a perspective that after having bitcoin you're probably not going to need work but bitcoin will keep raising and making them rich whereas bitcoin is an alternative money which means you have to work hard to earn it or exchange it for your earned fiat.

So for bitcoin to be the speculated financial freedom one must investment in it, so it's not an a national problem for bitcoin to solve rather it's a personal financial freedom race not a nation financial freedom race.
152  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Most P2P occured on WhatsApp, Telegram and everywhere on the streets on: May 04, 2024, 02:36:53 PM
Crypto: Peer-to-peer trading is worth $500bn in Nigeria – Cryptocurrency expert

The CEO of one of NoOnes who was the former CEO of Paxful, Ray Youssef said so. That crypto trading in Nigeria is 10x more than what is reported which are on centralized exchanges. That most crypto trading takes place on WhatsApp, Telegram, coffee shops and everywhere on the streets.

Speaking on the astronomical P2P transactions on Friday, the NoOnes boss asserted, “Peer-to-peer is probably like a half a trillion dollar business inside Nigeria alone. That’s the truth. Officially, cryptocurrency volume in Nigeria is at $59 billion a year, and that’s just all the official volume of everything that is happening on centralised exchanges that can be tracked on the blockchain. Yeah, let’s say $59bn to $60bn.

That’s a joke; the real volume is ten times more than that. That’s peer-to-peer, and that’s not just volume that has happened.” Youssef added that most of the P2P transactions do not happen on Binance or any other platform but on WhatsApp, Telegram, coffee shops and everywhere on the streets.

I did not know this exchange, NoOnes until now. I only know him as the former Paxful CEO. Is this a way to market his exchange or he is telling the truth?

I know some people in my street that do not know how to trade on Binance. All they need is a bitcoin wallet and a vendor which they can meet on social media or on the street.
Let's say his correct to an extent because I have seen people trade on the streets with at least a witness which serves as the escrow and I have also seen P2P transactions on WhatsApp and other social medias but for the fact that he said half a trillion it's now more like a bait to catch attention.

How possible could that be? The people doing P2P on the street are more of a certain class in society as they do not want the government eyes on them but I don't think it's up to such an over exaggerated amount of 500bn naira. The NoOnes are not far from promotion as they wants some attention to be on them and if eventually they succeed with that it will be classified as reputation hence attract more customers.

One thing I know is that there is money in this country and a lot of efforts are being put to regulate the flow of the funds but yet it belongs to the same calibers of people making the deteriorated decisions.
153  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: FX CRISIS: Opay, palmpay other fin tech barned from registering new customers on: May 04, 2024, 01:22:03 PM
Omo this Naija crypto and forex crisis nor be small thing oo government just de close ways way people fit take de do crypto and forex transaction. On top say the matter no sharp e de kindof painful as many Naija people de way dis crypto and forex of a thing na their main source of money. And as dis matter de sup so e go come make am de difficult for them to de make money.

I First de hear d recent warning way all the micro finance de give like de palmpay, opay and kuda. But as of today when I take open my opay the thing break my heart to see say government Dem don still warn our mobile banking apps about crypto and forex trade.
U still dey surprise for the wey government dey use the country and it's citizens dey play? U shouldn't be na abi you dey aware of the similar decision made by the formal government? It's just a political way of moving the blame or problem from it's initial place to another place inorder to convince the international or the masses that they are trying.

If it's banning they will ban whatever that crosses their path as long as they have to protect their selfish interest. Unfortunately crypto and Forex happens to be an international battle for the governments so the master mind behind all this things dey very brilliant and versatile with all the crypto and Forex matters wey dey happen internationally so him just captive on the same issues to cover up the cause of inflation which is obviously mismanagement of funds and improper allocation of funds.

Have you seen the new loan scheme that the Federal government has approved for over 200bn naira to be spent for whatsoever the call it. Brother I will tell you that it's another strategy to bankrupt the economy the more then using that as an excuse to say they feed the poor masses.

At the end even if they ban everything in the crypto or Forex space we Nigerian youths will still find a solution to it. It's not the first time nor will it be the last time as the country isn't heading any way forward.

156  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best explorer for Bitcoin on: May 04, 2024, 08:40:52 AM
Here is a list of bitcoin block explorers by @GazetaBitcoin, you can chose from the list one that fit best to what you're looking for (features) in the explorers.

List of useful Bitcoin block explorers

Mempool.space is also a good one. But then it depends on what "features" you're looking for. If it's just to see the amount, transaction hash, and the addresses involved in a transaction then I really don't see what difference would changing the explorer make.
Some times people get tired of using one service all the time. Maybe OP just needs to toy around with other block explorers because personally I don't see much difference as long as I can see the TX hash and other important things.
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: After Joining as a beginner what keeps you going on this forum? on: May 04, 2024, 08:29:20 AM
Good day my colleagues here on this crypto space.
As a beginner or first timer on a forum like this it's not Always easy to keep up actively with the activities of the forum, we all can attest to that, we can also attest to the fact that at a point we felt like giving up, most times the activities of the day gets you exhausted that you won't even have time to handle your phone to either read, do research or make post especially at the beginning stage when the merits is not coming,
But what keeps us going?,  To me I have figured out somethings that keeps me going. They include.

1. Hunger for crypto knowledge:   it takes only determination and the Hunger to be knowledgeable to get a user so active on this crypto space, because every minute you don't come online to see what's happening on the forum it will look like you are missing something, and u will be restless untill you come online.

2. Looking at the bigger picture:  if you are interested in growing on this space then that should be an extra motivation to you to keep putting in the hardwork and looking at the future.

For me this are the two stand out motivations that keeps me going.
Please our experienced members you can add what motivated you to keep pushing, so we the newbies can be motivated too.
It's through that the forum or the crypto space in general some times seems boring but when you have a lay down goal there is absolutely nothing that you will keep you off track and that's just how most of us have survived here in the forum. We all have some that brought us here which is understandable because almost all seeks the same thing but it's left for you individually to find what you want and set a target for it.

Personally what has kept me going is when I make a post and I see people with a title Legendary, that's a motivation for me in this forum because I don't like settling for less, perhaps I always want to reach for the highest and I'm on my way to that and the only way to achieve that is keeping up with the forum every day as knowledge that will keep in such position are shared every time and if I'm not here I will miss them so I keep learning from this wise members if the forum.

What I'm saying in essence is you have your own you goal of being here all you gat to do is set a target to get them in any way you can. It's a personal race, motivation will only get you going but hard work will get you growing.

For me this are the two stand out motivations that keeps me going.
Please our experienced and members you can add what motivated you to keep pushing, so we the newbies can be motivated too.
Why you forgot the privilege and incentivized part? For sure anyone or majority also aim for this. Honestly many are seeking the number 1 you mentioned but the privileged we can achieved too like joining campaign or signature also at play. We cant deny that fact that majority of newbies aims for that. I was too, when I am on that level but its just a bonus I think.
I can't also deny the fact that I always wanted to join the signature campaigns but not in this level tho but we gat to start somewhere and it's now a helping hand to me as a student I can no do somethings without parents. Infact the signature campaigns is one thing I truly enjoy here but the fact that most people deny it is ridiculous because it's obvious.

@OP if you are also look forward to that you can too but don't get yourself worked up for signature campaigns as you might not enjoy them when the time comes.
158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Risk management is very essential during this post-halving season on: May 04, 2024, 08:07:05 AM
As long as the halving is concerned all I see and here in the forum is don't be deceived to sell, hold tight and don't let go, manage risk etc.

But perhaps there are more really issues that one should learn about especially newbies like me, this is my first time seeing the 4 years circle hence I need for experience people to really discuss what happens and what has happened before now in the crypto space but all I see is my fellow newbies advising from a general knowledge. Well it's also go at least they've got more experience than I have, but all I can say about the post halving is it doesn't mean anything to me, whether it's halving or halving is over and we expect bitcoin to reach another ATH from now the next year October I don't really care because what I have in mind before purchasing the little I have now is for a longer time than a 4 years circle and I believe it's going to surely be profitable even while it not time for my harvest.

Additionally, @tranthidung I appreciate the links you shared I'm making use of them already and perhaps that's exactly what I expected from more people than merely vague talks.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No risk no gain on: May 04, 2024, 01:20:54 AM
Perhaps regrets only means you now know the difference, you have learnt your lesson then hard way which means you lost a clear opportunity which your were aware of but was too afraid to take a bold step instead waited for your brother to take the step before you do.

Investment you don't seek validation from anyone except your risk management. All you have to do is take risk when you are convinced of doing something do it will you your heart, assuming you took the step alone by buying with the amount you had you would have been in a lot of profit far from what you expected. I believe it's because you have low knowledge of bitcoin which made you feel reluctant in investing but now you have learnt it's time to make things right you still can buy now and from this you will always make us of opportunities.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accumulating Bitcoin or trading Bitcoin which is more wise to do. on: May 04, 2024, 01:02:36 AM
First the title or topic seems more like a question but the content itself says other wise. Perhaps you have concluded already that holding is wise enough than trading but perhaps you might be wrong or right because it's quite an individual thing. You can be comfortable trading crypto and someone else will be comfortable holding. The both are likely to make profit the difference is one is taking more risk than the other and believe me the higher the risk the higher the chance of more profit is.

We can not decide for anyone hence neither trading nor holding for a long term is the best as long as it's not just one person that's in the contest. Everyone has their own pockets and risk management.

Similarly, the most common here is holding which makes you more comfortable even with the volatility of the market. Accumulating bitcoin is mostly the best choice for everyone because of the opportunities that it gives and losses are minimized to the fullest as long as you hold your a prone to profit. All that is most required for profit making is how long one is patient enough to hold the longer you hold especially bitcoin the more profit you will make so holding has always been the choice of the people here and I'm not excluded.

Finally, what I'm saying in essence is if you can trade and make profit don't let our own contributions or perceptions and ideas towards trading influence you to do less you have to goal to reach and none of us will reach that goal for you so if you think you can trade go for it but if not you better stick with accumulation(Hodling)
