141  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cartier jewelry heir arrested for laundering drug money with USDT on: May 11, 2024, 03:36:02 PM
Well, you understand the meaning of this article. The main enemy is USDT!
Money whether decentralized or centralized could be used by criminals to engage in illegal activities. But I get your point, the government usually showcases stablecoins as a currency that reduces criminal transactions.

It was a stupid thing for them to launder USDT, they're basically just using a digital dollar with that one. No wonder that their money laundering scheme was foiled, the only saving grace was those shell companies and the lie about running a software and tech company. Mighty stupid of these people to do this heinous scheme, this is the very reason why the innocent people get caught in the crossfire of the authority's battle against money laundering, now we can't enjoy crypto more than ever before because of these evil people doing this thing. Good thing that they've got arrested though, it's high time that the rich would feel the hammer of justice.
Shell companies are usually used to avoid tax and hide wealth. These criminals assume that using these companies and USDT will complicate the process of tracking the criminal transactions. I just wonder what an heir to a billion-dollar company will still be engaging in criminal activities. This is proof that greedy people are never contended.
142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Price is Down Today? on: May 11, 2024, 02:53:14 PM
Bitcoin's recent price decline can be attributed to a combination of economic uncertainty, regulatory concerns, and market sentiment. Factors such as inflation fears, cautious remarks from Federal Reserve officials, and regulatory uncertainties have led to a sell-off in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Market sentiment and investor behavior also play a significant role in driving price fluctuations. Despite short-term volatility, long-term fundamentals, including adoption and institutional interest, remain bullish for Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market.
Do you think these are the reasons?
The market can be down due to various reasons but if there is any specific reason then in that case a big crash is seen in the market. But the market is still in a good enough position.  A major crash is yet to be seen here so I consider such market movements to be normal so far. Bitcoin or other crypto coins are not stable and their price is not bound to go up, so there is no need to panic. Bitcoin is a powerful crypto coin and I see no reason to fear it
Volatility is the nature of cryptocurrencies. The fall in the price of Bitcoin is not new this move is highly expected. It is predicted that the price will drop before the main bull run will start in earnest. Only traders are concerned about the short-term decline in price, hodlers don't care about this trend. Most times the reason for this volatility is economic or financial policies or sentiment in the US. If there are predictions of increased interest rates, unfavorable regulatory policies, or inflation in the US, the Bitcoin market usually responds negatively to it. And the reason is that there is usually an increase in selloffs due to FUD.

And if you think $60k is a low price, then let me tell you it can drop huge, the last time it hit the ATH went up to $64k and then it went down all the way for the next two years until it hit the lowest value of $14k, so, $60k isn't low, it still pretty high, i wouldn't even recommend buying now because the crash is inevitable.
Although it is risky, people can still buy at this price because Bitcoin will still reach a new ATH after the halving. It is expected that a few months after the halving the price will still appreciate. Any risk taker can still buy and keep till the end of the year or early next year.
143  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Nearly All FTX Creditors Will Get 118% of Their Funds Back in Cash on: May 10, 2024, 05:49:18 PM
To be honest, it doesn't matter whether they'd add interest to the refund. What matters is that they give the whole refund and everything that's added is a bonus for the trouble that they've caused. What the victims need is assurance that they're going to get their money back no matter what and since it's already in the court, the next thing is hopefully that the refund process won't take long so that the victims will get their money back because it is rightful theirs and they deserve to have it again.
The good thing is that the company has agreed to refund affected customers. These FTX investors are fortunate because many victims of the fall of centralised crypto service providers didn't get their money back. According to reports they are just waiting for the court order for them to start the process of implementation. I also hope they get back their money because many people had plans for it, and most of these plans were abandoned due to bankruptcy. It took many years for Mt Gox victims to get back their funds, I am just hoping that it will take less time for these refunds to happen.
144  Other / Meta / Re: Change username on: May 10, 2024, 05:40:07 PM
Hi all,
Just wanted to know if it'd be possible to change the username?
Best!

Some members have successfully changed their usernames. Most of the names that were changed were high-ranking members. I assume that they gave a genuine reason for the change of name request and in most cases, it is associated with maintaining privacy. You have made about 84 posts, that's big and you have earned some merit, so it might not be easy to abandon the account. It will be better to create a new account but if you are really desperate to change your user name you can send PM to moderators and keep waiting for their response. There is no time prediction for their response, you will have to wait.
145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: May 10, 2024, 03:19:35 PM
It is crystal clear that Arteta has done so well for the Gunners, getting them to this very position and form they are now, many will say he deserves to be the main man to be awarded as the manager of this season but it should be given to the Aston Villa coach Unai Emery because he did what nobody expected and I know many won't say the award should be given to him but lets see it this way, a manager who only spent just 2 seasons with the The Villans and he qualified them for the Conference League even though they were knocked out last night, you'd agree with me that they did their best and in the EPL they are also doing well with them sitting on the 4th position on the table, with how they have been performing I think they might be in the champion league next season while clubs like Manchester UTD and Chelsea won't be in that competition. I think Unai Emery deserves the award more than any other manager that have been nominated including Arteta, after all Arsenal will win the EPL title.

Jurgen Klopp would have been my candidate but the recent loss of form by Liverpool which made them lose the race for the EPL title and the unfortunate knockout from the Europa League. With a relatively low budget when compared with clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City Kloop had managed to build a competitive team. He has won the Carabao Cup despite the injuries of the majority of his key players. Unai Emery has turned the fortunes of Aston Villa and might likely lead them to the UCL which is an uncommon feat. He has achieved this success without top-class players. But if Arsenal manages to win the EPL title Mikel Arteta will automatically become the best coach. The young coach has achieved more than what his age mates are doing in the coaching field.
146  Economy / Economics / Re: Feeling McTroubled? on: May 10, 2024, 02:45:15 PM
Have you looked at the menu recently?  Bitcoin fixes this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OasCaT2qTA

I tracked this inflation from Twitter/X by simply searching for the keyword "Mcdouble costs". Having the data fed straight from primary sources is a much more revealing truth than any "official" graph the government puts out.
The government wants to always portray itself as a perfect entity. They want the public to believe that they are performing well whereas they are going through a lot of problems. Social media could be a good source of data because you will have an honest report since the people are responsible directly.

Sometimes I will be surprised by the economic data published by our government because they do not reflect the current economic conditions suffered by the people. They will come up with employment data that shows that more jobs have been created meanwhile businesses are closing down due to inflation. It Is also necessary to state that the best means of gathering data is through systematic research and not through random social media responses.
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Resell from KYC on: May 10, 2024, 11:35:37 AM

What does it mean for me?
What does it mean for my friend?

Thank you for answer
Your friend wants to buy Bitcoin from an exchange and will transfer the funds to your hardware wallet. Now you want him to give you the $700 cash so that you can buy through physical P2P because you want him to avoid tax. It will depend on the tax and crypto laws of your country if the move is legal or illegal. However, it is commendable to look for means to avoid taxes as much as you are not breaking any law. You can save a good amount by avoiding taxes.  If your your friend can give you cash and you have a genuine means of buying Bitcoin you can just avoid these exchanges. Buying through traditional P2P means also promotes privacy since there will be no KYC. The bottom line of your situation is that both you and your friend will avoid taxes and save money.
148  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Nearly All FTX Creditors Will Get 118% of Their Funds Back in Cash on: May 09, 2024, 04:11:15 PM
If they have 16 billions in cash, and this is from sold coins probably at a profit of over 200% if not 300%, that would still mean FTX had close to 5 billion in coins when it went bankrupt so how did they end bankrupt with that amount of coins? 118% in cash probably $ is well below 100% in coins, I think a bit over half of that but I am surprised at the amounts recovered, wasn't FTX supposed to not have a single penny left and this is why it went down?

This is good news and I commend the management of FTX led by CEO John Jay Ray III. He and his management team have been able to manage the estate effectively which will make depositors recover their funds with interest. I think the recent price increase in the crypto space also contributed to the high revenue the firm has made. Most customers lost the opportunity to make more money but they should be pleased that they will get back their money. It took many years for Mt. Gox victims to get back their funds, so there is an improvement in the recovery and disbursement system. I hope that Delaware bankruptcy court will approve this arrangement.
149  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to be wealthy you need action on: May 09, 2024, 03:51:39 PM
You need to take action and learn from the mistakes
Knowledge come only from experince.
Knowledge doesn't just come only through experience, you can gain it through learning. How would you prefer to make mistakes when you can learn from other people's experiences? You cannot underestimate the benefits of learning from books and experienced people. It would be unwise to venture into a business or career without doing in-depth research about such an endeavour. It is good to start and make mistakes as you engage in the activity but you can reduce mistakes by learning from others through books, tutorials and other mediums.

Index investing and DCA is the best that the majority of people can do to become more wealthy. But this only works if you have big enough income
These are your views. There are other viable means of making money besides the mediums you have listed. DCA works perfectly with people who are also low-income earners. All you should do is keep some funds aside weekly or monthly based on your capacity.

150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You sing A Journal, Spreadsheets Will Fave The Way For Addiction To Gambling on: May 09, 2024, 03:30:02 PM
Does anyone here have their own journal or spreadsheets, and are you taking gambling seriously?
I know a friend who is good at keeping records of his gambling endeavors and he would always determine if he has made a profit or loss at the end of the year. He is not a gambling addict but he sees gambling as a serious business. I don't have any history of recording my gambling activities and I don't have any intention to keep such document. I gamble with what I would have spent on biscuits or junk, so the money is insignificant. I just think that it is unnecessary to have such records since what I spend is just little to keep a record. Keeping records will be also time-consuming and I don't think I have such time to spare. But I think that people who keep records about an activity, take it seriously.
151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the main points of gambling? on: May 09, 2024, 03:04:23 PM
Gambling thus requires three elements to be present: consideration
(an amount wagered), risk (chance), and a prize.

I noticed that people now don't actually know their main points of them gambling, some people gamble to earn daily and some people just gamble cause they saw their friends won in gambling. That's how they develop their gambling lifestyle and from their they get addicted to it. I've over heard people complaining about them losses, for me I think they don't know the main points of gambling. What do you think about this people losses much? Does it mean they don't know the main points of gambling?
I don't think any mature individual wouldn't have a reason for gambling. Young adults might be influenced to gamble by friends but they become addicts for a reason. They might either be chasing money or having fun. I don't understand your explanation about people losing much in gambling. Losing much in gambling to me simply means gambling more than you can afford to lose.

The main point of gambling is having fun. If you are gambling for money, stop gambling because gambling will take from you than you will win from gambling.

As part of your point, I see only one to be valid which is consideration (an amount wagered). I call it gambling budget. 1 to 5% of weekly income. 1% of weekly income is the best.
People gamble for mainly two reasons, fun and money. If your aim is for fun, that's perfect because you will never be addicted. If it is for the combined purpose of fun and money, it's also nice. But if it is solely for money, you might chase losses or gamble more than you can afford to lose. I gamble for the fun and money but I follow my gambling budget strictly.

153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What I experienced since the past two days now on: May 09, 2024, 02:38:08 PM
Now I sat back and think about a few arguments we had in the past, remember when the forum stop supporting mixers? It was in that period, he was so supportive of mixers like it is a must but I kept saying that I have no reasons to use mixers, I could have been suspicious of him then but I trusted him.

Many people are going to hate me for this but I don't blame the law for going after mixers and privacy featured wallets in crypto space, if you believe that you are clean it is only to yourself, the other users might not, you really can't tell who to trust or not.
When few criminals use a service, it doesn't make such a service bad. I am not a criminal but I am a full supporter of Bitcoin mixing services. I don't want anybody including the government to monitor or know about my financial transactions. Is privacy now a criminal offence? Why didn't the government close banks that engaged in money laundering?

Quote
Many people are criminals in disguise and they are ruining bitcoin name by scamming people using Bitcoin as if it is a safe pass to scam people for free and get away with it, so no wonder that the government hates Mixers and privacy in this space, who is to be blame if not for our people who are criminals in disguise?

Not all Bitcoin investors are real investors, some are just hiding and pretending to be Bitcoin real investors, even if they are close to you, it doesn't mean they are clean, many good people want privacy and mixers to prevail but I wonder how when bad people are taking advantage of these features to steal from others.
The highest amount of scams in my country is through fiat. The Bitcoin space is not the only area that has scammers. Scams and other criminal activities are prevalent in almost all sectors of the world. Has the use of guns for criminal activities made the government stop gun possession? The government's responsibility is to increase enlightenment programmes about cybersecurity to help people avoid scams.
154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it proper for younger ones to gamble? on: May 08, 2024, 07:29:37 PM
Because nowadays the younger ones take gambling more seriously then school. Yesterday i got back home early so I decided to step out and go to a betting shop to catch some fun while gambling, I saw two teenagers gambling with their school uniforms on them.

I asked someone besides me why did they allow this boy's to come in with their uniforms and gamble, he said did they put any restrictions that younger ones are not allowed to gamble. I said but it's not normal, I replied him what if this are your kids would you be happy seeing them gambling with their uniforms on them. So what do you guys think about this situation at hand now.
In my country, the legal gambling age is eighteen and above. At this age, most children have graduated from secondary school, except for a few exceptions. So it is very rare to see students on uniforms in any physical casino. I have been in many betting shops where underaged children who wanted to gamble were sent back and some of them were reported to their parents and school authorities. They don't allow underaged gamblers in their casinos because the operators of the casinos can be fined or persecuted by regulatory authorities .

But some casinos are so interested in profit-making that they can accept anybody to use their gambling platform. I will report any physical casino that encourages underage gambling because they are endangering the future of these inexperienced children.
155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fraudulent e mail on: May 08, 2024, 07:15:36 PM
Hello this is my 1st post here. I am fairly new to BTC and have dabbled a little and have an account with Coinbase. I made a small amount of profit and it is held in cash in my coinbase account ATM. This morning I received an e mail from Coinbase telling me I had to immediately move it into an online wallet and gave a link. It all looked v legit until I looked at the e mail address - events@byhealthmeans.com needless to say I won't be transferring the funds but has anyone else had such an e mail from this address before? It was far more professional than other phishing e mails I have had.
A close look at the email will show that it is a scam. The easy means of checking how authentic the email is is to visit the Coinbase website and I think the email is well spelled out in the platform. This email looks like a hospital or a service provider contact. You can also check the validity of such emails by contacting the customer care of the exchange.

I have also fallen victim of this and sometimes, I just warn my friends to be careful not to click any verification emails that they might receive claiming to verify their Coinbase account. In my case, I do not have a Coinbase account so it was clear that these scammers were trying to open Coinbase accounts using the email addresses of other people.
The bull run is also a period of increase in scams and fraud. I usually tell people that it is good to invest but it is more important to know how to keep it safe. We should always verify any information we see online before believing them.
156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: May 08, 2024, 07:02:39 PM
Borussia reaching the final of the Champions League is a bit of a surprise. In the first semi-final they played great. In the second match Borussia were lucky, PSG hit the bar twice and at the end of the second match, they hit the crossbar twice. But I can't say that Dortmund reached the final undeservedly. Still, Borussia were very lucky in the second game, will they be as lucky in the final?
Agreed Borussia Dortmund was just very lucky to be in the finals. Even in the first leg semi-final match, PSG also hit the post twice. This is another indication that football wins can also be determined by luck. PSG strikers were also wasteful upfront because they missed a whole lot of chances. Dortmund will definitely be the underdog in the finals because Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the better sides. Before now I was supporting PSG since they have never lifted the trophy. Since it didn't turn out as planned,  I have shifted my support to Borussia Dortmund because they have just won the Champions League trophy once. Today's game will be the finals before the main finals because the two teams involved play quality and entertaining football.

But it's not secret anymore the base central blockchains will be well known blockchains for new CBDC in otherwords crypto and stablecoins holders will reap the biggest benefits of the global economical movements trading and transactions i think we gona have ultimate winner of new digital USD the circle USDC and xrp Will be more out of USA.
I don't know how you got the information that stablecoin holders will benefit more from the world economy. Stablecoin coins are just altcoins that are backed up by mainly fiat currency. The only way stablecoins will be profitable is when the value of the fit currency appreciates.

I am yet to see any country that successfully implemented the CBDC. They usually lose momentum after about six months of launch and the die out. It's difficult for the CBDC to work because people know that they will no different from the paper currency.
This was exactly what happened in my country. When the government saw that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies were becoming popular in my country. They made laws to restrict its operations and to turn people away from cryptocurrencies they introduced CBDC. There was enough publicity to promote the use of this centralized coin. However, the people were not attracted to the CBDC because they knew that it was fiat currency that was recorded in the blockchain.

Even though Juventus had tried to give their full strength to face several of the opponents they faced, the facts on the field were that Juventus missed all the opportunities available and only ended up in third place on the standings with a draw in four consecutive matches. There are still five matches left, they must continue to draw again and don't choose to lose because that will eliminate the opportunity to get a point on the standings.
The remaining matches for the Juventus team this season are only three more, not five. And with the remaining matches, of course Juventus must be able to continue to get points so that they can be in the top three positions until the end of this season, because Bologna themselves are always ready to take that position if Juventus is no longer consistent in getting points in the remaining matches this season. Even though Bologna's position is not completely safe, Atalanta is also very ready to pursue that position because they still have more games left to play in the remainder of this season.
It will be better if Juventus can at least win one of their remaining matches to seal up their champion league qualification next season, because I am not cool with the draws, however it is better to share points than lose all three points. Juventus position is at threat only if Bologna starts performing poorly like them Juventus that is when they can finish at third position. Atalanta still have two outstanding matches, that if they win they will be on the 5th position which is a threat.
If they continue with this inconsistent performance Juventus might eventually miss the champion slot. They have drawn four games at a roll which had made their position shaky. Draws are better than wins but it will be better to lose two games and win two than to draw four. This is because drawing four games will to four points while winning two and losing two will fetch six points. Atalanta is in 57 points so even if they win both outstanding matches, they will just get to 63 points which is below Juventus's 60 points. Atalanta might have to settle for Europa, they will only make it to the UCL if the four top teams drop points while they keep winning.
