141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the fuzz all about? are ICO's/STO's any different? on: February 25, 2019, 11:20:52 AM
At this moment, the word STO is, in essence, a marketing term more than anything else. There are going to be many projects that will use the word STO just to appear more legitimate or to avoid using the word ICO.
142  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the effect of adding a bitcoin currency symbol to iOS? on: February 23, 2019, 03:22:47 PM
The interesting thing about this announcement is that if Google has done this is because they have seen a growing interest in Bitcoin and they expect the number of Bitcoin users grows significantly in the future.
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance DEX is decentralized or not? BNB token will go up or down? on: February 23, 2019, 11:08:56 AM
One more thing is that you do not trade tokens at Binance DEX, but trade b-tokens, at the rate of 1 b token to 1 real token. In order to exchange your b-tokens for regular tokens, you need to come to CEX in any way. This is all done in order to increase the rate of bnb.

Does this apply to all tokens or only to BNB tokens? Is people really required to go through Binance CEX before and after using their DEX? In any case, and based on the information provided in this thread, I would say that their DEX will be just a non-custodial exchange.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: About New MEW Interface Apps and The Old Ethereum Wallets! on: February 22, 2019, 11:49:16 AM
This is not that easy. I have about 150 different tokens in my ETH wallet. It is not so easy, really! I can't send all of it. Maybe only worthy ones.

Don't you have the private key of your wallet? Do you have only the seed? Maybe if you can install the older version of the mobile app again or if you can find a way to access your wallet you can export the private key. Maybe the MEW team can help to get the older version of the mobile app just for you to be able to recover your wallet.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins are the new money, is this true? on: February 22, 2019, 10:32:42 AM
I disagree. First, we don't know how many of these stablecoins are really backed by fiat money and not by promises. Second, these coins are, in any case, backed by companies or corporations, what happens if these companies disappear?
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to ICO if....... on: February 22, 2019, 09:40:39 AM
In that scenario there would be absolutely no ICO or STO that could reach their goal. Right now it's very hard for any ICO to reach it since there is almost no one interested in ICOs anymore but if what you are saying happens, there will be impossible.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to send all ETH tokens at once? on: February 21, 2019, 03:53:34 PM
Your question led me another question to ask for the visitors. Instead of opening a new topic for that I will ask it here.

How do we send ETH to multiple users? I am not talking about one after another. In Electrum we have send to many options like this does Ether have the same function?

Cheers :-)

Yes, it's possible to do that and, in fact, is something that some ICOs do. The way to do that is through a smart contract in which you introduce the receivers addresses and the amounts you are going to send. I don't know if you can do this through MEW or another wallet as well.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Somebody paid $310,000 in transaction fee to send 0.1eth on: February 21, 2019, 10:03:58 AM
The amount of 2100 ethereum had been traced to the pool it was sent to.
Spark pool stated they will send it back to the one who comes forward to claim it.
Which I doubt they will track this individual down so they would need to contact them.
If it isnt claimed in an allotted amount of time they will just distribute it among the miners who helped the day the block was mined.

They don't need to wait until anyone claims those ETH, they can simply send them to the same address from which they were sent, they don't need to do anything else.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your general sentiment on soft-caps for ICO's? on: February 21, 2019, 09:30:18 AM
The soft cap is the real goal of any ICO, it's the amount they need to launch their project, it's the money they really need. In any case, you could question the hard caps, especially those that are too high.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Successful ICO With No Buyback Mechanism on: February 20, 2019, 04:45:48 PM
There are some ICO projects that promise that once their project is running, they will use part of their profits to buy tokens from the market. However, what you are proposing will not happen. If ICO teams had to freeze their funds to buy back all the tokens they could not develop their projects and these would be a failure before the start. The only way ICO teams can avoid their tokens from dumping is not distributing the tokens or locking them until the market changes.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Basic Attention Token on: February 20, 2019, 12:13:48 PM
Its operation is easy to understand, but there is a doubt:

when will they activate the Ads?

Can you undermine this token easily?

Do you think this TOKEN is a good future?

I don't know much about this project but if they are promoting it through coinbase, I guess they are going to launch their key features soon. Anyway, as far as I know, it's still not possible to withdraw earned tokens, and I don't think there will be many people interested in this project until this is possible.
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Somebody paid $310,000 in transaction fee to send 0.1eth on: February 20, 2019, 10:15:36 AM
It`s not everything like it looks like. I`m reading some people blogs, they done their homework. This is not the first time,
same happened several times before with same address. It`s some miner probably doing something, there are few scenarios,
nobody is 100% sure what is happening.
I don`t believe that someone paid so much for transaction. It`s very hard to happen to someone who have that much
Ethereums, how he can be so stupid.

The amount is too high to be a mistake, it's not about adding one or two zeros by mistake. The miner theory is plausible, the question is why a miner would do that taking the risk of another miner taking the transaction and those fees.
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Iconic bitcoin symbol in apple ios keyboard. Crypto adoption rally? on: February 20, 2019, 09:47:48 AM
These little things, although many people may think they are not a big deal, can help to spread bitcoin awareness. There are people who know nothing about bitcoin and when they see that new symbol they will be curious about it, so they will want to know what it is and, that way, they will know about bitcoin.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee on JPMorgan on: February 19, 2019, 02:14:08 PM
where do you see JPM Coin in the future?

Nowhere outside the bank's environment. The only merit this coin will get is the fact that it will be the first of many. Each bank will create their own internal coin and maybe later they will create one common coin to interact with each others.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Constantinople Hard Fork Is Nearing on: February 19, 2019, 12:22:10 PM
Such a number of exchanges are ready to provide support to ethereum, this clearly means that even if a bad situation occurs, they will all try to soften it!

All exchanges and services will do, it's logical, they don't have another option either. I mean, this is not a fork in which someone is going to create a new coin and they have to decide which one will support, this is just an upgrade and we are talking about Ethereum, not an unknown coin. I guess they will disable deposits and withdrawals before and after the fork, until everything is safe.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dead cat bounce or the start of bull market? on: February 19, 2019, 10:46:14 AM
Neither one thing nor the other. It's clear that a bull run is not going to happen, it's too soon for that, and I don't believe prices will drop. I think there will be a stable period, maybe with a slight rise.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scammers are now moving into Masternodes (2019 exit scam method) on: February 19, 2019, 09:51:58 AM
Premined coins were quite usual before ICOs appeared and everyone started to create projects based in ETH or other established coins. As the OP has explained, when those coins got listed in some exchange, devs dumped their coins to zero. If you see a coin with premine, no matter dev's explication, you better stay away.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Learn to trust at least someone on: February 16, 2019, 05:07:11 PM
If you are going to entrust your keys to someone, you better have good reasons to trust in that person, if not, you are going to regret for a long time.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs. Banks? on: February 16, 2019, 03:42:54 PM
Obviously they are, I guess they will have to look for another niche, other clients. They should have seen this coming, sooner or later banks were going to be able to create their own blockchains and then, why should they trust Ripple instead of managing everything by themselves?

Not everyone also wants to build their own platform. It needs lots of cost and employees. Instead, they use the other popular platform to serve for their jobs and it will save more cost

Money is not a problem for banks, if any random startup out there can create their own blockchain, imagine what banks can afford to do. Creating their own private blockchain allows them to manage and control everything, make themselves look more modern and avoid the reliance on a third party.
