I am building a gaming rig that will also be able to mine some alt coins (CAP, BBQ, etc) and I just received my MSI 7950 Twin Frozr. I plan on getting a second one. WHen I plugged all of my specs and hardware intothe Newegg PSU calculator, it said I needed 829W. Then they have a "search PSU" button. Clicked it, found a Rosewill 850W, and ordered it.
But then later I saw a lot of people saying that for 2 X 7950's you need a minimum of 1000w PSU
I was planning on undervolting them too. So I am just wondering if 850w is going to be a sufficient PSU...especially since I will need to be playing some high-end games as well
Other specs:
AMD FX 8350
DVD-RW
RAM: DDR3 4 X 8gb (32gb)
Note: With just one card on New Egg's calculator it said it would be using 529W. I didnt think of it until later that an increase of 300w for an additional 7950 might not be correct

Can anyone walk me through getting this working on Linux like I'm 5 years old?
Getting this after ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" ./configure: line 5506: 'LIBCURL_CHECK_CONFIG(, 7.10.1, ,' what this means? this one got me stuck up for few mins earlier. Basically install the libcurl dev libraries. on ubuntu :- sudo apt-get install libcurl-ocaml-dev and then run ./autogen.sh again to generate fresh configure script. I think there is something in autogen which writes a bad configure script if libcurl development headers were missing. Well, Ive tried this and now I have officially tried everything. I cant get scrypt-jane to work/install. Ive been trying for months |

Thanks but if I am just pool mining for Copper Bars and want to use scrypt jane, how do I install that on my Ubuntu?

So this scrypt-jane confuses me , if i run cpu i get 4k per thread approx. If i run my gpu i get ~ 400k but from reading this forum it says gpu isn't worth it anymore. THere is some information that iam missing and i am not sure what that is, can someone please enlighten me why cpu mining is better? Is it also better to cpu mine in a pool or solo?

So with the latest cpuminer/minerd do I have to download 'scrypt Jane' or can I just start minerd with the command:
./minerd -a scrypt (then pool url and user credentials)?
Or will I just generate invalid shares? I have never tried to mine a coin that uses 'Scrypt Jane' (Like YAC) so any yelp would be great

I wish the difficulty for Feathercoin wasn't so high. It doesnt seem to match up with other altcoins that have similar value. Otehrwise I would still be mining these. But I have liked the coin since day one. It should be right up with LTC

Thank you for the update with BottleCaps V1.5 - mullick, John's and others.  My BottleCaps coin wallet's appear to be updating OK. addnode=80.229.2.127 which is currently downloading a fresh blockchain with 24 connections already - it takes a while to write to the SD card on an old Asus Eee PC, although it runs stable once downloaded.  Updated the link to V1.5 on the free web proxy: http://bottlecaps.cc.aiAgain, its a rather random free domain name, although the proxy host is a good one. If it gets enough traffic I'll consider registering a TLD. I'll start promoting it to some lists within 24hrs. Also changed the pool link to http://cap.coinmine.pl - will bottlecapspool.com be back online soon ? Cheers! Thanks for the coinmine pool. I was using Big Verns pool but he shut it down.
