141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Weird problem when using my Nvidia rig on: January 10, 2017, 09:05:34 PM
Back in time (one or two, maybe three at most, months ago), when I was still mining, I had an AMD rig and an Nvidia rig for those you do not know me, and I encountered weird issues with my Nvidia rig. When I did not let the VGA cable plugged into it and let it like that for some time, I do not know the exact, the screen got resized for a bigger display, so all the screen was visible. The taskbar and the right of the screen was not seenable. Has anyone encountered this issue, and resolved it ?
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Reason Bitcoin will always be #1 on: January 10, 2017, 08:58:54 PM
There is certainly a bit of truth in what you are saying, but I would not say that it is the only reason. The general branding will make it the number one forever, that is true, and the name played a big part in this success, but that is far from being the only one. Some people think that with a ridiculous name they will attract many people if their crypto-currency is good enough, but now we haveve entered in some kind of branding competition, and people will not look at your coin if it has a shitty name for exemple.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If the mining profits decrease, will Bitcoin end? on: January 09, 2017, 07:57:00 PM
The value will rise, because miners sell their coins at some price. Considering that new people are entering frequently and let's say that they buy the bitcoins available for cheap, more and more you will rise until you hit miners' bitcoins. This is the case where the market would be forced to adjust to a greater price, but you know, the natural growth of the users if for me enough to keep the most competitive mining facilities profitable.
144  Economy / Services / Re: [1 OPEN SLOT] Rollin.io Signature & Avatar Campaign on: December 29, 2016, 05:11:09 PM
These are still pretty good rates considering the $900+ price of the btc right now. This is hardly any reduction tbh  Cheesy
I'm glad to see that people aren't too bummed out about the rate changes. Let's just hope that this bitcoin price drive continues right into the new year.  Wink

You must be really a jackass to complain about those rates. They're still incredibly competitive, and I could say that at any rate, I'd be happy since I'm grateful to this nice campaign, and I think everyone will agree with me here Smiley !
145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy crap heading past $1,000 !!! on: December 28, 2016, 02:03:15 PM
Oh ok, my bad. So a lot less important person for sure. You know, the price does not only fall when something wrong happens. The market is totally unpredictable, so even if all the lights are green, we might have a big hard dump. That's even a nearly-exact consequence when there is such an increase in price in a such little timespan.

I wouldn't call Bobby Lee a lot less important as he is a very influential person in the Bitcoin world. Especially when you consider that BTCC is at this point, according to their daily volumes, the largest Bitcoin exchange in the world. On top of that is their pool BTCC Pool good for 10% of the total network power. He can very well estimate what might happen since he has access to all information whales here would be more than happy to know.

I didn't denied him being important or not, that's just that I find him less important than theymos, and I challenge you to prove me wrong ! Except if he's traficking the price in his exchange (which wouldn't surprise me with all this faked volume), I don't see how he could predict anything, because the price trends are not based on anything perpetual and exact.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Place for your mining rigs on: December 28, 2016, 01:58:20 PM
Hi @mettalmag ,

Will you be interested in place where:
Electricity price will be 5 Cents per Kwh,
Air flow and conditioning,
Security and alarm systems.
Place may be divided into personal and shared rooms, total avg. ~350sqm.
What will be affordable price for you per sqm?
Any thoughts and suggestions would be great

I would really be interessted, in getting 1 mē "cooled place"
2 set one 1 42HE Rack.

A bunch of IPs and 2 (redundant) Providerlines (e.EG. VDSL + Fiber)
are of course essential.

... think about, what we could do on 350 mē - can you carry the heat of 7200 KW/h away ?

Let me think - we got huge knowledge in climate control.

About which continent we are talking ?

Might be a JointVenture.

 Wink PanneKopp

He's talking about Europe (I guess that's where Georgia is located) or maybe Asia, I don't know, since it's pretty much at the border between both. He's in the Caucasus, in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia (the country, not the American southern state).
147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: December 28, 2016, 01:55:41 PM
People living in poor countries might have a reason not to buy, because one Bitcoin is very expensive for them, but for us people living in the "Rich World" not having a bitcoin is a major fault if we believe in it. The History showed it many times, buying at any price will make you more bucks if you wait long enough. But back to the topic. Yes, I have one bitcoin, that I earned though.

hard to call signature spamming "earned"
in fact, what a joke
reported to your campaign manager

Huh ? What are saying ? Me spamming ? I don't know what's wrong with you, but that is false. How could I spam a campaign where I have a fixed number of posts, that I have already exceeded Roll Eyes ?
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My 2017 predictions on: December 28, 2016, 09:48:59 AM
I believe that kimdotcom will affect the cryptocurrency market delivering megaupload 2.0 , so SIA , MAIDSAFE and STORJ are under my radar . SIA is my No 1 priority as minebox will use it also.

So you mean that Megaupload 2 will use SIA, since you said that Minebox will use it also ? I hope they won't rely on such untested altcoins that are dual-miner toys.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Place for your mining rigs on: December 28, 2016, 09:43:50 AM
what if someone want to buy one of your rig? how much would you sell it?

assuming your rig are 6 x 470 and mining zcash they are doing , $170 a month net profit right?

so around 10 months roi

right now paying to you more than 10% plus the electricity cost would kill the point of hosting

because at every 10% added it's like paying 3-4 cent more for electricity

I do not think the net profit is $170 for the rig.

Not exactly but close to that figure. The net profit per month with an electricty rate of 0,05$/KWh is something around 150$ with the current mining difficulties and prices of the altcoins.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: December 28, 2016, 09:41:08 AM
For me to this day the best use of Bitcoin, in the sens that no solution in the whole world can compete with it or be at the same level, is gambling. Imagine you're burried in debt, you have money problems, you're bank is closely watching your accounts... The only solution to be able to gamble safely is to use Bitcoin. Moreover you'll keep all the profits, unlike when you bet with cash. That's just an exemple but there's probably many more.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: December 28, 2016, 09:37:35 AM

152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Everyone already knows about bitcoin" no.. no they do not.. on: December 28, 2016, 09:30:32 AM
That's true pal. I've to this day encountered only one person that knew what Bitcoin was, and for him it was a childish toy... It pass from times to times to the news, but here people generally don't attend the 24/7 news and watch just the prime time news, which generally don't mention it at all. I say that organising big conferences throught the major cities of Europe and North America is a good idea to increase awareness.

The reason why many people doesnt know about bitcoin because of its lack of promotion. It is not always portrayed in the media or any slogans and why, its because bitcoin is not like the banks that is owned by big multinationals who pay millions for advertisement. Bitcoin will be endorsed by its users in a very normal way, there is no need to hurry, sooner or later the news about bitcoin will reach the hears of the common masses.

Yes,it's still 'many miles to go' for bitcoin as far as it's reach is concerned. It's known to only a small percentage of people. There are so many people round the globe who have not even heard of it yet and don't know that a potential alternative digital currency known as bitcoin exists.

That's still better that we promote it a bit higher, with like at least one summit in any of tha major countries once a year, because some alternative solutions are branded correctly, and might attract users in the bad way, since those soltuions are not Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is decentralised, there is no one funding and no one really willing to fund a huge advertising campaign to surpass that of PayPal's or Western Union. The best we can make are memes Cheesy

Maybe we can start an advertising charity? Like SeansOutpost for Bitcoin.

That's where the fun begins for me. People create associations and organise meetings where they live. They're on facing a Linux shouting crowd, they do their presentation, the Linux crowd applause, they're hailed, they become famous, and then rich, and then Bitcoin to the moon Cheesy ! That's something I'd like to do. Creating such associations is fun I think. And investing time in it might be lucrative since you can make it a company, that could sell bitcoins, sell product such as mugs, store bitcoins, give private lessons...
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the most secure mining method? on: December 28, 2016, 09:26:51 AM
This is PoW. That's the technology Satoshi invented, and that's the most used one. Beside giving your altcoin a true value unlike the valueless PoS coins, this is the strongest way of securing a coin if you have a good decentralisation of the miners, and enough miners, of course !

I see that POW is still better mining method but how well we can choose the mining method.
POW and SHA Algo will is the best one at the present.

Thanks for sharing for your opinions. While Proof of Work may be energy intensive, it does better in securing the network than Proof of Stake by making it a truly decentralized way of minting new coins. I've never found PoS a great way to secure a cryptocurrency, as those who prove to have the biggest stakes on the network might gain control of the cryptocurrency. While there are many PoS coins out there with good devs, most of them are very inexpensive when compared to PoW coins.

In the end, I think that I might choose dPoW for my new altcoin since it aims to secure the cryptocurrency using Bitcoin's hashrate. I've found this the most innovative development among most altcoins, in which I think that it will be applied on other altcoins when Komodo launches. Just sharing my thoughts.  Grin

How does that dPoW works ? Are people actually mining it or is it just automatically computed by Bitcoin's network ? You're right about the PoS coins, because they tend to have a minimal value compared to the PoW giants. By the way do you see a PoS giant ? No. The market has elected the winners.
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy crap heading past $1,000 !!! on: December 28, 2016, 09:22:53 AM
Marketcap is too big now to crash teh market, you can try to swing the price here and there but the overall situation is we have a 15 billion dollar marketcap right now, for an entity to move the price and crash it would need tons of money to blast. I can see rich attackers trying to crush the price and even successfully getting some dips here and there, but it's impossible to crush the price, and the higher we go the harder it will be.

15 billion market cap is still much smaller than the google or microsoft. The price of bitcoin will still be volatile.

Talking about the marketcap is totally useless when we talk here about a technology. That's more the combinated value of all the bitcoins rather than a marketcap. There's even people talking about the "marketcap" of gold... Thinking in marketcap has no purpose I think, and comparing it to big technological companies that has an inflated marketcap is also not a very good idea because it has no utility.

That might be interesting in the case of someone like me, that already has the rigs and that do not want and in some way cannot run it where they live. Even at 0,1$/KWh, I'll take it, since that will be close to half the price I'm paying Roll Eyes...
156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy crap heading past $1,000 !!! on: December 28, 2016, 09:16:35 AM
Keep calm my friend. We're still not there and we might never because 1000$ is some sort of milestone, and I guess that the resistance will be very high at that point. I can't imagine how much people have set their sell point to 1000$ because it is a symbol.

I'm definitelt with you on this, but don't forget what BTCC boss has said about the price to break through the current all time high in 2017. Usually I ignore such predictions, but this coming from a person that influential is giving it a ton of extra weight. Also take in mind that BTCC is now leading in terms of trading volume. We have some interesting times ahead of us...

BTCC boss ? You mean theymos ? I prefer BTCT for Bitcointalk. I doubt about that statement, because I'm still convinced that where we stand now is a spike and that it will come down back. I hope I'm wrong and that this rise will be sustained, but I frankly doubt about it.

BTCC = BTCChina exchange, and the big man there is Bobby Lee. Of course, at some point we will definitely see a decent correction, but at this point the sentiment and momentum are in ultra good condition. If we happen to go through a correction at the early part of 2017, we'll definitely be able to continue the current bull run a few months after that. That's of course assuming nothing bad happens as was the case with Bitfinex months ago.

Oh ok, my bad. So a lot less important person for sure. You know, the price does not only fall when something wrong happens. 157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Forever: 26.04 BTC Burned In 2016 on: December 28, 2016, 09:12:01 AM
My big question is how do they know that this is a burning address ? Unless this is stated in the address' public key, I see absolutely no way to identificate them. Anyone has a clue about that ? And beside that, I think that the amount is much bigger that the 2771,4086BTC stated in the second post.

Yeah I was in the same situation with you, most of the people I've met including strangers to close friends didn't even know there was something called bitcoin. Every time I was going to say something about bitcoin, they started to avoid the conversation or just ignore what I was saying. I'm so depressed right now  Cry

That's about the same thing for me. I don't mention how they sometimes come back to me just to say me that they're heard something about Bitcoin I don't know where and that they can take me to the police and I'll send up in jail Roll Eyes...

160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Place for your mining rigs on: December 28, 2016, 08:56:43 AM
well a rig don't occupy that much of a space, especially if you stack them up

isn't better for you to charge a % on the hosting instead? like 5-10% on the total revenue of the hosted rigs?

what about trust? how can we trust you?

The percentage might be better for me. I'd be willing to give him let's say 10-20% of what the rig produces and up to 33% if he can pay for the shipping. Ii would cost something like 77$ to ship 12kg, so might be worth for him or not. There's something to do here I believe.

why shipping? i come up with a better alternative, you just give him the money and he build and host your rig there, you then pay for the electricity cost and give him an additional 10% of your earning for the hosting

I already have rigs that I can't run here because of the high price of electricity. I've already spent too much money on those rigs that have been turned off for now. I don't want to invest a penny further into something that will break even in so much time.

currently even with 40-50 cent electricity you cna make profit, you have really an electricity higher than 40-50 cent per kwh? this is crazy

My rigs are profitable, but not enough for me. They'll bring me something like 60-80$ a month for 7 cards, that's definitely not worth it, considering the time it does require me to check it like 20 times a day !

why so often?

Because I'm kind obssessed with them Cheesy ! I can't stand more than hour to check if there isn't a crypto-currency more profitable to mine (useless I know but that's some sort of natural behaviour) and if they mine correctly !
That's  obsession  Grin ( no offense) In my case I'm checking only 2 times / day (when I'm home )

And yeahh ..40-50 cent/KWh it's a sin ! I'm paying no more than 14 cent/KWh

You know, I don't have electricity at 0,4-0,5$/KWh, not living in American Samoa Cheesy ! My electricity price is something like 0,19$/KWh so of course I'm still profitable, but just 60-80$ a month, I don't think estimate it to be worth doing it.
