141  Economy / Economics / Re: Scaling bitcoin to world economy is unrealistic. on: September 16, 2012, 11:48:05 AM
i dont see it as a replacement for other currencies. bitcoin will exist along side other forms of money including fiat currencies and people will choose which they want to use based on what value those forms of money offer.

So ^this is often the response. "Bitcoin wasn't particularly meant to be revolutionary, just a cheap way to send money."

See my signature for a palatable solution to having an unbounded supply that has significant protection against inflation and could actually replace fiat currency.

thats not really what i meant. i think of bitcoin as a form of money not just a way to send money.

Realistically i agree completely with you.
I strongly feel that bitcoin is fully dependent on current underlying economic structures so it can only integrate with current systems but not replace them completely.

But i hear a lot of revolutionary talk on these fora and frankly i'm getting a bit scared by the completely unrealistic projections some people tend to dream up.
So i'm trying to point out flaws in that line of reasoning.
And frankly it's not very hard..

agreed

but it would still be the biggest amount of wealth owned by the smallest group of peaople ever in history of humanity.
i dont see this as a huge problem. and certainly not worse than under a central banking system. for the most part we live in a world were the money supply is largely owned and controlled by a handful (as a generous estimate) of families or corporations.

145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How To Secure a Wallet With TrueCrypt on a MAC on: September 15, 2012, 08:24:19 PM
I have been thinking of doing something similar but i have not actually tried it yet. watching this to see how it works out for you.

I was also thinking how useful it would be to have a client that contains the wallet within instead of a seperate file and the whole client is encrypted. similar to how truecrypt encrypts a container file. you would also be able to have a hidden wallets that use different pass keys. you get a different wallet depending on which keys you use to decrypt the client.

same as the hidden container idea in true crypt allow plausible deniability.

i am not clever enough to code anything like this though.

good luck gettin multibit to read from you truecrypt container.

148  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE not replying to my support tickets. account locked. on: September 14, 2012, 04:34:09 PM
My support tickets were about 2 factor authentication which had stopped working. I am unable to do anything with my account.

It would make sense if nefario is in London, he was dealing with the tickets himself.

149  Economy / Securities / GLBSE not replying to my support tickets. account locked. on: September 14, 2012, 04:25:03 PM

I cant move my funds or withdraw.

They were respoding to my tickets up until Tuesday (today is Friday).
I have had no response since Tuesday.

late summer /ealry autumn is a good time. you need to get soft green growth. branch that has gone woody will be very difficult to root. late summer early autumn that new wood has had a good growth spurt. take cuttings early in the morning when the tree has been filling up and restoring energy over night.

when you plant your cutting keep the soil dry. keep the propogator warm but not in direct bright sunlight good light near a window or shaded in a green house not direct sun. you want the plant to search for moisture in the ground. keep the leaves and air around the leaves moist. the plant will feed through its leaves and search for water through the soil. but you dont want it to find water in the soil. wet soil will cause damping off and your cutting will rot.

it will take a couple of months to root.

they probably are viable but it can be difficult to germinate some tree seeds. did you try freezing the seeds over winter?
154  Economy / Goods / Re: 0.59 BTC for seeds in a pack to malaysia on: September 13, 2012, 11:43:11 AM
it is a good time to take cuttings if you can find a birch tree. you will need to create a mini green house with a used pop bottle. but you should be able to get a root from a soft wood cutting of a tree if you can find one. there are how to's on taking cuttings on youtube. for some trees it is easier to take a cutting than it is to germinate a seed.

i was just looking for an image of a pop bottle propogator and found an instructible on making one.

yes the best way to get seeds out of the fruit is to open the fruit scrape the inside out throw away the skin. take a piece of kitchen roll or toilet roll. place the fruit that you scooped from the skin into the kithen/toilet roll. squash the juice out of it and keeping squeeing the juice and drying it with roll.

then you should be able to open the roll and have the seeds with most of the fruit and juice taken away. then wrap what is left in a bit more roll and leave in a dry warm place. when the roll of seeds is dry then you can post. the seeds can be planted straight from the roll. the loo roll is a good starting grow medium for germination of seeds.

rambutan seed
papaya seed

sugarcane seed

most of them have season to produce fruit

rambutan looks like a kind of lychee but with extra hairy shell
and i have not tried anything like durian although it looks similar to roasting chestnuts.
