141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: August 30, 2016, 05:40:34 PM
Still collecting BitBay after hearing about in a year ago.  I am in it for the longterm because I am a 15 year Ebay seller ready to make the break!  Nice job dev, good luck to everyone.
142  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-08-29] Risk of Bitcoin Hacks and Losses Is Very Real on: August 30, 2016, 03:50:46 PM
I behave as if at all times someone is trying to steal my bitcoin and other crypto.  I agree that this is old news but newcomers should know how to protect themselves so it is a good reminder.
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Synereo - Earn Money Using Social Media on: August 29, 2016, 04:41:20 AM
I will definitely be trying it.  I love the concept of decentralized social media and people being rewarded for their content rather than making someone else rich.

Does anyone know when in September it will be released and we can actually use it?

I have been following Synereo for a year and this is great to see it become something that can be used rather than speculated.
144  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are Bitcoin private property on: August 29, 2016, 04:34:52 AM
Each country, state, jurisdiction, etc have their own ways of classifying bitcoin.  Check with yours and see what you find.  Regardless of your local laws, having the private key to your bitcoin is essentially owning property. Good question.
145  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is it illegal for someone to hack my BTC wallet? on: August 29, 2016, 04:32:36 AM
Even if it cannot be proven, it is theft. Plain and simple illegal shenanigans.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is Dogecoin dying ? on: August 28, 2016, 03:03:55 PM
Memes don't have much of a shelf life, turns out.

thanks for the laugh!
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How and why Steem failed ? on: August 28, 2016, 02:47:29 PM
My observations :

-Too many people with good quality content are getting a lot of votes but are not getting any money.  This has happened to me numerous times - I have about 3 posts that have gotten over 50 votes (one with nearly 100) and tons of comments yet got 12.00.  I even have a post that did well with votes, was quality and interesting, then a "whale" did something similar and made good money.

-There should be an instant reward for over 50 votes and a quality post - maybe 20 SD or something.  Then people would still post and keep the content going.

-I have brought people to the platform and they are cranking out interesting content and photography and are having a hard time getting started because they are not a 20 year old female showing some skin.  I have stopped bringing people in until things improve.

Summary:  I love Steemit and I came into Steemit as a crypto person.  I was interested first as an investment but I am also a content creator by profession as a webdev.  I have been posting on Instagram and Facebook for years getting nothing for my content, so steemit is a dream for artists, writers, photographers, etc.  My first post got over 500.00 and I have had some hits around 300.00 over the last two months but lately it is dropping off.  I have posted some of my best work in the last couple weeks and get nothing.  I am not willing to show cleavage for $  haha

Edit: forgot to add about the voting system.  At this point people are only chasing and piggy backing on posts they know will be successful because of the author so that they can make money. There is no incentive for people to vote on minnow content because they know they might be wasting their vote.
148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit $3k-$4k by end of 2017 on: August 28, 2016, 02:34:24 PM
I hope that happens but I think realistically the top may be 1500-2K by the end of 2017.  16 months is a lot of time and all it would take is one thing to change everything - a big company integrating bitcoin into their payment system, a new technology that integrates bitcoin, who knows what the possibilities are.  I speculate that 2017 will be an interesting year for btc as we approach the year when no more bitcoin will be made.
149  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: WHY DO I NEED I.D. AND PROOF OF ADDRESS ?? on: August 28, 2016, 02:30:04 PM
Why not?  It protects you, it protects the exchange, and this is what is needed with Bitcoin if we want mass adoption.  People want to feel secure.  You have to provide this with a regular bank as well.
150  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-8-28]PayPal Competes With Bitcoin For Marketshare Among Indian Freelancers on: August 28, 2016, 02:28:10 PM
Of course their fees will be higher, hopefully this does not distract this demographic from Bitcoin.
151  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-08-25] Legal Identity for All: Can Bitcoin’s Blockchain Rise to the Challe on: August 28, 2016, 12:29:56 AM
Interesting to see the United Nations involvement.  This reminds me of the "Blockchain Girl" who had her identity from the blockchain.  This only makes sense as the blockchain cannot be forged or changed.  Also, never lose your passport again!
152  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-08-25] The Bitcoin Patent – Only A Matter Of Time? on: August 28, 2016, 12:28:33 AM
How can Bitcoin have a patent?  Hasn't this already been attempted and it is null?  I thought that you can have patents that utilize bitcoin but no existence of a patent that claims bitcoin.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I'm boycotting bitcoins. on: August 25, 2016, 02:26:04 PM
It won't be "classist" for long and I am not sure it is even that at this point.  May demographics are involved with Bitcoin and that will increase as time goes on.  Are you still boycotting?
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: August 25, 2016, 02:24:24 PM
Looks like STEEM is in the bear market now Cheesy The question is - will STEEM recover after this?

It will recover, it is just getting started.  Crypto is all over the place so this is no surprise.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Someone should invent a coin that works like Pokemon GO on: August 16, 2016, 02:01:41 PM
I just briefly looked at geocoin. It looks like their app is really nice. The concept is interesting but are the coins that are on the map just essentially put in places by other users? Ie: the only way for a coin to appear is for a user to place it there.

This coin would be awesome if it worked similar to huntercoin and people were encouraged to go hunt out the new supply instead of hoping some person leaves a coin nearby. I checked and the nearest coin (low value btw) is about 7 hours away. I'd probably go collect some if they were near me, or if the coins were of a high value. According to their website it looks like there is a high value coin near london. Lol

I def think geocoin crossed with huntercoin would be a winner.

Geocoin for their geocashing tech and huntercoin for the human mining aspect

Interesting thought to mix geocoin with huntercoin.  I like how active the developer is with GeoCoin and the physical geocoins he has made are cool too.  I definitely keep grabbing GEO bit by bit just in case it becomes a leader in geocashing.

157  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-08-16]First bitcoin exchange office opened in Moscow on: August 16, 2016, 01:51:40 PM
Such great news considering that Russia has struggled with the decision about legal or not illegal.  These kind of moves make it a no turning back situation.
158  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-07-17] Down The Deep Dark Web Movie Talks Bitcoin And Anarchism on: August 16, 2016, 01:50:36 PM
Thanks for the heads up, this looks like an important movie for people to see.  Will be waiting . . .
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is stealing Bitcoin illegal? on: August 16, 2016, 01:48:19 PM
Is taking someone's chicken from their yard stealing, what about their car, or their bank account - even if you found the account numbers?  What is the point of asking this question? If it is not yours it is stealing.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is virtual currency for criminal on: August 16, 2016, 01:46:11 PM
Criminals use more dollars than bitcoins. The currency can't help being used by criminals.

Exactly.  Criminals also use cash and regular banks.  Why the FUD title?  What is the point in saying it, spreads FUD.
