141  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: May 10, 2024, 03:07:56 PM
The first half was quite a competitive match, however, the 2nd half especially the 4th quarter was different as TNT exploded which resulted to a blowout win.

Usually the first half was competitive but the good team always played well in the 2nd half where it's a winning time for them. I didn't watch the game but judging on the statistics, it was the TNT's great shooting night that gave them this win. Based on the stats, they shoot at 51% overall, that percentage is a winning percentage if the other team falls below to it, and in this game, the ROS shoots only 39%.

Well, this series is not over yet, maybe next time they'll pay attention to their defense as that's what killed them in this game.

one thing I noticed also, when Oftana is leading the team, they'll likely win, here he had 32 points and shoots 5-9 from beyond the arc.
142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: May 10, 2024, 12:46:00 PM
Game 3 odds is quite interesting for the Cavaliers, they are given +7.5 at home after winning, damn, I think I like to take that without a doubt.

Sure that's very attractive as they never loss at home yet in the playoffs. And there's a possibility that Allen will return in game 3, but it's not necessary as they beat the Celtics already without him. They played great defense and the teamwork was there.

Actually, aside from Cavaliers moneyline, or the handicap if you want a bit safer, I also like to bet on the Team total for the Cavaliers, it should be over now at over 102.5.

Anyway, before that, there are two upcoming games.

Knicks vs Pacers game 3 (no OG) and Minny vs Nuggets..
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 10, 2024, 11:36:01 AM
Let's discuss about the Cavaliers too. How good they are with Mitchell? They steal game 2 on the road and now the series is even. I don't know, but this looks like a good series and Celtics are quite overrated. Mitchell is unstoppable as they win even without their starting forward. When Allen will return, their lineup will be more deadly, so to make sure that the Celtics can still gain advantage in the series, they need to win game 3 because if not, the pressure will be too high for them to come back.
That was a mitchell show, he just showed how good he is. Mitchell is still one of the best player in the NBA now who can really carry his team behind his back. IMO, this isn't the same scenario like the Miami Heat, there's no way the Celtics will win the next 3 games to eliminate the Cavaliers. remember that this team have a good standing, they finished number 4 but they could end up at number 2 if mitchell wasn't out for a while due to injury.

Just imagine if the Cavaliers will win game 3 and 4, then in game 5 the series will be 3-1, that's a do or die game for the Celtics, and they are not good at that high pressure game.

This is possible though but unlikely to happen. However, if you really believe on that, you can put your bet with a 4-1 series record for the Cavaliers winning, that gives you a very big odds.
144  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Lack of capital or knowledge, which one is holding traders back from profits? on: May 09, 2024, 09:57:53 PM
Lacking either one of them will make it difficult for someone to make profits in trading, to do something knowledge and skills are key but when it comes to trading how much capital you have plays a major role as well depends on what kind of trading you are into. But higher the capital the chances of making profits is kind of easier, they no need to do multiple trades, all they need is to buy at low and sell at high even if their trade complete once in a while still it's going to bring decent profits.
Yes, trading while lacking one of it will never end up at its highest advantage. However, I must say, that if you aim to be trader, be a learner first and gain all the necessary learnings that a successful trader should have. Through that way, you will be able to get rid somehow of losses and be able to manage your trades rightly because you were trained first before you decided to trade for real.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What I experienced since the past two days now on: May 09, 2024, 09:21:24 PM
In this era of internet, trust has become a scarce commodity, because online activities are not done physically, so there's no way of knowing what your friends are really doing while holding their smart phones or staring at their computers, what you know is what they tell you. So we should really be careful how we trust people that we call our friends because they could have skeletons in their cupboards that we're not aware of, like the friend in the OP.

Personally I'm very careful about the people that I discuss my Bitcoin investment with, because I've heard the story where a guy told his friends about the value of Bitcoin that he had, that same day armed robbers visited him, they probably forced him to give them his seed phrase, I don't know.
The more this era gets more digital, the more we should be careful not to trust anyone easily. People can be deceiving with their looks and intentions, so if you are weak and quite ignorant as well, you will definitely fall on their traps. But if they have seen your smart and wise, then it will be hard for them to realize their goals.

Most especially when bitcoin is the topmost concern. People can act as if they’re interested and want to learn all about bitcoin as much as they can, but what we don’t know is that it’s already part of their plan, gaining our trust so we won’t play hard to get whenever they will put their plans into action.
146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: May 09, 2024, 01:44:56 PM
And it looks like the elimination game will already start this Friday (tomorrow).

As we can see on the sched https://www.pba.ph/schedule...

We have NLEX vs Bolts and TNT vs Rain or shine.  I think both match ups are unpredictable, because I believe that all of them aren't playing consistent basketball, so I would just pick the underdog of the game which I think it will be the NLEX and ROS respectively.

I will pick NLEX as well. Bolts is not the same team anymore, I mean their offense are not flawless, and we know that both offense and defense should be effective in order to win. Though NLEX defense is not good as well, but I like their offense since they have a reliable go to guy which is Berto.

So based on standing, Bolts will have a twice to beat advantage, so NLEX has to win the first game or they'll be eliminated.

I tried to check the odds but it's not available yet.
147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 09, 2024, 01:01:33 PM
I agree, but they need someone to step up to be their 3 or 4 scorer, they need a spark from the bench to help them get over when the OKC are taking over the 3rd quarter and just cruising in the 4th. So we will see if there are adjustments made on their part or OKC is really that good and want to proved that they can advance with SGA leading them. And I'm seeing the fans chanting his name again as their MVP.

The problem with Mavs in game 1 is their 3 point shooting is very bad, compared to the 3 point shooting of the OKC. If the Mavs will improve their 3 point shooting in game 2, then it's possible that they will be able to even the series.

What I saw in the game is that, they double Luka and Irving, so they need to pass the ball and there are lots of time that the shooter is open but could not make a shot ,that's something they really need to improve, provided the OKC will use the same strategy in game 2.
148  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I have witnessed it's real to earn daily with futures trading on: May 09, 2024, 10:09:25 AM
As much as we love to believe that story, it's too good to be true at the same time which means that it's going to be really hard to prove to do that, unless of course they do some sort of livestream to broadcast and prove everyone that it's really profitable to do futures trading for daily income. They don't need to do some really good set up, just being able to do the bare minimum of letting the people see it and just do their normal operation with futures, the livestream is a good proof too unlike with just a simple screenshot that can easily be doctored by someone with the knowledge to do it in Photoshop.

Fifteen years is a long time but we're all skeptics here, unless you show us the proof that we're looking for, then you might be lucky that we would believe you.
Well, going into livestream might actually make him the unreliable one if the outcome turns out negative, so for sure, he’ll definitely not do it in order to protect his words, or shall we say his lies. I guess for some not real traders or the new traders, there are chances that they will still be convinced, but I don’t think it’s going to work out for long time traders in the market.

It’s easy to tell people how good or skilled you are as a trader based on the length of years you are exposed in trading, but we all know trading is a mental and emotional game, so there’s no way you can perfect all your trades without committing some inevitable losses and mistakes.
149  Economy / Economics / Re: Take care of your money and learn to save. on: May 08, 2024, 09:59:39 PM
I once heard a saying that the more money the more friends and friends are more valuable than money but I have a principle that the more money, the harder it is to choose friends and money is more valuable than friends. Money can select friendships so that we can have a quality life. Taking care of your money and learning to save is the right choice, because the benefits will return to ourselves. When we save indirectly we learn to appreciate money so we can use it well according to our needs, not just our desires.
That principle you heard is true. We know people, we are mostly attracted to money more than anything else. It is like money is a big magnet and people will just get magnate if you have lots of it. Money is only a paper or a coin, etc... but a friend is a person, so yeah that they are more valuable but there is an exception to that of course for some people. They are still choosy when it comes to making a friend and they don't care if they will have less but as long as those friends are true to them and they have other qualities that they also like. Not to be harsh but your principle or your standards sound high and something tells me that you can ignore poor people easily.
Yes, where there are money, a lot of friends will flock into you. That is not surprising anymore as anyone can attest to that. However, instead of using our money to attract friends, why won’t we use it to attract potential investments that will somehow guarantee some profits, that way we can save a huge amount once that investment works and progress.

Money is not everything, but it’s indeed a very important factor for a human being. Without it, one will not survive from all its daily struggles and challenges. This is why if you already have the money, use your mind so can utilize your money well. Do not just focus on saving itself, but learn to invest as well so that you will have something to use and benefit in your old age when your body is not capable anymore to provide you money.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason why you shouldn't force someone to invest in bitcoin. on: May 08, 2024, 09:30:23 PM
The reason why you shouldn't force someone to invest in bitcoin?
Did you think is good to force someone to invest in bitcoin?
What is the disadvantage of forcing someone to invest in bitcoin?
Did you really think the person is ready to bare the risk that is involve?

What are your opinions towards this particular topic?
You don't need to force anyone to invest in crypto or Bitcoin, it is their money why would you force them to spend it on something that they don't like?
If they lose their money on this investment would you compensate it? what would you get if they invest on it?
I don't see any reason why we need to force them to invest.
Their money, their rules. No need to force them what to do, because for sure they have their own plans where to put their hard-earned money. Besides, bitcoin is not the only potential investment these days, so if they won’t trust bitcoin, they will will never risk their funds.

However, I still wish that they will give it a try with bitcoin after a good research and study. That way, they will be held responsible of their own investment, and not to put the blame on someone when everything is working according to the plan.
151  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people lose in gambling and still go ahead and bet more? on: May 08, 2024, 01:56:53 PM
You've already done your job by telling him the risk in gambling, but since he still continue to gamble, then I think it's best if you will just wait until he learn from his mistake. Most of us gamblers doesn't really win, but what differs from happy gamblers to addict is their ability to control their emotion, a responsible gambler knows how much money he can only afford to lose, and he stick with it, while the addicted gambler never stops until he lose everything, even the money that is not intended for gambling.
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 08, 2024, 12:49:35 PM
Better for Mavs to find the right adjustment and possible to tie the series, it will be a tough one for them if OKC established that confidence travelling to their home court, I mean, even the Thunders are still composed of your stars but with that kind of chemistries and good combinations of both defense and offense it will be a tough job for Mavs beating this young team.

Though, experienced wise, I still believing that both Luka and Kyrie will not waste this opportunity to move forward for the finals they already in this stage so it will be a inspiration for them to push for more.

Good for OKC as they were able to protect their home court, but in game 2, I think it's going to be a close game like how the Mavs made and adjustment after losing to the  Clippers. This is the best Mavs team IMO, so they cannot go down without a fight, win game 2 (very important), so they just need to win 1 game at home and still get the even series. This is two teams that have an MVP candidate this season, Luka have to prove that he is better than SGA, and there's only one way to do that, beat the OKC in the series.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ? on: May 07, 2024, 09:58:37 PM
Have you successfully influenced someone to invest in bitcoin ?  What was the final result, did they thank you later for this ?
Why do I have to? I’m totally aware of its risks that could lead to depression and frustration, so why should I? Bitcoin is not an ordinary investment wherein you’ll just invest and put your hard-earned money and then boom, you’re already in profits. Of course, that’s not how bitcoin works. It may takes several years first of being patient and persistent before you will see its profits and rewards, so that would mean a quite risky and somewhat a roller coaster investment due to its high volatility in the market. And let’s face it, not everyone is patient and is capable to take calculated risk when it comes to putting their hard-earned money in an investment.
154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: After Joining as a beginner what keeps you going on this forum? on: May 07, 2024, 09:30:43 PM

1. Hunger for crypto knowledge:   it takes only determination and the Hunger to be knowledgeable to get a user so active on this crypto space, because every minute you don't come online to see what's happening on the forum it will look like you are missing something, and u will be restless untill you come online.

Hunger for crypto knowledge as you so put it is not supposed to be an afterthought or something you decide to do after creating a bitcointalk account. If learning about cryptocurrencies wasn’t your motivation for joining the forum to begin with, then you will have difficulty finding reasons to stay. The forum has a variety of topics and broad discussions, post wherever you have an interest in. You may discover you’re mostly interested in topics in a particular board than you’re in others.
Yes, instead that should be your prior aim before you decide to enter bitcointalk forum. Because we all know how how educative and informative the forum is, so by knowing that, at least one should set his goal first and all his intentions before joining in the forum because that will serve as your guide or path to follow when you are already inside the forum.

However, learning could be my first goal, but along the way, it seems gaining more of my income is what keeps me going. Yes, I would not lie about that, but of course earning in the forum won’t be possible also if you don’t have a great motivation to learn in the first place.
155  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Before Trading Bitcoin you should... on: May 06, 2024, 05:04:36 PM
Bitcoin trading is supposed to promote more liquidity and thus more money for long-term investment and not a daily source of income or an alternative to a job. Bitcoin is a high-risk asset but has a good return in the long term.
If you want to invest in Bitcoin, you must first make sure that you do not need the money for at least two years and that you will not be affected if you lose it, then Bitcoin will be very profitable.
Hence, if you want to enjoy your investment and trade it without getting bothered to lose at the process, always have a stable job first that will support all your needs. That way, you won’t think of selling your coins earlier than what you have planned. Bitcoin will never be capable to offer quick profits, so we need to give it a long term scope of investment and see how it creates wonders in the long run.

Also, faith should be established first prior to investing or trading, as you won’t be able to pursue your goal if you don’t have the faith on what you are doing.
156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do casinos require users to verify their identity through a KYC policy? on: May 04, 2024, 01:01:19 PM
I've read a lot of comments in this board stating that a user is required to undergo KYC if their account is suspected of cheating. Can anyone explain how it is necessary related to the subject? A detailed explanation would be better, but everyone's ideas are welcome, as I believe it's worth discussing so gamblers will not be misled regarding this matter, which pops up from time to time.

Simple answer Anti Money Laundering(AML) policy is what makes casino requires user to verify identity. All user that suspected to commit violation automatically subjected to AML policy.

Not only when user is suspected cheating, they can also require KYC if your account balance reach the amount which AML policy set to require an account KYC that’s why casino always states on their ToS that they have the right to ask KYC anytime.

I think it's not only casino but other industry as well that deals with money does have KYC. AFAIK, in our country, KYC is mandatory on banks and pawnshop but it could be different with casino since they can attract more gamblers if they will not ask for KYC, but due to the government regulation they are oblige to comply on that, otherwise they'll be penalize and worst their license will be revoke.

When crypto casinos were introduced in the early stage, they don't talk about KYC, in fact they are very aggressive in marketing their anonymous gambling but as we all know, when bitcoin gets popular the government slowly controlling us, that's why exchanges gets regulated and now the casinos. When an account is suspected of cheating, it's normal they'll ask for KYC so if they found out after the investigation that the user did really violate the TOS and that they could file a legal case, they know whom they'll go after with.
157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: May 04, 2024, 12:00:21 PM
I read a headline that tells about Converge gonna draft Kai Sotto to their team if ever he wants to play on PBA. But his manager retaliates and said that even he'll be offered twenty million pesos, he's not going to accept it because they're going to push further to his journey to international leagues and get close at least to NBA dream of his. They're still going to try no matter what happens just for the sake of the dream of Kai to play there and that's a wise answer.

They are in the position to deny that offer as Kai Sotto's career has been progressing. Big man like him is in demand, and he is still young and could still develop his skills. I don't understand, 20 million? For real? the PBA is dying and people are not watching it anymore, where will they get that 20 million salary?

Kai Sotto could earn $10 million if he plays with the NBA, so they'll gamble on that, besides, the PBA can wait, if Kai failed in achieving his dream, then that's the time they'll talk with his camp and get that 20 million ready. For now, Kai has to take bigger opportunity, not so secure but if he wins, he can make a fortune on it.

Meanwhile, we have the SMB vs Meralco, I thought it's gonna be another easy win by the SMB but it seems like they'll take the loss here and will not play harder since they already secured the number 1 spot and the twice to beat advantage.

66-82 now entering in the fourth quarter, I'm not expecting a come back.
158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Beterbiev vs. Bivol - Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship on: May 04, 2024, 08:00:34 AM
Unfortunately, Artur Beterbiev is once again injured and this fight will be postponed. The rest of the card, which is the 5 v 5 Matchroom vs Queensberry event will still go on. It is still a good card headlined by Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang but its still a disappointment that one of the most anticipated fights in recent history will not be happening.

Beterbiev is no stranger to injury. Many of his fights have been postponed due to injury. This is why he has so few fights for a 39 year old.

Sad news for us who have been anticipating for this big fight. I haven't read the news yet but thanks for sharing. Is there any timeline or estimate as to when they'll make this fight happen?

Was really waiting for this and my bet was ready for Beterbiev, although he is the older guy but his KO rate (100%) is very impressive, so it's easy to choose him to win via KO.
159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: May 04, 2024, 07:25:54 AM
Kyrie Irving. So Amazing!

1st half, focused on defense. Shut down Paul George and James Harden, and make it difficult for them to shoot. Kyrie only made 2 points there.
2nd half, focused on offense. 28 monster points. 5/9 in the three-point line and his speed is unstoppable.
That's what Luka needs. Someone to score whenever he is doubled and someone he could lean on in the defensive end too. Dallas Mavericks is strong.
Now, they will be up against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2nd round who play up-tempo with young players who are agile and strong. They will have to be more focused on the defensive end, especially against SGA and Jalen Williams. Those guys can score anywhere and Kyrie will have a lot of work to do.

They maintain their composure, even if the Clippers were able to come back in the first half after being down by a double digit, but they Mavericks had the big run in the 3rd quarter and from their, they were in control of the game already. Kyrie was the man, Luka not so on point in that game but with them playing great chemistry, even if one is struggling, they can still conquer their opponent.

So we are now waiting for the game 1 of OKC vs Dallas, it's official now.

What team do you think will win?
160  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: In order to reach your target, don't rush! on: May 03, 2024, 08:21:44 PM
Traders often click the panic sell in desperation when they see price falling while one who is experienced will look it as an opportunity to make more profitable. We should be able to think clearly in high pressure situation for that we need clear vision of what we are trying to achieve.

To ease things for traders always choose the less risky trading method which is spot long term trading any other method is risky.
Beginner traders might still be acceptable doing that since this feeling or emotion is still new to them. But I guess for old traders, I can tell they’re already less affected and won’t end up panicking easily just because bitcoin price is bleeding. That proves experience is really crucial in trading in order to learn to control emotions most especially when the crypto market is not in a positive condition.

Rushing to be in profits will never work for bitcoin. Note that bitcoin is good for long term asset, so anticipating immediate profits for bitcoin will always end up as a frustration.
