141  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Main reason behind crypto currencies red market in 2018 on: August 30, 2018, 05:09:43 AM
2018 has so far seen the highest funds jointly raised through ICOs.
This has a minimal effect on bitcoins value, a lot of other factors also have effects in the price.
There has been very little real possitive news for the most of 2018.

Is it? I thought 2017 was the highest amount of raised funds through ICOs that may never be repeated again because most ICO developers have already scammed millions of $ from the community. The community is wiser now but also out of BTC and $ to burn lol.

I wouldn't be surprised in 2018 is the year when ICO raised a lot of money. I think there's ICO born every minute so its possible that they attracted more investors. The problem is scammed ICO ares still present and I assume that its one reason why the market is also down, investors doesn't have the full confidence and they are getting intelligent and smarter today as compare to last year.

I would be surprised, if you ask me. Its now a bear market, everyone is dumping their tokens with losses and many people in the community who are left holding are already scammed. Theres no more money coming in anymore lol.
142  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GatePay - Instant Cryptocurrency Payment Solution (Looking for teammates) on: August 30, 2018, 05:01:23 AM
Doesnt Bitpay have the same service as your project? They also dont like offchain solutions and have made sure that everything stays onchain by adding BCH in their accepted coins because its more scalable.

What would be your technical advantage over Bitpay?
Yeah BitPay is on-chain solution but it's for ordinary payment transactions, not for instant transactions. Online merchants using BitPay need to be sure their incoming transactions are confirmed thats because buyers can double-spend their unconfirmed payments.
BitPay is for online merchants not for physical merchants this is done so when you make a bitcoin payment for e-commerce with BitPay it does not matter when your transaction will be mined. Let say you bought something online through BitPay and your transaction is confirmed 3 hours later, once its confirmed then online merchant post your order. In the contrast way in terms of physical commerce it's essential to make instant payments because nobody would wait for 10 minute to buy a cup of coffee from a local store. That's why bitcoin is only used for a store of value and investment tool rather than used for daily payments.

Okay I understand now, ty. But why do you have hesitations in using offchain solutions like Lightning Network? Wouldnt your service be doing transactions offchain like Lightning Network, but a centralized version?
143  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ✔ WEX.NZ - Cryptocurrency Trading Platform on: August 30, 2018, 03:22:26 AM
wex.nz, ty for the chance. If you have more questions I can contact nixops from the Burst community. He is the same guy in the interview and the spokesperson for the project in conferences. The PoCC developers can also be contacted through Discord and email in the links provided.
144  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens if a stable coin is in high demand? on: August 30, 2018, 03:16:05 AM
If a stable coin demand rise then the value and price will automatically rise and in this way it will get much attention in the market while to hold this kind of coin is a good way to sell at high price.

That wouldnt be a stable coin anymore lol. If the demand rises on the stable coin there should be more supply to maintain stability, if there is less demand then the issuer has the duty to buy every coin that is dumped.

147  Economy / Economics / Re: What happens if a stable coin is in high demand? on: August 29, 2018, 04:52:31 AM
i think the stable coin always has fixed supply, so, the coin can't be created and destroyed based on the demand

Wrong, a stable coin should have an uncapped supply so the issuer can pour more on the market in times of high demand to be sure that the price of the coin is the same as the price to the asset its backing. In periods of low demand the issuer should be buying the coin themselves for the same reason.
148  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ✔ WEX.NZ - Cryptocurrency Trading Platform on: August 29, 2018, 04:20:34 AM
Its not too young. The code was forked from NXT way back on 2014, and the original developer removed Proof of Stake and replaced it with Proof of Capacity with its own genesis block that has no premine and no ICO.

Its one of the oldest coins that has lived through its own test of time and hardships but came out stronger. It is a robust coin with a solid community.

This is an interview that will show what kind of people are supporting Burst.

Nixops Podcast interview

He is one of the original miners of BTC. I hope that helps in changing your mind. Ty.
149  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain now requiring KYC documentation to buy hardware on: August 29, 2018, 04:11:41 AM
It has never been clearer why ASIC resistant coins are the way to go.

This is just another step towards Stalinism and away from Satoshis original idea; if miners need to KYC there is no point in crypto anymore. Angry

Yeah, thats why I keep saying to people in the forum to support Burst and Proof of Capacity. Its going to show the community in general that mining using your hard drives is the real democratic way to mine a cryptocurrency because the hardware is cheap and easily bought for everyone.

If you dont like Burst, theres a new cryptocurrency called Chia by Bram Cohen which has the same idea almost.

wex.nz, how do you choose what altcoins to list in your exchange? Do you do your own diligence and research? Are you also open to listen to suggestions from the community? Ty.
before listing we proceed a full economic research

Can you proceed to do a full economic and developmental research on Burst? The coin has a growing community after the Proof of Capacity Consortium has taken over development and stablized the software.

I will leave this for your consideration. Ty.

151  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain now requiring KYC documentation to buy hardware on: August 28, 2018, 04:04:24 AM
if bitcoin or any major cryptocurrency (which use PoW and can be mined with ASIC) community want to change to PoW "resistant" algorithm, that would hurt Bitmain (along with other ASIC manufacture) significantly.
If 51%+ of mining hashrate comes from Bitmain's pool or ASIC, i'm sure there will be boycott attempt.

Smaller coins could relatively easily change their fundamentals, but that's unlikely to happen in Bitcoin's case, especially when there is no reason to do so.

I agree, however the idea PoW algorithm or consensus method change has been around for a while (even though at best it stays as proposal) and IMO Bitmain might be reason if they even have 50%+ on ASIC marketshare.

Bitmain needs Bitcoin, for that single reason they won't ever attempt to directly harm it.

At least for now, even though IMO they indirectly harm Bitcoin.

Anyone know the reasoning behind this?  Buying and selling hardware is hardly the same as what an exchange does.  I'm leery about giving them a copy of my passport.

One reason can be regulatory pressure or the anticipation of regulatory pressure. But this is good for Bitmain mining resellers. They can do the KYC requirements to order the hardware themselves and sell with a margin on everyone who doesnt want to give up their identity.

I'm sure you can't hide your identity just by buy from 3rd party, unless it's done person-to-person (not though marketplace such as eBay).

I wasnt talking about Ebay. But you are right, no one can hide online privacy in full, but you can set up a mining equipment webshop that doesnt ask for KYC/AML documents. If buyers dont want to give up their documents to Bitmain then they have to buy from your webshop.

Thus it turns out that after binding BURST to USD the number of BURST will burn proportionally or I did not understand correctly? Smiley

Correct. You can burn a number of Bursts using the price of the dollar for that day to produce a tethered asset. But the price of Burst in dollars is not stable. Does it mean the value of my tethered asset backed by the burned Bursts will also lose or gain in value? It doesnt make sense unless Bursts are automatically increased or decreased to maintain the dollar peg.

It's a pity until all sad to be patient until better time. Smiley

All our patience will be rewarded in the next bull market. The PoCC has already started the engine. The Burst community has the responsibility to be certain that the car keeps running in a favorable direction.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing the PoC Consortium Stage 2: The Burst Dymaxion on: August 27, 2018, 04:19:49 AM
rico666, there was a hard fork in the Burst blockchain. It was the PoCC nodes and pools that were blacklisted from the main chain because Burst's implementation to fix a bug before that was to blacklist nodes even if they are acting in good faith.

Should all nodes upgrade to BRS 2.2.2 to avoid the risk of forking again? Ty.

BURST releases specifications for a distributed fiat-coupled exchange on its blockchain

AUGUST 17, 2018 - Burst core development team, the PoC Consortium, released its new concept of Tethered Assets: an innovative way to anchor "real-world" values into the blockchain. Tethered Assets are tokens that retain the real value of the fiat currency or commodity they are based on, no matter what. This opens a whole new realm of possibilities with fiat values circulating freely within the Burst blockchain.

Doesnt it also require that Burst should always be stable in one price? What if I burn 1000 Burst to make a tethered USD and 1000 Bursts will be worth 5 tethered USD later? What would happen if I want to convert my tethered USD back to Burst?

jackg, when was the last time that altcoins went up when BTC was  down in a bear market? Ty. All of them have fallen with BTC as far as I have seen in my short time observing the market.
