142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should people invest in bitcoin? on: October 30, 2017, 03:28:47 PM
be part of something big that no single nation, no government will prevent.
be part of a collaborative, consensus driven algorithm and network.
be part of non centralistic world change.
save fees while transfering value

145  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tricky Question, Sell BTC and buy Altcoin? on: October 24, 2017, 09:45:51 PM
btc had its pump the last 3 weeks. next 3 weeks dont expect to much, so yeah, try the altcoin train. but none of those bubble/nofeature/nocommunity coins...
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Gold : Make Bitcoin Decentralized Again on: October 24, 2017, 09:41:08 PM
there are major factors speaking against the btg product.

btg developers are not transparent. they make a snapshot of the BTC chain, but have not all features implemented yet. they have loads of preassigned coins in their code.

Jamie Redman summarize the weakness well in an article (here shortened):
the team does not have a testnet of the network created... the BTG project still implements the same per-block difficulty adjustment as bitcoin (BTC) in its code, and has no signs of an Emergency Difficulty Adjustment (EDA). Additionally, unlike the website’s claims, there is no replay attack protection added to the protocol...

check their github for other scary issues:
only 4 days ago they submitted a bounty to anyone who can provide code for replay protection

and last for all who didnt understand, that this is not a real fork atm:
the few exchanges that are trading Bitcoin Gold are doing so internally. There is no way to mine, send, receive or interact in any way with the Bitcoin Gold chain at the moment.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 24, 2017, 09:08:24 PM

148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x seriously losing support? on: October 21, 2017, 11:46:35 AM
Quote
some members of Pro-segwit2x group are publicly withdrawing their support
yes, i guess supporters realize that bitcoin is on a stable and good lookout now.
transaction fees not increasing, segwit already allowing more tx per day, if people use it.

who needs more btc forks? only high speculating or manipulating people.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: wallet for Ethereum on: October 21, 2017, 11:40:48 AM
I would recommend JAXX-  easy to use and quite safe wallet. private keys are in your hands.
its a multicoin wallet that supports:  btc / eth / bch ...

I used it for 2 month and had no problem on windows.
all incoming outgoing transfers were reliably quick (nice fee calculation).
150  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The KRACK Wi-Fi attack...precautions? on: October 21, 2017, 11:37:29 AM
first of all dont use public wifis atm for sensitive information.
bank account, passwords, money transfers...

2nd check your own router and search for an appropriate update, or simply take a ethernet cable...
151  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you deal with loss? on: October 21, 2017, 11:31:16 AM
>>I think you should always look to fundamentals of the coin that you invest.
>>If the fundamentals are good then the coin will bounce back for sure.
can anyone define what a fundamental in a virtual good is?
user base? trade volume at exchanges? future development of teams? rdy to use?

just invest after the price came down at least 7%. then invest 50% wait 3 days invest 50% and hold...
152  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many Bitcoins are lost forever? on: October 15, 2017, 07:49:14 PM
enough to make an impact to the value. because less coins are in circulation.
hard/software failures. people who forgot keys. people who died. people who didnt care anymore. wrong transaction (with correct address that noone has access to).
lets take a guess. 300.000 btc are gone. number raising every year...
153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading sucks, I'll just hold my coins on: October 15, 2017, 06:39:33 PM
trading is for active people who can stand the pain of loss now and then.
holding is for the majority. hold and wait some years. this strategy works with most stocks too.
154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russian Bitcoin Decision is Piling On on: October 15, 2017, 06:30:25 PM
i think some of you got the wrong impression of what putin really suggested.
he is not banning cryptos. he might want regulations "know your customer" style.

"Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin met with some of his country's most influential financial minds about adopting a more open view of cryptocurrencies. Putin doesn't want any "unnecessary barriers" to be placed in the way"

155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is buying bitcoin and crypto on: October 15, 2017, 06:21:22 PM
Both groups buy bitcoin. educated and uneducated. but most of them do speculative buys (hold and wait for higher price). its not really need driven. only in countries like venezuela there is a need for a substitute of fiat.

then there is the group of central bank haters. they have a strong reason to buy into some alternative form too.

then there is the group of early adapters. people who try a lot of things that a new and that "might" change the world.

then there is the group of IT and Crypto believers....
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC or BCC or BTG on: October 15, 2017, 06:08:01 PM
noone needs those forks. already 700 alternative cryptocurrencies existing. some of them do really distinguish from btc. all forks that come in the last month are "money" makers for subgroups. i doubt they will be here in the long run.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which equipment to start mining on: October 12, 2017, 03:35:37 PM
pos in ethereum will come in slices. they call it transition where pos n pow will be used together. a real date is hard to predict.
158  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Check out my new project for price alerts on: October 12, 2017, 03:25:08 PM
i like the customizable alert. which communication channels will you support? irc, sms, email others
159  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Good news to bitcoin traders. on: October 12, 2017, 10:35:51 AM
does anyone have information how strict russia is planning to regulate btc? shut down exchanges too?
i think trading will stay exciting. noone knows which country is acting next. and how these action affects btc.
160  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What is the most important in a cryptocurrency project? on: October 11, 2017, 10:42:43 AM
some important points:
have a strong vision and good communication
have a team that supports the vision and is commited
connect to other startups/organisations
be unique. try to write down the unique selling points as short and precise as possible
understand your competitors
