Im really surprised how new this coin is and how many pages there already is. Most new coins really dont have anything in comparison, there must be a ton of interest. I joined the signature campaign today, looking forward to being in it until it ends.

What is interesting about your comment is to understand why the thread gets that many pages.

It's all about "marketing" and creating imaginative ways to entice the community to write and participate.
Here you have an innovative way to do that:
- If you want to get the airdrop, you have to post 10 posts a week
- The aforementioned posts have to be constructive and above 100 characters.
- If you spam or write useless comments, you get blacklisted.

As we all see the potential of the project, being enticed by these measures, you start to activiely posts on the thread.
Once you take the habit of doing so, curiosity and momentum is being generated. You just want to interact and participate!

This is not just an airdrop where you fill the prerequisites and forget about it (probably the main reason why most airdrops are useless).

pretty cool huh?
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Neo(Antshares) replacing Ethereum on: July 29, 2017, 09:55:46 AM
antshares(neo) will be more effective in china than ethereum. but it does take a long time. as putin and russia support ethereum, china will support antshares(neo).

Only difference is that the chinese are so much more numerous. When their project kicks in and the whole country goes crazy for ANS the same way they went crazy for bitcoin....

I also agree that Ether has been around for a while and is kind of in the mind of everyone. That emotional print is hard to erase.
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 3rd Round Agu 4 on: July 29, 2017, 09:51:30 AM
Well but a coin running through TOR is definitely worse than a coin like ZCASH in terms of anonymity.

These are two completely different things. I don't think you understand what TOR and Zcash mean.

TOR is a network level security, it hides your IP address, so people can not locate you while you have your wallet client connected to the network. Your transactions can still be traced on the blockchain with your wallet addresses.

Zcash hides the trace on the blockchain. Your coins on the wallet can be generated from completely unknown addresses so no one can link them to your wallet address. But the connection to the network is not protected, your peers will see your IP address.

DeepOnion is planning something called DeepSend which is to hide the traces of the transaction in the blockchain, it is some sort of mixing service with the wallet I guess which will further enhance the security of DeepOnion.

Wow that explanation on its own alloed me to fully understand the difference. Having all traces erased from the blockchain AND the net is the best of security one can imagine!
I'd recommend the team to implement an explanation similarly (expressed a similar way) in the description. That along with the roadmap can easily make us understand the true concept and power of DeepOnion!

To those pushing to list DeepOninon on an Exchange look at it like this.

We have a working product,
A growing and active community,
Active devs that never miss replying to any questions and posts whether its here or on the other social forums.
True transparency in the distribution of the coins.
Vote Central - WIP - To be announced when ready
DeepSend - WIP - To be announce when ready
Only 2 million can be mined

Not a single cent was asked from the community but only their loyalty and to participate and promote DeepOnion. This is a true community driven project, the longer it takes for this to be listed the more mature product we will have when it does, in hindsight will make DeepOnion even more desirable and push its value long term.

Now its probably known that basically every new project in the ANN is crowd sale or ICO which require millions just to start a project with no working product on release just tokens which can be sold on the exchange driving the price down of below ICO price. Now in contrast look at this little gem we have and see its value for what its worth.

My vote as one of the best POW/POS coin projects listed for 2017, if you in it for the long haul just be patient.

ALl of what you have said is simply the best reason to have the project on the exchanges, and probably easy to convince the owners.
Having a working product and a community behind it, is on its own legitimate enough.

Lately, ICOs have gone crazy, even more so when the project is only on paper. While raising money at that stage is important, raisong tens of millions is pure fantasy.

Well done devs!

P.S : we seem to have been given different amounts of coins throughout people. One of my friend got 569+12 while I received 476. Is there a particular reason to that? (maybe something happened that I should correct)
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ICO!!! on: July 28, 2017, 08:08:17 AM
Some important point that may be interesting to state:

I've seen a lot of people crying for scam, but when you look deeper, you only see suspicions, interpretations, allegations and stuff.
In this topic, are you gonna state "alleged scams" or "officially confirmed scams"?

146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 28, 2017, 08:02:54 AM
I want ask when this coin is going to be listed on exchange, there is lot of hype behind this project and when it becomes successful this will be huge for those that joined the community early. But i have a feeling the Dark market is getting endangered especially with the recent exposure of Alpha and the link to BTC-E

Well like you said it, authorities are coming hard on the dark market, and dark market alone. You know, platform where stolen or illegal stuff are being exchanged, extorted bitcoins are things like this.
I might argue that DeepOnion has nothing to do with that. The privacy features does not make it "dark" but simply private.

You also have events like the SEC taking a look at ICOs, showing that this model will probably soon enter a regulating phase.
Do you see the power of DeepOnion here?
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TIMEREUM (TME): First manually mined smart contract token. on: July 27, 2017, 08:52:02 PM
Going in the right direction as it may seem!
What about bittrex? the fees are not that high either

Sometimes I just don't get people,

You invested in a very promising project. All this means that only patience will make you guys able to profit from it.
The team got hacked and lost a big chunk of the investment. As a reply they say there will be no consequences for us.

If we put ourselves in their shoes, i can just imagine how they feel. But they also have the job to be done so life goes on, and they have to deliver the project, for themselves as well as for us.

Why the fuck wouldn't everyone just cut them some slack, give them room to get their emotional balance again in order to make the best of work?

Do you trust the project? do you feel how awesome it will be? Then just calm the fuck down and breathe...
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 27, 2017, 06:17:47 PM
Regarding the mining process, i would only have a regular computer (about average capacity). Is it worth to mine it or would it be a waste of time without ASICS level gear?

Well, nobody can tell you that, since coin is not listed in any exchange. Until trading begins, his current value is 0

The question was not related to the profitability of mining, but more about the mining speed with a computer such as mine, regarding mining with ASICS.

If they mine like 10 coins for 1 of mine, then the ratio is not really interesting XD.
As I said, I'm here for long term so not really looking for profits as of now.

I guess I am gonna have to test it and see for myself!

@crypto-rainbow
I just submitted DeepOnion to Cryptocompare. Hopefully they will add it soon.
If this action return us some good PR we can deliver some ONIONs from bounty wallet
You can open new thread there everytime https://deeponion.org/community/forums/fund-my-deeponion-project.28/
Let the dev team members reward your contribution!

Thanks a lot for that, it took me some 15 mins so not too much effort but I try what I can. I will get back to you when there are news on the matter.

Another q, to participate in the bounty it says accounts created after 12th of July are not eligible, I joined here on that day so I assume I can participate then? Just need Jr. Member status first.

YES YOU CAN. Also invite people you know who registered before 12 JUL to the Airdrops. We want to reach 1000 people and do it very fast!

It just tells me: accepted.
Which is cool enough, I guess.
Yes you can be paid tomorrow!!

So to summarize the full size and content of the airdrop :

Let's assume you have 1000 people every week for the next 40 weeks, and that you want to disperse 12 millions coins.
Am I right to assume that is an average of :

-300 coins per person
- Around 11k coins in total assuming the same 1000 people get the coins
- You have to keep 90 % of the total amount on the wallet for the entire duration of the airdrop or else, disqualified for future airdrops.

Is there going to be a cap on the number of people participating?

The amount of coins is different week by week in the airdrop. Starting with 100k per week ending at 400k per week. The odds of 1000 people making it through TEN MONTHS of bounty qualifications especially once DeepOnion hits an exchange is very weak. I don't see more than 1000 people any week being actually qualified even with a cap.

Allright, Seems a fair number and actually yeah, 1000 people a week making 10 posts would be a gigantic mess XD.
So the fixed number is the amount of coins per week given.

Regarding the mining process, i would only have a regular computer (about average capacity). Is it worth to mine it or would it be a waste of time without ASICS level gear?

I'd also say to wait around the 1 of august to see the market reaction. Seems to me that prices have every reason to continue the downtrend (bitcoin UASF, ether hacks..) until some support are tested and validated.

I'd probably wait a few days!
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 27, 2017, 01:42:53 PM
Shocked Wow, 200 pages. When I signed up for this, I never thought that this project would get all the attention that it's currently amassing. There's going to be a lot more attention coming. 39 weeks of airdrops left and more technical features will surely bring in more skeptics and haters. Hopefully the dev and his team will stay committed to the roadmap.  Smiley

yes this is amazing. partial reason is that there are so many stupid ICOs that really polluted this forum. This one without ICO attracted a lot attentions.

Yep the ICO market is almost all scams right now.  Projects trying to raise 100M with a whitepaper and no working product.  What happened to earning your valuation and growing organically? Now a days it's big teams cobbled together with heavy marketing to try to raise as much ETH/BTC as possible and sell into fiat.  I feel like the timing of this project and airdrop is perfect.
I personally think ICO's should not be allowed, it is like creating and having people pay full price for a software or game package that is not complete, they just add more to it as they get ideas to keep the crowd happy. This project is how all projects should be, FAIR and COMPLETE....

I don't agree fully with that approach. Raising money is mandatory to fully hire the competent people and develop the project. The problem with current ICO's is not that the project is inexistant (in the startup world, reaching out for funds to create the MVP).

The problem to me is the uncapped ICO. You certainly don't need 100M+ $ to fund the project and moreover, once as a team you have this much money, why thefuck wouldyou work your ass off to make it a reality?
A cap around several millions is already enough to fully fund a project for the years to come, and all those who missed the opportunity will be there at launch, boosting demand and driving the price up.

The current model with 10 of millions make it basically useless to participate in an ICO..Everyone dump at launch anyway..
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 27, 2017, 01:36:23 PM
I was curious to ask everyone what their project is regarding the coins.
I personally intend to keep them for quite a while, almost like forgetting about them and let the project run it's course.

Probably around a full year or more. The staking opportunity looks also quite some perspective to grow the coin capital.
Also gonna gowith mining the coin to get familiar with the process and have some more!

How about you guys?
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How did you guys ride out the last bitcoin/altcoin "crash"? on: July 26, 2017, 09:25:49 PM
Same here,

In these times, holding what I have and pouring more money in to profit from the opportunity. Waiting for a nice entry point!
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which altcoin are you holding for Aug 1 on: July 26, 2017, 09:22:36 PM
Holding quite an amount of KMD, some NMR too.
Greatly affected by the UASF, kind of eager for this madness to stop to get them back on track XD
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 26, 2017, 09:20:55 PM
Hi guys. Can someone tell me if I can mine with a processor?

I have this model: AMD FX (tm) - 6300 Six - Core Processor 3.50 Ghz

I think I can´t do nothing, but I don´t lose nothing by asking  Grin

Thanks.

No, this coin is being mined by ASICs already. Processors do not have a chance, GPUs barely have a chance.

Is that a verified fact? When you say that CPUs don't have a chance, that means you won't get any coins or only that it will be slow as fuck?
Kind of new in the mining domain also, and would go with CPU to start with.

Slow as fuck would not bother me but if I get 0 coins, that would be unfortunate...
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 26, 2017, 09:16:40 PM
I just joined this campaign and am excited to have read what I have regarding the potential of this altcoin. Especially considering what we have been reading lately regarding law enforcement cracking down on the dark web and mixers being under scrutiny like never before. This has opened a huge hole that deep onion can fill.

Gunna sit back and enjoy the ride, see you on the community forum.

Totally agree with you, with the recent alphabay news, the dark web marketplaces are going down one by one.
Also the SEC is taking a deep interest to start regulating ICOs.

However, a project like DeepOnion focusing on our privacy is greatly appreciated!

But don't just sit back and do nothing, you gotta do the weekly quota of 10 posts if you want the airdrop to happen!
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DeepOnion TOR Integrated, No ICO/Crowdfund, Free Airdrop 2nd Round Jul 28 on: July 26, 2017, 07:45:56 PM
I also think that exchange is no need for now.
When this coin hit exchange, miners will dump their coins and price would go down. On the other hand
it should be listed on some leading exchange for more users to see and buy this coin, that
will push price up.
Its better to wait couple of weeks at least 10 airdrops and then list it on exchange. But its up to dev-s what will they do.

I will hold whatever i get from airdrop and wont sell it in near future. I believe in this coin and all other should believe too.

Hala onion  Cool

Not exactly sure why the miners would dump their coins right after launch on the exchange.
Some would probably, but then others would be buy them. Being registered on a major exchange is always good publicity and sign of presence in the cryptoworld. But doing it too soon is not necessarily a good thing!

Let us be patient and support the devs in this awesome project!

Anyone involved here knows this is longer term. let's build up the community and help in every way we can
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [IXT] InsureX - blockchain-secured marketplace for Insurance on: July 25, 2017, 10:37:14 PM
Attracting the attention of other user to pour money into this is not a matter of days people..
You have invested in the coin, then sit on it and wait.

There is also the possibility of helping the team of course, but that is matter of choice.

A price increase is not an objective but a consequence of adoption.
