1401  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Private Poker Tournament @ SwC Poker on March 15th. COME PLAY! on: March 15, 2020, 01:25:21 PM
I have played some Cash Game in the last days to unlock the chat feature and get accustomed to the UI. Saw Iv4n on the tables making big money Grin Software/Connection is very stable, suffered no lags or disconnection. The button arrangement is a bit strange in web version, since they are positioned left hand. And the chat window is overlapping with the table, which is inconvenient:

I would recommend using the client for playing, since this is more like one is used to in other poker sites.

Unfortunately there is not a lof players. Tried to play a Sit&Go, but it takes ages to fill up Tongue
1402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] - The 2020 UEFA European Football Championship on: March 15, 2020, 12:28:47 PM
There's already a Euro 2020 thread... that's started from the qualifying. Can we keep the discussions to like that one thread so we don't make more threads for more of those spammers like Naida_BR (I can't believe I already have his name imprinted on my brain!).

The thread you mentioned is unfortunately not self-moderated and I don't like to scroll through 20 shitposts to find a valuable one Wink So I will keep this thread (open) for more serious, non-spammy discussions by deleting all spam and everyone, who is interested in such conversations, can feel free to contribute here. I consider the other thread for those users you mentioned and if I am only talking to myself in here, so be it Grin

This board needs some overhaul anyway, because the amount of shitposts is just unbearable. So I think it's fine to have two seperate threads for the same event - one for spam posts and one for more quality-oriented posts. Unless the mods decide to go a different route of course and only allow one thread per event Wink If the good posters, and there is quite a lot of them in the gambling section, are able to discuss their passion in a non-spammy environment, that is already a win in my book. There is still hope for the gambling board to not have the same fate as the Altcoin boards.
1403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] - The 2020 UEFA European Football Championship on: March 15, 2020, 11:45:51 AM
Those Playoff games will surely be postponed until further notice and now some journalist on german TV said, that UEFA will announce on Tuesday, that the Euro 2020 will be held in 2021 with all locations etc. staying the same. For Champions League there will most likely be some kind of Top8 tournament, where the teams meet in some city (he was talking about Istanbul Huh) and fight out the winner in knockout format during one week. Same will then go for Europa League maybe.
1404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: March 15, 2020, 11:36:19 AM
Looks like the 2020 NFL Draft is in danger to be postponed and also Free Agency is being discussed about. With all sports more or less on hold, I have to admit, I am a bit bored and was really looking forward to have at least FA to cheer me up. With some hope left, I had a look at the cap space from each team at spotrac:

Quote
Tampa Bay Buccaneers    $84,329,175
Miami Dolphins    $83,364,774
Indianapolis Colts    $80,017,492
New York Giants    $76,735,896
Buffalo Bills    $75,859,551
Dallas Cowboys    $71,839,128
Tennessee Titans    $64,149,521
Cleveland Browns    $63,817,140
Las Vegas Raiders    $56,297,302
Cincinnati Bengals    $55,460,642
Los Angeles Chargers    $54,678,772
New York Jets    $53,082,397
Seattle Seahawks    $52,813,260
Houston Texans    $49,320,776
Detroit Lions    $44,365,888
Philadelphia Eagles    $42,385,150
Washington Redskins    $42,013,010
New England Patriots    $41,424,477
Arizona Cardinals    $38,740,295
Denver Broncos    $36,227,518
Green Bay Packers    $24,977,139
Chicago Bears    $24,471,679
Carolina Panthers    $23,122,965
Baltimore Ravens    $21,973,536
Los Angeles Rams    $21,757,389
Minnesota Vikings    $20,069,056
Kansas City Chiefs    $16,655,495
Jacksonville Jaguars    $13,243,254
San Francisco 49ers    $11,687,819
New Orleans Saints    $9,752,100
Atlanta Falcons    $3,075,672
Pittsburgh Steelers    $-8,301,176

From what I read, Bruce Arians is very interested in getting Tom Brady and TB certainly has some cap space available. Should be interesting what trades and signings will be made and tbh I find FA way more interesting than the draft, because apart from a few players, I am not very familiar with those gazillions of college players.

It's interesting thing about Freiburg pitch, for me it's strange that's allowed on such big level competition.

It's actually not the only issue with the Schwarzwaldstadion in Freiburg Grin Their pitch is officially too short for the official Bundesliga rules. It's 4.5 meters short - needs to be at least 105 meters, but theirs is only 100.5 meters. They play with a special permit for years already. But they are building a new stadium right now, which is ready for next season and everything will be fine there Smiley

Out of curiosity I have looked for the different pitch sizes and found some information here:

Quote
Some other popular stadium pitch sizes are as follows:

Anfield – 100 yards by 74 yards (101m x 68m)
Camp Nou – 114 yards by 74 yards (105m x 68m)
Emirates Stadium –115 yards by 74 yards (105m x 68m)
Etihad Stadium – 115 yards by 74 yards (105m x 68m)
Old Trafford – 116 yards by 76 yards (106m x 69m)
Stamford Bridge – 112 yards by 73 yards (103m x 67m)
White Hart Lane – 109 yards by 73 yards (100m x 67m)

So while Camp Nou is big-ish, there are other pitches with the same size or even bigger (Old Trafford). The difference to f.e. Anfield might not look big on paper, but makes quite a difference in reality imo. It's 272m² more to cover.

In some leagues, like in my country, several teams play on artificial turfs - it's huge advantage against teams which play and prepare for the game on natural grass.

Yes, good point. While the teams in Lithuania probably are used to change between artificial/natural grass by now, I remember some discussions regarding the Europa League, when teams that always play on natural grass had to go for an away game and play on artificial turf there. If I am not mistaken, there are some teams from Switzerland and Norway that play on artificial turf and were participants in Europa League in the past.
1406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] There is more to Home Advantage than just Fans on: March 14, 2020, 07:36:01 PM
The second article lists a lot of factors which influence home advantage. According to this article the so called "Referee Bias" is the most influental factor on home team advantage:

Quote
There is overwhelming evidence that referees decisions are biased towards the home team. Moskowitz and Wertheim (2012) found that the referee was the most influential factor on home advantage, and that home teams gained a small bias from the referee. They did make it clear that this is not done consciously, instead, the referees were affected subconsciously by the emotion of a home crowd.

Interesting, thanks. Refs are also always a little biased towards the bigger, more well-known players/teams (without me having any data to back that up). Like for example, if Ronaldo gets tackled, the ref is more likely to blow the whistle, than when a 19-year old scrub gets tackled. As for the article mentioned above, now that I think of it, it definitely makes sense. I guess this is especially valid for possibly game-changing incidents like penalties, free-kicks near the box, handball etc. When 50,000 people scream "hand", the ref might be urged more to give a penalty for example. But with the introduction of VAR, this maybe does not have such a big impact anymore, since everything is reviewed.

I would also claim, that a ref is more likely to give a foul, when the fouled player is screaming loud and doing some Hollywood afterwards - even if there was no foul at all. Would be interested in some analysis about that Grin
1407  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Private Poker Tournament @ SwC Poker on March 15th. COME PLAY! on: March 14, 2020, 10:18:57 AM
Just wondering, is it okay to enter with multiple account? Might worth a shot for some people to go with multiple account instead of one

This is a private fun tournament and though some money is involved, this is not supposed to be an event to just look for your own financial benefits. You can think of it as kind of socialzing in times of social distancing due to Corona Grin So you can judge for yourself, if it's appropriate to join with multiple accounts Wink

I will play this tournament. Waiting for password figmentofmyass.

Password will get posted in here tomorrow, if you don't get the password sent via PM by then.

1408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 13, 2020, 07:29:04 PM
Russian? Are you sure? It tastes like latin american music Grin

It's definitely a very special and unique song and has over 6mln views within 24 hours Shocked

Eurovision Youtube Channel has added official videos for all countries except Albania now, which still only has a version with lyrics; guess they are still producing something after changing/modifying the song. Here is a video with a short summary of all songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkUbBsdwQvU

Here are some stats from Youtube ESC channel with views, up- and downvotes. Those Russia numbers are insane, but is has to be taken into account, that people watch their own entry the most. Lithuania and Georgia have best up-/downvote ratio and Czech Republic the worst.

Here are the odds as of March 13th 2020, taken from Bet365:

If you want to bet on some underdog, you will find way better odds elsewhere (Slovenia @760 f.e.). Quite some discrepancies sometimes between the Youtube numbers and the odds - thats the hard thing to figure out when betting. And Youtube isn't of course the only source you should look at. It just gives an idea, but more research has to be done before placing bets.

1410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Coronavirus and it’s impact on sporting events - please add on: March 13, 2020, 04:04:13 PM
Here’s a couple of websites which are pretty comprehensive

Maybe the other way round would do better - just list all the sports/leagues, that are still running Grin From the sports I follow (a bit), only Snooker is still running. In cycling, Paris-Nice is still going, but most of the upcoming races have been cancelled as well. This will be some boring upcoming weeks, but on a positive note, once everything starts to resume again, we will have a very busy schedule. Every day will be full of sports to watch and bet on.
1411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] There is more to Home Advantage than just Fans on: March 13, 2020, 03:57:10 PM
But I guess there are times that it would put a lot of pressure to the players because they know that there are so many people out there who expects them to win.

That is definitely true. Playing in front of your home crowd puts some additional pressure on you, but this is clearly outweighed by all the positive aspects home advantage brings.
I remember tennis player Samantha Stosur, who was Top10 player for several years. Now in tennis, there is not that much of an home advantage, since a lot of advantages don't apply here (it's really mostly the fans), but Stosur was always a nerve wreck when playing at her home Grand Slam in Melbourne. She just couldn't handle the pressure with all the Aussies expecting her to go deep and/or even win the tournament.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha_Stosur

She also did pretty poor at Wimbledon, which is a surprise regarding her playing style and Aussies normally doing very well on grass, but this is another story.

To be honest I don't really believe in home advantage it all goes down to the skills, physical and mental health of the players.

You can't deny the fact, that there is the factor home advantage. Just look at the records for Football, Handball, Basketball, Icehockey etc teams. 95% of them do better at home than they do in away games. When Liverpool plays ManCity at home, they definitely have higher chances of winning than playing @ManCity.
1412  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: March 13, 2020, 12:06:58 AM
The UEFA is really creating a mess here, with allowing games to be postponed/played and not interfering. Whoever wins the Europa League/Champions League, will surely have an asterisk next to their name. Some teams will already be in QF, while others still have to play two rounds of R16. And I don't see how these postponed games should fit into the schedule, when domestic leagues are suspended too and you have to catch up there as well. Poor millionarios would maybe have to play 4 games a week and we all know, that his is not possible for them Roll Eyes

I think postponing the Euro 2020 is something the UEFA is not really thinking about, there is too much money at stake. But it would be the best thing to do imo, to give some breathing room to the leagues and CL/EL. Just cancel that silly Nations Cup and play the Euro in 2021 then.
1413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 12, 2020, 11:49:41 PM
Really strange why they would want to promote four teams from 2. Bundesliga to Bundesliga, instead of just two, makes no sense to me (they are probably afraid of Stuttgart/Hamburg fans burning down the DFB headquarters). Would also cause some bigger domino effect into the lower leagues. But you never know with these old men running the DFB/DFL. Already looking forward to all the discussions, if this really happens. Lets hope Uli Hoeneß will make a live-call into the Check24 Doppelpass and rant about that Grin
1414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 12, 2020, 10:42:34 PM
So here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_dWvTCdDQ4

I would have expected a little bit more tbh. Stage performance will be something to watch out for, but the song itself, hmm. Odds have gone up a bit. Already 150k+ views 38 minutes after the video was uploaded is huge though.

We finally have all songs now Smiley
1415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 12, 2020, 06:39:58 PM
Unfortunately Betfair is forbidden in my country. But if you see some other platforms offering those kind of bets (H2H etc) feel free to report them here.

Betfair is geo-restricted here too, but there are workarounds with white-label exchanges. Probably not worth it though, if you are fun bettor or only play with small stakes (no offense meant here). Will post as soon as I find markets on "normal" bookies.

Does anyone know when Russia will release their song - I only saw little part of it leaked on Youtube.

It was said to be announced today, but it's already late-ish in Russia now and I haven't seen anything official Roll Eyes
1416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Coronavirus and it’s impact on sporting events - please add on: March 12, 2020, 03:40:54 PM
Great thread, but you should format it a bit and/or put some tables in and divide between countries or sports to make it more clear. I have lost of track of what is cancelled until now and for how long etc. In the end I would think that everything gets cancelled until further notice, but even then, we would at least have a table, where we could put the dates in when certain leagues/sports are expected to resume again - if ever Wink
1417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 12, 2020, 11:04:45 AM
Yeah its not looking good for tennis with the corona virus, its okay if the smaller tournaments are cancelled however some players use these tournaments to help get them fit ready for the bigger tournaments and grand slams.

It's especially bad for the lower-ranked players money-wise. They are kind of self-employed and have some staff to pay. These players often live from paycheck to paycheck and with all tournaments cancelled, they won't earn any money for weeks/months. Their travel expenses will also be less, but some fixed costs remain. No problem for ~Top70 players, but everyone else will surely be worried.
1418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 11, 2020, 06:53:10 PM
The same discussion in Germany, or only games without fans?

I think they should just cancel all games, because watching Gladbach - Köln right now is just utterly boring without spectators. It's like watching some friendly match during winter break in Malaga Cheesy They should just record some chants and play them over the speakers or put some music in the stadium, because this is unwatchable Cheesy I'd rather watch no football at all then.
1419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 11, 2020, 03:57:20 PM
There is a platform with H2H bets on Eurovision?

I am not sure, what the crypto books will be offering, but the FIAT bookies always have a lot of betting markets for ESC. In the past this included H2H bets, group bets, finishing Top10/Top5/Top3/last, over/under points and finishing position for countries, jury winner, televoting winner and basically anything you can think of. The inplay market at Betfair is going nuts once the points announcements start -  prices going up and down like crazy then.
A thing that is always very funny, is, when the first country announces their points from televoting. The odds for the country they give their 12 points to, will drop like crazy. And if those 12 points are maybe some friendly points (Cyprus giving 12 points to Greece), this is insane to watch, because it doesn't reflect the voting reality. But there are a lot of traders in this market and they will look to buy high and sell low.

If this Corona virus keeps on spreading like it does, especially in the Netherlands, I fear it might have some effect on the ESC as well. Lets hope the peak is reached soon and everything gets more under control afterwards.
1420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] There is more to Home Advantage than just Fans on: March 11, 2020, 03:41:38 PM
Yes, good points. My little list is of course not exhaustive, there are lots of other points and each sport probably has its own little details that add to home advantage. So everyone feel free to share your thoughts. I know most sports or watched them at least once in my life, but for example Cricket is something, that I have no, really no, idea about. So would be interested to hear, if in Cricket there are certain things, that add to home advantage.

1. On International games you are not going to suffer from Jet lag which can be a real issue especially when you are trying to perform at the highest level possible.

Yes, this could maybe be included in travel stress in general, but I have to admit, that I didn't have that one in mind. In Europe this is not that much of an issue, but already in the US when travelling from one coast to the other, it can be important (f.e. the NFL west coast teams playing at 1pm at the east coast). I remember, when Vladivostok was in Russian Premier League and the mostly in West Russia located teams had to travel there. It was a) a huge travel and b) some hours time difference. And vice versa, the Vladivostok team had to basically go on a world trip every two weeks for their away games Cheesy

2. Depending on the game there are different sizes the field may have and still fall under the rules, so playing at home gives you advantage in the sense that you know perfectly the size of the field while the visitor may make several mistakes because the field is bigger or smaller than their own.

I know Barca has a huge pitch. It was intentionally designed as big as possbile to suit the playing style of them. In german Bundesliga you have Freiburg and the pitch in their stadium has some gradient (it's around 1m iirc), so for one half you would always have to play a uphill a bit.

3. The weather can be a big influence in the games especially if there is some kind of condition that the opposite team is not used to experimenting, for example teams that play in a warm weather may have problems playing in colder weather.

Yep, we can witness that very well every year in NFL. Carr doesn't like to play in cold weather f.e. and going to Foxborough or Lambeau in January is even more of a problem for a lot of teams than it normally is anyway.

4. The sea level can be a huge factor as well if it is really high and visiting players come from a place that is near the sea level, if the sport uses a ball then the ball will have a tendency to travel farther away and visiting players will experience fatigue faster due to the reduced levels of oxygen.

In the Copa Libertadores you have these teams from Ecuador (?) and Bolivia that have a huge home advantage, because they play on 3,000m+ altitude. It's extremely hard, even for way superior teams on paper, to play there, because they are just not used to it and struggle like crazy with their breathing.
