I'd correct it to before the England won the toss. Had Pakistan won the toss, we might have seen glorious innings from Fakhar Zaman again, because they'd surely tried to give 400+ target then.

In order for Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals, there were multiple requisites. First of all, they needed a huge score on board. In case they somehow made a total of around 400, that alone would not have guaranteed their entry the semi-finals. In order to qualify, they needed a win margin of 287 runs. That means that in case Pakistan made 400 batting first, they had to get England out for a total 113, in order to get their net run rate above that of New Zealand. Anyway, in the end none of this happened.

The first semi-final between New Zealand and India will be held today. Today's match is going to be a high-voltage match. Today's match is very important for both teams. Both the teams will want to play their best to secure the final. If we talk about the 2019 World Cup...
Today is the second most important day for the cricket fans. The two biggest and UN beatable teams almost will face each other and don't know who will win this match. Both the team will drop their best players to the ground and utilize their full energy to win this match. And yeah it's a moment for the team to qualify for the semi-final because they played and did hard work to win matches and reach here if they lose here then all of their efforts will be useless and no one will want this. One will lose and one will win today's match but the curiosity here is who will win. I think the Indians will win because they are playing on home ground and also there are huge crowds that will support them and put some pressure on the New Zealand team.
Best wishes for both teams.

Unbeatable? Well India is unbeatable with 9 wins from 9 matches. But New Zealand actually struggled to qualify for the semi-finals after losing crucial matches. They only won 5 out of a total of 9 matches. And before winning their last group stage match against Sri Lanka, New Zealand actually lost 4 matches consecutively (including those against South Africa and Pakistan). India will be the overwhelming favorites for today's match and New Zealand can hope for a miracle only if they win the toss and everything else goes in their favor.

Of course, every team always has a sniper in every tournament who is capable of creating problems for the opposing team, but unfortunately such a sniper is sorely lacking in the current team. Absence of quality spinner along with absence of quality fast bowling was the main reason for Pakistan's failure. I think we should look for new spinners to replace an old player who can represent Pakistan for the next few years.

All teams in the world give a chance to develop new talent after a few years and even experienced players have a certain period after which they give way to new talent, but unfortunately there is no opportunity to develop new talent in Pakistan.i think Shoaib Malik is basically a batsman, you have mentioned his score average and total runs, but his number of matches is also very high. He is not a good spinner but was used only for part-time bowling.

Pakistan is out of the ODI World Cup, and they need to focus on the T20I World Cup now. The tournament is going to start in around 6 months from now, so they don't have much time to prepare for it. If they include Shoaib Malik in the squad right now, then it will give him enough time to get adjusted with the team structure. But I agree with your post that he is more of a batting allrounder. Even then, his experience will come in handy and his presence will be a big boost for the struggling Pakistani middle order.

No doubt, Pakistan played not well in last match against England but in my opinion if Pakistan team won against South Africa then
momentum could shift towards Pakistani team .Before the England match, Pakistani team knew ,they are out of the World cup , so they don't gave their 110 percent. If Pakistan won against South Africa, Pakistan could qualify for Semi final. But in my opinion, Pakistani team is not deserving team to play Semi final.  Tomorrow match is very interesting,India is favorite but New Zealand has also weapons to lose India.

Pakistan started relatively well in the tournament, but they were unable to win against the pig-4 sides. They won against New Zealand, but that was mostly due to luck. New Zealand scored 401 and even then they lost because of DLS. Without this win, Pakistan would have been in a pathetic position in the points table (by the time they won, Pakistan had a win probability of 12% or so in that match). As I mentioned previously, the players were not focusing on the game. Rather than doing that they were mostly focusing on various controversies.
1405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 15, 2023, 02:12:02 AM
I also hope that Croatia will have to perform optimally in the last 2 matches in order to qualify for the next round. I'm sure Croatia still has a chance to qualify next, indeed their opponents are very determined to appear at the German Euro later. Of course, this group will be very exciting in fighting for their team to qualify next. The reason is that Wales will go all out in the last 2 matches even though the last match was a bit tough against Turkey.

The equation is very simple. If Wales can defeat Turkey, then there is a good chance that they will qualify. On the other hand, Croatia has better chances. But I was never expecting this group to be so tight. After Croatia's splendid performance during Qatar 2022, I was expecting them to top the group. However they are trailing at the 3rd position right now. And remember that Wales is very inexperienced squad, without Gareth Bale (he announced his retirement after the 2022 FIFA World Cup).
1406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: November 14, 2023, 01:19:05 PM
I'm really interested to see how Wales will do in Armenia. Armenia won 4-2 in Wales, and if they manage to do so again it will mean a great deal for Croatia's direct qualification.
Wales's got everything in their own hands for now - but they also have to win against Turkey (the group's leader) in the last round.

I still can't believe we've lost 2 games in a row. I don't recall when it happened to us in qualifiers. I just hope there won't be some surprises in Latvia.

The problem for Wales is that their last match is against Turkey. So Croatia has a higher chance of qualifying to the main tournament. For Croatia, the remaining matches are against Latvia and Armenia. But who knows? Anything can happen. For now, only Turkey is guaranteed of a slot in the main tournament. It is still possible for Wales to qualify, only if they can defeat Turkey. Given the sort of form Turkey is in right now, I believe that it is an almost impossible task. Anyway, the picture will be clear by 21st November.
1407  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: November 14, 2023, 12:34:54 PM
@Sithara007 what happened with Neymar was pure bad luck but I’m hoping that he’ll come back stronger because this is not a very demanding league and he can definitely thrive here. Also buying in the January transfer window doesn’t make much sense as they’ll be overpaying for their targets hence I hope that they will spend wisely by waiting for the summer transfer window.

Neymar is not going to come back to Saudi Arabia. You know that, right? He has been deregistered by Al Hilal and he has already flown back to Brazil. And I don't think that he will ever again get an offer from any of the Saudi clubs, after what he did to Al Hilal. Saudis will be very cautious now. For Al Hilal, there is a need to fill the vacuum left by Neymar, although Aleksandar Mitrović has been performing exceptionally well for them. I have a feeling that the replacement will be neither Osimhen nor Salah, but some less fancied player.
1408  Economy / Economics / Re: Boycotting iSrAEl's product? think again. on: November 14, 2023, 12:23:05 PM
This is just ridiculous. If people want to boycott Israeli products, then they can target items such as wines from the Psagot Winery (grown by West Bank settlers) and Qumranet (software company founded by Benny Schnaider, headquartered in Raanana, Israel). Including brands such as Starbucks and McDonald's, just because they don't want to pick a side in the ongoing conflict is outright ridiculous. This is not going to achieve anything. If you push too hard, then these brands will just shut down their businesses in Muslim nations and a lot of people are going to lose their jobs.

India lost in the semi-final against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. So they will try to reach the final by defeating New Zealand on the 15th. Every player in India is in form Rohit Sharma Virat Kohli Sammang Gill all of them are batting well. Great things to say Md Siraj Sami Jadeja Bhomra among them strong bowling. So it is expected that the Indian team will try to reach the final by playing the best against New Zealand in the semi-final. But it feels very bad for New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, they have played the final in 2019 World Cup consecutively but could not win the cup. Kane Williamson this may be his last World Cup, so those who are fans of Williamson will definitely want this World Cup to be in his hands. Now let's see who makes it to the final after all the speculation ends on the 15th.

New Zealand is still struggling to perform under Indian conditions. They are still overdependent on their pacers (especially Trent Boult) as their spinners (apart from Mitchell Santner) are not taking wickets. Surprisingly they are doing quite well in the batting department despite the absence of Kane Williamson. Rachin Ravindra have been the find of the tournament for them and he is being ably supported by Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway. But till, this won't be able to get past the Indians, who are simply looking invincible as of now.

Yeah even neymar was coming with a new look after ACL surgery. It seems like that al hilal will be hunting a new european player to replace him as a right winger.

https://talksport.com/football/1640884/neymar-drastic-new-look-al-hilal-acl-surgery/

Jorse jesus has told al hilal to recruit osimhen. Hilal has already expressed its interest in recruiting Osimhen from Napoli, but unfortunately, the player himself has rejected the offer. It is my belief that, following Osimhen's decision to reject Al Hilal's interest, we will witness the rise of a new name in the football scene.

During mid-season it is very difficult to get quality replacements. And that is why I was angry with Neymar. He was bought by Al Hilal for such a huge amount and even then he left them high and dry. Not an ideal way to send your gratitude, I would say. And from what I have heard, Al Hilal is trying to bring either Mohammed Salah or Victor Osimhen. From what I heard, Osimhen was offered up to €140 million and he still rejected it. And for Salah, apart from Al Hilal, Al Nassr is also in the fray and it is difficult to know who will be successful in the end.
1411  Economy / Economics / Re: India is the new economic leader of global south. And replacement for China?... on: November 14, 2023, 10:23:18 AM
The advantage with India is that wages are quite low when compared to China. But at the same time, the taxes are quite high, regulations are complicated and productivity of staff is low. Factory workers in India are usually paid around $300 per month if they are on company roll. But a lot of corporations hire contract workers, who are paid only around half of this amount ($150 per month). On the other hand, in China factory workers are being paid around $900 per month or higher. The difference is huge and this attracts a lot of manufacturers to India. But the situation can change rapidly.

Also, Indian workers are not very disciplined and every now and then there are reports of strikes in factories. There was one infamous incident in Manesar when the workers at the Maruti factory rioted and burnt to death a HR executive. More than a hundred workers were charged for this crime, but at the end everyone were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

There is no doubt about this is big statement and his fitness quality and performance all favoring him right now but sadly currently internal politics and new experiments which are going to happen in coming days after worst performance in ODI world cup I am not sure anyone from PCB will give him green signal about this all.

Recently I watch few talk shows which are covering their campaign into world cup and other YouTube related channels are clearly indicating things are not good and their performance and quality surely going down in coming days because there is no stable government and PCB is also under serious threat with politics too much involved many former players and other wants high profile jobs which is surely not good sign for the game in this country in near future even they will keep their spot between 4th to 7th spot.

At this point, Pakistan needs a quality spinner. The part-timers are not doing their job and this was very evident during the ongoing ODI Word Cup in India. In fact, I would say that the absence of a quality spinner was one of the main reasons why Pakistan got kicked out of the world cup during the group phase itself. The addition of Shoaib Malik would not just boost their spin attack, but it will also strengthen their middle order batting. This guy averages 34.55 with the bat in ODI cricket and has scored over 7,000 runs in this format.

South Africa batsmen try and don't do well, which has led to them losing matches. The South African batsmen can win the semi-final match if they try. If South Africa's batsmen and bowlers show some struggle and hard work in the semi-finals, they will definitely win this match.

Because batsmen like Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh are in the team, they don't lose matches.Like in the previous matches Maxwell scored a double century to win the match if they show such efficiency in the semi-final as well they can win and prove this prediction. Australia is no less.

Warner, Maxwell and Marsh have been in splendid form. Right now, Warner has scored a total of 499 runs at an average of 55.44 and also with a strike rate of well over 100. Marsh is not far behind, as he has scored 426 runs with an average of 60.85 and strike rate of 109.51. In case of Maxell, the strike rate is an unbelievable 152.69. He scored 397 runs at an average of 79.40. However, apart from these three batsmen, the remaining Australian batsmen have poor record so far in the world cup. Labuschagne has an average of 35.75, while for Smith it is just 38.28.

Now I am also in favor skipping this ODI format because with this we will have some good time for players to adjust in two formats test and T20i which will help them and also helpful for the boards as well because this will allow their schedule as well with Hotstar is on right path, but I am also not in favor of this Champions Trophy because this is also not ideal event with having only T20i world cup and WTC championship is enough because recently we have good changes into Franchise cricket and mostly players love to play in these for the financial help they also need to favor this, but we need good well-balanced schedule as well which will help all boards specially associate members to improve their structure and quality as well.

Then what about the 2027 ODI World Cup? As far as I know, it will go ahead according to the plan and the media rights holders are also OK with the format. It is true that ODI is rapidly losing popularity. But they are an essential part of the bilateral fixtures. Ideally the cricket boards should be shifting to T20Is, but there is a lot of reluctance in doing so. Some of the cricket boards, especially the BCCI and the PCB are really slow in catching up to the changing situation. Now the ball is in ICC's court and they need to take the next step regarding the future of ODI.
1415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 14, 2023, 09:42:23 AM
The mission to reach the final will not be easy for South Africa. That's because South Africa's opponent is Australia. We have already seen Australia play. Australia has some great batsmen and they play very well. Two Australian players scored back-to-back double centuries so the Australian team is undoubtedly strong. Not to say that South Africa don't play well, of course they play well, but the mission to beat Australia and reach the final will be very difficult. South Africa vs Australia match I will put Australia ahead here. I think Australia has a better chance of going to the final after beating South Africa.

Australia will have the advantage and I don't have any doubt regarding it. South Africa has historically performed poorly in the knockout phases of different ICC tournaments, while the opposite is true for Australia. No other team has outperformed in the ICC tournaments as much as Australia. They won their first ODI World Cup in 1987, and after that there were 4 different occasions when they won the trophy (last time in 2015). India and West Indies have won the trophy twice and they rank much below Australia on this regard.

Just for Luls, You know what would be funny?

South Africa and New Zealand beating their respective opponent in the Semis, it would be a big *uck you moment for PIG-3 as one is already crippled and kicked out.

We'll also have a new World Champion as both teams failed to win the ODI WC, like a million times.

ICC already received their dose of shock when Netherlands qualified for this tournament well ahead of three test nations (West Indies, Ireland and Zimbabwe). And then again they went through the same state when the Dutch mopped the floor with South Africa and the arrogant Bangladeshis (that was before getting destroyed by Australia and India though). And in case South Africa qualifies for the final, then it will be purely earth shattering for the ICC. In case of New Zealand, I am not that bothered, as they are always aligned with the pig-3.
1417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: November 14, 2023, 07:43:25 AM
Al Taawon has the opportunity to win again after four matches, only getting 3 draws and 1 loss and this result is very detrimental to Al Taawon, which is currently only in the top four even though previously it was a strong competitor to Al Hilal.

Love them or hate them. But you need to agree that Al Taawoun has performed exceptionally so far. The loss against Al Hilal on Friday would be disappointing, but still we need to remember that until the 81st minute the score was 0-0. And even now they are at the 4th place in points table, well ahead of heavyweight teams such as Al Ittihad and Al Ettifaq. A few more wins in the next rounds and they can even overtake Al Ahli and get to the 3rd place in the points table. For now, Al Hilal and Al Nassr are well ahead of them.
1418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 14, 2023, 07:33:47 AM
There is big statement from Pakistani star player Shoaib Malik:

https://www.indiatoday.in/sports/cricket/story/i-want-clarity-if-pakistan-want-me-to-play-t20-world-cup-2024-shoaib-malik-2462418-2023-11-13

He is claiming that he has expressed his willingness to play in the 2024 T20I World Cup, but the PCB hasn't yet responded to him. The last time Malik played for Pakistan was more than 2 years ago, when he took part in the bilateral T20I series against Bangladesh. With Pakistan lacking a quality spin bowler, I believe that he will be a good addition to their squad. But at the same time, let's not forget the fact that he's almost 42 years old.
1419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 DISCUSSION THREAD! on: November 14, 2023, 07:23:23 AM
Not only that, All Big Cricket boards have different priorities nowadays. They are following a rotation policy way too seriously, considering their packed schedule.

If we look at a yearly basis then after 2019 ODI WC, the Likes of Cummins, Starc, Bumrah, Shami, Sharma, Kohli, Root, Kane, Wood, Stokes etc played a handful of ODI cricket, some due to injuries and some schedules.

In case of Bumrah, Stokes, Wood.etc, it is mostly due to injury. But players such as Sharma and Kohli have been very active in franchise cricket during this time period. Seriously I don't foresee ODI cricket surviving for much longer. The ODI World Cup in 2027 will go ahead as planned, but I have doubts regarding the 2031 edition. Already Hotstar is asking the ICC to change the format of 2025 Champions Trophy from ODI to T20. With each passing year, ODI is losing out and at the same time T20I is growing at it's expense.

Any idea on how much boost Hotstar received from the ongoing world cup in India? During the last 12 months, they have lost 23.7 million paid subscribers and that amounts to almost 40% of their subscriber base in India. A lot of the users seems to be shifting to JioCinema, after it brought the streaming rights for IPL. That said, many matches of this world cup, which is being streamed live on Hostar have witnessed record high audience count. The match between India and New Zealand for example clocked a massive 44 million concurrent users at its peak.
