1401  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KYC propagation beyond my ownership on: July 01, 2023, 03:48:51 PM
Hi all,

Sorry for the confusing title. I'll try to explain:

What if I buy some KYC Bitcoin through an exchange and then move it to a wallet. And then, let's say I either give some of that Bitcoin to someone else (maybe a charity or a friend), or use it to buy something (maybe a used car off Craigslist). At this point, from my perspective, I no longer own that Bitcoin (i.e. it is "beyond my ownership"). But now what if the person who now "owns" that Bitcoin uses it for some illegal purpose? I would have no knowledge of that transaction, but my KYC has "propagated" to the new owner. If that transaction were to be traced, assuming it hadn't been linked with KYC transactions with the new owner's identity, I would be still be the last owner of the transaction from a chain analysis perspective, right? This is not something I've heard discussed before (but admittedly I'm new hear). Seems like a risk.

Thoughts?

Thanks.
Since it is only you that provided KYC that can be used to trace the transaction, it can be traced to you. It will be assumed that you know the person you sent the money to. You might be requested to reveal the identity of the owner of the wallet you sent the Bitcoin. This is one of the risks of using a centralized wallet, you will always be the first contact when something goes wrong. Using a decentralized wallet will give you the privacy you need.
1402  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The possibility of bitcoin becoming a global currency. on: June 30, 2023, 08:52:34 PM
With the reality of wealth being amassed through bitcoin overtime by so many individuals globally,i see bitcoin taking over  or becoming a global currency.
This for me of course may take time to happen, with the right education in the heart of the old and young old and young which of course is not an easy task but give it time it can be  possible.

What is your take on this?
Bitcoin has the potential to be recognized as a legal tender in most of the countries of the world. It could be safely used for both local and international business transactions. But like you said nobody knows when. Bitcoin adoption will be gradual but progressive. Through bitcoin awareness and education, more people will keep ditching centralized platforms and move to areas they have control over. The government will keep fighting to slow its adoption because it will make them lose control of the people but they cannot stop the currency. Currently, we have one country that has declared bitcoin as a legal tender and some others are making friendly policies. Bitcoin adoption will keep growing until many nations sees its importance and follow El Salvador. Bitcoin will be good for developing nations because it will give a transaction alternative that is different from a controlled payment system like SWIFT.
1403  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: June 30, 2023, 08:28:58 PM
Well it took Guardiola quite some many years to be able to win the Champions League despite he having one of the best teams in the world when it comes to great players,he always had great names but it took him several years in order to harmonize this team even in European competitions so all kudos to him,for me though any other coach would have won at least once the Champions League with these players in his disposal, just my opinion.I do believe Guardiola to be one of the best coaches out there but I think it took him a lot of time to win a Champions League trophy with all these great players, nevertheless the Champions are never judged so let's see the next upcoming season.
One area that Guardiola has developed himself is his relationship with his players. He has learned to relate with his player more harmoniously which has led to the loyalty of most of the players. The coach has always had the best players which was the reason why they dominated the English premier league. But the champions league eluded them for a long time until they got it last season. PSG is at the same level as Manchester City was last season. But City was fortunate to win the trophy but PSG is still waiting to lift the trophy. I wonder what would have been the fate of Guardiola, if City had lost the Champions League, maybe he would have been sacked.

Coinbase sent this to my email to inform me that I have till September 25th before my account is disabled and I should withdraw my funds before then but the fact is that I have not completed my KYC and so I won't be able to withdraw my funds there. Good thing what I have there doesn't really worth anything. Even if I want to do kyc I still can't because getting my documents would be really tasking for me.
This is among the reason we should be cautious of Centralise exchange because they can choose to change their terms and conditions which may be unfavourable to us.
Ps : I already have this account before I joined this Forum
Before you use an exchange you should carefully read the terms of service. Your account will be disabled because you failed to provide the complete KYC so you don't have to blame them. If you want to continue with them provide your details, if not allow them to close the account. But some exchanges keep on changing their terms of service, I don't blame them sometimes because the government keeps pushing them to get more personal information from customers. But it will be ideal for these exchanges to inform their customers about the change of some policies instead of secretly changing the ToS.
1405  Economy / Economics / Re: SEC fighting for the publics my ass on: June 30, 2023, 05:58:17 PM
It's not about only money and bags. They want control over something that they don't have. Bitcoin is decentralized, and they are trying to get a control over it and make it centralized. Making Bitcoin centralized is impossible, so they took the different approach to take other's coin and put it under control of a centralized platform.
Even if they do it, if people don't use it, they can't control the people. Many will think that, it is controlled by government, so they will get the best security. But then it will have no difference between traditional banks and that exchange platform. It's a well planned move that they are trying to execute. Success is based on public reach and usages. If people refuse to use it, then it will be a very different story. It will be enjoyable to see what will happen.
People using exchanges don't care about their privacy. All they want is a safe exchange that they can use to keep and exchange their funds without restriction. But think I government-owned exchanges can be trusted more than those owned by individuals. My view might not be correct but after the financial recklessness of Bankman-Fried, it became clearer that exchanges controlled by an individual or group of individuals can be easily mismanaged. If the government can guarantee customers that they will receive a refund in case of collapse, then it will be better than other exchanges. But the fact remains clear that keeping money in centralized wallets is at owner's risk, the government and centralized exchanges cannot be trusted.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will debanking Nigel Farage affect Bitcoin? on: June 30, 2023, 05:01:32 PM
For those of you who don't know, Nigel Farage is a significant political figure in the UK and the EU. He is a wealthy banker/ investment manager, and is famous for his Brexit activities. Recently his bank closed his personal and business accounts, and six alternative banks declined to open accounts for him. I understand that he may be considering moving out of the UK to preserve his businesses, and to continue to work for the completion of the Brexit process in the UK.  With the decline and problems of the European Union, it looks as if the oligarchs are working to replace it and expand its sphere under the WEF. This is likely to include the US and the UK in the future. I suspect that the sanctions on Nigel Farage's banking are intended to weaken his political power. However, we know from the experience of the US, that the imposition of sanctions tends to weaken the sanctioner, and to strengthen the sanctioned. One obvious path for Nigel Farage to take is to increase his support for Bitcoin. He has stated publicly that Bitcoin has a great future, and his experiences would tend to emphasise this.
Nigel Farage's dilemma shows the importance of Bitcoin. It is a clear case of financial persecution because of a person's personal views. The government wants everybody to behave like puppets while they become puppet masters. Nigel even claimed that the government has also extended this bank account closure to his family members. Nigel has been accused before of receiving funds from Russian backed media firm to the tune £550,000 without evidence. And he has claimed that received less than £5000. Very soon people will be with different political views will not survive in the present world.

Where will he move to? Maybe El Salvador. The entire banks in Europe and the US have the same ideology so I wonder which bank will accept him. Leaving Britain might not be the best option because he might still face the same fate in other nations. Turning to bitcoin will be a good option because it can help him keep his funds safe in a decentralized form. Nigel sees Bitcoin as a means to ultimate freedom and has been a supporter of Bitcoin. He might not be a billionaire but he has influence and followership (about1.7 millionn), so he can attract more people to Bitcoin.
1407  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late for newbies? on: June 28, 2023, 07:50:23 PM
Hello guys,
I'm happy to be part of this community, and so far I've realized that everyone is more experienced than me, so I don't know how logical it is to ask this question, but I'll ask it anyway.

Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin?

All my friends are talking about cryptocurrencies, but I still can't wrap my head around it. What would you recommend for someone who has no previous experience? Do any of you have resources that you can recommend to me that will explain cryptocurrencies in the shortest and most simple way?
If you have any success stories you would like to share, I would be very grateful if I could benefit from them as well...
I knew little or nothing about Bitcoin when I also joined the community. But I had to invest time to read about Bitcoin in this forum. There is virtually nothing about Bitcoin that has not been discussed here and new topics are also added every day. Reading posts and asking questions is the pathway of learning in this forum. For now, don't focus on writing posts but channel your effort to reading.

Other materials on the internet can also help to build your knowledge about Bitcoin. You can find them on YouTube and some other trusted websites. But don't just accept what you learn from social media because some of them are not truthful, so it is important to always check the authenticity of the information before you believe and apply them. Videos can help you understand the concept of cryptocurrencies fast but you should also know that learning takes time and dedication and there is no shortcut to learning. You are welcome to the form.
1408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To Earn or to Talk, what is Your Role here on Bitcointalk? on: June 28, 2023, 05:06:54 PM
This probably could be the most funny story i  would be sharing here on Bitcoin talk. so yesterday I came across an old friend who used to be a member of this forum. he was actually here before ( last I remembered). it then came to my mind to ask him how he is managing to grow his account here on Bitcoin talk or if he already ranked up to a full member.
There are no specific styles or topics that you can predict will give you merit. You might spend all the time preparing a post with assurance that it will be merited, but end up not receiving any. One of the reasons for this is the recycling of topics. Most members don't use the search option to check if a particular topic has been discussed. So they spend time writing on an over-researched area and end up getting nothing. If your post is innovative, creative, and solves problems, merit will be given.

just remember that every earner, was once a talker and a learner but some talkers never get to become earners because they never learnt anything. I know that for now I'm still in the talkers section, but some day I will definitely earn from Bitcointalk and also share my success story. so which are you, the Talker or the Earner.
If you are not willing to learn in this forum, you will not earn. To earn you must build your account and to build an account you must get merit. Many people don't want to patiently learn but they want to hurriedly earn.

1410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ads for online gambling should be banned. on: June 28, 2023, 04:31:24 PM
If this should be implemented will it affect bitcointalk casinos? As we all know most established and new casinos come to bitcointalk to launch their ANN thread and carry out signature promotion campaigns which can be regarded as ads in a sense. If ads should be banned will their promotion in Bitcointalk also end?
in the title of the article alone, you'll already know that the gambling ban will only be in Australia, not sure why you thought this would affect gambling casinos that advertise here in the forum.

anyway, I am still glad they are taking steps on trying to prevent the younger generation from being too exposed to gambling.
They will always claim that gambling ads are the main cause of gambling addiction in the country so it needs to be checked. I don't subscribe to banning these adverts totally but it can be regulated. There should be another way of controlling these adverts to protect underage gamblers. The gambling sector is providing jobs for many people, this policy can lead to job loss.

The government can not pretend that it is not getting a substantial amount of revenue from this sector. This is just a recommendation by a legislative inquiry, let's see if it will be implemented. After all some leading politicians received funds from gaming companies during the campaign. An example is Michelle Rowland, the communication minister of Australia, whose ministry will enforce the ban. But it is good that the gaming sector has been given three years to look for alternative means of advert.

If this should be implemented will it affect bitcointalk casinos? As we all know most established and new casinos come to bitcointalk to launch their ANN thread and carry out signature promotion campaigns which can be regarded as ads in a sense. If ads should be banned will their promotion in Bitcointalk also end?
The world is like a system and each subsystem depend on each other to function properly. It might have an indirect effect but it will be insignificant. I don't also think that Australian laws are binding on the forum. This forum has its laws and it is not influenced by the law of any country. So gambling ads will continue in bitcointalk. The only effect is that accessing the forum might be restricted because of the gambling ads in the forum.
1411  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: June 28, 2023, 03:26:41 PM
My question is, what big purchase could we see Elon Musk likely make this year?
I don't think Elon Musk will buy anything this year because he is still busy trying to fix Twitter. He said that he now works for twelve to fourteen hours daily and he spends most of this time on Twitter. The explosion of his SpaceX Starship rocket within minutes of takeoff should also be another problem for him. He needs to put his clear his desk before engaging in more projects. My prediction is that he might buy an artificial Intelligence company, maybe it will be OpenAI, the company behind Chat GPT.

Elon who was on the internet for having agreed to a fight with Mark Zuckerberg is one of the worlds billionaires with a networth that's more than Mark's Metaverse.
When I saw the proposed fight promotional picture on the Internet, I laughed. I think it is a joke because we have not heard more detail. But if it turns out real, Elon Musk should be ready to lose the fight because Mark Zuckerberg will deal with him.
1412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 28, 2023, 03:09:27 PM
Social media have been a channel for the advertisement of bitcoin and other crypto. This is why the majority of people involved in crypto are mostly youth. The youths are very active on social media and they are more open to new ideas. We are aware social media is used to spread the good and bad. It has also been a platform for the spread of FUD and scam projects. Hackers use social media to spread viruses and other harmful applications. But we can not deny that the social media have been very helpful to the industry.

One area that social media have affected the industry positively is the area of Bitcoin education. YouTube is now a center to get quality information about Bitcoin and other coins. There are also good classes or lectures on other social media platforms. We also have different helpful forums and communities that have also contributed to the growth and development of the industry. But we should always verify the information we get from these platforms because some of them are highly deceitful.
1413  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to Buy and Sell Dollars Online in Bangladesh on: June 28, 2023, 06:39:58 AM
I want to commend your writing skills. The article looks organized and coherent. But you are promoting an exchange website which is not a bad idea. I think this post will be more appropriate in the service section where members usually visit to get information on services such as this one. Your post will get more visibility and you will attract the type of client you need. The legal segment of the forum is more concerned with how laws, policies, or directives of the government and its agencies affect Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency ecosystems. This section covers constitutional matters as it relates to Bitcoin. I wish you all the best as you promote your business venture.
1414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: June 28, 2023, 06:21:05 AM
I am surprised that a lot of people are taking this seriously. The post from Georges St-Pierre was more of a satire. Jokes apart, do you guys really think that Elon will find enough time to go through the rigorous training regimen? A few weeks ago he told media that he's working 12-14 hours per day, and most of the time is being spent on Twitter. Mark Zuckerberg maybe having slightly more spare time, but given the downward fortunes of his Meta platform, I don't really think that he can spare much time either. So if fans are expecting something like KSI vs Logan Paul, then they will be disappointed.
I also see this proposed fight as a joke. These men are busy on many projects that they will not have time for such a game. But come to think of it, this fight could generate a good amount of money for both of them. If this fight is ever staged many people will pay any sum to witness this billionaire fight. Many promotional and entertainment firms will be willing to put in large funds to promote and organize the fight. And it will trend on the internet for many months if not years. The fight will be the first physical fight between billionaires because we have heard them fight verbally. But if this fight ever holds, Elon Musk will surely receive the beating of his life.
1415  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Teacher and Classmates Labeling Bitcoin as a Ponzi Scheme or a Scam on: June 28, 2023, 04:54:41 AM
Repeat after me -
"I have promised myself that I will be focusing my time and efforts on building my own future instead of trying to convince someone who makes the fashionable mistake of labelling everything they don't understand as scam."
Sometimes trying to convince people, especially the ignorant ones is just a waste of time. The more effort you put to dispute a wrong view about a project, the more they proudly exhibit their lack of knowledge. Some of these negative views are born out of a lack of information or bad personal experience. It will be very difficult to convince anyone that has been a victim of a shitcoin scam that Bitcoin is not a scam. The negative experience has affected their sense of reasoning.

...Recently, he expressed his frustration about his teacher and classmates labeling bitcoin as a ponzi scheme or a scam each time he talks about it...

One of the characteristic features of the ponzi scheme is the promise of a guaranteed profit, which is absent when investing in bitcoin. Understanding such fundamentals can easily identify where the dangers lurk. But this is unlikely to help the teacher understand this, since he has already formed a negative image in relation to bitcoin.
People are unaware that this is the strategy to attract them. No investment can guarantee a fixed profit but these Ponzi schemes assure investors of a certain percentage of profit at a certain time. And I wonder how sure these business owners are that they will constantly make a profit. Greed is a leading factor that makes people fall for these deceitful schemes.
1416  Economy / Economics / Re: After Making Money In Bitcoin, How is Black Tax Affecting You Economically? on: June 28, 2023, 03:58:39 AM
So, born from my own personal experience, or should I rather say what I am currently going through, I will like to ask this honorable forum members, How are you dealing with Black Tax after making money from crypto?
From personal observation and reading different cultures have specific ways of dealing with families. Like in the Western culture, the children might not be fully responsible for the care of their aged parents or relatives. Maybe because they have a good welfare system that handles some of these responsibilities. In other cultures, it is a major responsibility for the children to provide almost all the basic needs of their parents. If you don't take such responsibility, you will be seen as a useless child. It is also the responsibility of an elder sibling to provide for the younger ones until they grow to cater for themselves.

In my case, I am fortunate that all my younger siblings are now financially independent. Some of them are more financially stable than me, so they take care of my parents while I assist in any way I can. I am just focused on developing myself to increase my income so I can also take over some other responsibilities in my extended family. It is not easy to handle these black taxes but one of the ways of paying these bills is to seek alternative means of income and also spend responsibly. Don't also pit yourself under unnecessary pressure because you want to satisfy people's needs. If you fall sick or become indebted, you will have to bear it alone. Take only responsibilities that you can handle. Some of my friends will have to sometimes spend their entire salary because of health or other financial expenses on their parents or sibling. It is painful but they have to do it.
1417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Being Knowledgeable before Bitcoin investment is very Good on: June 28, 2023, 03:33:49 AM
I came across a post made on this forum by someone that says he has $20k for investment as such he was looking for people to advice him on how to go about it, for me it was actually a bad idea consorting everyone for investment advice because you could be lured by scammers to invest on a shitcoin as such loosing all your money because of lack of knowledge about Bitcoin or any investment in general, as someone that has no idea on investment I think the first thing was research google to learn more and also the risk involves. so I was thrilled to create this topic, so everyone could help by sharing there own knowledge on what someone that has no knowledge about investment should no before venturing into.

I may not be the right person for investment advice that's why I'm asking everyone to share their advice, views and knowledge incase something like this should come up, so people could learn and no what must be done before going into investment.
Firstly, you might be unaware that he has carried out some research about some project he wants to invest in but he also wanted to seek the advice of the community. Secondly, as much as I know this forum is one of the best places to seek financial advice. This forum has some of the most experienced persons that have been in the Bitcoin arena for a long time. He is not wrong to ask such a question in the forum. I believe he will get some of the best investment advice from some members.

Now it will be a failure on his side if he accepts everything or any information he was given by the members of the forum without doing his research. He should be able to analyze all the responses and extract the best ideas and do research on them.

But I will agree with you that he shouldn't have announced to the public that he has such an amount in his coffers. This action can attract scammers or even criminals to him.
1418  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin trading for the lily-livered? on: June 27, 2023, 05:33:58 PM
I've been around the forum for months now and lately i have been developing serious thoughts about venturing into crypto trading
particularly bitcoin, I've gotten some little knowledge about forex trading, because there are lots of trading indicators in forex that helps you in predicting the market flow.

However according to some bitcoin trading expert's on YouTube, they will tell you they've gotten their fingers burnt a lot of times.

So i ask, is bitcoin trading advisable for the lily-livered?

To engage in Bitcoin trading you are expected to get some foundational knowledge about the field. You should be conversant with fundamental and technical analysis. It is a risky sector to venture in because the price of bitcoin is unpredictable so you can gain sometimes and other trades might not be favorable. There are risks attached to all businesses in the world but trading risk is higher and the profits are also good and fast. You need to be brave to venture into such a sector. You should be prepared for the worst.

It will also be to your advantage if you won't put all your money into Bitcoin trading. You should invest the sum so that even if you lose all, you would still live a comfortable life. Don't also borrow or sell a valuable asset to invest because bitcoin trading is risky. If you are not a good risk taker, trading might not be your calling.

Chelsea will still be losing more players. Players like Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech, N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, and Mateo Kovačić have all moved. And Mason Mount and Mason Mount are also on the verge of leaving. It is now been discussed in the football arena that the English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is close move to AC Milan. Stefano Pioli believes that the 27-year-old player will be important to the Italian side. I wonder how Chelsea will be able to replace these players because some of them played regularly in the first team.
