Sounds like you happen to be unlucky and have one that needs number 5 done on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=545642.msg5957256#msg5957256 .

It discharges electricity and then can restart, be careful with electricity.

Nice job spotting this comments over next few days might be interesting....
14103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alright so this is just some insight from a beginning to a beginner. on: July 02, 2014, 12:51:38 PM
Let me start of by stating that I am still fairly new to this, and no doubt still I have much to learn. Okay now that that's out of the way. A few things I've learned is do some reasearch. Try different pools to see for yourself, the fees seem to vary from pool to pool. Don't believe everything you read; just because you see more glowing reviews than nasty comments..

Each pool and each user's needs differ; an advanced member may be making their mortgage payment from just a few days worth of mining; but these people have been doing this a while and THs upon THs. You on the other hand just broke the bank and maybe starting with a few GH..

Anyway since February.. I've tried several pools and this what I've learnt. (keep in mind I'm still a beginner with just a measly 49 GHs).

BTCGuild  38 hours 35 shifts, 49,328 difficulty 32/64 shares.. earning .00148993

eclipse.. start time 2:22 am.. starting balance: .00000256 around 11,000 shares varied difficulty..

ending balance just before switching to cex-io 0.00102356.. just shy of 14 hours

let's throw cex.io in the mix.. i have earned the least from them but - will give it another shot

and just for good measure.. slush's pool might be great if you have the GHs

f here are difficulty changes during your mining that will effect your results.  Also I might suggest looking at pool types.  For example BTCGuild "luck" plays a factor you could hit it on good or bad day on solving.
14104  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How is mining with a laptop different from running Crysis on max settings? on: July 02, 2014, 12:45:57 PM
The main reason mining on a laptop is useless is because you will waste more money on electricity than you will gain from mining.

Maybe some altcoins can be mined efficiently if your laptops processor is more energy-efficient than you desktop (which might be the case because laptops in general are designed for efficient use of battery)

I think the main reason is it's a perfect way to destroy a nice laptop.

You could have free power, and I think most would still agree mining on a "gaming laptop" is going to be detrimental long term.

Can these be run off of a Raspberry Pi? And is there any support for BFGMiner or CGminer yet?

So far it has just been Windows.  I have set up a low wattage PC for it myself.

The software is designed as a windows .exe so far I have not seen any port to raspberry pi.
14106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CEX.IO on: July 02, 2014, 01:16:22 AM
So there is no use of using CEX.IO? Are there any alternatives?

Pbmining is cheaper compared to cex.io and maybe you can earn some profit, but the downside is that they lock you to a 5 year mining contract

If you look at hash rates and hardware 5 years is a lot of time in mining world.  I would not commit for 5 years.
14107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How is mining with a laptop different from running Crysis on max settings? on: July 02, 2014, 12:56:01 AM
Everyone says that mining on a laptop is a bad idea because it will overheat and fall apart. They say that laptops weren't designed to have their CPUs or GPUs running at 100% for long periods.

But how is mining different from running Crysis on max settings? I've never heard of people having their laptops break because they played too much video games. Shouldn't both mining and intensive gaming put an equal amount of stress on the laptop's components?

Just curious because I'm going to buy a new laptop soon. Grin

Becuse most run the card at higher settings than you use gaming.  Not equal stress or amount of time.  You will ultimately regret it if you buy a nice laptop then mine with it.   It might not happen in a week or even a month, but you will see why if you do it.

14109  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: power management problem keeps blowing fuse box on: July 02, 2014, 12:43:47 AM
I have 5 S1's running on 750 watt power suplies and a 48 port switch that keep blowing my fuse box.

how do I prevent this from doing it again.

all S1's are overclocked as well

Move to multiple outlets be careful multiple of your outlets probley are going to one breaker.  Or hire a electrician  if you need work.

Felix which version did you use for this? Could you paste a link please?

I would also like a link thanks  Smiley

I'm curious as-well.  Does it preform well at that frequency?

Revised batch file with a exit.

In the Lee Group SilverFish-28 Guide the second post now has a 1 Hour SilverFish restarting batch file.  Hope it helps if anyone experiences problems with hash rate dropping after a few hours of running.

This quite simply restarts the SilverFish mining software once a hour, and hopefully will increase the hash rate per day for those who have dropping in hash rate after a few hours. It was released in second post as how to make it so you can build it yourself.  As for your safety no batch file will be posted to download, you create your own and are able to view what it does.

No shit? Not sure if trolling, but try booting Linux from a USB instead so you free up the disk drive.

Look into the USB as mentioned or maybe a raspberry pi.
14115  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining on laptop on: June 29, 2014, 08:18:14 PM
Most likely would be better of with RaspberryPI or desktop if you are running 24x7 with devices connected to it.  If you are talking about mining with a laptops cpu/gpu it will be very small in earnings.

Max i ever got out of these boards wax 5x with window 8.  I didn't try for days though.  I ended up splitting between two boards when i was GPU mining

How noisy are these little guys (as compared to other miners)? I've run the gamut from block erupter, to G-blade, S1, S2, SP10 and avalon so looking for an equivalent in the world of noise making before I buy.

Next question, what size are those fans?

It uses two small fan's, I do not have exact size.  Manufacture does not list it and I don't have any so small that match.   With being two small fan's they do spin very fast and there is some noise.  The A2-30 is quieter by a decent amount for me. With a few miners and cooling in same room dedicated to mining to be honest sound is not a issue to me.

Return it and buy one online for just a standard usb keyboard that is a little expensive.
14119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoin faucets really worth the time? on: June 29, 2014, 07:44:45 PM
not what I meant.... I understand that system but what I mean is when you start using online faucets and you start to get used to the ways of the cryptos and you doing okay but you keep going back to these sites for a few $0.01s and really just waste your time!.... but when do you say "enough is enough" and consider yourself to be a non-newbie in crypto and not need these sites
Yes its very big problem every person in start going to these sites and faucets and taking even some satoshies but after some time crying waste of time its not fair

People should just stop pushing them in newbie forum.    Everyone sees "free coins" they don't realize how long they will be clicking and how little pay will be.

Hosting is currently sold out at last I heard.  But you can still order the popular Dragon 1T for delivery.  Shipment date <48 hours as indicated by first page post.

My personal now is a generation old and still hashing a little over 1T poolside.
