14102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase down again during crash, is the exchange doing this on purpose? on: May 10, 2020, 03:57:58 PM
Coinbase is fine to store 🏬 cash 💵. Thats about it.

They are subject to us fdic rules for cash 💵.

I always have a few bucks cash in it.

What most people don’t realize about every exhange is they never could cash every btc out that they say they have.

So when a run on btc happens they shut up shop for a while.

A run on btc happened as there was a big cash out. They don’t have the btc on hand to cash out.

So they shut down.

All exchanges do this.
14103  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: May 10, 2020, 03:00:07 PM
No , maybe, yes

That has been true for different 1/2 ings

And remember covid-19 is a completely new wrinkle.

What has never happened at a 1/2 ing for btc is a severe drop in hashing. or difficulty.
but it did happen with the LTC 1/2 ing last summer.
it did happen with other coins.

I suspect it is going to happen with btc.

a 20% hash rate drop is in the cards.
a 20% coin price rise to a stable 10-11k is not as likely.

this is a 2-4 month time guess
I am more certain of the hashrate drop to a diff of 12 or 11

then I am of a stable 11k coin.
14104  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S17 pro fixed Frequency and Voltage default firmware on: May 10, 2020, 02:13:13 PM
I get the hidden menu to show but it does not seem to allow the settings.

I chose. 17.20 and 550 hit save and apply and it seemed to vanish

I did next s17pro

I choose 17.30 and 550 hit save and apply and it seems to vanish

in both cases none reappears on the inspect section.

I have nov 2019 firmware is that the issue?

Those do not stick
I used a s17pro with aug firmware
I used a s17pro with nov firmware
in both cases I can pick values but when saved they vanish what am I missing

14105  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: May 10, 2020, 06:15:29 AM
The surge in coin price appears to have evaporated: $8471 now.

yeah and 1/2 ing in 259 blocks

for mining the 8471 is like 4235 ugh

Looks like a lot of fud occurring for miners. we drifted to about +0.49% I would have thought a strong rise in hash and then a drop in 3 days once ½ ing occurs   coins are about 9700 right now  which means for miners they are about 4850.

I wonder if they will be a strong retreat to bch and bsv and gear gets turned off.

things will be jumping very soon.

I was going to reply yesterday and decided to wait until today.
I would like to say all posts given merit prior to 2019 should be off limits for a year.

Also if you do give demerit power just how much power to demerit is given
 5 points 10 points 25 points?

Do we allow an entire drop to the next level?

In my case 1309 merits would be needed to drop me to Hero.

14110  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitmain T9\S9 to Bitcoin treasure hunter device? on: May 09, 2020, 02:33:23 PM
For more than 9 months I have been developing a treasure hunter that will allow to return lost bitcoins in abandoned wallets. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5213781.msg53484243#msg53484243
I do not design a cracker! It will not be able to crack modern wallets (created after 2012), old abandoned wallets only (containing up to 60% of coins, by the way) using their flaws.
Initially, it was a individual device using mining chips as a coprocessor(s) for a number of operations. This can significantly reduce the cost of the device compared to a fully FPGA solution.
However, in just a few days many popular ASICs (T9/S9 etc.) will become scrap. These are millions of free co-processors. Design a control board that can turn them into "seed-pick" seems like a good idea.

I would like to know the opinion of the community, will such a control board for the resurrection of bitmain scrap be interesting for ASIC's owners?

PS. A little about the reliability of wallets, millions years of searching and similar nonsense. Both in mining and in hunting, luck is at the basis. Finding a block using one ASIC is also difficult like finding a treasure with my device. The pool is effective in both cases.

PPS. It is not finished yet and I do not know when it will be finished. At the moment, I continue to develop for my scientific interest.

If you can try it on the old locked wallets like these

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/15qKUySejJHRkRXCnR52yXWtj1dZaCH3bv
https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1Mt8SWYMpdgQ8jk6S9o53PAvRHKP6bkdXR

there are lots of 50 coin addresses from block 1 to 20,000.  untouched since they were created back in 2009.

you would make 50 coins for each and every one you find.

I suppose you are brute forcing keys. and hoping for magical luck.

A question for you is how many keys a day does one s9 generate and test.  Assuming you can get the gear to do just that.  You would need a lot of luck.

There are more then 10,000 old addresses with 50 virgin coins. So that is over 500,000 coins in old wallets.

I would argue that trying to find a key that opens one is legal, but that using the key and sweeping the coins may be a criminal act.

14112  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining USA/DE 255 blocks solved! on: May 09, 2020, 11:47:58 AM

im with you on this Magic, after halving i might just throw in the towel on my btc mining gear.  thinking about going the shitcoin route and just trade them towards btc.  sad times with this halving and super freaking high diff.

I may keep one S3 running just can't justify running a APW3 PSU anymore.

Also starting to come to the realization that if I were to calculate the power that I burned keeping the some miners on the chain and the rentals sometimes up of 200-300 machines at a time it makes me wonder about bitcoin's difficulty going forward and the environmental question behind the wasteful energy use over the period.

I mean what did any of the power I rented even archive in the end?  It came with no reward and to be honest it's not like it even provided anything of benefit to the network just wasted shares.

Good luck guys I hope one of you cracks this block!

I have a r606 pointed here and a 1 board s7

it is about 100 + 200 = 300-325 watts an hour. or 7-8 kwatts a day or 210-240 kwatts a month.  the s7 is a free power setup

the r606 costs under 10 a month.  you never know.
14113  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which Bitmain product right now 6000$ to spend on: May 09, 2020, 10:51:04 AM
no one will buy them after 1/2 ing unless price sky rockets to 12000 or higher.

do the math a t17+ was as low as 762. when coins were around 7.1k I got one for 762. on April 19 or so.

Product Name   Quantity   Price
Antminer T17+ 58TH/s   1   $762.00
Product Amount:   $762.00
Shipping Cost:   $156.36
Coupon:   - $76.00
Discount:   - $0.00
Total Amount:   $842.36

so they want 943 vs 762

coins are 9600 vs 7100. so. the price jump seems okay it is not. why

you are closer to 1/2 ing by 20 days
you are over use import tax limit of 800

you risk 30% tax on 943 vs 3 % tax on 762

but take into account you beat the tax.

you lose 20 days or more of 12.5 blocks. this gear earns 58 x 15 =. 8.70 a day x 20 = 174 usd. this is certain not if or maybe

so. that 943 is really 1117 vs the 762 it was on apr 19

if you make the coins price  adjustment .11635 btc May 9  to .10732 btc. April 19.

so you are buying higher priced gear .  which is why I was trying to discourage you.  as it is certainly a higher price then I paid on April 19.

you could still be correct if coins take off like a mofo and crest pass 12000 quickly you won't get cheaper gear. and you would be right . is coins wonder around at 9-10 k you would have jumped the gun.
14114  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining Hardware on 120V on: May 09, 2020, 10:38:16 AM
Yes for sure there is the added risk, but is still a viable option especially if they would like to breakeven in the end. It's been a while but I can't even remember off the top of my head what these are drawing now with the brains OS.
I know you've played around with a ton of these. I'm at work on my phone but I'm wondering if you can get 2 boards down around 800-900w. That would fit nicely on a 110 circuit. It's gotta be close depending on the model, but one of the 13.5TH units I think would get that low with 2 boards.

I have done 815 watts 3 boards with braiins. 10 th. lasted that way for 3 months a board died

I now do 6.5th and 535 watts same machine. that is about 83 watts a th.     this is the only braiins os I have it is the only non-bm firmware I use on 1 ant miner.

The bm firmware from summer of 2019. has decent protection against virus and it does 10 th lowest setting and about 900 watts you could run one of them on an apw3++ and 120 volts hit or miss.

here are 4 screen shots of a miner set to low power on bm firmware it is an s9i model

this unit is up in Clifton NJ about 70 miles from my home I use TeamViewer to run it.

it is set to lowest setting there is
https://i.imgur.com/CloliiP.png
https://i.imgur.com/OWPLeWz.png

summer 2019 firmware
https://i.imgur.com/eJyMNIw.png

it does 9.75 hash very low errors.    0.0017 is low errors
https://i.imgur.com/ntxLkj3.png

will this run on 120 volts maybe maybe no depends on wire quality and psu quality.  but if you unplug the middle board it will run fine.

you will drop to 6.3 or 6.5 th which is earning. 6.5 x 15 = 97 cents soon to drop to 48 cents. that is 15 a month s9's are selling for 90 on eBay with a psu so it is six month roi

once 1/2 ing comes. you could pay as low as 70 for them with a psu. which is 5 month pay back.

I was going to get 68 of these for free but to cover-19 lockdown stopped me from being able to drive to Tennessee to pick them up [only way to get them].  sad but true.

I would have made a ton of modded ones

Do you know what sort of circuits you have available and how close together they are?? When I first started out there were a lot of people running s9's on 110/120 by splitting the load across 2 circuits using 2 psu's. You should have a small sub panel in a closet or something that gives you an idea of how many circuits you have available.

Iirc they were mostly using PC psu's. I'll try and find some of the old threads as you had to be sure to power them on in a particular order ( based on which one is powering the control board)

yeah an extension cord to a second circuit in another room could work. but is riskier then a modded s9

with one psu and one board.
