14121  Other / Meta / Re: Why Same MERITED Rankers send Merits to themselves? on: May 08, 2020, 06:58:59 PM
Hello...

I have a question which concerned to merit? I came to notice that we have lots of newbies who are trying very hard to get merits here on this BITCOINTALK forum. With lots great topics that contributes and also supports to put this forum in a great shape in future. I believe legendary is the final rank on this forum Right?

Now what is the difference for a legendary to MERIT another legendary who is already a legendary RANKER on this forum, same goes to other SAME Rankers on the forum.

This alone I believe makes few low rank members in the forum ask this questions in their thoughts.

Please your REASONS for this welcomed...

Legit question.

I do any rank that has a good post.

Here is a newbie I did today

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5246518.0

I gave him enough to be a junior member as I am hoping that it will promote mining that specific coin and that his program is as good as it seems.

I am mining with a few cards on that coin even though I mostly mine BTC directly with asics I do mine alt coins.

If you look at my signature you see I like alts and BTC.  So I try to promote ASICs resistant alts.
14122  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining USA/DE 255 blocks solved! on: May 08, 2020, 06:33:47 PM
Well i'll leave this here as a warning to future dreamers (Renters) that's me now 60k down the pan over the last 4 years renting hash to try for a block (would have been better buying 60k of bitcoin in the dips) and I have also always kept S3's and v9's on chain too with no luck once this hash run's out this time I am out of the mining game.

Just threw my last 15 LTC at rentals no luck 6 hr's left then i'm sorry to say but I won't be returning to the mining space.

Would have still been a fair payday with bitcoin being at the +£7k range would have netted a profit of around 30k or so for 4 years work but the god's of the hash are just not with me.

Sad times...

Magic.

im with you on this Magic, after halving i might just throw in the towel on my btc mining gear.  thinking about going the shitcoin route and just trade them towards btc.  sad times with this halving and super freaking high diff.

you and magic. should just run a modded s9 at ck pool. low cost and you still have a shot.

Okay you want a modified s9.  It is cheap and can be quiet. It make money with free power.  Not much money but money none the less.

At op why say this is the greed phase >

If coins are 12000 on may 19 that will be the greed phase

not 10000 before the ½ ing.

BTW

tell why you are wrong and I am right to use 12000 1 week after the ½ ing

and I will tell you why I am wrong and you are right to use 10,000 before the ½ ing
14125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SSD and RAM mining on laptop on: May 08, 2020, 02:37:42 PM
im looking to setup to mine with ram and ssd on a laptop

Mining btc directly with a laptop is using a teaspoon to dig about one dozen six foot deep graves for full size coffins.

You can do it but it takes far too long.
14126  Economy / Speculation / Re: 10k$ Bitcoin is Very much possible for now! on: May 08, 2020, 02:27:59 PM
or maybe usd 15,000 per btc.

$15,000 will be too high for now. Maybe bitcoin will be at $10k-$12,500 first and stable at that price until the end of this month. After that, bitcoin price will start another rally to the higher price, and who knows, in the next month, bitcoin price can increase to $20k, and stable again for the next bull run. But of course, after the rally of bitcoin price, it will make the correction for the price so that will be our good time to buy bitcoin before the price starts to increase and hit the highest price.

Well miners would love 16000 and settle for 11000

Four fans at 2 amps each and 12 volts = 8 x 12 or 96 watts

controller is about 10 watts so 96 + 10 = 106. which is just about equal to your  110 watt difference.

my guess is the asic firmware at 2360 watts is hash boards only.

@coxye. my bad t17+ is still bad 2 of three boards are good.

@vr4dude316

it is most likely a software glitch.  you should always check pool rates on the miner gui and on the pool.

it would be nice if the pool gets those high readings like the miner gui shows.

I will do all of f2pool for 2017 and all of antpool for 2017 so far very small sample with one really slow one 46 seconds and 1 really fast one 4 secs   the rest clustered in the middle so to speak.

That would make sense as "normal"
14130  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: May 07, 2020, 09:45:11 PM
Price needs to go over 12,000 to prevent a drop in hash. we are at 9800   which is 4900 which means strong drop in hash.

https://bitcoinblockhalf.com/   4 days and 2 hours.

14132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin offline wallet suggestion on: May 07, 2020, 06:02:03 PM
Hello. I want to know about any bitcoin offline wallet which includes no third party. And can that wallet be hacked if I don't input any kind of malicious file or connect the device to Internet?

While it is not likely any and all wallets are hackable.

It would be incredible to do it. But generate a correct private key import to your wallet and the address is accessible .

No one has conclusively done this on a cost offline wallet and shown proof they did. But it could happen one day.
14133  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which Bitmain product right now 6000$ to spend on: May 07, 2020, 05:53:42 PM
Thanks.

Probably  edging towards the T17+.

Just wondering if Bitmain will drop the prices next week 🤔

depends. coins are pushing 9800. if they crest 10,000 and keep moving to 13k range no.

14135  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which Bitmain product right now 6000$ to spend on: May 07, 2020, 03:38:27 PM
okay you have 6000 and want miners.

i assume you have cheap power

and that mining will make money for you.

so you need gear to not break.

all bitmain gear ⚙️ has batch variance.

my first t17+ sucked.
my second t17 + ordered two months later is great.

my t17e were on same order both work fine but are power hogs.

i ordered all my s17pro at same time. cause they allowed paypal. not much risk if they suck.

my advice is based on splitting risk.

note I can be wrong. my guess is based on one hundred orders from winter 2013 to april 2020.

and weight is placed from 2-2-2019 to 5-1-2020.
14136  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: May 07, 2020, 03:30:21 PM
wish they would put one up with sub 800 price - my T17+ is running at 60 th/s - I would take another one of those.

wait till may 13th.
14137  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I will be making some s9 space heaters. on: May 07, 2020, 03:13:47 PM
Funny you mention June.  We will be flirting with some record lows here in Alabama this weekend.  I could use those heaters..... in May.  Who would have thought.   Smiley

yeah it got cold here in NJ.

the fans landed on the west coast yesterday maybe I get them by monday.

In theory a ship date for buyers could be friday the 15th.

i will have five or six first batch.

second batch will be five more.

goal is to sell maybe 20 .
14138  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which Bitmain product right now 6000$ to spend on: May 07, 2020, 02:03:23 PM
Thanks for the responses!

Im leaning towards the T17+ or S17e. I will probably get 6. The reduced power for same hash rate is tempting but does this come at reliability cost?  I will probably have them less than 6months.

I had a look at the Micro BT but I simply can't justify the cost based on the short time I will have them and I have coupons for Bitmain.

I don't want to hold anymore BTC!!! But I get what your saying

Okay you have 6k correct?

and you have some coupons.

order 1 t17 +
order 1 s17e

wait until  May 13th to buy again

basically  buying  six of the t17+ or 6 of the s17e is not the right move as you could get a bad batch.

we are before the ½ ing and things are going to be set into motion very soon.

If you really want to order before the ½ ing due to your coupons  maybe they expire if coins go to 10k

then order 3 t17+
and order  3 s17e

my 2019-2020 order record from bitmain is

1 x s15 ---------------------works fully at or above spec
1 x t15 ---------------------- "
2 x t17 ---------------------- "
1x s17  ---------------------- "
15 x s17 pro ---------------- "
2 x 17e   -------------------- works full but uses power power then spec
2 x 17+  -------------------- 5 good boards 1 board has issues
4 x s9k ---------------------- need to be booted often but hash at spec and use power at spec.

my power is 218-228 volts very steady since June 2019  we did have an issue before June we would drop to 190 volts gear would drop out but this is not the gears fault

my air cooling is great.  lots of airflow more then I need.

my microbt what's miner record 2018-2019

10 m10's   ----- 1 died 7 fully spec 1 hashes at 27 not 31 1 has a dead board
2   m20s    ----- 1 underhashes at 38th  other is great at 68th I had to purchase 1 psu
1   m21s   ------ works fine.

so for me since late 2018 up to now my ant miner gear has been pretty good.
14139  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: May 07, 2020, 01:45:28 PM
Alright, gotcha, so in the 268 days, 38k-ish blocks have been found, but we've been pipped to the post by others finding them first?

yep. this is the curse of a lower hash pool.

mmpool.org.  has been mining for 23,000 hours since its last block which is almost 1,000 days
bitminer.com is over 268 days.

1ph of hash right now takes about 790.0 days to grab a block
  10ph of hash "         "    "        "       79.0 days to grab a block
100ph of hash  "       "     "        "         7.9 days to grab a block
