1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CBDC and Regulation discussion on: January 27, 2023, 04:39:29 AM
How can the government make sure that something like FTX (cooperate finance enriching themselves) never happened again? Crypto is presently not regulated and I don't see how regulation will fix this issue, my concern is the CBDC, I think it will work better as the real Stable coin, unlike Luna UST that team claimed was back by dollar but was not backed by anything... Wouldn't CBDC fixed this issue of fake USD backed stable coins?

I don't see any government can stop what happened to FTX, as you have said, it's not regulated, no one has control.

CBDC and stable coins are very different, they have their own uses, obviously CBDC is going to be used by government so I don't think we can correlate it to stable coins or any other crypto in general.

You as a crypto adopter would you like to use CBDC if the pairs are available on all crypto exchanges as a way to store yourself some digital US Dollar?

I will only used it if there are no choices, like government mandated their people to used CBDC to transaction with them.

And I doubt that there are exchanges willing to store CBDC or work with governments.
1422  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Start of a Bull Season on Bitcoin? Or a Trap? on: January 27, 2023, 03:43:17 AM
I am following markets closely since this big jump happened. I feel like its too good to be bull trap. In bull traps demand would be inconsistent and unbalanced, making price fluctate a lot. But with this move, it felt like some people literally filled their wallets to get ready for greater bull run in next halving period. I think we will all realize if this was trap or not in next 45 days. I would bet my money on it being real start of bull run honestly. I can't say further increases will happen that soon as well, demand can be limited for such short time window. But people would be less interested in selling/shorting.

Yes, and as far as I can understand in a bull trap, the increased will not last this long. But in our case, since the start of January, we are in a continues spike so just maybe we are not in a bull trap anymore. Maybe in the beginning, we have doubts that this could just be a trap set up by the bears.

45 days though is long enough to realized if we are in a bull trap or not, just saying.

Let's see how long can we sustained this run though, it's $21,500, now we are back into the $21'ish range again.

We have sustained it already since you last post and we even had to breach $23k already, so yeah, is not bear trap and we don't know how long will this because it seems to be a sustainable run to $25k at least, or that's where I'm seeing this bull run that we are witnessing.

Although it's crazy, we just started this year and then from $16k-$23k, that is a huge increased and we don't know where the buyer is coming from. I'm just hinting that those who went out and sold at $16k is trying to get back at the market again.
1423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 27, 2023, 03:19:15 AM
Ouch, some of us had Boston on the handicap, unfortunately they lost the game. They forced the OT against the Knicks but New York stay focus even if Boston took the lead in the OT.

Detroit Piston as well pull an upset win against the Nets, Kyrie had another big game with 40 points, Ben Simmons though, 0 points in this game.
It was Nic again who help Kyrie was not enough, while Pistons has like 8 players scoring double digits. So it's 0/2 for me tonight.
1424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to invite 1 of my friends to invest in bitcoin on: January 27, 2023, 02:19:02 AM
and I also before he invested, had warned him earlier, that investing in bitcoin is very risky, profit and loss.
and i also suggest to join this forum to learn more about bitcoin.

because honestly I myself am still a beginner. what do you think everything i do
is it wrong or not?

It's not the question whether you are right or wrong, it is still base on the individual itself if he is willing to listen to you or not.

If yes, then good, at least you bring someone in the bitcoin market, but it's going to be a long journey for him. And for sure, he will have to research it himself, the risk involved and the profit and loss. Hopefully he can join the community as well so that if he has questions then obviously he can ask around and for sure he will be answered by most senior members here.
1425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 26, 2023, 11:54:45 AM
The return of Brandon Ingram is not enough to end the Pelicans' losing streak. Ingram seems lost and is still to find his rhythm after his long injury. The Pelicans tried to control the game but things changed when the Timberwolves gained momentum in the 3rd quarter and maintained it until the end. Another huge number came from Anthony Edwards with 37 points.

This is the 3rd straight 30+ points by Edwards. Hopefully, he can bring the same momentum when Ja Morant and the Grizzlies visit Minnesota in their next game. Also today, the Grizzlies lost a wild game against GSW. That's the 4th straight loss suffered by the Grizzlies yet they are still looking strong at top 2 in the west.

He did try though specially in the last 2 minutes of the game, but the Timberwolves have every answer on Ingram's score. Of course, it's really hard to come back and make an impact immediately.

And in the 3rd quarter, they really struggled a bit and so it's hard to make a come back when the other team is hitting their shots as well.

Lost my bet here, as I thought that the Pelicans will win big in their homecourt with Ingram.
1426  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did you sell off during the 21k price breach. on: January 26, 2023, 10:27:38 AM
I've actually mostly ignored what happened in the last 3-4 months, my general rule of thumb is not to be bothered too much because I've set myself to long-term.

In the end I've focused on buying and cost averaging.

Good for you mate, that's should be the mindset, even though the price seems to be increasing like everyday this month, still very far from what the prices should be in the long term. So just buying will be the best option for us today and not selling.

DCA or whatever strategy you think will fit for you and your budget, and I think that is the plan that we should have, buy and HODL.

Time flies so fast that we won't notice that it will be second of the year and then bitcoin halving next year.
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you guys think about web3, metaverse? on: January 26, 2023, 02:21:32 AM
Do you think the coins related to web3 and metaverse are bubbles?
I disagree with this opinion.
I think there's enough potential for improvement, what do you think?
I think it's very interesting to be able to store something valuable in a digital wallet, such as a meta mask, just like keeping items in my own inventory in a game or cartoon.

Unless we see a good and working metaverse then we will see what it can really bring to cryptosphere and other industries or sector. Meta has been developing one and spending billions already and yet there are still no progress and there are a lot of unknowns.

So for now we can say that it is hype, not yet a bubble though because we as I have said, there is no model yet. Or if there is one, I don't think it is big enough to be consider a full blown and working metaverse, in my humble opinion.
1428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia on: January 26, 2023, 01:31:31 AM

Hehe no doubt about Manny Pacquiao, the guy hasn't faced any criticism that he avoided the fight that's why lots of people and fans are favoring him and labeling him as one of the greatest boxer in the history. Anyway, rumors will remain rumors as long as there will be no official announcement but think that the Davis-Garcia fight will materialize but for the profit discussion, Davis has got to be in the A-side even if he's already flying alone now.

That's why I miss him, he is a kind of fighter that does not care about his undefeated record, he just fight and always go for a big fight, the reason why he is one of the richest in the sports of boxing. Manny Pacquiao had already retired, but good thing he still do some exhibition fights, so we can still see him in the ring although not pro  anymore.

Davis and Garcia should show the world that they don't care about their undefeated record, they have to fight the best to entertain the fans, because the fans looks like they are robbed when a boxer is just cherry picking to ensure their win.

Manny's mindset is really of a true warrior, he doesn't care about if he has losses or not, as long as he will face the best of his division or for every division that he goes up. But the best is that he fought 3 of Mexico's great warriors, all HOF'ers and that's what makes money a legendary fighter.

As compare to the new breed like Ryan and Tank Davis who are protected by their promotions and doesn't want to see them losses because they are cash cows. But in this fight, someone will experience his first taste of defeat.
1429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin to give ridiculous pumping?? on: January 25, 2023, 12:00:11 PM
Will there be another alt coin that has given ridiculous pumping like Dogecoin in the future?
Tell me what you think.

I think there will be one alt coin that is going to be pump hard this coming bull run, but definitely we don't have any idea what coin is that, it could be either new and old coin, and it's hard to spot in the beginning.

Dogecoin though is very different because it has been pump by Elon Musk himself, so the ridiculous amount of money just flow causing it to swell to x percentage in the bull run and we might not see anything of that huge pump unless someone like Elon hype another project in the future.
1430  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price, January. $20000 or above possible? on: January 25, 2023, 11:43:33 AM
Will bitcoin price increase in January?
Is bitcoin getting back to $20000 in January or not?

we have been in a downtrend for a long time, and In January this Bitcoin is in a trend point that shows up, The value of today's Bitcoin reached $ 20k almost through $ 21k, we see that in a few days Bitcoin started its recovery with one day $ 1 k and this has happened in the past few days, looking at the chart, it can be predicted that in January this Bitcoin will be in the range of $ 20k maybe it could be more.

We have a positive feeling that 2023 will be a better year than the previous years, where the previous year was a bloody Bitcoin year, we believe that this year will definitely be better, and seeing slightly improved market conditions, changes to the green chart started at the beginning of the year and coincided in this January.

It is possible for anything to happen. For the market to gain some confidence, more positive stories and predictions are needed. People will be back to investing if we just get rid of the FUD. This really is as simple as it gets. There are a lot of emotional aspects to this market, but it is good to see the market conditions slightly improving. There is an uptrend in Bitcoin, but there needs to be a cooling off period. I would like to see the daily 200MA returned at least.
Although I didn't have the assurance that Bitcoin would move past the $20000 mark in January, I was so sure that crossing that line would be the least of its achievement in 2023. It's stable above the level now, I hope that there will not be bad stories that will pull it down again. However, retracement is expected after such an outstanding bullish trend. Notwithstanding, the retracement should halt around $19-20k and bring about a full-fledged bullish resumption that might move above $25k in February.

I think for me it's important to go and move past that $20k mark, why? it's a whole number and usually it's a big support line for traders. Remember when we go down below $20K? but we keeps on coming back until the FTX collapse that put negativity on us and then we have a huge down turn and then reaching $15,500.

Now, we are back again at above $20k so that is something that we should look. And if this continues then we might see $25k, maybe in February as you have said. So $20k and then the next barrier will be $25k.
1431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 25, 2023, 07:28:59 AM

I am losing interest in the Grizzlies as well. Ja Morant is acting too much for someone who has not achieved anything yet in the league. They are still a good team just a bit inconsistent and too much talk.

If they continued on like this I think there will be many fans that will be disappointed with their performance, Ja "Almost" Morant doesn't have great stats right now and has been missing some of the crucial games they need and with the recent Sacramento Kings game I think they truly busted their winning percentage and right now when bettors seeing the Memphis Grizzlies names they are already sure that it will be another losing streak for the Memphis Grizzlies,
A 3 game losing streak after an 11 game winning streak.
I don't expect the Grizzlies to play like this in their future games.

What I don't like with them is that, they are acting like they achieve something already like @jakelyson said. TBH, they're the same as the Suns who are acting tough in the league and yet, they can't even win a title. The Grizzlies even trash talked the Warriors last season and look where they ended up. Even that Brooks is acting tough and trash talking on different players, but he achieved nothing as of this moment.

On their game against Sacramento, Morant didn't play and his impact on the team is too much that you can feel it once he isn't playing. Their next game will be against the Warriors on the road. The Warriors are 17-6 on their home against the Grizzlies who is 11-13 on the road. I'm having a feeling that they might lose again. :X

They are playing on the road if I'm not mistaken that's why they had problems facing those home court teams. Yes, it has backfired on them bigtime now, with how they act, even Shannon Sharpe is at it as well. They can't take what Grizzlies is saying, dynasties etc when they haven't win a ring yet.

And then the big mouth leader of them, yeah, high lights dunks and stuff, but unless you are not winning a ring, you need to be respectful.

I only took one bet and it was a lost, not sure what happen to Chicago as everyone who bet on them have bee scratching their heads as regards to the outcome.
1432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Nonito Donaire vs Jason Moloney on: January 24, 2023, 08:21:27 PM
Honestly not getting my hopes up with Donaire knowing how old he is already but from his last fight with Inoue it seems like he still has the hunger for boxing. That being said AFAIK just like what OP said he is vying to fight El Gallo to claim 5 divisions for himself. Although he may entertain this fight because worse comes to worse, he's going to be better prepared against fighters that are younger than him considering moloney's age, best case scenario he has a title to bag for himself. February is not too far now and I think they'd rush the two because money needs to be made. So we may see the two of them fight probably February or any other month that will give them both the time and prep.

He has been younger fighters obviously, even in the WBSS tournament wherein he lost to Inoue the first time, he has fought younger fighters in the elimination rounds. So he is much familiar fighter younger opponents so each won't be any issue for Donaire. And as he matured a lot, he has somewhat learn how to preserved and will just throw if the timing is right for sure. And I think that is the one trick why he is still fighting high level even at age 40 and will have another chance to become a champion.
1433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin gaining this much fame despite it's restrictions? on: January 24, 2023, 06:24:39 PM
Though I'm new in the cryptocurrency space,I have been hearing so much about crypto ( Bitcoin precisely) lately even before I got registered on the forum and I had to ask this very question because in three days I've heard and seen people talk and discuss about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general and it prompted my question wanting to know why it has been talked about this much and gaining more acceptance in my local community despite it's restrictions in my country and is it also gaining this much fame in your environment?

Although not the first cryptocurrency as there are others in the past, but they all failed. But with Satoshi's invention, it really disrupt everything, giving majority of us financial freedom and obviously the price did go up in the last couple of years.

And then we have this kind of activity we call block halving, which we haven't seen before. So the concept and everything is like a first so everyone is jumping on board. Others think it's controversial, calling it scam, and everything negative. But that is the beauty of it, the publicity of it makes it very (in)famous and now everyone wanted to give a piece of it.
1434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cheat the Lottery Winner on: January 24, 2023, 06:09:01 PM
Of course, this is cheating, and both parties are going to suffer as both are victims in my opinion.

I mean you trusted your cousin, that is your blood, then later you found out that he cheated on you for whatever reasons. It's really devastated because you don't understand how the hell can he do that to you. You put everything on him, and just because of money, he suddenly change and became a cheater? And probably too that family will not be the same again.
1435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi among us - for those of you not aware of his (/her) legacy in this forum on: January 22, 2023, 12:37:03 AM
Two questions:
1. Were you aware of this simple fact? - If yes, have you ever read a Satoshi post before?

Yes, I do and from time to time I will have to go back and read his posts because some of them are still applicable even if he suddenly disappears (which is understandable).

Like this one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=532.msg6306#msg6306

" If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry."

2. Did you ever take a look at the Bitcoin whitepaper? - If not, will you do so now?

Yes, but I have to admit that in the beginning, it's hard to understand but that's where this community comes in as you can search or even ask questions if you have doubts about the WP.
1436  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we now on Crypto bull run? on: January 22, 2023, 12:06:27 AM
Its well past the 200 day average but here the slower 50 week average might be of more relevance for its slower momentum.    What can and does happen quite often is if we outrun a down trend then a pressure is released from the back of BTC and this leads to buoyancy and a rebound upwards.   This is too early to call a bull trend as such, dont quite start counting your chickens just yet.

Definitely, it's too early to call this a bull run, it's just the start of the year and many things can affect us, inflation, the war and other black swan events in crypto (like FTX).

So yeah, don't count the chickens yet, we still have like 11 months to go to this to call this a bullish market.

And even if technical indicators like 200 day average have been reach and above it, going to be hard to maintain that level.
1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Is The level of impact of FTX crash on Your portfolio? on: January 21, 2023, 08:03:37 AM
This is 2023 this sort of question is unnecessary, the FTX drama happened around last year and at that time it real affected many people and definitely causes mental depression and financial set backs.

That's the worst though, when those are affected not just their money but their mental health as well. And that is the one of the worst drawback of this crypto investments. Sometimes its hard to lose that hard earn money of us to the point that there are people who thinks of taking their lives by committing suicide.

This is a new year I think those whose portfolio are trying to move over it. So revisiting it by asking such questions aren’t necessary but you can try to find out what we learnt from it.

Gonna be hard, but yes, they should move on and just take this as a experience under their belt.

Hopefully they can get their money back or at least some, once the court liquidated FTX and SBF assets.
1438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin survived the Christmas market pressure on: January 21, 2023, 07:37:39 AM
we are at 17k actually mate the time you posted this , and now still small climbing happens , maybe 20k is near to happening this January(hopefully).

And we made the 20k prediction and even break the benchmark up to 21k this month of January and if all things are equal, the coming months of the year will bring in more market recovery and new prices benchmark for Bitcoin.
The year 2023 just began, and bitcoin and some other altcoins are already showing some positive market attitude that give investors high hope for a better future throughout the remaining part of this year 2023.

Bitcoin and some of the most solid altcoins, but for those altcoins that don't have a fundamentals, its just for pure pump and dump.

Yes, we have broken the bench mark of $20k and I initially thought that we are not going to sustain it, and so I was wrong again. Now, the price is going towards $22k and if that happen at the end of the month then now it's more than double the last lowest low and that is good news to us. And yes, investors are coming towards the market again, buying and then holding, simply strategy and yet it's very effective.
1439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 21, 2023, 05:38:58 AM
When we thought that Kyrie is slacking and not leading the Nets since Durant is out, he finally made it his mission scoring 48 points and grab 11 rebounds. I myself was caught up betting against them in this game.

But he proved us wrong, and we all are trap. Claxton also had a good game, chipping in 20 points.
1440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Another data leak from Mailchimp, wallet affected? NEAR on: January 20, 2023, 05:36:28 AM
I have the same thread open here mate:  Mailchimp hacked again, 133 accounts have been compromised.

And as I have said, this is not the first time for Mailchimp to be hacked or breached and yet they still didn't learn their lessons.

So be careful maybe there will be spats of phishing email again based on the leaked data.
