Let's use some meaningful number.  e.g., e?  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

There's already a pi coin, but it has a lame reward schedule. I would have used the Ramanujan series:

0.8% premine for only 8total coins? that premine is fucking massive. No thank you.

Huh? How is 0.8% of 8 a different fraction of the total coin from 0.8% of any other coin?

Hint: think before you answer.

0.8% is not a scam premine.

I think we need a coin called "1 coin" That's right only 1 coin, get on it guys.

It's been done more than once.

It's time....

Perfectly timed. That comes from hitting "sell".

Don't forget a quick reminder on how to CPU mine this coin. I do all GPU mining, so I'm not really sure what to do.

Stick to your guns. No one is going to think < 1% is an unacceptable premine except trolls. It's better to see the coin succeed than to watch it fail because the developer kowtowed to some troll on a forum.

Graincoin OS X Wallet Binaries

I finally got around to putting together OS X wallet binaries for graincoin. Two are available:

OS X 10.7: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8rWObF4xz1YeERVc3cxeGJVLUE/edit?usp=sharing
OS X 10.9: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8rWObF4xz1Ya3c0bTlBel9hZkk/edit?usp=sharing

These binaries required changing the code in some places, so I'll put up a pull request soon at github.

The tiny icons for the binaries are the Graincoin symbol, ,  which seems to be endorsed by bosian and got favorite votes from myself and a couple of others in an informal poll. The symbol looks like this in a sentence:

One bitcoin shouldn't go for any more than 80, IMO.

Note that I put a 4pt space between and the "80".

The symbol can be integrated into your posts using the following links:

10 pt (bitcointalk default)

    OS X Binary Downloads

This is a great coin! It reminds me of graincoin, which is awesome. Too bad CASH will be impossible to mine in a week, once people wake up to it.

I made a couple of OS X binary downloads, since I noticed none are available from the announcement.

Soon, I'll put a pull request to the repository for the changes needed to compile these binaries.

Do we even need a fork now that the coin is alive again?

He's alive only because some guys decided to pump it like never before, without even being sure to have any ROI from what I see.

    CAT is a he?

Also, someone is trying to crash it right now, but it isn't working. Yes, it was pumped, but the buy support has to be there for a pump to work.

Anyway, I just raked in the CAT on that last shakedown. If you have some to dump, put up a sell order at the top of the list and see how long it lasts.

    [addendum]

If you are watching right now on cryptsy, notice the disparity between the buy orders and the sell orders. Every transaction is a buy right now and there are no pump orders (the 0.00095100 is a glitch and has been stuck there all day). This coin doesn't need a pump.

I've created grain-qt builds for OS X 10.7 and OS X 10.9 (no access to 10.8 at this point).

I had to change the code in a couple of places to fix compile-time errors, but these changes have been incorporated into wallets for other coins (like DOGE), so I think they should be safe for building for other systems. I also had to make an OS X icon file, which is missing from the graincoin git repository.

Although beautiful, the official grain logo is pretty much unacceptable for tiny icons, so I made e from the selection below as the tiny icon. See this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=361503.msg4615800#msg4615800

I imagine the tiny icon to be the grain symbol (much like BTC for bitcoin). I took a poll and it seemed like e is a clear winner (I was the tie-breaker).

So, what is the best way to

    • Make the executables available?
    • Lobby for adoption of e as the official symbol (simply to get the issue of tiny icons resolved)?

Also, is the git repository taking pull requests?

Yep Catcoin is broken, block target is 10 minute... Current Block time is almost 2 hours...

Strong work devs.. there "was" increasing interest in the coin.

Was? Too late for cheap CAT, so you can quit trying.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 22, 2014, 05:07:16 PM

You are number one. The whole world has just come down on you.
Get your pants on. This isn't some quick little thing.

guess this was the purpose of the whole exercise... to buy up loose CATs while making it very profitable at average difficulty and now fixing the difficulty adjustment... if that plan works out and promotion picks up then deserves a CAT monument!

Well they can do it again, as diff just went to 63.

I don't think there is much to worry about. The CAT is out of the bag. It has entered the public consciousness and is linked to DOGE by virtue of the Daily Beast article.

It might be a good idea to postpone any fork until the price and volume stabilizes. Investors are jumpy creatures.
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: January 22, 2014, 09:11:28 AM
I just watched one buyer position until they were able to rake in almost 12 BTC of cat.
Was watching that, too. He threw himself against a 40btc wall, now it is about ~29BTC. Probably not the best move though... His lack of buy support will cause the price to collapse.

I got under that trader while they were fumbling around. At first, I thought their 11 BTC was a fake wall to support a pump, and then I realized what they were doing.

The new DOGE wealthy are throwing money around. I think a lot of eyes are on CAT.

The wall is currently being chipped away... bit by bit

    relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q75vu3YV8jo

The 0.00059 buy wall has gone down.

There is absolutely NO ONE placing buy order below the top selling price. Moon time.
