14281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MicroBT WhatsMiner M30S++, M30S+, M30S, M31S+ Hardware Specifics on: April 17, 2020, 01:09:29 PM
Thanks for follow up.
I would not mind having a few.

I have a few m20s   one does 68 other does 40
I have a few m21s  they do 53th
I had 10 m10 now 2 one does 22 other does 28

I had 2 m3   now gone

They all tend to run hot on top speed setting.

Support was so so from pangolin.

The new ones all insist on running a c19 to c20 connection at very high watts.  3472 watts / 208 volts = 16.6 amps  constant run on 20 amp connections that rate   16 amp constant run.

Pisses me off that   they simply refuse to build them safely.   3472 watts = 5% = 3645 watts / 208 = 17.5 amps constant run on a 20 amp connection that rates 16 amp constant run.

I fear having 20 of these since  a meltdown is pretty likely.

My power is pretty tight at 218 to 228 which is a bit better

3472/218 = 15.9 amps this is barely legal to do according to code in New Jersey
3645/218 = 16.7 amps this is not code.

I really would like a 3000 watt or less unit  if they insist on the c19 to c20 connection.

14284  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: change Voltage & Frequency using cgminer api on: April 17, 2020, 11:56:00 AM
I want to write a software that will adapt frequency and voltage automatically based on availability of energy (coming from the wind), energy prices (changing frequently - every 15 min) and bitcoin price. When lots of wind is blowing, electricity is available plenty and cheaply. In that case I want to run with very high voltage and frequency. When energy is expensive, I want to either turn off mining completely or run with much lower power to still be profitable. (Better energy efficiency - Mhash / J).

I cannot sit in front of my computer all day checking energy and bitcoins prices, manually changing voltage and frequrency to make sure I am running on a profit. Thats why I need to automate these tasks and have my software/server configure the miners for me.

That is an ambitious undertaking. If it were to succeed it would be valuable for renewable energy mining.  Please keep posting if you have any progress with the programming.

https://www.microbt.com/?locale=en

does not seem to list the 30s++

but I am assuming he was given insider info as I have seen this happen at times with the m10 and the m20

I did find a page with the 31s+

and better prices would be needed to sell product.

I did like the article.
14287  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Should I make an isolation box for my phone? on: April 17, 2020, 03:22:34 AM
I have a beautiful copper box lined with walnut.

I place that in a stainless steel lunch box.
I also have cloth wallet lined with metallic material.

amazing that none of the three items above do the trick alone.

you need two of the three.

the copper box 📦 is a bit tight so I keep other electronics in it.

I use the cloth wallet and the stainless steel box when i drive.

both from amazon.

search

phone wallet faraday on amazon for cloth wallet with lining.

bento box stainless steel .

put phone in wallet
put wallet in bento box.

you will also be water proof with correct bento box.

here is the cloth wallet

https://www.amazon.com/Blocking-ONEVER-Protection-Anti-Tracking-Anti-Spying/dp/B07BQM75MH/ref=sr_1_3?

here is the bento box  you want it without the divider

https://www.amazon.com/G-HOMEFAVOR-Stainless-Containers-Dishwasher/dp/B07NW77BS6/ref=sr_1_10?

If you put phone in wallet
then put wallet in bento box
the phone is dead to the world
14288  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining USA/DE 255 blocks solved! on: April 16, 2020, 10:38:55 PM
Thanks for your answer ! I understand better now

But let’s go deeper:
- NH calls solo.ckpool stratum protocol to get new job
- NH launches the hash batch until to find a hash below the target

In this configuration, we have some latencies that create disavantages according to
Big master miner (I guess their server in China are close to bitcoin core block chain, they get directly the new block and starts the hashing

My point is :
- big master miner starts before us to iterate A + Nonce(0 to 2^32) with a 100 PH/s
- in our side, we start a micro seconds after to iterate with a 164 th/s

Even if we have no latency and we start together to iterate from 0 to 2^32, the big master miner will win for sure

How is it possible to be lucky with this ?

okay lets agree that on every new block you are out numbered. the villian has six thousand x your hash.

and he gets a .1 tenth of a second head start.

since the average block is 1 every six hundred seconds. he has 600/599.9 edge and he has 6000 to 1 edge.

multiply and he jumps to 6002 to edge.

so every 6002 blocks or so you could beat him. with your hash if you hit 1 block in 5000 days your would have average luck.

snap holy shit you hit a fucking block right as i type damn that is great luck. or 5000 days from now zero blocks you start to reach the beginning of bad luck.

I have seen 12x blocks which is really unlucky.  it would be like you taking 60000 days to hit a block.

This project has travelled 🧳 sideways. The host was able to sign a longterm contract for power from the power company. After analyzing all costs he is going with the pre paid power.  we still get our power deal 50-50 coin split but no solar for at least six or seven more months.

So as I read the op.  Hacker was caught and punished admitted he was guilty served his time.

Are there new infractions?

OP could you list the end date of hacker's 60 ban.
Op could you list new sins after hacker's 60 day ban.

Something like his ban ended on  July 18 2019

on aug 2019 he did this post
on sept 2019 he did this post
on oct 2019 he did this post

OR ALL THE SINS YOU HAVE PREDATE THE BAN HAMMER

Hello everyone,

With a hash rate of 164th/sec , do I have really 1 chance on 5000 (average) by day to find a block?
I am on Nicehash to test and for the moment my best share is on 10 digits
It does not change since 5 days... can we really be lucky to find a block with this configuration ?

Newbie question
- this configuration against 100 ph/sec... How a 164 th/s can find a block before a 100 ph/sec using NH?
I don t understand the lucky part...

lets do the second question.

you spin a roulette wheel 1 time. looking for 27
first spin boom 27 , damn you are a lucky mother fucker

I spin a roulette wheel 6000 times looking for 27
i never get it not one time that is bad luck really bad luck.

it is 6000 times more likely for me to get 27 then you.

but you can do it.

as for the odds of 164 th hitting a block in a day being 5000 to one i think that is close.
14296  Economy / Economics / Re: China will rule world as economy king after crisis end? on: April 16, 2020, 12:21:51 AM
Trump is trying to get the US reopened as soon as possible, which should limit the economic hit it's going to take (though who knows if it's too soon as far as the outbreak is concerned), and I don't think the US in general is going to get killed economically when all is said and done.  So if that's the case, I don't think China will end up more dominant than it already is--but that scenario certainly could happen.  China is a huge country with a lot of citizens and a booming economy.

Also, I think this "crisis" is going to end up being shorter than most people realize.  It seems like life has changed permanently around the world, but this isn't going to last forever.  I don't even think it's going to last more than a few more months, but we'll see.

US will pull plants out of China

use india and mexico more.

maybe thailand and philippines.

china will take a hit on manufacturing goods for other companies in other countries.

the interesting thing will be does iPhone drop and hauwei phone increase?

This virus 🦠 shows a lot of world wide weakness in supply chains ⛓. It will be interesting to see how things shift about.
14297  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: April 15, 2020, 11:40:58 PM
buysolar is running a s17+ it is really good.

we have a t17+ in clifton farm it sucks.

i would not mind ordering an s17+

we will be turning off 28 s9s that do about 315th.

if i order an s17+ and we bring up 2 s17+ that would be 140th to replace some of the 315th we are turning off.

we will be freeing 25-28kwatts

2 s17+ are only 6 kwatts.

it is tempting.

anyone have any coupons?

i would also consider getting more T17+ i would hate to see them end up doing only two boards.

they are pretty cheap.

i wonder if i pull the dead board and run with a psu and a controller if it works.
14298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can go to proof of stake after they see how ethereum goes on: April 15, 2020, 11:22:31 PM
<snip>
I'm not expert enough in the technical aspects of crypto to understand why you have the opinion you have, but I respect it nonetheless--and I know there's a big rift between PoS supporters and those who only favor PoW.

But I'm thinking bitcoin won't ever move to a PoS algorithm, as that would be like adding baking soda to the formulation for Coca-Cola.  It just wouldn't be bitcoin.  I am interested to see how ETH turns out as a PoS coin, though.  I don't own any and probably wouldn't be motivated enough to buy 32 of them in order to stake it, but I'm curious to see whether it's going to be a success.

Bitcoin users are too stupid to move to proof of stake,
they prefer being slaves to a centralized mining cartel that wastes the world's energy resources in the name of pure greed.
Yeah, there's that big rift I was referring to above.

POS is basically a zero back bond a junk bond much like an uninsured bank account.

If you can convince me I have recourse  with a POS coin fine.

POW is backed by power.

all the POW in the entire world uses less power then Niagara falls  power plants USA and Canada based.

POW allows power shunting for power grids.
POW creates an economic incentive to create solar arrays

Downside  oil coal and gas get burned  to mine.

That is the fault of all the governments in the world that simply choose to not incentivize solar arrays for mining coins.

So here is a hammer  (pow)

crack heads with it and zero murder laws which basically most of the world's governments are allowing.

or use the hammer to build solar arrays which basically most of the world'd governments don't do

So POS pushers   refuse to acknowledge  the real issues  which  are fucked up governments allowing coal to be burned in favor of solar power.

New Jersey USA is a solar leader due to its incentives for solar power.

I could rail on this over and over.

But I won't>  POS = piece of shit  an uninsured bank account or bond.  convince me otherwise.  As I am easy to bend if you have a legit argument.

A  10% high risk investment   for a POS coin is not a good arguement.
even 50% return is not a good argument.

Explain to me what  is the difference between  a junk bond and a pos coin.

by the way a junk bond is better in some cases as it may have company assets behind it.

In 1990's kmart issued 15%  junk bonds that actually were paid off.

POS coins are designed to fail there is no value in them.  They are all clonable with no gear to back them.

Show me I am wrong.  This is directed at Khaos77 (nice name as we will be in total chaos if we all go the way of pos coins)
