"If I understand correctly, nvidia cards may have advantage this time, compared to amd cards?"

Yes, a CUDA miner would only work with Nvidia cards, as CUDA is a Nvidia patented technology.

CUDA is a Nvidia only technology, so people who invested into GPU mining rigs won't benefit from a CUDA miner.

Anyone working on a GPU miner yet? Here's some help: http://www.macs-site.net/CudaPrimes.htm

Hopefully not, because:
1) Primecoin looks to be GPU-resistant, it will be very hard to implement calculating it's long integers on something that is design to deal only with vertices
2) GPU rigs are the cancer for mining, eliminating 99% of regular people who are not OK with the idea of monster cases with external GPUs all over the place, laptop users with no external cards, etc. Non-existence of GPU miner is the main reason for Primecoin's unusual popularity. People are successfully mining even on Raspberry Pi's.
Without GPU's, the only people who will make any money will be the people with botnets or EC2 instances.

Strange I'd found another block but it wasn't showing in transactions only in Immature coins, so I restarted and then the transaction was there but no coins underimature. Restarted again and now nothing in either place.

Same thing happen to me but with 6 blocks I think you where part of the fork.

I'm sad that was good amount of blocks I'll never see again.
If it makes you feel better, the only reason you found those blocks is because you were on the wrong chain, so if you were using the correct fork, you probably wouldn't have gotten any blocks at all.

My cloud instances report the same results, and those are running the recompiled version of your official codebase, Sunny. Seems like the majority are on the right fork. What about users of the unoptimized original client?
I'm on the original client and I have the correct fork.

Now we wait until someone makes a Primecoin clone called ULTRA-VALUE-GEM-BAR-DIAMOND-PLATINUM-GOLD-SUPER-FUCKTASTIC-Coin with twice the block reward and a 100,000 premine.

Found 3 more blocks with my i7 last night. Cheesy 8 Total in the last 72 hours with the first released client.
1448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 11, 2013, 04:37:55 AM
At the current pace of difficulty,  block reward will be less than 1 XPM in 25 days.  You are looking at a massive spike in valuation when people realize this coin will have a very limited supply.
Like I said, speculation rarely keeps up with minting after the hype in Altcoins, and the fact that I made $40 just running my i7 desktop for 3 days makes me very cautious about the valuation.

I clicked the link and logged in like a pro, but realized this quick and changed my password on the real site. I use different passwords everywhere and have 2 step. I should be good right?
Yes. I made the same stupid mistake when I brainlessly tried to log in without asking myself why I got logged out.

I did get logged off a few times today on the real forum, probably the phisher trying to log into my account and getting locked out.

You have a point. This isn't another shitcoin, but you do have a point.
Exactly, I believe that this is a cool currency with a great concept behind it. I'm just basing my decisions on logic, instead of greed, unlike most of the market.

Bitcoin isn't golden in this respect either, but I'm trading a currency based on faith for a currency based on slightly more faith. I might want to buy something that I can't get with Bitcoins, so I'll then trade those for a currency with based on even more faith, at which point I can walk into a store and buy a bag of Skittles, the best currency, because I don't need faith when I know for a fact that Skittles are delicious.

I sold 70 primecoins for .25BTC on Coins-e a few hours ago and cleaned out the bid table. Lol I love small markets.

yeah suckers born every minute.

why buy primecoin....hey I'll sell you actual real life prime numbers if you like people?

I still have a couple more blocks that haven't matured yet, I'll probably dump'em when Primecoin hits BTC-E. $25 for running my desktop for 72 hours, not bad lol.

yeah there be plenty of miners sweating on their block maturing, to get them sold asap while its the current flavor
Just sold another block for $5 worth of Bitcoins. Nom nom nom those bid walls are delicious.

Do you happen to have a link to this site?
coins-e.com

Warning, the site is pretty shitty. No https or SSL, so trade with caution. It was the only site I found with them listed already.

I just added Primecoin to http://coinmarketcap.com.  ~$50k now... should be interesting to watch where it goes from here.  Cool
Which market are your calculations drawing from?

It's a smart idea, but mathematically, Primecoin is on a race to the bottom, so I have to play a little Game Theory.

$40 for just typing setgenerate true 3 days ago is clearly unsustainable, sooo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HX0fIi3H-es

Of course. But think about this: the harder they get to generate, the more they may be worth. So price may go UP, not down.
Until a GPU miner comes along, mining Primecoins is basically free. They don't become more difficult to generate, they are just more evenly spread out.

We have to predict if the money brought into the Primecoin market by speculators can keep pace with or exceed the rate at which they are generated. Looking back on the hundreds of failed Altcoins, the only logical action I can take is to sell when hype is high.

I was wondering if it was possible to add a button to quote just a single message, instead of talking in a long conversation and having every single post stack to the moon or go through and delete earlier stuff.

Quit selling cheap, you're killing profits. Let the bidders sweat for a little while; it'll cause them to bid higher. Tongue
Haha, the way I figure, there are infinite primecoins, but speculator's money has to end at some point.

Yeah the spread on coins-e is pretty shitty. They only bids on there for a few hours were in the .001BTC range, until someone through up a .003 bid. I ate into that right quick.
