What do you guys think will happen to the price after the next halving?

It will have to double, for the coin to stay alive.
Wouldn't that be nice for the price to double. But if the price doesn't change, the coin doesn't die. The difficulty will shrink to half and everything will resume as normal.

but ASICs

Still, only two real believers, compared to the vocal army of cheerleaders.
Don't they want to be rich?

Maybe they are betting that ACTM is going to make money back so all their current funds are tied up?

Maybe no one cares?

How is this possible that this company is trading for less than IPO price when there is infinitely more information now about its chances of delivering?

Because on Bitfunder a lot of people had shares bought for 0.0005 or so. They're now taking their profit.

On BTCT they started at 0.0025 and the price is a more fair reflection of things.

Also as only a third of shares where issued on BTCT

Yes hard to say what is accurate as the prices are possibly tainted on both exchanges, this seems like its a problem between Ukyo and Burnside however.

Im currently still looking for anybody who wants to swap my shares on Bitfunder for theirs on BTCT (max 4K with a nice fee)

The information overload and confused jumble of images and text on the products pages of the current website says it all, irrespective of aesthetics.

Come on Ken, you wouldn't have made it this far if you hadn't listened to us.

Can someone from the board impress upon Ken how the majority of shareholders feel about the importance of this issue please?
1445  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: September 11, 2013, 02:09:58 AM

Agreed. This website is miles ahead of the old one
1446  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: September 10, 2013, 04:20:00 PM
I think splitting the 10 million public shares between Bitfunder and BTCT is fair. I personally have half on each anyways. Everyone is saying Bitfunder is undervalued but what if BTCT is overvalued. The demand on BTCT is far greater with a limited supply, this taints the price. The only way to tell would be to split the shares evenly, or to let people go back and forth freely for a fee (I dont see why Ken has to do all the share swapping)
1447  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: September 09, 2013, 05:22:34 PM
If any whales want to do a share swap between Bitfunder and BTCT for a fee I have a couple thousand I wouldnt mind getting transferred over to BTCT.

PM me!

Allow inter-exchange share transfers -> BTCT and BF. What argument is there against this?

Will this ever be possible??

Im arbing all my shares and picking up a few extra thousand for free

How?

Sell 1000 Shares on BTCT.
Buy 1300 Shares on Bitfunder.

Hey folks, I have a spare $40k

I want to know if its worth it to buy a mining rig and if so, what should I buy and how do I run it?

Or is it better just to put the cash into bitcoins and just sit on them for a few years?

I want to try mining just for fun, but am a complete noob.

Someone please enlighten me.

Note, this is cash that I can afford to lose, but obviously I'm looking for a profit Smiley

Why not invest instead in a mining company?

Thats what im doing atm

I would get some shares from ActM

I'm still not convinced! It's a press release anyone can send out a press release. I want to see one running at 25 therhash. If this company can build a unit that can generate that kind of hashing power why the hell would you sell it to the public! Selling units that powerful will make it impossible for anyone else to mine. Just a few of these on the market will cause the difficulty to go through the roof which will make those powerful units not profitable! The only logical and business wise thing to do is for them to mine themselves!

I would stay away from them. Just like Butterfly labs this company that sells the units wants the money up front for pre orders. It smells like a scam to me. I emailed them and they told me they are doing a crowd funding thing. I feel if a company wants to do crowd funding go to Kickstarter and collect small donations don't put up a store that looks like they are available and collect the full price of a unit that doesn't and most likely will never exist!

If you want to buy a ASIC unit go on Craigslist or Bitmit or Coingig and buy one that already exists that can be shipped at time of purchase. Stop falling for these pre order scams it's starting to get ridicules!

Not a scam:

Everyone is going to be shocked when this becomes a reality
They are working with eASIC to go straight to 28 nm.
eASIC has worked Microsoft and Seagate, so this announcement is HUGE

They will be running a public mining farm with dividends paid out to shareholders (Similar to ASICMINER business model)
Shares can be bought here:

ActiveMining: A Fresh Start!

Introduction
ActiveMining is a virtual identity totally owned by the Active Mining Corporation that represents both itself and its profits. ActiveMining's business includes cryptocoin mining and sales of self-built ASIC devices through its wholly owned subsidiary Virtual Mining Corporation (VMC).

Currently, it is expected for interested ActiveMining's public investors to hold 10,000,000 ActiveMining shares (40% of the profits), while Active Mining Corporation owner(s) shall hold 15,000,000 ActiveMining shares (60% of the profits), for a total of 25,000,000 ActiveMining virtual shares that represent 100% of the global profits of ActiveMining.

Public investor's protection plan
The first 10,000,000 ActiveMining shares have the privilege of getting all profits until BTC0.0025/share is paid, starting from the day when dividends begin to be paid.

How to buy shares
ActiveMining shares will be sold on BitFunder and BTCT.CO and any other exchange, following asset approval or tendered by AMC shares. Existing Active Mining Cooperative (AMC) shareholders will be entitled to tender their shares for ActiveMining shares, on a 1:1 basis and are also covered in the public investor's protection plan.

Dividend payment
The global ActiveMining's income, including mining income, hardware sales via bitcoins, other cryptocoins and fiat transferred to bitcoins, will be paid to ActiveMining shareholders proportionally, when all manufacturing, maintenance, labor costs, R&D, growth and miscellaneous expenses are deducted. The first BTC0.0025/share dividends will only be paid to the first 10,000,000 ActiveMining shares, providing public investors a priority in getting back 100% return of their investment.

Our chips in development
Generation 1: Fast-Hash. 28nm. Each chip's rated frequency is 800 MHz at 1.15V. It translates to 16,000 MH/s because it does 20 hashes per cycle. Chip requires proper handling of heat and power supply. It is expected the chip can be overclocked to 1000 MHz @ 20,000 MH/s.

"Our existing hardware assets from AMC liquidation
  • 6 Avalon miners, currently running on BTC Guild under "Team AMC" for around 430 GH/s;
  • An order of Avalon chips from steamboat's batch #1, for 68 Klondike-16 boards, rated at 68*16*282 = 307 GH/s

I have just noticed that VMC doesnt accept bitcoin for purchases...hopefully this changes in the future?
Considering we're a BTC company this is alot of potential demand that cant be satisfied
1454  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: September 06, 2013, 03:56:11 AM
Hey guys were not gonna be hashing until late November so your shares are basically worthless until then.
Selling now is a great idea

Manipulation much?

There are still some Klondikes awaiting non-cancelled Avalon chips AFAIK... Wonder if Avalon will do anything compensatory (well, delivering would be a good start!).

Pure manipulation attempt on my part
Klondikes will be something to look forward to, definitely forgot about those...
1455  Economy / Securities / Re: ActiveMining Overview and Speculation Thread on: September 05, 2013, 08:59:39 PM
I don't see a problem with mining on the main blockchain with prototypes, so long as we don't do it with production units like Avalon did. The AMC branch of ActiveMining theoretically has the first "order" for VMC FastHash-One machines, and it is known that AMC is a mining company, so running a few prototypes (which are not intended to be shipped to public customers) shouldn't be a surprise. With Avalon, they were advertising themselves as a hardware company only, and they were "testing" miners for days or weeks before shipping them to customers where they arrived dusty and used in appearance, and forced customers to wait that extra time they were "testing."

To be fair, the miners should be run for an extended period of time to make sure they can holdup. It just so happens to benefit the company in this case to test the units.

For those who are a bit slow on the uptake, think of how ActM's price just shot up to 0.006x BTC in minutes just from confirmation that there would be no new hashing power till half way through November. Now, think about how LC's price is going to increase when then actually start mining and paying divs in a couple of days. It should be obvious the price is going to smash 0.01 BTC and it's going to do so in a matter of minutes. This will cause big selloffs in ActM as people switch to LC, like we just saw with people selling LC to buy ActM.

and then think about, come mid-november, which ActM blasts LC out of the pond with hashing power, whats going to happen to respective share prices. Sorry buddy, I'm in for the long haul.

Exactly.

Activemining is scaleable to the tits, and will start Slaughtering the race to largest farm. Labcoin says they plan on deploying 200-300 TH this year. ACTM will probably have that right away with only 10 fully packed Platinum miners, once the chips starts rolling in Watch out!

Ps. You have to remember this news hasnt hit Coindesk, Genesis Block etc. yet
