1441  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies, beware of NFT scams! on: August 29, 2023, 03:25:42 PM
Everything you described is just another internet scam scheme. There is not much difference compared to the famous offers with the inherited fortune of the Nigerian prince, where it takes a few hundred dollars to pay off, which I believe we have all received at least once.
YouTube is full of smart characters who talk about making big profits through NFT, and that is enough for beginners to believe in such offers.
Why are you referring to Nigerians? Are there no scammer in your country and other countries? This is the definition of Nigerian prince according to Wikipedia when I searched for it online:

Do not let us use one country to refer to scam on this forum. No country is innocent.

The NFT market is in a knockdown and the recovery will be very difficult, I personally do not believe that it will ever reach the level it had a year or two ago. I can't say I'm not happy about it.  Wink
They are selling something of no value with money. People's ignorance was the reason NFTs were popular. The only NFTs that can be recognized are the ones like celebrity, important person like Donald Trumps and those like Jack Dorsey.
We should make sure to verify our information before being in a haste to let it out to the public domain so we don't dent the image and character of a people out of ignorance based on I-hear-say kinds of informations. That's why we have the word   research , because not all informations from the social media is correct or legit.
Fraud and scams are activities not subjected to specific people or country, it's widely all over the world and no well meaning entity will dare to support it devices.
1442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever been scammed ? on: August 29, 2023, 02:39:32 PM
Yes, I have been scammed once for $5,000. I was paying from my Ledger Hardware Wallet to Exchange for a quick P2P Withdraw and I realized I sent it to some address which has exactly same first 5 characters and last 5 characters similar to my Exchange Deposit Address. The attack which was done on me was Address Poisoning. I just copied the address from my Recent Transaction History on Ledger and sent $5k USDT. I still feel ashamed of that as I have kept myself safe from every other possible scam attack.
It's okay to feel ashamed for encountering such a costly mistake at the brief period it happened, but you don't have to beat yourself up about it for long and being ashamed till now. Every human is prone to mistake and we have at different times in life made our different mistakes of different degrees but we just don't have to live with it.  So mate let the shame go away mistake is part of life and no one is above it, we can only try not to repeat it and am sure you're doing that.

.
3. Greedy scammed. Those who were promised crazy returns without doing anything. (Bitconnect for example or Madoff in TradFi))
6. The betrayed scammed. Whether a beginner or an expert, the betrayed scammed has trusted someone (friend, colleague, lover...) and lost his or her funds.

Has this happened to you or someone you know ?
I have had a direct experience with number  3 but as for number 6 it was a friend that fell for that in his early stage in cryptocurrency.

I got involved with some virtual mining stuff like that, where i had to pay money to purchase a crypto mining machine in the platform which will be mining coins for me every day and eligible to withdraw the coins to my wallet at each end of the month. It was a funny experience actually as I had to always checking the platform first thing eaxh morning I wake up to see how my investment was going. Long story short, I woke up one morning after two weeks of investing into it only to get a massage that the site is doing an upgrade and we should wait for update very soon, for over more than 3 years now am still waiting for the damn update about the site upgrade. Lol.
That was how I lost my money to that virtual mining scam.

As for the number 6, it happened to a friend who trusted another friend of his to buy him bitcoin into his wallet, just for his friend to
buy below the amount he gave him money for and sent to his wallet, at that time this my very friend don't know how to calculate bitcoin or convert it to usdt because he was just trying to learn about crypto from the very person that was scamming him. It was after some months he got to know he was shortchanged in the amount of bitcoin his so-called friend sent to his wallet.
 How awful.

I finally created an account yesterday to enable have the access to be part of the forum. I created this account yesterday and today I’ve been able to make some posts/comments in some of the contents here.

Although I used to initially have an account some time ago but I kinda lost the password to the account and lost access to the account, although when I created the account I was unable to make posts due to a proxy ban on the account, but with the help of a VPN browser I’ve been able to create another account that now allows me to make posts and now I can make posts and comments.
For a member that have had an old account before and yet doing an introduction about his come back with a new account after allegedly losing his old account to what I will term due to his carelessness. It makes it clear to grasp that you never really used the old account for long cause if you had you would have known that it's of no use making an introduction thread.

Anyway, you're welcome back to the forum try hard to keep your new account password to memory so we don't get another introduction of this type later in time to come from you again announcing your second missionary journey return. Pay attention to rules of the forum, read threads that will uplift your knowledge in the forum so in the nearest future you can confidently contribute to the growth and thickness of the forum.

1445  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How late is too late to place a bet for a gambler? on: August 29, 2023, 08:41:50 AM
So many leagues and tournaments across the world have resumed preliminary matches of the season, as well as bookies and online bet platforms have rolled up their sleeves in response, to provide the best odds and bet options for its customers.

For so many reasons a bettor or gambler might make a late last minute decision that can either make them win big or lose big or prevent them from losing much bet on games they have played.

In order not to over stretch this topic, I just want us to dialogue candidly on your personal experience as to the one time you were so late in making a bet, but had to do it anyways.
Did that last minute bet make you win or you lost more and regretted the decision?

How late is too late to place a bet or make a wager in both online and offline games and matches?

Are there also good online platforms or betting sites that have good last minute betting options for matches/games?
With the advancement of gambling no time is too late for any game particularly in sports bets  you can place your bet while the match has kickstart if you miss to do so before it started. There are availability of numerous options that you can't find any excuse not to place your bet except you didn't want to and all come with different risks to loss and gains.

I don't frequently gamble as at most it is twice or thrice a week meanwhile I always bet on sports games, and there have been times I have booked my games for the weekend but didn't place a bet immediately only to realize later on that some games has kick-started affecting the total amount of odds in all my accumulated games but I do still go on placing a bet on the odds that's left and many times I have made winnings in such scenarios than I have lost.

For those games that had started already and we're no more among my booked games ends up with a bad outcome that could have spoilt my supposed winning, so at times some games we missed to add in our bets can be of positive results to our bets missing out on them.
1446  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application 🚩 on: August 28, 2023, 10:07:06 PM
I am not surprised by the unanimous reception of your application and how people enthusiastically admire your decision to apply for a merit source, you are a man with popular repute in the forum.

You have done that which you should do by applying for a merit source  and not that you desire to be a merit source in your own interest but for the service  and profit of the community for those good posts that deserves merit but are denied because of the insufficient number of merit source in the forum.

With your addition to the merit source we already have in the forum there's going to be a degree of expansion and it's only necessary that those that wants  to serve be giving the opportunity by the forum admin.

Icopress, your application has my support.

What I mean by that is that at this point of
the discussion am sure we've both understood  each other's point.
1450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I thought I would never get hacked... on: August 28, 2023, 05:44:59 PM

I don't know you the thief is, but I really wish that they lose all of their belongings.

You don't need to know the thief and I think those wish/swear words of yours are unnecessary and the occurrence will repeat itself if you don't take appropriate measures to safely keep your private keys in place. I believe your funds weren't gotten access to because you're using a wallet with 12 private keys, same would have happened even if it was a 24 private keys phrase because this seems to happen due to a malware (maybe from a careless use of it online) or you exposure to a third party unknowingly to you. Swearing won't help but taken adequate measure towards your security online will do just fine.

Ok. I have noted that but I will keep swearing against anyone when they get unauthorized access to my coins. Apart from that, there are 3 pages in this thread where we go into detail in regards to the mistake I ve made. If you leave the door open at night, it is a stupidity. But this doesn't mean someone has any right to get inside and steal.
You're absolutely right mate no one has a right to walk into another privacy and steal a property, but not everyone will behave or think in the way you do. The world has gone beyond were people take to heart between what's bad and what's good. So you should be able to embrace between what it is from what ought to be, and take your security above anything else.

So like the saying goes, when you're in Rome you behave like a Roman. Which literally mean, in a world like this never be stupid to leave your door open, there could be someone nextdoor waiting for the opportunity to hup in at any slightest chance to steal from you. Apply this ideology same to your wallet  private keys.
At this junction I take my bow not to return to this same discuss believing we are at square with it.
1451  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY WITH LESS MONEY? on: August 28, 2023, 04:35:32 PM
Maximize Risk-Taking:
Go for meme plays x10 or x100, or even lose it all. Take huge futures leverages. In the worst-case scenario, you might lose everything, but if you win, your $150 could turn into $1,500 or even $15,000.
Wait what? Are you suggesting taking risks like that? Just because you are investing what you can afford to lose doesn't mean you should lose all willingly. Every trade contains risks, NGL, but that's why we use risk management. This gives us the advantage to keep the loss to minimum and maximize our profits. But saying things like this and encouraging people to use high leverage is misleading.
[
Op was just contradicting himself throughout each step of the way down the thread, and it perplex me to ask is OP just trying to catch cruise with us or is he really serious about all what he has said.

He's advised that a trader should go all in on a project or should take huge features leverage of x100, like how does he expect a trader with less money to go all in into such preposterous manner of trading that has little or no chance of winning a trade but the making of elephantine losses. I peck it to be a gambling strategic and not for trading, because there's no risk management in all of that, it's not even about investing what you can afford to lose, it's foolish to act so.

1454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I will pass KYC later is a bad idea on: August 28, 2023, 12:59:31 PM
You are right, some people who feel that it's good to deposit and play gambles first before verifying it kyc is the best, they are people who complain mostly in gambling websites, kyc verification needs to be done before involving in any act of things in a particular platform, because I believe that why some people do have issues in a particular platform is because they refuse to follow the instructions of gambling platform I know, so in particular gambling platform you need to study their requirements first before associating or working with them properly.

They get what they wanted, though. People who aren't really taking the time to review everything and not act upon what they find are the ones who are really asking for trouble. They already know the possibility, and they already tried the game. What else do they need to find out? If other people are already submitting KYC docs to the casino, what stops them from doing the same anyway?
People don't like verifying their accounts and that is causing alot problems to the participants of gambling in a particular gambling site, what a platform needed in gambling is that you have to know their kyc is necessary and I believe that anyone that have done their Kyc have no issues to that particular platform but gamblers does not show concern of verifying their accounts expect that they have issues of withdrawing their money. So it's good to work in accordance with your platform not by complaining when everything is getting late to resolve
It still baffles my imagination on how a gambler will open a gambling account with a gambling site and won't consider completing the comprehensive requirements that's needed for the verification of his account before going further to deposit money into that account for gambling use. Only to get back wailing and throwing tantrum when gambling fortune smiles on him he won an appreciable sum of amount of money and is being restricted from making withdrawal by the gambling site sighting his incompletion of kyc to that account.

Every institution has their a module of operation and any client that doesn't appeal to it's operations is free to check for an alternative that meets his need, and not to forge ahead with that which he's not appealing with. Maybe some of these gamblers ain't aware that it's illegal to make withdrawal from a kyc required gambling site whem you haven't completely kyc to that account.
1455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Importance of Gambling to the society on: August 28, 2023, 12:39:13 PM
What is the benefits of gambling to your society?
Gambling is mainly viewed in the negative lens of it by many people in our various societies no doubt gambling has a negative impact on people especially when they have  lost control of their gambling activities but on the other side of the divide gambling has been playing a key role behind the scene by the taxes they pay to government of the state they are located in and also providing employment to  citizens of that society whereby taking a number of unemployed out of the unemployment list in that society. With those taxes payed to government a positive influence can be felt on areas like security, and other sectors of the country economy depending on where the choose to channel such money to.

1458  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there still hope for the price of BTC to hit back $69k this year? on: August 27, 2023, 02:59:48 PM
I was waiting for the price of BTC to reach $40k in this month of August, before I will believe that $69k is possible before the end of this year 2023 which is the wish of many investors in the community.
You don't wish when talking of the price of bitcoin you just have to get your conclusion/speculations through after doing your technical or fundamental analysis, you don't base your investment on wishes. Even when analysis is done before giving speculations about the future price yet it doesn't work as speculated not to talk of a wish.
Quote

But the price started decreasing from $30k to $26k to create a great fear into the mind of those that is hoping for the price to increase above $30k before they can start thinking of how to visit the market to supply to make a good profits. With this slow move of the price of BTC in this season, I don't think the price will hit back to $69k before the end of this year because the green light is not stable like the way it was stable last two years to reach $69k for both long term investors and short term investors to experience huge amount of money from their investment. Do you believe that there is still hope for investors to experience $69k this year? Because we just have 3 months and some weeks before the end of this year. What is you hope for this current price?
Wether we like it or not, the all time high will not be possible by end of this year as we had earlier thought of from beginning. With the current bitcoin price at 26k$ right now we can't tell if it will go down below or go higher above 40k by the end of this year 2023, I can't say about hitting back the 69k$ ATH, but if you're a good holder continue holding the bull run we all expect is possible at most by 2025.
1459  Economy / Economics / Re: Blackrock invest in ukraine on: August 27, 2023, 01:42:21 PM
That's what US always wanted! If you think the Russia - Ukraine war is happening because of Putin, you are living in fool's paradise.

I agree, Zelensky should be nominated for an Oscar soon. Seriously though, things like this have been happening since First World Governments were formed. As normal, regular people we will never know what is really going on behind the scenes.
The problem of wars all over the different parts of the world instituted  from when the formation of world powers emerged and the means to keep their present state of affairs unhindered will only lead to war after another war which may or may not indirectly involved their flags but their interest will unveil their involvement anyway.

The victims of a truth are the regular people because they don't know what's going on behind the scene but are convinced by what the different state media choose to deliver to their mind. If I were to have a say I will choose to stay neutral about this nonsense called war for the sake of widespread peace because it is the taking of sides that still makes the war linger.
1460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will the bitcoiners realize bitcoin is just fiat with enforced tax on: August 27, 2023, 11:55:38 AM
When will the bitcoiners realize bitcoin is just fiat with more steps on a transparent ledger with enforced tax aka network fee.
Taxes with fees are different by definition.
It's probably only now that we're hearing bitcoins are just fiat with taxes imposed after you leave those opinions here.

Taxes are paid to the state by citizens who are domiciled in that country. There are taxes that are mandatory, personal, income tax like me living in Indonesia. Tax paid by citizens to because they have used state facilities.
Bitcoin in transactions and mining are not taxes, they are called fees.
OP lacks an understanding of the difference between tax and fees and that's why he can ignorantly come up with this type of information about bitcoin. He needs to go back to the drawing board and strategize more and more because this just propaganda didn't hit as he had expected but a failed mission to mislead newbies about bitcoin and fiat difference.
Apart from all other explanations established by members about why the fees are attached to bitcoin mining and transactions, we call all attest that factors like inflation , centrality and control by government that's known to fiat are not associated with bitcoin.
