1441  Economy / Economics / Re: I thought there was an egg shortage. on: June 25, 2023, 09:24:02 AM
Nope, they are just limiting the supply of eggs so that they can increase the price. There's a lot more tricks going on to the society to battle inflation and the poor are the most suffering from this. The government always to ignore this kind of issues as long as they are getting money from it. Sad thing is a that as the days goes by, everything is not getting any better, but it is the other way around.
Sometimes I don't blame some of these businesses for devising means to increase the price of their products. The cost of production of these good have increased rapidly. The price of fuel and electricity has increased so much that most of these industries are running at loss. The bottle and sachet water production industry of my country just decided to increase the price of their product. They can achieve it because they have unions that ensures that every producer abides by the price hike. Trade unions and associations are important means of cutting production and increasing price. And example is what OPEC+ usually do: cutting production which leads to price increase. They have made bottle water scarce now and we are forced to buy it. We are forced to buy it because we don't have other means of getting clean water.

But sometimes these trade unions become very powerful that regulators cannot control them anymore. Due to this influence they start exploiting the masses. It is the responsibility of the government to control the price of products based on the current inflation rate. Unnecessary increase in the price of product should be checked. Regarding egg, getting few layer fowls that produces eggs will not be a bad idea. But this will be possible if you have space in your house. Egg is a major protein source that is important to both children and adults, making it expensive can lead to malnutrition mainly in children because some poor homes might not afford it.

GiftedMAN,

I will do that. I would love to talk to someone who is established here (Private) to tell him/her my skills and even more, if needed. He/she will notice I am a serious person and maybe give me the right tips before I start offering my service and maybe making a shop with the danger that I am doing something what was normal in those days but is"not done" now. I might be a newbie here again, but online I am not at all. I´ve been quite active last years online. But in a complete other "niche" if that is the right word?

If you do a review of the responses of members you will understand that one question is outstanding. The question is what happened to your former account? It is clear that you don't want to answer the question and you are pushing the question aside. It is okay that you want to keep your details secret Do you think that sending message to an established member will answer the question. This is a community and for you to be a trusted member you should have integrity. This is because people will not be sure if they are dealing with a member that might have violated the rule of the forum. If your experience is relevant to members it will be good to have you here. Your seriousness will be determined by how well you contribute to the forum.
1443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin retirement plan with a disturbing length of years. on: June 25, 2023, 08:52:56 AM
16 years is not a disturbing number of years, it's a regular number if you're thinking long term investments. If one is not certain what it could look like in 16 years then you are equally not certain how the next day or week would affect the currency.

We sometimes refer to how cheap it was 10-12 years ago, but to have been able to benefit from the price increase you need to have held for a long period of time, close to the retirement plan of your friend.
Sixteen years is not too much if he can be able to afford it. If investing 20% of his salary wouldn't affect his expenses, then it not a bad decision.  If he has a family it shouldn't affect the provision of the basic needs and other key expense. It should also be fund that the individual can afford to lose. It is risky to keep it that long but the benefit is commensurate with the risk. Every business has risk, recently a new government in my state began to destroy buildings that was allocated by the former government. So real estate also has risks. When I checked how much people bought bitcoin few years ago, I always wished I bought the coin long time ago. So in order to avoid regret, keep as much as you can afford to hold.
1444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamble Responsibly on: June 25, 2023, 08:31:42 AM
My advice for upcoming gamblers reading this thread today, always makes sure you gamble like a responsible man. Remember where you came from and think about your children and family.
It you go to any gambling platform, they will always tell you to gamble responsibly and gambling is not for underaged. It will be irresponsible for a man that has a family to gamble without control. Gambling addiction is real and many people have been affected so we have to seek means of breaking free from this addictions. Gambling addiction make people think irrationally and they always regret their actions after losses. Most gamblers sometimes don't consider the consequences of the actions because they are under an uncontrollable influence.

Quote
Gambling must not be your path to success, you will get rekt very fast.
Relying on gambling as a source of income will also lead to financial failure. You cannot plan with your gambling wins because you cannot predict when you will win. Gambling should be seen as an entertainment and any time you win you can use it to carryout a project or solving a need.

Quote
Gamble for fun only, using small money that you aren't needing, and think about losing that money first, to make sure that you won't be needing the money if it's gone.
You don't use money budgeted for expense to gamble. If you lose, you family with suffer the consequences. You should always gamble with the amount you can afford to loose.

Quote
Take a break.

Taking a break is a good approach for those that are suffering from gambling addiction. This will assist such person to recover from gambling losses and also plan how to return to gambling healthy. If after the break you think you are better without gambling, it will be better to quit. Most people don't have the zeal to control their gambling activity so the best option will be to quit.

Quote
Don't chase your losses.
Chasing losses will lead to more loss, so the best option will be to have a limit and abide by it. You cannot always win the house, so when the casino wins, don't try to recover the loss because the house always wins.
1445  Other / Meta / Re: Offensive words on the forum on: June 25, 2023, 08:07:07 AM
Every person is right in his own opinion so do not use offensive words on others who make a post but rather convince them to understanding why their opinion is wrong
Some members of this forum do this alot
Like saying a person's post is nonsense or is of no use like this post made by a newbie
with SOKO- DEKE  saying it is nonsense  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454681.0
Please let us be more polite when making post or replying posts

What you should understand is that people post according to their understanding in the forum, so whenever someone post you should try reply them on the language they would be able understand or to the standard of their post. To whatever they post seems to be right in their eyes but we should know that we have series of people here with their ways of knowledge and their acts of reasoning, when reading post your should be open and think widely because what you may comprehend and drives from the post may not be as others at end it results as someone posting irrelevant things or a nonsense post.

People have the right to express themselves based on their views and perception. We should have the heart to accept other people's views even when it is not inline with our own thoughts. I have also observed that words has different meaning in diverse societies. A word that you might see as an insult in your area might mean something else somewhere. So we should learn to tolerate each other. But there are some words that might be offensive. Truth be told  there are some posts that are actually nonsense. It was not useless because of grammatical errors but it was written totally out of context. But we should correct in love, so that people will not be offended. I read the post OP referred to and it was not a useless post.
1446  Economy / Economics / Re: Always Have a financial record in whatever business you own on: June 25, 2023, 07:35:38 AM
It seems a bit weird that you had to educate this person on financial records, when it is pretty much demanded by the tax authorities in every country to have proper accounting. Otherwise you end up in a grey area which can easily be misconstrued as you trying to avoid taxes or even worse - money laundering offenses. If this person had been around for at least a couple years they should have been paying taxes and to do that, you need to know your incomings and outgoings. With that in mind, some people pay accountants to deal with the nitty gritty details, especially if they're in fields where they make a lot of money or once the company starts to expand but it is necessary to know these basics things to determine if you're making any sort of profit.
In some countries there are no proper taxation systems. Most citizens of developing nations don't pay tax. Even if they pay it is not properly calculated and corrupt tax officials also use tax collection as opportunities to steal. Like in my country only civil servants and registered businesses are require to file tax statement. So most businesses don't keep records and these businesses don't know their financial standings.

some people just earn the money and do not keep the record this damages their business and doesnt know how to deal with finances
Illiteracy is another reason why people don't keep records. Some people don't know how to read and write, so it affects their ability to keep records. But one of the solution is to employ a financial records personnel. But small businesses might not be financially strong enough to employ workers. But every business owner should be a prudent spender. You should be able to know your income so that it will determine your expenses.
1447  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: P2P Scams : Where does the government stand on: June 25, 2023, 12:56:59 AM
For this purpose, Binance insists that all P2P communication should happen on the Binance chat window and not take that conversation out of the Binance to any third party platform. If the buyer or the seller asks to have a phone call where he tells another account[ s] to transfer the money, Binance can have no control or proof on this and in case of dispute/scam, Binance may not be able to help the victim.
The Binance chat window can be easily monitored by the exchange. And in terms of fraud or dispute, there will be shreds of evidence to back up claims. There are many advertisements on social media on crypto exchange and using them is risky. It is better to use well-established firms because they possess the necessary operational mechanism to tackle fraud to a large extent.

Quote
Yes, the government won't be able to help either because of the no legalization of cryptocurrencies, but we have to take as many precautions ourselves to prevent any sort of fraud or scam with us through P2P platforms.
Engaging in crypto transactions in a country where the currency is banned is risky. Reporting to law enforcement agencies is like reporting to the government that you committed a crime. It will be better to take necessary safety measures.
1448  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Casinos Go Bankrupt Because of Player Wins? on: June 25, 2023, 12:33:07 AM
The casino is a company, and to build a company should have management and figuring assets by professionals. That is bad management if the Company goes bankrupt after a player won a big cash, what employer did? and is the operator sleeping?, Damn, I never hear that a new company/casino goes to bankrupt after a player won, I often hear about a new casino with bad management stealing customer money. So if you want to build a casino, you should have prepared 2 points; big capital and good human Resources management.
Every organization needs to have a risk management team. This risk manager should be in a position to inform the casino of the limit of the risk they can handle. A good risk management team would always advise the casino on how to avoid taking risks that will affect the business negatively. Any casino that risks more than its capacity to carry or bear will definitely have bankruptcy issues. If they don't have the finance to employ a risk management team there are corporate bodies that offer such services, so they can employ these firms to carry out periodic risk management evaluations.

Yes, the gambling platforms have more other businesses connected to them. In one day way or the other the platforms generate revenue which makes settlement easier and never get into bankruptcy. Some small casinos may suffer the problem of going down in business due to settlement of big wins. Most of the online casinos used to start little by little and progress good in the business. Such large win settlement will surely cause some drag down in the progress towards the next level of growth and business generated.
I am not a fan of relying on other sources of revenue to finance a casino. The casino should have a separate capital base different from other businesses own by the owners or the management. To make the management of the casino easy and less complex the business should have it's independent funding. What will happen when the business connected to the casino experience losses? I have never had any bad experiences due to casino bankruptcy. It might be because I prefer using reputable betting companies.
1449  Other / Meta / Re: fillippone merited thread need more support of merit source. on: June 24, 2023, 11:53:19 PM
Everyone has their way of sharing their merits. All merit sources are doing it in the way that best defines them.

The fillippone thread is really lacking in numbers, but the user is trying his/her best to review all posts accordingly; it's a gradual process, and I believe everyone in that thread will be attended to. I have benefited from the thread once.

Such a thread is just a helping hand to the community; it's not actually compulsory, and users should not put all their hopes there as a means of ranking up. No one is in a hurry to share those merits; let them merit-source people to breathe.🚶🚶🚶
I also want fillippone's thread to attract more merit sources because it is indeed helping members to get worthy merits. This is because he reviews the post before awarding merits. There are some boards in the forum that I observed don't get much attention from merit sources and some users might have almost all their posts on such sections. The thread will serve as an avenue to review those posts to check if they are merit worthy. But from what I have gathered merit sources are given the freedom to set standards for their merit distribution. And they can choose any board or style they deem fit.

Members of the forum should learn to be versatile in posting. We shouldn't concentrate on a particular section of the forum only. We should learn from other sections so that there will always be better opportunities for merit sources to read our posts. I will like to see more of such merit-giving threads or support from other merit sources but they should be given the freedom to do this voluntary task.
1450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting Some Merit really boosted my motivation on: June 24, 2023, 11:20:35 PM
This may seem trivial to those who already rank high in the forums. but it really means a lot to beginners. Gaining Some Merits actually can revive dormant Motivation. But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.
Getting merit is like receiving appreciation from someone or even the community that your post helped someone or is educating. When you get such appreciation it serves as a motivation to put in your best and do even better. I remember the fulfillment I had when I got my first set of merits in the forum. It gave me confidence that my input is appreciated. But this mindset can also be deceptive because it is not every time you might get merit from doing a good job. Expecting merit always is not bad but it could be discouraging when you don't get it when you expected it. There are some posts I thought will fetch some merits but it turned out the opposite and I was a little bit discouraged.

To me, the best approach is to keep doing your best in the forum. Keep reading, learning, and sharing quality thoughts. Let learning and not merit be your driving force and motivator, if merit comes that's okay but merit shouldn't be the main focus for contributing to the forum.  But, naturally, merit will always come when you are valuable to the community.
1451  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it painless to control a multitude??? on: June 24, 2023, 11:01:07 PM

I will use the government sector as an example whenever I see a leader I do believe that it is not comfortable for him all the time, you may  always see him smile in public but the hardships he is encountering can be destructive, taking about our leaders in the country most of the moments thing may go hard on them but they still take uptheire responsibility as a superintendent of thatcountryy to protect and provide for them, let me use my self as an illustration when I was younger I thought that when someone is been chosen as a head
thatmeansn he is wealthy and riches and powerful and will live a life of no suffering in his generation  but it was more than that, one can have this material thing but still not have it all, most of the time this word is a called corruption
Closing our eyes for us to see this little thing.
Your illustration about leadership only happens in an ideal situation. Leadership is a call to service and not to oppress or enrich. A good leader will always sacrifice for his followers to have a good life. When a leader is appointed he is supposed to be sober because of the enormous responsibility placed on him as the leader. But I am sorry because selfless leaders have become scarce globally.

Currently, most leaders don't care about the masses because their target is to loot the treasury of the country. The struggle for political power currently is not based on the willingness to serve but on a preplanned plot to enrich themselves and impoverish the masses. In some advanced nations, the level of stealing in government is not as widespread as what happens in developing nations.

It is also true that money alone will not bring joy or fulfillment but everybody needs money to survive in this current society. We need money to take care of our basic needs. These corrupt leaders might not have all that makes them happy but they have also stolen resources that would have made people comfortable.
1452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Predictions of Bitcoin Halving accurate? on: June 24, 2023, 10:39:03 PM
You compare every website that has a countdown for the halving, not all of them are the same and that's why they're just putting some assumption that the time they set are gonna be the one where the block will be mined for that halving. I don't think that there's a need for it to be accurate with that unless you do really think that there's something important a person need to be accurate with that. Don't stress a lot with the accuracy because no matter what the countdown is and if they differ from each other, it will come.
There seems to be consensus that bitcoin halving will be experienced next year but the exact time of 2024 has been debated. Different crypto websites and analysts have their specific predictions. From my findings in different predicting websites, I think it will be difficult to know the exact minute, hour, or even day. But a summary of some of the websites visited puts the having date between February to June 2024. I am not also too concerned about the precise date because I am willing to wait till anything occurs next year. The actual halving time may be more important to Bitcoin traders.
1453  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Rural vs Urban Awareness? on: June 24, 2023, 07:58:29 AM
As regards the wide spread of Bitcoin in our today society which should be of utmost priority? more awareness in urban cities or Exposure in rural communities? This might not be applicable to all nations but there are many rural communities cut across many nations around the world who don't still don't understand what Bitcoin is all about, what it values are and what it represent in our modern financial society.
Bitcoin education and awareness are important if we want to promote Bitcoin and increase adoption. But the urban area should be given more priority because they have the necessary facilities and income to invest in or use Bitcoin. Many people in the urban area have Android phones, internet connection, education, and saving. Although neglecting the rural area is not the best option because there might be people that are interested in the sector but in most cases, they don't have the basic facilities and finance needed to be involved in the sector.

Quote
Specifically in Cameroon, Nigeria and Ghana where I have stayed in at different time, I discovered many rural areas in this countries still find it difficult differentiating Bitcoin from Ponzi schemes. In this case will sensitising people in this areas be a vain adventure following their  mindset.
People in the rural areas in Western Africa can be easily deceived because there are many illiterates and poor inhabitants. They can be easily convinced to believe in a scam project and because of poverty most of them are attracted by many scam scheme that promises huge profit. Many of them have been scammed so when you come up with a legitimate investment, they conclude that it is also a scam.

Quote
And how fast will adaptation and acceptance take place. And are there any technique one can apply to impact this persons on the advantage of embracing Bitcoin without sounding like a scammer or a deceitful person. I don't know if any one has had similar encounter In time past.
Adopting or embracing Bitcoin is not by force. You cannot force them to accept Bitcoin because they are not your puppets. The only way is to tell them the whole truth about Bitcoin and let them decide what to do with the information.  Most of these scam schemes show them videos or pictures of people that have made money from the project. But you don't need to show off your profit to attract them because they might not be as fortunate as you and Bitcoin is not a magic money scheme.
1454  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Texas: Lawsuit Between a Bitcoin ATM Operator and a Local Sheriff on: June 24, 2023, 07:19:09 AM
https://cryptopotato.com/crypto-scam-in-texas-led-to-lawsuit-between-a-bitcoin-atm-operator-and-a-local-sheriff-report/

"Sheriff McNamara supposedly remained unfazed by the legal battle started by Bitcoin Depot, saying the company “can go to hell.”

Lux Vending – doing business as Bitcoin Depot – has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the sheriff’s office of McLennan County, Texas, accusing it of unlawfully seizing $15,000 from a BTC automated teller machine (ATM).

The authorities confiscated the amount to compensate an elderly victim who had become a victim of a cryptocurrency scam."

____
This trial will have an interesting precedent. The only winners are the scammers who received $15,000 worth of bitcoins.
According to the news from the website the woman's fund was still in the wallet and it was retrieved and returned to her which means nobody was scammed. It was not compensation but the woman got her money back and no party lost any money. There was no reason to file a suit because no party experienced any harm or loss. But I think the Bitcoin Depot filled the case to avoid a repetition of such an act or to set a precedent. They are arguing that the sheriff has the right to confiscate the funds but they lack the power to return it to the woman. Such an act by the Sheriff could harm the business in some other situations. I don't know what the law says about this situation in the US. But in my country, the lawful process will be to freeze the funds and get a court order to release the funds. This will help in avoiding further litigations.
1455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 24, 2023, 02:20:58 AM

The first is Ruben Neves, who signed a contract with Al-Hilal for a transfer fee of 55 million euros from Wolves. The duration of his contract will also last until June 2026. Surely this will be one of the pros and cons of the transfer because at the ripe age of 26 he has decided to play for the Saudi league team, even though there were rumors that Barcelona were interested in signing him, but it came back again. it seems Ruben Neves is more concerned with money than his career in Europe.

This is one of the best signings done by a Saudi Club. Ruben Neves had so many prosperous career options in Europe but he chose to move to the developing Saudi League. The player is young and has the strength to add the needed vigor and entertainment. He will never tell the public that money was the reason for the move. This move is an indication that the Saudi professional league is growing to become a force in the world. His move might also motivate more players to take the same path.

Quote
The second is Justin Kluivert, as we all know he is an AS Roma player and Bournemouth have just managed to get his services to strengthen the team in the EPL next season. I think this is a career decline at a fairly young age, even though previously he had also defended quite strong teams in Europe such as Ajax, Leipzig, Valencia and Roma before finally now with the weak Bournemouth team. I hope he can come back to a better team when his contract ends.

I expect this move to England will resurrect the career of Justin Kluivert. Being the son of one of the best strikers in Europe Patrick Kluivert, much is expected from him. He moved to Roma but couldn't make much impact so he was loaned to Leipzig and Nice. Andoni Iraola the coach of the newly promoted Bournemouth believes that the young Dutch striker will add quality to the attack because he is experienced and has pace. His father's time playing for Newcastle United was not impactful because of his age but hopefully, the younger Kluivert will do more.
1456  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's get rid of all regulations, what can possibly go wrong on: June 24, 2023, 01:10:34 AM
In the case of OceanGate, aside from deliberately ignoring safety precautions and regulations, the CEO also ignored the advice of the experts in the field and also skimped on routine maintenance. There are tons of things that contributed to the said disaster, and most of it started from him just winging it and believing in what he thinks is 'best' for them at that moment.

Also, he surrounded himself with yes men that contributed to this tragedy. There are so many things that could go wrong if there aren't any standards or regulations set into place by governing bodies. So even if we admit it or not, governments and their laws and regulations are still needed in order to keep chaos at bay.
Regulators will always come up with different allegations and arguments after a tragic incident. It is when people have lost their lives that these government agencies will tell the world how the firm or company broke regulatory rules. But they were around and were watching these firms engage in risky adventures without stopping them. These agencies will not deny that they are aware that OceanGate was risking the lives of people and making a profit from it. Government agencies are reactive and not proactive. These deaths would have been avoided if regulators had sealed the company and ensured they abide by the rules.

Our system is run by highly connected corrupt and greedy folks that act above the law because of their links to the seat of power. The loss of life is irreplaceable, but it becomes painful to the bereaved if it happened because of avoidable mistakes.

Hello all,

Coming back here is nostalgy.
I was active here 2016-2020.

Wow, how things changed. I need to find my way here to fit in again.
Welcome back! The reason for abandoning your former account is important. This is to ensure that you are not breaking the rules of the forum. But I guess you are aware of these rules because you have already spent four years in the forum. It will be good if you go through the forum and get more knowledge about new developments in the forum. There is also a need to read about the Bitcoin space and some recent development. I am sure some of your former mates or friends in the forum are still around and you will also find some new friends. There are also some new rules like the forum don't accept the use of artificial Intelligence to write post. The use of bots for post writing is highly prohibited just like plagiarism. I guess you know other rules even more than me. Not to worry in a few days you will be familiar with the forum again.
1458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New question for experts on: June 23, 2023, 11:35:29 PM
Hello everyone, I have a new question,
In your opinion, is it worth attending blockchain events?
Attending an event depends on your career path or interest in that field. How useful the event will be depends on your intention for attending. If you want to start a career in the blockchain sector, then it is worth attending. Attending blockchain seminars might be also beneficial to people from different fields so it might not be a waste because your career can be integrated into the blockchain system.

But it is also important to consider the content of the event and how proficient the organizers are. Most of these events are just organized solely for profit-making without any genuine intention of imparting knowledge. I have also witnessed these seminars where the organizers will introduce an investment scheme or a worthless altcoin for participants to join or buy. But if you are sure of the organizer it will be good to attend. You have to also consider the cost of the event, if you can afford it or not. There are diverse quality videos and materials you could have access to that can give you standard lectures on the blockchain.
1459  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How is Cryptocurrency Taxed? Here’s a Detailed Guide on: June 21, 2023, 04:11:32 PM
In my country, there is no cryptocurrency tax. You will be prone to tax if you use centralized exchanges. These exchange companies collect tax indirectly for the government. Banks are restricted from dealing with cryptocurrencies so we don't have anything like bitcoin ATMs. But you can cheaply avoid this tax by using P2P or decentralized exchanges. So the restriction placed on banks and the lukewarm attitude of the government of my country is a blessing in disguise for me.  Mining cryptocurrencies are not banned in my country but we have no mining farm because of a lack of power supply and basic infrastructure.
1460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 21, 2023, 02:37:21 PM
I don’t understand the Havertz signing, he hasn’t been great for Chelsea so not sure why Arsenal think he’s worth signing. Arsenal need a proper goalscorer, Havertz won’t give them lots of goals. He is not going to be the man to take them to the next level. As a Liverpool fan I am not concerned, then again we have our own problems.
No player should be underestimated based solely on their current form; players have best peaks and also lose form over time. Arsenal makes a bid for the German who is currently out of favour in the Chelsea squad; he will need more game time when he arrives to the Emirates Stadium, after all, he possesses a trophy that no other Arsenal player have, the Champions League. Kai Havertz may not be the man the Gunners believe he is, but one thing I can confidently state is that he is a great striker for the Blues, and he delivered when the team needed him most, as demonstrated in the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City. Havertz is most likely not in fantastic form this season, with his peak now a terrible disaster.
Kai Havertz has not been at his best in Chelsea. He got the winning goal in the Champions League finals against Manchester City but he has failed to replicate the same quality when Chelsea needs him most. But he is a young player that still has the potential to improve. The twenty for years old German can be a good asset in Arsenal if he is given the right assistance and condition. He is not a strong player that can muscle defenders to get goals but his speed is his strength. Every coach knows the reason for going for any player. Maybe Mikel Arteta has identified Kai as one of the strikers that will suit his strategies next season. I also don't think that Chelsea will let him leave just like that because the attacking combination of Christopher Nkunku and Kai might be a formidable force.
