How can you guys be so optimistic when alternatives that remove or strongly reduce the cost of energy to maintain the security of the network are around the corner?

Are you talking about ASIC mining, which basically increases security by an order of magnitude for any given level of energy consumed? Smiley

I suspect the reference is to the latest bitcoin-killing solid coin...

I'm talking about wroking proof-of-stake alternatives.

Pirate drama has already ended, he got your money, he ran with it.
The only thing that's happening now is people with false hopes and depressions making posts about it, oh and some more trolling at pirates end.

1451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The original Bitcoin client sucks. on: August 19, 2012, 04:49:03 PM
I think some kind of 'warning' or note that the original client is still very 'technical'? could be an idea to point the average user to web-wallets, light-weight clients or mobile clients.

Smiley

The Bernie Madoffs of Bitcoin? As virtual trading heats up, promises of profits skyrocket

"I think any 'investment' that promises low-risk high-interest returns is almost certainly a scam. My general advice would be to avoid investing in anything that you don't understand," Mr. Andresen told The Verge in an email. "That includes Bitcoin!

Since when is bitcoin low-risk high-profit?

But what's this all about?

The Bitcoin Project will be making a major announcement in September that should contribute some stability, he said. Still, he predicted things will continue to be exciting in the world of Bitcoin with "continued controversy and chaos."

Sometimes i just write random shit too.
Nothing that the 'project' can do can offer stability, that would mean it's not really a free market then i guess.
1456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MintChip Challenge, public voting. on: August 15, 2012, 03:44:54 PM

I see we get to vote on apps, nothing with bitcoin.

Is this just an advertisement for some other commercial payment processor or what?
1458  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2012-08-15 computerworld.com.au - Money laundering using virtual worlds, Bitcoin on: August 15, 2012, 09:38:14 AM
What a demotivating read, getting kinda tired of all these videos and articles popping up, just stating that bitcoin is 'the digital currency created by hackers for criminal activities'...
Is this the beginning of the third part of the  "first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win" scenario?
1459  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please test (if you dare): next and next-test 2012-08-13 on: August 13, 2012, 06:16:56 PM
p2pool tells me the version of bitcoin is too old, need at least 0.5 xD (next-test)
You need a newer version of p2pool with BIP22 support. I don't know if forrestv has released one yet.

Coin control is abandoned?  Just for the next version or for good?
Depends on when/if someone steps up to take care of it.

Thanks i'll just use a different pc to mess around with your version for now since i have the latest p2pool software.

As for coin control, i surely hope this will be picked up in the main client, it's an important feature imho, i use it on a regular basis.
