1441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mr Beasts house robbed of everything except for bitcoin on: May 24, 2023, 12:56:15 AM
Some of you may have seen this clip before, and I’m assuming a good amount of you know who Mr Beast is (if not he’s a highly followed social media “influencer” I guess you could say, but an actually cool guy who gives back a lot to people.

Here he talks about how his house was robbed, but the idiot robber just passed by his Pc which had a piece of paper sitting next to it that said “public and private keys” right on it lol. He laughs at what morons they were. Reminds me of the time my car was robbed of about $10 in change but they left my $600 radar detector and $2000 dvd player just sitting there lol.

Lesson here, not all robbers are there stupid, hide your keys!

https://youtube.com/shorts/rtDFx-U2IJU?feature=share

Mr. Beast is a very generous guy, but also, maybe this was just a stunt. Are we be completely sure that this wasn't staged just to draw attention? If there is a police record that would suffice as being legitimate. But maybe he is too rich to even care, one thing is for sure that Mr. Beast would definitely not leave his Bitcoin PKs out on the table in broad daylight next to his computer. Maybe there is some hidden symbolism in his videos? It might help if I actually watch it lmao. Good post m8!

Nah I think you're thinking too much in to this one.  As some have pointed out, this video is a couple years old ( at least I believe it is).  I mean I did some stupid shit in my early days of bitcoin.  I also recently heard Mr Beast I think on Joe Rogans podcast say that the only reason he moved in to a much larger /nicer home was the fact that he needed much better security.  He's just not a flashy guy, and if I remember correctly he said he still drives a very average car.  The guy doesn't need to pull stunts anymore, he's I believe the most popular YouTuber period and has been for some time.

1443  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: May 22, 2023, 10:36:04 PM
I am going to forever regret not placing a shit ton of bitcoin on last nights Miami Heat versus Miami Celtics game.  It was one of those times where you looked at the spread and thought "what the hell are the odds makers thinking".  I mean Miami dominated games one and two, and were being give 5.5 points AT HOME..I mean cmon.

Now though, that both series are 3-0, I'm just not real sure how to bet these next two games (tonight and tomorrow).  It's going to be difficult for either team to make a clean 4-0 sweep, so I think I'm putting my money on LA and Boston these next two games.
1444  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: increased Youtube Gambling ads? on: May 22, 2023, 10:33:01 PM
I've been getting increased gambling ad's not only on YouTube, but across the board (television/radio/social media etc).  The main reason for this however is the fact that gambling has been legalized in my state (State of Illinois here in the United States) so they are just now legally being able to produce ads like this.  It's honestly kind of crazy to see this, but I of course and am in full support of it!

Lets just hope YouTube pays a little attention to this, as they already allow for scammers to place ads, which is FUCKING insane that a company of that size and magnitude doesn't have a better checks and balance system, or even cares..so I can only image the type of gambling ads they might allow.
1445  Economy / Collectibles / WTB-Which Wich Crypto Box on: May 22, 2023, 10:24:21 PM
I somehow randomly came across this article that discusses how the US based sandwich shop Which Wich ran a promotion selling these crypto boxes with coin tied to actual bitcoin value that could be used in stores to purchase food. As many of you know already and I know many of us here own some of these physical coins they made, but did anyone come across these crypto boxes or have one for sale?

1447  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 22, 2023, 10:13:45 PM
Miami Heat is leading by three nill right now. It really does not feel like Celtics will actually be able to recover.
Heat just proven that ESPN's analytics is just another analytics but not the actuality of what can happen into the game and match ups.

Celtics has already gone even before this game started. It's like more of formality that they'll be seen on the game 4 and they should have just conceded to allow the win to Heat but I don't know if this is allowed as per NBA ruling.

I will also say that Miami Heat and Nuggets are going to be the finalists.
You're not the only one that sees that, most of us have it in our minds that these two will be the ones playing the NBA finals.

No ypu can't just concede a game and in the world we live in if it was even remotely determined they threw the game it would cause an earthquake in sports.  Being down 0-3 is not optimal but why wouldn't you think they wouldn't try.  I means it's for the right to go to the finals.  I'm throwing money on the Celtics it's tough to get a straight sweep in the playoffs.

Sure you can, I see teams just saying "nah you guys got it" in conference championship series all the time Smiley

Really sucks that I got caught up in what I was watching on TV as well as paying attention to my fantasy baseball leagues and a really tight match yesterday (which of course I tied and didn't end up winning) and totally forgot to bet the Heat at +5.5, which was just a no brainer bet too.  Damnt!
1448  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Gorilla Pro Customs “Bricks”- Giant Coin Safes on: May 21, 2023, 05:03:48 PM
Could not find it on their site
Same, I checked some of their bricks, but the Bitcoin-themed one didn't pop up so far.

Their pricing seems through the roof. But maybe it's just because we are used to industrialized products, looks like they do a lot of manual finishing on their products.
Still... paying $1k to store away 10k appears kind of strange to me.

Anyhow, cool massive Bitcoin brick in their video for sure.

Agreed... you could spend that $1k that on a real safe...  and to add that seems like a display piece and would probably be the first thing taken if you were robbed thus negating it being a "safe" Tongue
https://www.safeandvaultstore.com/collections/under-1000/500-1000

Oh I hear ya, but they are pretty damn cool. Out of my price range, but would love to have one. Certainly not a great “safe” as you said, it’s quite clearly something someone would steal first. Shit I bet a good majority of robbers would think it’s actual bitcoin lol.

Of all the designs to use, why would they use that one? I know it was originally designed by MJB, but it has been completely ruined. Just the amount of shitty AliExpress "coins" I've seen with that specific design makes it instantly undesirable.

I hear ya. But I think for most people that aren’t physical crypto collectors, and know what we know and all that, it’s not as big a deal. Also, whether we like it or not, this is by far the #1 most used / recognizable bitcoin coin design. So it’s something most people are familiar with.

1450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 21, 2023, 02:02:42 AM
I wanted to put something on this game, and as I sat to think about to bet it, the more I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to lol. I think it was one of those situations where I was just desperate to bet but made a dumb decision, and put my btc on the Lakers simply because I want them to win. They are playing like shit and this series really has gone to show how Lebron just isn’t close to the guy he once was (still a star of course).

Anyways, thankfully I made a cheap bet.

1451  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Gorilla Pro Customs “Bricks”- Giant Coin Safes on: May 21, 2023, 01:53:47 AM
It would be pretty sweet if those were made out of silver. That would be an epic piece. Would make my 10oz silver coins look tiny in comparison. I wonder if they would be willing to do a custom silver version. Might have to reach out and get a price for shits and giggles. A gigantic silver minted seat replica would make me happy but I wouldn’t know how to keep this thing from tarnishing. Probably why they don’t use silver.

I imagine a fine silver version would be incredibly expensive. I don’t have any, but I’ve certainly used legit silver silverware before, know what they make it out of and how it typically doesn’t tarnish too badly? Probably not pure silver I’m assuming. Or perhaps it can be coated in something?

Damn.. I really want one of these coins now... I like how the design is mjb monetary metals etc... I wish it had the price Huh

Was this the same silver 1oz coin pictured above I wonder? Too tired atm lol... Tongue

Oh nice find, it’s different than these two in the video. I honestly haven’t spent much time on their site, but this is a cool piece as well. I’d love to have any of these 3 pieces.

I somehow came across these guys and their products a few weeks ago. I think it was on either instagram or YouTube and the algorithm had it pop up for me. What I had noticed was they used a lot of those basic 1oz fine silver bitcoin coins, so that caught my eye. Then this post popped up on my timeline yesterday.

I agree with you guys, very cool but pricey, not sure I can justify it. Would love to have one though.
1453  Economy / Speculation / Re: Know your time to HOLD on: May 20, 2023, 05:35:30 AM
You sounds like you don’t have a sound plan for investing. Something about that’s been repeated time and time again on this forum is the best way to “invest” the in bitcoin (and many other “assets”) is simply by utilizing the DCA/ dollar cost averaging method. By not doing so you’re trying to time the market and that’s basically impossible, without getting most lucky.
1454  Economy / Economics / Re: How do banks generate income? on: May 20, 2023, 05:32:52 AM
As a long time financial advisor, and someone who’s worked closely with banks throughout my career, the main reason I “got in to” bitcoin back in 2014ish was my utter disdain for banks and how they were ran. So much corruption and bullshit, and I was fascinated and blown away with the technology that bitcoin brought to the table for the first time.

You forgot to mention they make money, A LOT OF MONEY, by scamming the shit out of their customers.
1455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: May 20, 2023, 05:23:30 AM
I think Trump will end up being the candidate, but I'm not sure who will win the presidential vote.

From what I've seen, Trump is the frontrunner in the polls, and rumour has it that DeSantis could end up as his VP, so if Trump wins, DeSantis could run for president, and if he wins, serve up to two more terms.

Specifically about the next election, if it's between Trump and Biden, I think Trump could cause a lot of votes against him that another GOP candidate wouldn't cause, so I think it's going to be pretty close.

There’s no chance that DeSantis becomes Trumps VP. I do have no doubt that if Trump beats him out to secure the Republican nomination, that Ron will get down on his hands and knees for Trump (especially if he wins the presidential election) and blow him just like all of that party has and did, even after doing shit like calling their wives ugly. Smh.

Biden and Trump are absolutely pathetic options. Ronny isn’t much better either.
1456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: May 20, 2023, 05:18:49 AM
I guess I’m embarrassed to admit that I have been saying emphatically that I didn’t think the Miami Heat had a chance against the Boston Celtics. Being a Jimmy Butler fan (former Chicago Bull and all), I’m glad to see them playing this well.

Will be interesting to see if they end up being able to keep this up. Just wish the Lakers were in a better position to meet them in the finals. Didn’t put any money on this game but will the next.

I don’t really know how to describe these things, but they call them bricks, and they are sort of a way to store & hide coins and paper notes. Check these two massive bitcoin coins out..

Here is the instagram link, will check and see if there’s one up on YouTube here in a bit - https://www.instagram.com/reel/CscZNt_sbNv/?igshid=NzJjY2FjNWJiZg==

1458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin retirement benefits on: May 19, 2023, 02:56:02 AM
Bitcoin is the best choice as a retirement fund

No, it isn't.

I've written about this topic in detail, you can see an old topic thread that I made titled "Bitcoin is NOT a replacement for the stock market/ traditional investments" - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5288768.msg55577767#msg55577767

Bitcoin is inherently a currency, a digital currency.  Just as the US dollar and all fiats are currently traded and used as investment assets, so has bitcoin..but, that's not what it is by definition.  Therefore it is very different than stocks or bonds or money markets or whatever.

It's important to have a foundational retirement portfolio in place before you spend much on bitcoin as an investment.
1459  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bear And Bull Market? on: May 19, 2023, 02:51:04 AM
Dude what in the fuck are half of you even talking about? Honestly, you guys who comment shit and have absolutely no idea what you're saying, you really should be embarrassed.  Do yourselves a favor and take a few minute and use this cool tool called google that can actually explain what a bear and bull market are.

OP in simple terms, not by an definition, a Bear market is when the stock market is going up, and more people are buying equities than selling, and a bear market is the opposite.  It's a term that's been adopted to other types of markets, such as cryptocurrencies.
1460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there play and pay later casinos? on: May 19, 2023, 02:41:19 AM
The only way I've ever seen people being able to borrow money to gamble, is a casino loaning out money to a famous/rich person whom they know for an absolute fact is able to pay them back, or that they have assets for collateral.  Even then, this is probably typically some behind the scene's type stuff and I don't that it get "published" all that often.

I'm not an expert on this matter, but I'm pretty sure if he owes that much in gambling debt he probably is using an illegal gambling outfit or bookie.
