14481  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITTREX account HACKED - having 2FA ON on: October 11, 2018, 07:36:09 PM
Assuming all statements are correct, then the most plausible explanation is that device information and IP information remained the same, therefore not triggering 2fa, although I use Bittrex and every login, even from the same IP and device, will send an automated email regardless. If person who accessed also had email access, could have deleter, but highly unlikely to have both email and exchange account.

Cloning mobile phones seems to be on the rise, ever leave your phone for repair OP?
14482  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-11]Crypto Prophecy: the Economist's Date Arrives as Bitcoin Prices Stag on: October 11, 2018, 06:21:44 PM
Ah, for something a little different. We just don't get headlines like that any more, not from the Economist anyway (who'd been getting progressively farther away from that viewpoint if I ignore that I haven't been reading it for... about ten years!). Not that Bitcoin isn't a good candidate for precisely that sort of currency. Prices aren't yet quoted in BTC but it's certainly readily used by all the citizens of major economies - as much as from broken ones.

Here's another article almost ten years on from that 1988 one that was written as Asia was caught in the throes of its worst financial crisis to date - one I lived through myself: https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/1998/09/24/one-world-one-money

It would take another decade and another financial crisis to help trigger a concerted effort for a global alternative.
14483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +230.64 units | 40 bets on: October 11, 2018, 01:56:11 PM
Turns out I was right (against my betting) for the Kenya/Ethiopia scoreless draw. The East African teams of late haven't been able to score properly, even if the high altitudes didn't bother them before.

Right, then we move on to the friendly-not-friendly UEFA Nations League. I wasn't impressed at all by the openers, but I wonder if we'll get more joy from the outsiders so we'll pick on them to push for full results in tonight's parlay. We'll do a tough pick for Azerbaijan to pip Faroe Islands. The Central Asians (yes I still consider them Asian!) are actually a decent footballing people, if only they'd invest more into their national team, but they should at least score against Faroe Islands, who themselves aren't likely to score.

Game 1. Faroe Islands vs Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan WIN @2.63. Bitcoinrush: 2.66. Nitro: 2.645

Game 2. Kosovo vs Malta. Kosovo WIN @1.26. BCR:1.23. Nitro: 1.241

Game 3. Lithuania vs Romania. Romania WIN @1.69. BCR:1.68. Nitro: 1.67

Even margins as it turns out for BetKing and BCR today, so we use Nitro as comparison.

Parlay for 100 units (1 unit = 1,000 satoshi) BCR @5.6. Nitro Parlay 5.482
Odds advantage: 2.15%
Units advantage: 11.8 units

Running units advantage after 40 bets: +230.64 (+11.Cool

Running units after 39 bets (14W|25L): +1,199.01 (-100 units)
14484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $5000 to $80000 in 12 months with 3% compounding strategy on: October 11, 2018, 11:15:01 AM
Compounding interest can be a beautiful thing. How often do you project interest to compound to hit $80k? Have you tried something like this, before? What were your results?

One point to consider is interest will never truly compound due to betting limits. At a certain point 3% of your bankroll will become greater than maximum bet limits offered by bookies. Offhand people will probably think that $5,000 to $80,000 on 3% compounding interest is unworkable under real world conditions and they would be correct to think so due to limitations inherent in bet limits, etc.

Note, bankroll was only $600 or so, I will consider the experiment a huge, huge success if I could double that in a year.

I would be curious to know your current ROI % (return on investment).

In the past, the highest I achieved gambling on sports was 16 times my initial bankroll. I got overconfident, lost discipline and went *all in* on what turned out to be a losing call. Earnings and profiteering potential are so great it can be intoxicating. There could be a correlation between big wins and big losses. lol

It's only my first time properly recording performance, using a structured betting approach. In the past, I have made many more times bankroll on tournaments but with risky all in bets using enhanced odds, but probably breaking even when pitted against the losses on regular betting throughout football season.

In the thread I link above, I don't specify so i will edit OP but I only bet 1% of bankroll on every new wager, once a day on average, expressed in units. This 1% will only be adjusted once bankroll is at a certain profit level. Currently, after almost 40 consecutive days, the bankroll is over 10% in profit. Compounding at the same performance level should take me to doubling bankroll in under a year.

Conversely, if I don't do well, I would lose half that in the same time, if my performance deteriorates by about 40%. I didn't make the exact calculations but that wasn't the entire point of my tracking... The point was to illustrate long term gains from choosing a bookie with lower margins.
14485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Volumes Surge Nearly 30% as it Price Breaks Out of $6,550 on: October 11, 2018, 07:26:54 AM
That piece of "good news" was from the people working for the whale-cummulators. They wanted to give all of you hope, but only to disappoint you by crashing the price again two days after. Hahaha.

They just looove tempting fate and the dip hunters, don't they? Same silliness in whale groups to be honest, though whichever way the market swings, they'll push it to your face that they called it and were prepared. Seeing today in several channels posting about their successful shorts now in profit, when just 2 days ago they were not really sure of anything.

I find TA as interesting as others do, but people need to stop reading too much into any of it. With Bitcoin, I daresay you get more accuracy reading tea leaves.
14486  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin blockchain graph-based visualization project on: October 11, 2018, 07:04:52 AM
Cool. Beginning to see quite a few visualisation projects in recent months, always refreshing to see new contributions. This looks familiar, can't quite tell as could not seem to enter my own values. Tried addresses, also tried transaction IDs but it still just shows me the default (?) 83080 block images.

Want to test out how the visuals look for some mixers, could be interesting;)
14487  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] New Series, Villains of Bitcoin Trading Cards, Corrossive Creations on: October 11, 2018, 06:22:48 AM
Missed this, not an uncool creation, would have loved to collaborate on stuff like this actually. As in the fantasy worlds of superheroes, villains are or were often also hwroes, it is at least of curious interest to get a sense of how the community perceives personalities otherwise viewed by the mainstream as heroes.

Is there a place to see the entire card deck and other details? Have an idea for it will send you a PM in a bit.
14488  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Few Trusted Escrow Provider on: October 11, 2018, 06:09:06 AM
I know there's that older and more established list mentiomed above but if this list is also somewhat based on bpip recognition rank, then it does have added value. Trust and activity used in old thread.

Also, the min amounts and fees are updated here, old thread isn't clear or inaccurate.

Better would be to combine both, though, even if it's just a starting point. A simple aggregate of ratings from past users would be nice too.
14489  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free Betting Competition $6000 in Prizes Sponsor: Betking.io (Discussion Thread) on: October 10, 2018, 12:04:03 PM
Ah well, so the bet I placed on October 8th didn't count, should have waited for registration confirmation, but no matter.

Anyway, it does seem that the leaderboard is a little buggy, but I think admins have realised this and are working on it. Bets that aren't settled seem to count as a loss in leaderboard, so my cricket bet which is still carrying on now (yes, cricket can take days haha) and shows as a loss, not sure how my stats will look today.

I got some good bets going on on other games, any chance BK will ever extend their football selections? Maybe too much to ask for all the non-senior games but would be great to have Cup of Nations selections, otherwise it's just friendlies for international break (boo!).
14490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $5000 to $80000 in 12 months with 3% compounding strategy on: October 10, 2018, 10:17:56 AM
Perhaps the bad replies owe something to the thread title, might be clearer to just focus on the compounding strategy, which to be clear, has many similarities to career gambling with poker players.

I recently tried to structure my sports gambling as well, and agree that the most important is to be patient and disciplined. I'm perhaps even more conservative, waiting for bankroll to go 20% before increasing units value by 10%. So it will be a slower compounding, but since I'm learning and experimenting, as well as noting the limits, I can still bet for a long time before reaching those limits.

Note, bankroll was only $600 or so, I will consider the experiment a huge, huge success if I could double that in a year.

SyGambler has a valid point as well with Bitcoinrush. Lowest margins on pinnacle. My series of only 30 plus bets already show unit advantages over Nitro well over 100... Similarly, compounding fractions of margin amd, therefore, profit advantages add up!
14491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +218.84 units | 39 bets on: October 10, 2018, 08:52:26 AM
Good day for me yesterday, caught out good odds on live games and also caught a nice value spike, when Australia was cruising at the start and booked in Pakistan at 2.6, they'll surely wrap up the game today onwards. Won't post live bets as they're rare for me and impossible to compare.

Our parlays worked out beautifully, with Legs 2 and 3 wrapped up even before half time. Finland made us wait til 69th minute to make it 3-0 after scoring a 1st min goal but went on to record a 7-0 romp. Watched 15 minutes of the Denmark-Netherlands UEFA qualification, they were 1-1 before 10 minutes... with all due respect, it's rare to see a 0-0 in women's especially U21 and below.

We go again for Over/Unders, this time with Africa Cup of Nations, who always give me joy. Might be a low scoring one for Kenya/Ethiopia, so we'll go for less risky Over 2. Lines not available on Betking.

Game 1. Ethiopia vs Kenya. Over 2 @1.88. Nitro odds:1.868

Game 2. Zambia vs Guinea-Bissau. Over 2 @1.76. Nitro odds:1.748

Odds advantage: 1.8%
Units advantage: 5.89 units

Running units advantage after 39 bets: +218.84 (+5.89)

14492  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: This is SCAM: [COINBASE] Investments - Earn 350% profit mining with us. on: October 10, 2018, 07:21:37 AM
But 1 throwaway email for every new service, and you will slowly be able to identify shady links from the resulting spam.

That's how it should be, but I very much doubt many people here will do that with how they aren't even willing to take care of their own coin storage. People are too lazy, too ignorant, and too confident in the security of the services they use. The only way for them to acknowledge how stupid their internet etiquette is, is to lose money. There doesn't seem to be an other way.

I always make sure I have like 10-15 registered email addresses ready that I can use instantly. That way I don't have to register a new email address every time I sign up to a site or service.

Yeah... I do have a set of emails used to sign up at various services, though eventually when I know I want those services long term or build enough trust, I switch emails. Can't avoid spam is the short story, eventually, someone somewhere gets your address. Unscrupulous bastards or unwitting victim of hacked address book/database.

My very first email from 1994 is a reservoir of Nigerian princes and widows, surprisingly, because I haven't used it for recent services, 100% free of crypto spam. Not a coincidence I'm sure... All these Bitcoin scams and spam originate from the bleeding "community" here.
14493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is testnet faucet wrong? on: October 10, 2018, 06:16:37 AM
This faucet still has >400 coins... and you can get a max of just over 0.8, so it fits your bill:http://bitcoinfaucet.uo1.net/

Or... just set your rig to point to testnet pool and mine some yourself? Shouldn't take more than a few minutes, assuming you already mine Bitcoin.

P.S. Your error message doesn't seem like you're trying to access a faucet at all... "Not enough funds in the wallet to tumble" suggests you're trying to use a mixing/tumbling service?

emmm. http://bitcoinfaucet.uo1.net/ shows that current wallet balance is  414.35778642.But i can get up to  0.08287000. ( 0.08<0.8 )

Besides i only have a pc(cpu). This does not seem to be suitable for mining.

P.S. Yes, error message comes from the tumbling service inseated of faucet.

Ah, sorry, misread the OP. I suppose you could always request more from the faucet and return it when you're done.

I'm not aware of any tumbling service for testnet coins... You testing your own mixer with testnet? If that error is from the service, then the mixer's wallet the one you need to top up... But this should be obvious if you were the developer.

Also, your testnet wallet appears to be 0.92 short for the min 1 required from the error message... Not 0.8
14494  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-09] Roger Ver is Going to Launch Own Crypto Exchange on: October 10, 2018, 06:08:31 AM
Thanks for that little bit of trivia vit05, pity that domain name has been the cause of many a newbie misled into buying something that is not Bitcoin, am sure an exchange shilling altcoins will only make matters worse.

My tingling spidey sense tells me Ver will probably want to jump on the STO bandwagon, maybe even basing them all of BCH. Something tells me (new) investors might not care about the difference. That's the only reason I can think of he wants to wade into this jungle of exchanges.

14496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain API alternatives on: October 09, 2018, 05:33:08 PM
In addition to mocaccino's very useful answer, you could also examine the alternative provided by BTCPay Server. I honestly don't know why not many merchants have tried it, especially when there seems to be success stories already coming out from those who've tried (and who say there's a willing and helpful community that makes the learning curve a bit more manageavle). They're apparently also working really hard to get Lightning Network so there's a huge plus!

14497  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-08] Bitcoin’s Low Volatility Might Mean Price Manipulation Is Waning on: October 09, 2018, 04:19:30 PM
Could be just a simple case of general fatigue across the board, rather than just a lack of interest/intrigue. Almost every channel with the tag signal or whale is now waiting for poised breakouts or yet another slump. Bitcoin volatility is far from over, these types of sideways action is just the gathering momentum before some sudden move that will be as always inexplicable. As always, we'll get the post-commentaries giving us the reasons for why it happened.

Nevertheless, legislators and regulators won't just see the volatility index in the last one or two months. The most important thing for them about how to control the market or at least there is no manipulation occurs in the market which causes new investors to go broke. But, it never gonna happen due to greedy people around want profits as much as possible they can earn.

Exactly. 10 years of parabolic rises, and at least three spectacular downturns will not be easily erased by two or three months of relative stability. We've already seen multi-year stagnancy, and that didn't stop 2017's boom. Those alone will be red flags for manipulation in the traditional sense and impossible to disprove.
14498  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: need an advice about finding crypto influencers on: October 09, 2018, 01:03:34 PM
Personally, I don't really buy into this so-called influencer marketing. Then again, I just don't personally buy into social media. But the stats seem to say that this is the way to go. States, governments, media channels, even non profits... They're all losing public trust. People online feel these influencers matter and from a product/consumer perspective, that's all that matters I guess.

I regress a little but here is a starting point: cryptoinfluence.io

Some I actually know, but don't be fooled by the numbers, followers or reactions. Some of the higher ranking ones just shill. Some dabble in TA, but a tiny handful actually know what they're talking about. Strangely, or not, these don't tend to be popular.
14499  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: This is SCAM: [COINBASE] Investments - Earn 350% profit mining with us. on: October 09, 2018, 11:29:34 AM
Two ways these guys got your email. First, some service you use with that email sold their email list, or is using it to spam on an illegitimate business. More common than I realised before, Open Legitimate Business A. Gain trust and reputation, open Scam Business B, C and so on. Reputation A intact, ongoing valid leads for scams.

Or, hacked database and emails used or sold to scammers.

Which is worse? I can't say. But 1 throwaway email for every new service, and you will slowly be able to identify shady links from the resulting spam.
14500  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are the new NZ customs laws a problem for holders of bitcoin? on: October 09, 2018, 11:14:03 AM
If you're referring to the digital strip search on that Customs and Excise Act, then yeah utter bollocks. Note, you actually only have to provide the password to the device they want to search (phone, laptops etc) and not the password or private key to your Bitcoin wallet... Also apparently it doesn't let them ask for passwords to data stored on clouds.

So yeah, bummer if you have Electrum on mobile, it wouldn't let them access it but they would know you use crypto and might ask to declare.

Just don't put any wallets in public view. Restore and use when needed then delete as Lucius says. Or... Have a red herring wallet ready for such cases.

Stupid, stupid act but many other countries already violate privacy at airports. Been asked to open my laptop once already... Not in NZ.
