Can anyone suggest a good USB hub for use with these, seems it needs certain power reqs?  I have 6 on the way, but can see more in my future.

Best thread for this is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.0

Make sure to read ports usable, and also price per port if your like me Smiley

So does anyone actually expect TH to update us this week?

I wonder how many actually still have open orders at this point.

No. Of course not.

Come on guys give them (assuming there is still more then Amir there) some time!  Amir has to either pay someone to make a picture or find a some advanced looking chips for their next announcement before they take orders!

I mean they could be working on the K-64 they announced they started, or making a proper K-16, or making up specs for their product they already pre-announced, maybe even reading tickets preparing to answer them!

Who knows they could even be a progressive company!  Maybe on this weeks agenda is working from home! They can not answer tickets from the comfort of their own homes!
Did they not yet provide any evidence of a finished or hashing K64?

Its TH..... they announced they were going to start working on one.  The only product to come out of them is a K-16 that did not live up to spec, and had HW errors.

After they announced K-64 being worked on..... they then announced they were going to have another product.   Expect K-16 and K-64 to basically be put aside and TH to ask you to upgrade to what ever their new product is in my opinion (which I'm sure someone will point out soon means nothing)

Funniest part have shown one case and claimed to have 100 i believe.   How many cases does it take to put a single K-16 in working or not?  Roll Eyes
14583  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] Group Buy #12 NEW Blade Miners 4 BTC or less! on: September 04, 2013, 02:57:21 AM
Sorry if I missed instructions on this part but is it possible to purchase the back-plane in this group buy? Since the manufacturer sends one per 10 blades, is it possible to buy it separately?

I also want to know how to obtain backplane for the four blades I have on order.  thx
Not at this time. If it becomes available, I will offer it.
Please, then, find out if this is a part available, off the shelf, elsewhere, and/or what the connection type is on the Blade's board..  It looks to be a custom board, if not connections.

I'm sure he is working on finding out about backplane and more.

As far as connections it looks like we will be able to power them like old ones just from glance.  Might read over setting up old blade, there is a thread with great instructions including power.  That will at least get you up and running. (That is just a guess from looking again, I'm sure we will know more as it seems each day more info comes out Grin )

You apparently have no idea what you are talking about as it is not as simple as copy paste schematics. You really do have a raging boner for Terrahash though, your obsession with them failing cannot be good for your health.

Bar, you're quite cute in that cheerleader skirt, it fits you well!

I admit as a former customer treated so bad, my opinion isn't the same as some others.  It seems from your post's you and TH have had great business.  Not sure what they provided you for your loyalty.  But I am glad someone is happy with their purchase.

I don't have a obsession luckily with TH.  Just more of like if you see a car wreck you look as you drive by.   And with this new announcement the wreck is going to be a pileup.  Just hope fewest customers lose cash as possible.
14586  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 31, 2013, 11:08:21 PM
Why don't you guys complaining make your own Avalon boards?  I mean it can't be that hard right?  Look at all of the other companies with working boards..... wait how many have a K16 or a K64 hashing?  Did you forget who had the first hashing K16 and who BKK himself said is in good shape for when the chips arrive?

I swear you guys must post hoping to get others to cancel so you can move up in the queue.

You realize  TH never has had a PROPER working K16.  They showed a video once much later then they announced they had it working, with it running slower then spec and to much HW errors.   And they announced they were working on a K64.... dont see anything about that.  In months they have never posted a proper working sample.

And TH didnt make thier own Avalon boards...... BBK is the hardware genius who designed it.  TH at this point has made their own anything.  I think the only queue anyone needs to be worried about is refund one with TH.

8/30/13 Thanks for all the compliments, orders, etc. Please continue placing orders. I will be trying to take a well deserved break the next three days to prepare for an exodus of miners next week from me to you my valued customers. I will not be answering any PMs for the next three days but do have a portable wallet with me to continue placing orders daily with AsicMiner. I have multiple orders scheduled to arrive Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday this coming week. PMs being answered next week will slow to a crawl as well. My priority is to ship out orders and tracking numbers. To this effect, I have taken off work next Tuesday-Friday to send orders out. I am a one man crew as my help(son) went back to college and the wife has about had it with miners Grin  I will be back at this in full force all of next week as I have been every week. My goal for the month of September is to sell 10000 USB Miners and as many blades as possible. Thank you for your help in achieving my goals. Have a great weekend wherever you are and remember Monday in the US is labor day(holiday).

Have a good weekend!  You might want to buy your wife something nice before next week lol.  I hear ladies like something shiny...... it was either usb miners or diamonds.
14588  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 31, 2013, 05:15:52 AM
I'm not attempting to attract anyone into anything, and Terrahash is not taking orders.  I'm a customer waiting for my boards.  And, I'm someone that doesn't appreciate trolls...

I can see i sparked a reaction.  I'm just sharing my experience, I'm not trying to troll.  Maybe you have had great luck with TH and Amir specifically.  I did not as i mentioned in my post.

I posted as a former customer, hoping that once they do this new announcement I might save even one person from the terrible experience i had with TH.   No corporation should threaten a customer outside of paypal to close claim, specifically after not responding during dispute time period.  And only sending threatning email not bothering to talk within paypal.

Its almost 100 percent they will do a announcement and open and start selling again.  With them being a Corporation, I just felt to share the warning in case someone didn't know how once things such as salary are paid out of a Inc. you basically cannot sue for that money unless a huge violation of the segregation of the inc and personal accounts.

I also stated i am not a lawyer, and it was my opinion.  My opinion is one of a former customer.  If i saved one person from being threatened by a small company and messing with paypal it was worth typing.

I can understand your anger over waiting on boards from TH.  On these boards they still have not shown a k-16 working proper without hw errors and good rate, let alone k-64 they said they were putting together.

With them pre-announcing a announcement I personally think this has to do with amount of refund requests, and paypal disputes specifically.    Just wait till official announcement and see if they open up orders again.  Chances are there will also be upgrades hopefully free, but also some I'm willing to be they will say so much percent off to upgrade to something higher.

Just give it a TH week which is hard to tell exactly how long that will be, but their new product will have new orders.   With their financial situation the only way they can do a new generation is more money, specifically if all of their unverified parts expenses are true.
14589  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 31, 2013, 01:36:26 AM
Requested a refund last week, and again today.  Haven't heard a peep from TerraCrash.

PayPal is investigating them again.

I would expect they are under the circumstances....

If you request from TH chances are you will get no response.  I got my paypal refund long ago.  They could have cared less about dispute they never once responded within paypal.  Once it was escalated to claim they TH threatened me about paypal rulling aginst me and what would happen.  This is where my TH feelings came from.

With amount of claims and disputes TH's account has gotten i would be surprised if they are able to use it with future orders.  They will most likely want BTC only.

My predictions or as bar called them doom and gloom were really very much spot on:
"Most likely predictions:
They claim to change chips, this basically extends time they have and they will promise higher speeds with newer generation of chip.
They claim to change chips, make this a big announcement and open up preorders again."

They have made a partial announcement, when they make next it will be a different chip.  TH HAS NOT designed anything they are a middle man trying to pay others for design, parts, etc.  Really they take orders..... and there should have been a product is how the company should have worked.

When their big announcement comes out will no doubt re-open ordering(yes this is my prediction see if my magic 8 ball works again).  If they don't re-open orders with announcements i will NEVER post in this thread again.

After how TH treated me i worry about other current customers trying to get money back.  They have already said they don't have the equity to refund all orders.  Please look at how a Incorporated company works, and legal laws with it.  One of the main reasons you become a Inc. is to separate personal assets and business assets. (They could make a argument it makes it easier to sell.... but i don't predict this..... also i don't see their reason having to do with any business loans as i truly doubt they could get it without substantial collateral).  With being incorporated if they are sued or paypal goes after them personal assets and business assets are completely separate.  IF THEY ARE SUED AND YOU WIN The salary the even they mentioned in expenses will never be seen again by buyers.  Their building rent, electricity, internet which we know they have expenses will never be seen again by buyers. Many of their expenses they mention have yet to be verified, even some verified such as chip orders they later said were not expenses with magic get out of order clause.  If you were lucky un-verified expenses have been false. Leaving more money for buyers.

Anyways those on the fence looking at waiting the three months they said they needed to get money for 100 percent refunds just think.   If they cannot produce your money now, and they have not successfully produced even a small quantity yet alone a big order.  What will change in the next three months to make them profitable?  They don't have a proper working K-16 without errors and poor speed.  And they never did produce that K-64 they said they were working on to show.  What do they do with their sample chips?

When new announcement comes out, think hard before putting money in a order with them or any upgrade fees.  And without a new income of cash they will no doubt fail.  They don't have cash for refunds, how do they have cash for new product that will be announced?

/End of feelings after 200 pages
(I am not a lawyer or play one on TV what stated is my own personal opinion and observation's.  I could and do hope i am wrong for bitcoin community on TH, but don't believe I am)
14590  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 30, 2013, 01:44:54 AM
As much as I want to resist posting a reply to this crap, I am caving in.

Translation: I cant keep quiet any longer, as massive amounts of refunds requests.  I have to say something to try to stop legal action
Quote
- Salary
- Rent - phone line, internet, electricity
I said if their refunds happen good chance of salary being in it.... let me pretend to be shocked they list it as a expense.

Also as far as parts they claim as expenses.  There is NO photo proof such of PCB's and 100 cases and who knows what else.  This is the same company that claimed chip were bought and showed proof, then claimed they got out of it magically with a great clause that no seller would have given.

Quote
a) If you want 100% refund, you need to give us 3 months time. We fully acknowledge that we are legally required to issue a refund when asked. Legal issues aside, we ourselves want to do the right thing to maintain our credibility. But the fact is we do not have enough liquidity right now to process all the refund requests. If you are willing to settle for a partial refund right now, please contact us and we can work something out.
b) Keep your order with us. We deliver it within the promised time (2 weeks of receiving the chips). We will also give you a 20% (of your current order) credit for our next project which we will be announcing next week. This credit will be transferable (you can sell it if you want).

A) If they cannot refund 100 percent now take a look at future.  If you include salary, rent, it will only be less money to pay your refund.  Funnel that money out of that Inc. huh?
B)New project!  I got blasted for that as one of my guesses.... and guess what when they announce it preorders again!

Anyways just watch out guys who still have orders, look at evidence, looking like BFL 2.0.  Except this company didn't even design their product BBK did that(BBK is a genius on boards nothing but respect for him he had nothing to do with TH failing).  Who will be R/D for next terahash project?

Or become a chip company and focus on providing chips for others to use in their product.
In the long run I think the successful ones will.   Look at Bitfury.  They sell no boards to the public instead they wholesale chips and rely on three major OEM (US, EU, Russia).  Think of how well that allows them to focus on the core task of chips, chips, chips.  Given their 55nm design has higher efficiency (J/GH and GH/mm2) than some 28nm designs it seems to be working.  If I was a ASIC company I would be worried about what a 28nm die shrink will look like.

Even AMD doesn't make graphics cards.  They make GPUs for a dozen or so OEMs which make graphics cards.

I think if they did it right its a option to.  They just have had a really horrible run at time frames.  I'm all for progress if they could ship massive amounts of quality chips would be great.

I don't envy BFL though even if they had the best chip plan, with past record will be hard to get community to accept it or invest.  They really would have to buy with their own money then sell from stock they have.  Once stock runs out mark as out till they get next batch.  Any pre-order i dont think will provide them with many customers.
14592  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Old BFL buyers vs new asicminer prices on: August 29, 2013, 06:39:19 PM
This is a completely disingenuous market that is predicated on completely ludicrous assumptions.  Lets look at a few of them, but this list is by no means comprehensive:
Mining has different market dynamics than you'd like to make people believe. In mining the product is money or a money substitute itself. Thus miners are generally interested in increasing their purchasing power within the money system itself.

Put another way: A miner becomes by definition the issuer of the currency and benefits from the ongoing inflation because they get the new money first before the market can price in the inflation or the mining costs are generally lower than the mining revenue. He thus operates CONDITIONAL on the assumption that the purchasing power of the mined asset increases, stays the same or inflates slower than the expected incoming cash flow. If I would expect the mined asset price to fall, I would NOT buy hardware in the first place, but hedge my asset position by selling them for something else.

Thus, mining investments are similar to doubling down on an appreciation of the mined asset. The miner accepts a certain degree of risk and capital expenditure for the prospect of getting that capital back. If I expect the capital expenditure to outsize the mining revenue, I wouldn't do the investment in the first place. That simply doesn't make any economic sense.

You clearly do not understand the motivations of the vast majority of miners, then.  This may be your way of thinking, but I assure you beyond any shadow of a doubt, most miners are in it to make a profit in USD (or their local currency) not to "increase their purchasing power within the money system itself."  Most miners couldn't give a shit about how much BTC it makes in the end, they just want to know how much USD (or local currency) it makes.

Once again, I challenge you:

Ask an average miner which they'd rather do:

Purchase a widget that costs 10 BTC and will generate 400 BTC, valued at $2 each or
Purchase a widget that costs 10 BTC and will generate 5 BTC, valued at $200 each

Invariably, the answer will be the second option, even though that person could have increased their BTC holdings by 40x!  Very few people want BTC for BTC sake, they want BTC for what value it provides in their local currency.  Again, you may be different, but you are in a very tiny, miniscule minority.

Do you agree no matter motive, you cant obtain it without receiving a product to mine?

And Josh i love your posts as a follower of the forum.  I like that you have your products made in KC..... makes it easy just use a dolly to move products to you hosting center.

But have you thought about changing aspects of your sourcing and production?  If you cant make a product without getting close to a year back log, maybe find a third party to build and ship to you.  Or become a chip company and focus on providing chips for others to use in their product.

Or you could always focus on getting someone really good at image rendering and announce a PCI-E card that no one has anything close to and charge customers to upgrade at a chance of getting something meaningful.
14593  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 29, 2013, 06:22:08 PM
We will be assembling a test K64 tomorrow.

We really don't know what's happening at Avalon's end. We have not received any communication from Yifu whatsoever.

We are already working on Plan B. Can't reveal anything right now. But will update as soon as we can.

So what have you done all this time in your office if you still have not assembled another k-16 without so many HW errors, or proper speed?  Take a few week vacation?

Plan B predictions:
Least likely:
Partial refund (will be interesting to see salary and office out of this)

Most likely predictions:
They claim to change chips, this basically extends time they have and they will promise higher speeds with newer generation of chip.
They claim to change chips, make this a big announcement and open up preorders again.

Worst Case:
They are saying anything they can to get more time.  With this they use it to figure out a way to funnel as much money out of their assets and close shop.  With it being incorporated any assets they are able to get into their personal funds such as salary and other things,  would be much harder to get even with lawsuit with Terahash legally considered its own entity.
14594  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: August 29, 2013, 05:33:41 PM
This is an update on the MCM hubs.  As I've mentioned in my initial review, it supports seven miners.  There are only 46 miners on this setup; 1+2 rear ports on the last two hubs respectively are not populated (waiting for more miners to come in):

...and here they are in action:

http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/visdude/media/MVI_0112_zps64f2f52e.mp4.html

The hub stands/bases were originally affixed onto the desk (here) but I found it to be inflexible and inconvenient.  So, I got a cheapo clipboard and a roll of masking tape at the local 99-cent store and made a movable platform out of it to organize the hubs.  This setup is ideal with these hubs since one can just pull it from the base and work on it independently from the rest (modular).  Partly seen in the lower right hand corner of the image is another hub.  I have started to create another row of seven MCM-type generic hubs (all black this time) along the other side of the clipboard.  I'm pairing them with 4A bricks (much better alternative than wall warts in that it does not waste and occupy two outlets on the power strip).  It comes out a little cheaper than MCM's without being subjected to exorbitant shipping charges and applicable sales tax.  I would also have a bit of a headroom power wise (.5A more).

The setup is currently hosted through a single USB 2.0 port on an old netbook and draws 11W off the wall while mining.

That is an awesome setup man.

Like the price of hub.  What did you pay for the usb swivels for back two ports?

Where is Terrahash? They are not responding to emails, tickets, voice call (mail box still not setup).
They are obviously monitoring the forum though.

Let it be known that Terrahash will receive my chips today. So the two weeks clock starts now.
I need to know what size and spec of fan to buy but I can't find the info as terrahash is not responding to anything.

I would not buy any size fan at the moment.  Unless I'm wrong they showed one board hashing with hw errors and lower hash rate.  They received more sample chips, but i don't they have ever showed if they even used to make a newer one.  If they cant build a proper one to show off, what do you think chances are they can do yours?

Even if they get the chips I honestly will be shocked if they are able to get you a board anytime soon.

I will get flak for hatting TH (yes i did get paypal refund long ago when they already missed deadlines).  But honestly i would try to get money back, or just count it as a loss and be surprised if you get anything.

Bitmine.ch is  "able to source from third parties a lot of Avalon ICs that is big enough to assemble all of our Batch #1 units."

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215431.340

I wish Terrahash could do the same.

I also wish Terrahash was able to get funded by a "Hong-Kong Based Investment Fund" for 500,000 - 1,000,000 USD.

I'm sure if they were able to get such funding they would be able to "Source from third parties a lot of Avalon ICs".

Know any good investment funds?

Why would they want to use a investment fund when they can get pre-orders?

Think about it from their side they get cash and give up zero percent of company.  If it the company succeeds they still own 100 percent of it and owe no loans.

If it fails they pack up accept their salary they have been getting over the past months and move on.  I would love to know what their salary is they are paying them self's.  Think about they didn't design, build, or buy many things yet.  There is no way they are putting in 40 hour weeks.  But i am willing to bet they get a nice salary.
14598  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How can I make a remotely controlled power switch on: August 26, 2013, 05:53:40 AM
Take a look at those products:
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Automation-Switch-Apple-iPhone/dp/B0089WFPRO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hi_1

http://www.amazon.com/Visible-Energy-VE-178-US-Power-Center/dp/B0057HX17K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377485851&sr=8-1&keywords=ufo+energy

Both of those products would allow to power on/off an electrical socket over the internet using iPod/iPhone app or a website

One of the reasons I was hoping to run a arduino or raspberry pi was because of the price involved. I was hoping to run around 30 computers or so and this might be a bit costly to buy 30 of those things. If these were say like $8-$10 per I'd totally do it Cheesy. But the arduino seems to be the cheapest among from what I've read. If you could find some reliable ones for cheap I'll pay you some paypal Cheesy.

Arduino DIY will be cheapest.  Any of the pre-made and would be very very pricey for 30 computers.  As far as investment you are will come ahead chances are with a little downtime over commercial options for 30 computers.

Only other idea is look into getting cheap backup power supplies.  This would prevent if power is just lost for a moment and keep your rig going.  But with that you won't be able to control remote, and also could get pricy even with used.

Anyone have a picture of one opened up?  I would like to see but sure am not spending that money just to see inside.

Good news TH is finally going to test the new K16 PCB.
Seems like this should have been done a couple of weeks ago.
If changes need to be made this could cause more delays.
Lets hope it goes well and the boards hash with low hardware errors rates this time.

This should have been done in mid-late July, not just a couple weeks ago. Truth is, even if TH had received the chips on time they would not have been ready to have the boards made and shipped by Aug. 15th.

The Spartans were parsimonious of patter. When they refused Athenian terms, on one occasion, the herald declared : "If we come to your city, we will raze it to the ground."
The Spartan answer was the one word: "If."
"If" is a two letter word with a huge meaning. If a bunch of gas particles did not get together to form the Sun, we wouldn't be here today.

"If" TH had met deadlines even set by their self long before chip delay.
"If" TH had customer service, and didn't release information now before they want something.
"If" TH had a board that hashed right without HW errors

"If" TH was a fighting force they would not be Spartans, they would be Custer.  We have this guys, just follow me into battle!!!
