Also you have mentioned March 12th as the starting date of the tournament but I think its March 9 .

Main draws for Indian Wells and Miami always only start middle of the week for both tournaments. They are little Grand Slams and are the only tournaments that run for two weeks apart from the Grand Slams, but there is not enough matches to play for two full weeks. Both have a field of 96, so not as many as GS. and the top/seeded players have byes. Qualifying does start at March 9th and is also televised iirc.

Meta/Reputation/Scam: 1 Platz
Deutsch: 1 Platz
Russisch: 1 Platz
Türkisch: 1 Platz
etc.

But now back to topic: What an amazing night it was yesterday. The Saarbrücken - Düsseldorf game.. a total of 20 penalties in the shoot-out is just crazy. The Saarbrücken goalkeeper Daniel Batz really delivered an outstanding performance yesterday. He saved 1 penalty in regular time and 4 penalties in the shoot-out, what a beast lol. I am really happy for the Saarbrücken fans, I am pretty sure they will have another blast in the semi-finals. In addition to that Saarbrücken is the first team from the 4th German league to make it into the semi-finals of the cup. Can you hear it guys? Berlin is calling!

That was really a crazy one. Düsseldorf were missing so many chances/penalties and of course I lost my bet because of their dumbness. They were pretty poor in general imo and always tried to tiki-taka their way into the box instead of shooting from outside the box. Serves them right to be eliminated.

Now Saarbrücken will face Bayern/Leverkusen/Frankfurt and they should move to maybe Kaiserslautern for that game. They will lose anyway (bold prediction) and should try to max out their revenue to have some more money to work with for next season in third division.
1464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 05, 2020, 11:27:49 AM

Don't like both. While odds for Netherlands remained unchanged more or less, Switzerlands odds have dropped quite a lot.

Ireland has revealed their entry too now: Lesley Roy "Story Of My Life"

I like it, but odds have gone up Grin

Bulgaria's song from Victoria is now known as well ("Tears Getting Sober"), but couldn't find it on Youtube yet.

It's now only missing these countries with their songs (some artists are already known):

North Macedonia
Russia
Sweden
Azerbaijan
Malta
San Marino
Denmark
Finland
Portugal

Since we talked about the ratio english vs non-english songs earlier, which often was around 75/25, I had a look in which language the winning entries were sung since 2000:

English: 15
English & Other: 3

Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Eintracht Frankfurt
Arsenal - West Ham United
Atlético Madrid - Sevilla
Strasbourg - Paris Saint-Germain
Burnley - Tottenham
Barcelona - Real Sociedad
Borussia M'gladbach - Borussia Dortmund X
Chelsea - Everton
Stade Rennais - Montpellier X
Sivasspor - Galatasaray
Manchester United - Manchester City
Lille OSC - Olympique Lyonnais
Real Betis - Real Madrid

BTW Israël has released its song tonight.
It's Eden Alene "Feker Libi"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWMeV3xXuDQ

Thanks, added to first post. I didn't expect such a song from Israel tbh. It's a pretty unique entry regarding the other entries for this year. Odds stayed more or less in the 70-80 range, so most likely a spot in the finals for Israel.

Today, D-day -69 , Netherlands and Switzerland will reveal their candidate.

I think the deadline is March 10th, so we should have the complete list next week.

Normally there is always one or two huge-ish favourites each year with odds around 2-4. But it looks like this year, the field will be way more wide open. Unless one of the yet to be announced songs is a very special one, but don't think so.
1467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 03, 2020, 09:36:14 PM
The song of Ukraine reminds me the song of those babushkas, the voice is very similar imo.

Oh, yes, indeed it does Smiley The babushkas got a lot of points, because they were so likeable and cute, but it's not the Eurovision Who Can Sing The Best Contest - it's Eurovision SONG Contest. And if people like a song, even if it's not perfect, why not. I doubt Ukraine will get a lot points out of sympathy though^^

You are talking about Tatu ? They've participated to Eurovision? I didn't remember that

They participated in 2003 and finished 3rd place then. I remember there were some issues regarding their participation and you can also hear the crowd booing at the start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94FYrYJF16E

I still have something in my mind regarding their biggest success "All the things she said" and Eurovision, but couldn't find anything regarding that.

In 2012 one of them tried to get to Eurovision again, but fell short in the Russian national selecetion to.....the babushkas Wink
1468  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 03, 2020, 04:53:33 PM
Pretty sure most of the fans will like these more work- and family-friendly changes.

I didn't mind these Monday games, but for the fans going to the stadium, and especially the away fans, this is good news. I will still have the crappy Monday 2. Bundesliga game to "work" with Cheesy During NFL offseason it's great to have another late game on otherwise boring Sunday evenings.

Sure you can, just buy a second TV screen  Cheesy.., or just use your Laptop. Thats what we did the past NFL season. No way I want to miss Icke and his crew on Pro7 MAXX. Can't wait for the next season by the way.

My normal setup during NFL season on a Sunday evening is Coach Esume running on TV. I would stream the NY Giants game via NFL gamepass on one of my monitors and on my Laptop I would stream some german Basketball. So with this Bundesliga game on top, I would now have to make some room to watch that one too. Not easy Grin

Can't wait for the next season by the way.

Me too. I am spending my time waiting with following the newly installed XFL, but it's hard to watch tbh.
1469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 03, 2020, 02:36:05 PM
Saarbrücken got 4.75 odds and I try it.

Good luck, odds already moved in your favour Wink I can't see Saarbrücken winning inside 90 minutes here, but X and extra time is very well possible. They are still playing at Völklingen as Ludwigsparkstadion is under construction (for ages already). It's not necessarily a disadvantage, since they play there for so long already, but a more hostile environment like it can be created at Ludwigspark, would give them more chances imo.
Quality-wise I would rate Saarbrücken as a bottom third division team right now. They are leading the table in Regionalliga Southwest and are likely to promote to 3. Liga. Now Düsseldorf has picked up some form after Funkel left. They were a bit unlucky (read: dumb) to let Hertha back in the game on Friday evening, but all in all they seem to be on the right track. I would give Saarbrücken around 20% to qualify, so odds of 1,40+ represent some value for me for Düsseldorf to qualify. Will parlay with Bayern to qualify to make it around 1.60-ish, Schalke is a mess right now.

The DFL has decided to introduce some new kick-off time starting with the 2021/2022 season. The Monday 8:30pm games and Sunday 1:30pm games will be replaced by Sunday evening games starting at 7:30pm. The, as of now, second Sunday game will move from 6:00pm to 5:30pm. I like that. Will collide with NFL, but you can't have it all I guess Cheesy

eh, sorta embarrassed bout this one but since others are sharing.  bet on the us election, back in 2016.
i bet Hilary Clinton 1.4 with not doing much research, or even living in the us.
well, donald trump won, obviously, so it felt like i lost twice.

I actually put a bet on Trump back then Roll Eyes I always try to leave emotions out when doing a bet and only looking at the value. And since for me the elections were 50/50 more or less, I decided to be a sinner and place the bet. Living in Europe, I followed the coverage until 3am and Clinton was leading. I thought, well I love to lose this bet. Waking up the next day, to my surprise, it was Trump who won and I felt divided. I won quite a good amount, but it felt strange of course.

I often bet on cycling and there are some nasty crashes from time to time, where the cyclists get seriously injured. In the past I would take advantage of that and place live bets accordingly, but nowadays I refrain from doing that, since I find it immoral.
A friend of mine placed a live bet against some cyclist who crashed in the Tour of Poland last year. That cyclist died and my friend still feels bad for placing that bet.

Seems that Russia decided to troll Europe this year.

They have a history of doing that and I think it's fine Grin Anyone still remember Buranovskiye Babushki from 2012 ?

They managed to finish second that year, only falling short to Swedens Loreen. If Sweden didn't have that monster of a song that year, they would have won. Then Russia also had that lesbian couple with a really great song, who were kissing on stage and things like that iirc.

They are authors of famous "Skibidi" song and dance:
https://youtu.be/mDFBTdToRmw

I didn't know that song before, but from what I read, they are very successful with their music. In my last screenshot, Russia was @17 to win and now have dropped to around @9. So they definitely have very good chances to win. Russia has the big advantage, that if they have a good song, they always get a lot of "friendly points".

LOL! The second video was hilarious. Not exactly ESC material, though. Grin

I think every song/entry is fine, you just have to live with the likely result, if you are sending something very special Grin There are always lots of ballads and modern up-tempo songs, so I always like when countries give some variety and uniqueness with their entries. Some of them are really horrbile for my taste (and ears !), but it's good for the ESC in general.

I have to say I've never seen a porno detail, how would that work though? A new movie screens and you have to guess what happens next? Isn't it rather predictable ending though?Wink

Yes, you would have to guess what happens next. There were bets like, if an asian girl will enter the scene next, what is the next position and all those things. And while the end is of course predictable, you could bet on "where" it happens. I am not sure, if these bets are still available and I never took my chances, just found it hilarious. Bookies come up with quite some funny things/markets from time to time.
1474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: March 03, 2020, 10:22:31 AM
Unless there is an official statement from UEFA, not playing a game in Europa League is considered as forfeit, no?

If Basel refuses to play at all, this will be the case of course. But before that happens, Basel will move to some other stadium outside Switzerland (Freiburg, Strasbourg maybe) or even play both games in Frankfurt. The odds for Frankfurt to qualify should carry some good value then.

So this decision taken by SFL clubs doesn't have nothing to do with European football in general. The only exception is that other leagues following it and if many teams from several European leagues will cease football activity then it may be the end this year..

Of course there is no or little consequences for European Football, but it's a hint to what might happen in the upcoming weeks. Afaik Switzerland hasn't that huge amount of Corona cases, but they already suspend their league. I could think of a lot leagues doing the same. It's very hard to expand the leagues deep into May, because you have the upcoming Euro, so these leagues could stop with some games left to be played. Who will be the Champion then and what will the bookies do ? The rest I leave to your imagination and your will to take advantage of that money-wise Wink

The 20 teams from first and second division from Swiss Football League have agreed to stop playing during March due to the Corona virus. This could also have some effect on the Europa League, since Frankfurt is scheduled to play the 2nd leg at Basel on March 19th.

I think this will not be the last league to pause their competition and this could really mess things up. Betfair already has a market up, if the Euro 2020 will start as scheduled. Might be a boring summer after all with the Olympics being in danger as well. In yesterdays Tokyo marathon, there were only 200 pros allowed - normally there are 40k runners participating.

1478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Multi-accounts, the industry-standard and KYC. on: March 02, 2020, 04:18:00 PM
Isn't there a regulating body that reviews and approves TOS of gambling sites before they are implemented?

That would be very nice Grin

They can basically write anything in their ToS - but they don't do it. All ToS from bookmakers/casinos are more or less the same; industry standard so to say Wink And I think those ToS are fine. The bookmaker/casino deserves the right to protect himself against malicious people.

The problem is, that they sometimes use their ToS to their advantage and there is not a lot you can do then. There is no "central gambling instance" and sueing the bookmaker is often not worth it. You would have to deal with some offshore jurisdiction and I have the strong feeling, there is a lot of nepotism. These little countries make a lot of money with giving out gambling licenses, but it's just a paper/certificate that means nothing in the end.

I once contacted the Malta Gaming Authority, because I had an issue with a bookmaker that operated under maltese license. Never heard anything back from them, gazillions of emails remained unanswered (and probabaly unread^^). And I suppose it's the same when you try to get in contact with authorities form Curacao, Belize, BVI etc. There some online communities (SBR or Arbusers forums) where you have way better chances to get your case solved somehow.
1479  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 02, 2020, 11:35:29 AM
But it looks like that Bayern will do it again , sadly !

I am no Bayern fan by no means, but I am always fine with them getting the Meisterschaft, because I couldn't care less, if they win their 25th, 50th or 75th title. And I think the best should always win and Bayern are the best in every regard. If Bayern fails to get the title, that would mean a team like Dortmund, Leipzig, Leverkusen, Schalke (god forbid) getting the title and I would dislike that even more. So just let Bayern win every single season.

The only thing that let me always cheer, when Bayern failed to win the titile, were the rants of Uli Hoeneß. Always a joy to watch Cheesy Too bad he has stepped back a bit, but I would think we could see similar rants from Oliver Kahn and I am looking to that, if Bayern struggles at some point in the future Grin
1480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion & Betting] Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on: March 02, 2020, 11:10:16 AM
Of course, it is difficult to have a good vocal performance and have so much movement (dance) on stage at the same time. Very few performers can pull this off.

Maybe they were just too nervous, but they should work on getting the vocals right. You can get away with it in the middle of a song, but right at the beginning, hmm. I think it would already help, if they didn't have to wear the mic in their hands, but use those ones that are put around your ear and then just sit next to your mouth (don't know the correct term for that). They could at least move freely then and have one thing less to concentrate on.

WOW it seems Romania is the game changer of the year, but in almost 2 months and a half, things can change again...

Yes, there is still lots of time. I have yet to find a song with a wow effect (for me). I like the song from Anna Bergendahl for Sweden, but looks like she won't make it to ESC. All others are a bit so and so. From those that are favourites for the time being, I probably like Lithuania the most, but there is no wow effect for me too.

-snip-

If I am not mistaken, you were promoted to Legendary yesterday, congratulations Smiley
