1461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC vs physical gold price potential on: April 19, 2023, 08:56:31 PM
There is absolutely no debate here, bitcoin has a MUCH higher price potential than gold ever will.  Gold is more so a hedge asset, not an investment.  Sure there are times where it can be an investment, and work out like an investment, but savvy investors who buy it to hold for the long run do so with the mind of owning it as a hedge asset if the market tanks.  Savvy investors who buy bitcoin for an investment do so as a "home run swing" type investment, meaning they realize the price potential is great (however that comes at a cost of volatility, the exact opposite of gold).
1462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has a bad reputation (we should fix it) on: April 19, 2023, 08:53:15 PM
I think this is a statement that's got a bit of conjecture to it.  I know a lot of people who see bitcoin as having a great reputation.  Typically the problem is many people whom view bitcoin as "bad" typically simply do not understand it, how it works, what it is, and why it's a breakthrough technology.  I've met plenty of bitcoin pundits and have easily "schooled" them i.e. proved them wrong and every time I'm able to do so because they are straight up not versed on it.
1463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 19, 2023, 08:49:24 PM
Was getting ready to place a big fat bet on the Lakers, logged in to my gambling site and saw this..I do a fare amount of sports gambling and honestly I can't remember there being no odds for any game the same day of, let alone just a few hours outside of the games tip-off/start time etc.  Have you guys seen stuff like this before?  I know some sports books have the Grizzlies at -1 or the game at even, I'd be dropping a bet on those all day.

1464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 19, 2023, 08:42:55 PM
^^ Yeah, same with the Grizzlies game, it was very close until Ja Morant went out and it changes the game for them. Of course, we will give credit to the Lakers for taking the game 1 at Memphis, Hachimura can't missed on the 3 point line.

And then what can we say? Reaves is quiet the first two quarters even missing a easy shot in the first quarter which he usually make. But in the 4th he takes over the game and the Lakers fan love him.

So there are two upsets tonight, Lakers over Memphis and then the Heat taking advantage of Giannis winning this one.

Yes, even if the Los Angeles Lakers had a much easier way in the fourth quarter because of Ja Morant's hand injury, we can't discredit Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura's presence in the court because they were a vital key and the main reasons why the Lakers owned the 1st game vs the Memphis Grizzlies. Well, AD and LeBron was good as expected but the key players was the highlight in this game.

That makes 3 upsets, Lakers defeated Grizzlies, Heat defeating the Bucks, and there are the Clippers who defeated the Suns as well.

And with that, it seems that the Memphis Grizzlies are not ruling out Ja Morant's playing in game 2. I wouldn't say that  this is a must win for them, but they don't want to dig a deeper hole against Lebron and the Lakers going into their homecourt with a 2-0 lead against them. So if there is by chance then Morant will have to show up in this game. It seems that every playoff though he got injured himself and so we are not seeing the full potential of his Memphis Grizzlies although they are not complete because 2 of their players are sideline already.

Even before the Lakers won game 1, I already thought that the Lakers are just too much for the young Memphis team. Now, they have proven that they are the better team, and with the situation of Morant, the Lakers could potentially have an edge. Even if Memphis wins game 2, and the Lakers win games 3 and 4, Memphis will still be in a big hole as only a few teams have come back from a 3-1 deficit.

It can happen that way or the young Memphis will use this as a good inspiration to win the game. Morant-less can be a good advantage for the Lakers, as the main gunner / scorer really affects the offense of their opponents.

Time for everyone to step up and provide numbers to cover what they'll possibly missed while Morant
is still in question if he will play in game 2.

They definitely wouldn't let this chance slide and take advantage of the Grizzlies situation while their big man is still out, Steven Adams, so does Clarke and of course with Morant's absence, it will definitely affect the team's confidence as their star player is needed in both offense and defense especially against a team with more experience like the Lakers.

The Memphis Grizzlies will be in a tough position and defending the Lakers will be a challenge for them, anyway, I'm looking forward on how will they play this game without some of their cores on the hardwood. Still an interesting game to see though.

I’m still seeing the Grizzlies as the odds favorite right now to win. Maybe an opportunity to bet the Lakers I guess. I’m wondering how final all the players reports are for the odds to still favor Memphis. It seems like at this point the Lakers should be the favorites. Maybe somebody knows something. I haven’t been keeping up with the basketball news today so it just seemed odd to me.

I was about to say the Grizzlies being favored is INSANE, but then I saw that Ja is a game-time decision.  I thought that he was pronounced out a day or two ago, but I guess not.  I agree, there is no question in my mind that the Lakers should be favored right now, even if Ja plays, clearly he's banged up and the Lakers have been rolling, the heck are they favored (ESPN has it at even).  I'm placing a bet on the Lake Show right now.

Edit: well...this sucks
1465  Economy / Economics / Re: Should you save, when you are wealthy? on: April 18, 2023, 11:22:25 PM
As I've written a million times over on this forum, especially in the Economics sub board, please only take advice from someone who's licensed to give it.  I'm not saying you have to be a financial advisor to be very good at finance, or giving financial advice, however unless one's licensed, how are you going to know if they know what they are doing or full of shit? Also, someone having a lot of money or hitting big on an investment or two does NOT qualify them as knowing what the fuck they're doing..so let's just make this clear to start.

Now to your questions, there's a million counter questions.  You're kind of all over the place with what you're saying but yes, you should be saving even if you're worth hundreds of millions...(saving can also mean investing).  Money can run out quick, and plenty of multi-millionaire have gone broke very easily..you never stop investing/saving!
1466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is still a digital currency on: April 18, 2023, 11:17:08 PM
I couldn't agree more with you and what makes me really happy reading this is you changed!  I studied bitcoin for an entire year before ever buying..I read books, I read articles , I watched YouTube videos etc.  I've always "been in" bitcoin for the technological breakthrough that it is.  Now of course I see it as an investment now too...but I was there for the days where it was worth very little.  Working in finance, and knowing how corrupt the banks are, I was absolutely excited about what it meant in terms of an alternative to banks...a decentralized digital currency (it just now happens to also be an investment by nature).
1467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take Part in Gambling Lotteries ? on: April 18, 2023, 11:12:33 PM
On one hand I think that only fools play the lottery, but on the other, you can't win if you don't play.  I used to get in to big state lotteries when it would get up in to the hundreds of millions or over a billion dollars during a work "pool", where say 10 of us at work would pool our money to buy as many tickets as we decided and if any of the numbers hit we would of course split that.  Since we had a better chance at winning that way, I would play...but I don't think I've ever played just by myself.  I feel the same for lotto tickets.  I'd rather spend $1-5 on some shitcoin that might pump over wasting my money on a lotto ticket that has a .00001% chance of hitting even a decent win.

I gotta say those 2 XFL games yesterday were great!

you guys really don't know what your missing.

I'll have to give it a try.  I've seen some highlights on ESPN/Sportscenter that have been pretty entertaining.  When I "logged in" /turned on my TV last night, this popped up.  I hadn't even heard about this USFL league once and I listen to a lot of sports talk via radio/tv etc..especially when it's involving sports..

Fucking fox trying to run their usfl games opposite xfl, told you guys they only created that league to sabotage the xfl.

I wouldn't doubt their plan is to kill off xfl then roll usfl back into nfl to keep a a nice neat monopoly.

At least the guys are getting paid and there is a alternative for kids to play and get paid rather than being slaves to collegiate institutions now.

It's been fun watching Gordon play and there are a few outstanding players that will make it to the nfl so I think of it as scouting for fantasy next year. Smiley

The NFL is no more a monopoly than Major League Baseball or the NBA.  There's simply not enough good/highly skilled players to make another league on the same level as the NFL as legit.  I mean the XFL, USFL, Candaian League, Arena League..they all have the opportunity to be a as good as the NFL..but they can't get players even remotely as good.  Why would any player want to play in those leagues that could play in the NFL?  Also career life-spans are very different than in soccer/Euro football..the average football player's career is 3 years.  So most players simply aren't good enough to last long enough to make other leagues more competitive.  The NFL doesn't need to try and "run a monoply".  They were first and don't need to try and compete with those other leagues. Hey I'm all for calling out a scam, or sabotage, monopolies or whatever, but I don't see what you seemingly see with American football.
1469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 18, 2023, 11:02:00 PM
I am sure that the Suns will win, but to have those odds, I can't help myself and wager on the Clippers. I am not saying that they will win, obviously Suns are the favourites here and most likely I will lose, but at the end of the day if I am going to lose, let it be at least for high odds, it would feel alright to lose if you wager on Clippers, but if I wager on Suns and lose that would be a lot worse feeling. Plus going to take Memphis this time around as well, I know people like the Lakers and all, and I like them too, but they are already ahead, they make take sit this one out, and then win 2 in a row at home, which would make the series 3-1, lose another one at Memphis, and then finish off at Los Angeles, that's what I can see happening, not sure of course just my guess.
I think Ja Morant is out so I don't think i'd put any money on the Grizzlies. I'm not telling you how to bet as it's your money but the Grizzlies big star will likely be out the rest of the year with a bad hand. They don't play until tomorrow so you have time to do some research.

This ruins that whole series if he's out.  I was probably most excited about watching this series of all of them since La Lakers had been rolling in the second half of the season and just because of how exciting Ja's play is, and I wont lie all the drama around Ja with him and that gun and what not makes this series even the more compelling ...but not , ehhh..I'll watch just because these are Lebron's final years and he's obviously special...but I look forward to their next series to see better competition (watch the Grizz win the series w/out Ja now that I say this lol).
1470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: we don't have proper education on bitcoin. on: April 17, 2023, 11:36:08 PM
I'm of course echoing others here, but what you write simply isn't true.  Sure, there are some places on earth where knowledge around bitcoin is very low, but there's plenty of places outside of America-Europe that have a strong understanding of bitcoin and cryptocurrency.  Now it's impossible to put a precise percentage on it, as to "what percentage of this country knows about bitcoin" but there's plenty outside this are you speak of that have a sizable portion of the population and least knowing what bitcoin is.

Now poor education is universal.  Here in the US, bitcoin may be well known and becoming more and more popular /bought, but 98% of people still don't have a fucking clue what it really is or how it works.  Same goes for basic finance too, however, and sadly.
1471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 17, 2023, 11:31:52 PM
Man if Ja Morant ends up being out for the whole series, that completely sucks.  I really want to see how good the LA Lakers are, and if he ends up being out for the rest of the series, we really aren't going to get a good feel for how good they really are heading in to the next series ( of course I'm assuming that there is no chance that the Grizzlies can take down the Lakers without Ja).

The Lakers got some nice pieces outside of Lebron and AD..I could see a nice little run.

Bulls game on Friday was a heartbreaker for me.  So close!

It appears that the Washington Commanders might be sold the the group of John Harris, who is also the owner of the Philadelphia Sixers. I am not quite certain what would the effect of this on the team, however, the Sixers are presently not doing very bad under Harris' ownership.

According to some articles Harris bought the Sixers for $280 million and it is presently valued at more than $2 billion. Should Commanders fans be optimistic? I am certain Uncle Ron is quite happy heheheh.

Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder and Josh Harris, who co-owns multiple professional sports teams, have reached an agreement on a sale of the franchise to Harris' group for an NFL-record price of $6.05 billion, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday, per sources.
Rapoport added that the sale is not final nor signed and no agreement has been sent to the league for approval, but a finalized sale is expected if all goes well.

I see that the sale went through.  It seems Commander fans are quite pleased with him being gone.  I don't blame them.
1473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting vs fantasy sports on: April 17, 2023, 11:20:20 PM
I'm not sure where you're from, but here in the United States sports betting has become a much more legalized thing as well as something that isn't looked down upon as much as it once was.  Sure some people still look down on others for sports betting, but that's changing very quickly here.  Once upon a time playing fantasy sports and doing NCAA march madness tournatment pools at work was frowned upon..now it's something companies are actively doing as a team bonding type thing.

Also, sports betting is certainly not sheer luck/game of chance. There is absolutely a skill and knowledge aspect!  Fantasy certainly takes skill as well.  I always say Fantasy Football is 1/3 skill , 1/3 luck, 1/3 dedication.
1474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: April 17, 2023, 11:15:11 PM
I mean slots are a game of complete luck (unless you happen to be playing one of the fewer slot games that actually do add a component of skill) so whatever you're throwing in there, you've really just got to expect it's 100% going to be completely lost by the time you leave the casino.  Of course you can get lucky and when, but no one should ever be going in to a casino to play slots with the expectations that they are going to walk out with more money than they walked in with.

Woah, so that ChiBitCTy card was made for me specifically by Yogg for free. How’d you come across these? I certainly would like to obtain mine. It would have been nice if you reached out to everyone via PM in case they didn’t see this thread. Aren’t these cards property of those Yogg made them ?

Regardless I’d like to get my card..

Edit- I was explained the story behind these. I thought that you had somehow obtained all the originals from Yogg directly.  I see now he made sets. Anyhow, would love to buy mine if possible, of course Yogg never sent me mine. Thx 🙏

I was chatting with a lawyer in the EU who's familiar with this situation.  His words "Unfortunately I'm 99% sure that taking legal action is completely useless. The "damage" is relatively small and mostly for people outside of France, so this will definitely not be considered a priority.  And obviously the fact that it concerns crypto makes it even more complex.  There is no real legal framework, no customer protection legislation.  Also how in the earth is someone going to explain the concept of physical crypto to a French civil servant".
If what you are saying is true...then its a damn shame that this thief is gonna get away with all of the BTC he has stolen and premiums destroyed! Not counting also that he has stained our hobby for years to come as well.
~
Would this fall under a cyber crime?
Once in a while, someone here (in the Netherlands) gets arrested for online scamming. Usually it's something like selling iPhones without delivering them. And by the time they get arrested they've made many hundreds of victims, even though they (often) use traceable bank accounts. Unfortunately, this really isn't a priority. I guess it's the same in France.

That's a fucken shame really.....it will encourage others to commit crimes with very little to no repercussions.

Hopefully Karma will take place...and most of the time it does...like the saying goes, what goes around comes around.

It’s all a shame. Tim Fillmore / Titan should be in jail right now. Patrick /Cold Keys should be in jail right now, the Cold Storage Coin creators (and their many coin companies which were/are also scams) should also be in jail right now.

From the countless hours of scam busting/research I’ve put in, one thing that’s evident is all our legal systems are completely and utterly fucked. LLC’s and “housing”/registering companies offshore at places like the British Virgin Islands are tickets to freely scam. Infinitum is another and that’s just 4 coin makers ..I could keep going.

I am done buying loaded products unless it’s very low denomination. Even then, I probably won’t. Our hobby is ruined. These scumbag pieces of shit have proved that scamming in this space is EASY and legal action against it is anything but.

I just wanted to share.  I don't care if I see any money back from all this, I'd rather see others affected get it over wasting it trying to sue him.  My last thoughts on all this.

I am in a group text chat deal with my buddies from college.  They all played college football and in the NFL so we chat a lot about football and sports betting.  One of our buddies is constantly posting all these $5 bets across all these ridiculous parlays every single night.  I think to him, he feels "hey if I'm only betting $5, no biggie"..but the thing is he's placing multiple long shot bets like these daily, and he wins maybe once a week I swear lol.  The guy really is in no financial position to be doing this, so if this sounds like you..I'd rethink things.

Put about $100 worth of bitcoin on the Bulls last night at +5.5 .  I thought I was doomed in the third quarter.  I am pleasantly standing corrected about Zach and Demar last night.  Lavine was absolutely incredible.  It's so frustrating when a guy of his talent level and skill COULD be a mega-star, I mean he's got the skills to be that, and he was that last night..but he just can't seem to do it consistently.  Frustrating.

Looking forward to betting this Bulls game tomorrow vs Miami.
