14621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Memory Leak in Geth causes ETH drop on: September 19, 2016, 08:57:55 AM
The memory leak may also be used in a larget attack on your machine, e.g. side-channel attack.

Interesting, it looks like I made quite a mistake. Thanks for clearing this up.

Price wise it seems this had a midterm positive effect with ETH now 1%  higher than 24 hours ago. This could be driven by the fast analysis of the problem and euphoria for devcon.

Effective development is usually well received by the market. If it's in conjunction with other good news - even better.
But we'll see for real what actually happened on the markets only at the end of the day.
14622  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Paypal a scam? on: September 19, 2016, 08:33:44 AM
PayPal was built to actually prevent scam on services like eBay.
That's why it allows charge back.
Now its popularity is not as big as its growth so it charges quite a lot and do dirty tricks to squeeze more money from you (currency exchange).

While I would advise everybody to be cautious when using PayPal, it would be wrong to say that they scam.
But while they don't care to understand cryptocurrency, they provide a great tool for scammers.

I'll remain optimistic, which is something rare for me.

14624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoNote android wallet on: September 19, 2016, 04:49:39 AM
I don't know if SPV is possible for cryptonote.
If it's not, the android wallet has to rely on a 3rd party node/daemon, which for some is an issue.
I know that some have made Monero wallets that can work with 3rd party daemon. Such approach could work for Android too (but afaik nobody has done that yet).
14625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Memory Leak in Geth causes ETH drop on: September 19, 2016, 04:37:43 AM
Memory leak means you have to restart the program from time to time, else it could eat up all the available memory then freeze/crash.
It's nothing big and it's not a security issue.
I don't think it would cause dump unless more FUD is placed onto the forums.
14626  Economy / Services / Re: MaskNetwork twitter campaign on: September 19, 2016, 04:31:14 AM
Payments were made.

The campaign will end today. Thanks to all participants.

Thanks OP, it was a good campaign.
I've got all the payments good and fast.

698   Blocks Next Diff Change: 11.17%   Next Difficultu : 251062114895

This is strangely big, I think it will not last too long.
There are still more than 8 days until the next adjustment. It will fall back to normal before that.
14628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: September 16, 2016, 04:23:48 PM
They said about a week ago that the testnet is pretty stable.
Maybe... maybe they are holding back the newsletter to actually announce something. Maybe the time is near.
Or maybe I hope too much...
14629  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-09-16] Anonymous Donor Gives 38 Bitcoins to African Water Project on: September 16, 2016, 01:16:52 PM
Very nice of him.
Dogecoin community did the same some years ago and it took quite a number of donors to reach such a goal.
If somebody affords to really help the ones really needing that... I can only say "very nice of him", hats off.
14630  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Secure Google Chrome Bitcoin Wallet on: September 16, 2016, 01:12:06 PM
I wouldnt store a large amount of bitcoin in this wallet unless it becomes more popular and the community is larger than now, don't know why but I dont like chrome extensions.

And you have a very good reason for your fears.
A couple of years ago there was a good and nice Chrome extension that some have used because it was a Bitcoin price ticker.
A second "feature" of that extension was to attempt to steal your Bitcoin too...
14631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FACTS] Monero = Silk Road Coin NOW ! on: September 16, 2016, 01:09:28 PM
Me ? I would distancing myself from some coin used by meth dealers, terrorists & pedophiles etc.

While your points are somehow valid and somehow scary, there's a weak point in them too, and it was funny to see it.
You know that Bitcoin and US dollar are also used by "meth dealers, terrorists & pedophiles etc.", right?  Grin

Again, your have some valid points too, I don't want to argue about "we should or we should not use Monero".
14632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A slogan for an altcoin on: September 16, 2016, 10:39:28 AM
How would you combine the words "fun" and "help" in a slogan?

"Giving help can be fun"
or
"The fun of giving help to others"
or
"Help while having fun"

These came into my mind, but I think that they can be polished more.
14633  Economy / Gambling / Re: Looking for a PD account! on: September 16, 2016, 09:40:47 AM
1. Tor is blocked.
2. Last time I checked, accounts could be played on and withdrawn from (not sure about depositing) freely.
3. VPNs are expensive and I just need one account.

Opera (yes, that browser) advertised that it has somewhere in-built free VPN, you have to activate it though.
I don't know if it's only in the mobile version or desktop too, but imho it worth researching a little bit more on this subject.

Thank you SafeDICE and SFR10, it was a short campaign for me, but I liked it: everything was well-organized and payments were on time (including the last one).
Also thank you SFR10 for the PM about the campaign end.

14638  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I check my quality of posts? on: September 15, 2016, 06:13:42 AM
I tried looking on the bitcointalk account worth checker, but it didn't show me this.  I'm asking because I was denied from a dignature campaign for a lot of low quality posts.
How is quality judged and how can I improve it?
You tried at bitcointalk account estimator? thats bot and thats not exact you are looking for sometimes its just generated by itself and you can fix you quality post when you are not posting in your local thread and make your post contructive and post a least 2 line per reply and you will see the difference between your quality now and your future quality soon.

Exactly. Everybody said about common sense rules for post quality, but he may care about what a bot would say.
So here we are. A bot tells that your post quality is Fair (70.55%). It may be that "Fair" starts at 70%, so be careful Smiley
This is what a bot tells about your account: https://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/?token=kkm2dg6p
14639  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Free microsoft product keys /MSDN/VOUCH/ on: September 15, 2016, 05:49:56 AM
hello bitcointalk members,

I'm trying to get a name for myself here

Hello BandosKey,

I have given you a name around here - scammer.

Anyone who purchases these stolen keys will also receive negative feedback for encouraging these scams.

Although I am not convinced the keys are stolen, I am stepping back from this.
And since the key did not work for me, I would say that no harm was done.
Could you be so nice to remove your negative feedback from me?
14640  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Free microsoft product keys /MSDN/VOUCH/ on: September 14, 2016, 12:47:23 PM
Hi. I could use a Visio 2010 key.
(I have Office 2010 pro plus registered correctly, I don't know if I need a "matching" Visio key...)

Thank you.

hi, please check your pm the key has been send.

First of all, thank you for the key.
Unfortunately it's not working  Cry. I have no idea why.
It may interfere with my already registered Office which I had before installing Visio.
The registration window tells Sorry, this isn't a Microsoft Office 2010 product key. You may be entering a product key from another version of Office.
If anybody has an idea about what to do to register it, I'd appreciate some help.
