14721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Files ecnrypted with .globe exension requesting 1.5BTC to decrypt on: August 29, 2016, 09:14:36 AM
They will surely not use escrow Smiley
And I'd say you should not send, but it's up to you. Next time learn to use backup.

setup.exe.globe is a file with changed extension, it may not be encrypted.

Get somebody that knows more about computers to take a look / help you out. Don't start anymore from your original OS and make a copy of everything, even in this state. Check your sensitive data to see what was actually encrypted and see if it worth to risk 1.5BTC for it, which may or may not bring your data back.

I've got paid yesterday. The bonus is still not there, but really, I would prefer the campaign to run many more years than that bonus....

corei7          nehalem, westmere

I did a test on Nehalem. cpuminer-corei7.exe works well for m7m and cryptonight.
Joblo, if you need other test on my CPU, just PM me, if I don't see your request in thread within 24h.
14724  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help needed about paypal on: August 25, 2016, 11:16:56 AM
paypal is a real nightmare for many users around the world...

That is because most of you TRY HARD to break their rules.. then get caught.
Then come here and complain all year round.. topic after topic.

PayPal is a nightmare for honest people too. Just try to use it with 2 currencies (EUR and USD) whiles neither is not your country's coin and you'll understand.
(They convert and convert your money, charging a lot for it, obviously, and if you find the way to stop that they hard reset your settings).

I don't tell that some (many) complaints come from stupidity and lame attempts to scam, but some complaints have valid points, don't generalize Wink
14725  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ARE NEWBIES CONSIDERED AS FOOLS? on: August 25, 2016, 11:09:33 AM
For a long time on this forum, I see people demonizing newbies for anything. From What I see, a new is considered as someone who doesn't 'know anything and is not supposed to say anything. Whatever you do, you will be told that "you are newbie". I ask myself, does it mean that newbies don't have a voice?

I realized some people build up their accounts and sell them when they are on a higher rank. They then start another account of which they will definitely start as a newbie. Can this person also be considered "worthless"?

Some newbies are genuine and want to learn.
But there are a lot of newbie accounts especially made for farming or scamming. And that's where the problems start imho: a lot of spam (to increase the rank faster) threads and posts, a lot of threads with FUD made as first post of an account (I mean, come on...!) a lot of newbie accounts asking for loans, scams supported "vouched" by newbies and so on.

Remember that "great" (fake) 1000BTC "giveaway"? I can only imagine how many new accounts were made only for posting once into that one thread.
14726  Economy / Services / Re: Offering my twitter account to advertise your service on: August 24, 2016, 01:52:23 PM
I am also in that same situation to really increase the numbers of my followers and also to make them crypto related but I dont even know how to go about it. If you can help, I will so much appreciate... Thanks and Op you need to take advise...

What I do is to regularly check for twitter related threads on bitcointalk. Yes, I use the search feature, you could do too.
Some threads are about twitter services (post this and get satoshi), some others are about people trying to increase their number of followers.
In both cases, I got all those accounts one by one and followed them. Quite a lot are nice and follow back.
Now, since obviously nothing is for free, I also installed a twitter add-on and from time to time I see who is not following me back and I also unfollow.

Another useful thing to do is to tweet. Not too much and not too off topic, since people will mute or unfollow you. But if you can get this way some extra followers (which you should obviously follow back).

Yes, it's hard work, but it's the only way I know. I hope it helps.
14727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do 2-of-2 multisig addresses make escrows irrelevant? on: August 24, 2016, 12:57:39 PM
Escrow is not needed at all, but a reputable third person is still needed for arbitrage.
So a 2 of 3 multisig, where the third key owner can mediate the issues if they occur is the way to go.
14728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I want to gift BTC to my friend because his wedding. What method do you prefer? on: August 24, 2016, 12:46:46 PM
I'd also suggest a fancy paper wallet (but make sure you do it yourself offline, since if it'll get hacked it'll be embarrassing) and a vanity address (which, again, I'd advise you make one yourself).
From what I know, all the tools are available for download and offline use, all you need is some nice card(s) and a printer.

You can slip somewhere a link where it's explained what he can do with his new money. I'm sure you'll find a blog where it's all explained, just google a little.
You can even print it on the very same gift card, like Read more: http:  bit.ly / some_short_thing

14731  Other / Politics & Society / Re: France, Germany want limits on encryption to fight terrorism on: August 24, 2016, 08:59:15 AM
Recently, I have noticed that the Western countries are electing very authoritarian rulers, who stand against personal freedom. Examples are Theressa May of England, Angela Merkel of Germany, Dalia Grybauskaitė of Lithuania, Park Geun-hye of South Korea, and Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan. Soon we will be able to add Hitlery Clinton to this list as well.

Heh, I wouldn't say Donald (Duck) Trump(et) is better.
But you're right, I didn't think on that: lately somehow people seem to elect the ones that will certainly harm they more. I really hope that this will change soon.

Something else: I've just read this: http://arstechnica.com/security/2016/08/cisco-firewall-exploit-shows-how-nsa-decrypted-vpn-traffic/
And this makes more sense. Whatever encryption people will try to use, the Operating System will send the data to Big Brother before it's encrypted. This is the obvious next step, if it's not implemented already....
14732  Other / Politics & Society / Re: France, Germany want limits on encryption to fight terrorism on: August 24, 2016, 07:44:14 AM
Fight terrorism? Same old excuses. They have been trying to do something like this for a long time. And now with the recent attacks in europe the public may accept that justification. But it won't stop any terrorists. Or anyone who cares about privacy. Most will move to free open source alternatives. If they haven't already.

It's obviously a lame excuse, but as countryfree said, it's a step towards banning cryptocurrencies and (I'd add) god knows what other limitations to the honest citizen.
I feel like the politicians today are dumber and dumber. They don't see it coming, but people will get soon fed up with them.

Maybe OP remembers the problems I had a few months ago
...

The new 3.4.1 works on my Nehalem too!
I finally have a miner which hopefully doesn't have the bugs the old one had (frequent disconnects from pools). Thank you.

Hello,

Is there any working open-source (not Claymore) miner for AMD GPUs?

Thanks!

The OP tells:

Is this still working, isn't it?
14735  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin ATMs on: August 23, 2016, 01:20:22 PM
In my country (RO) you can buy Bitcoin from self-payment machines (zebrapay). The fees are higher than I'd like, but they cover quite a lot of cities and they are quite handy.
But you can only buy Bitcoin, not sell....

There are a few BTMs in Bucharest, but that's too far for me...

Did something happen with PD?
I had to fill the password and 2FA after quite a lot of time it was not required for re-login, I am asked to change seed and when I do that I am told "too many requests"....

Edit: it works now
14737  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Email services on: August 23, 2016, 12:16:00 PM
For my experience even Yahoo was .. fine. Gmail was best.
Other e-mail services I have used and proved to be OK are lycos.com and gmx.com.
But since you experienced issues and I didn't, you better try for yourself these before every day use.

PARIS - France and Germany pushed Tuesday for Europe-wide rules requiring messaging apps such as Telegram to limit encryption to help governments monitor communications among suspected extremists.

I think that they've missed something...
The unencrypted communications are part of the past and present, but no will not be part of the near future. They have to find better tools, not rules.
