14741  Economy / Services / Re: Recover a Yahoo Mail acct? on: August 29, 2016, 02:27:02 PM
Elderly couple visited today, spoke about a yahoo mail account that they've been unable to access after forgetting their password and trying all avenues. They've already given up on the account and he says there is nothing valuable there ... but I'm thinking they may have lost pictures, old messages & memories.

Wondering if someone here has a way to recover the account password, cheap? If there is a massive database of stolen acct/password combos floating around the darknet, maybe someone could look this one up for us?

I'm not prepared to pay a lot for this. But if someone could do it easily, please let me know via PM.

In my eyes this is more like an excuse to get somebody to hack an account for you.
If the account really belongs to somebody you know, you can help them try out all the options to recover the account and if that doesn't give any result, trying to discuss with their support is the next step to make.

If this helps, yahoo was hacked a number of times. So if it's an old enough account, the password is on black market too. Trying to remember the password is the most useless thing to do in such cases. Password recovery is the way.

But again, hacking the account to "make a surprise" sounds strange.

Very interesting result. And I think it's good that the difficulty didn't rise much (although I really thought it will).
Also I think that we have a winner too (Congrats!), but it's Philip's part to confirm it since it's his show.
14743  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coince.com - The Next Mt.gox ??? on: August 29, 2016, 02:11:56 PM
This is not MtGox, this is just a small scale scam/ponzi.
And I think that most of the ones "investing" in this were aware that it's going to fall, rather sooner than later.
14744  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house? on: August 29, 2016, 10:41:01 AM
If Bitcoin goes up very high should i buy a house?

Ive been thinking if it went into very high figures i could cash out 80-90% of bitcoin and buy a house outright with no mortgage.  Is that even a good idea though? - basically 80% of networth in a house hmmm.  On the other hand i dont want to have a mortgage and im fed up with renting due to landlords, letting agents and lack of control.

I would definitely buy a house and, if possible, some land too.
While the population on Earth grows, houses and land should get more and more expensive. And it's also a shelter for you, saving you from another expenses and trouble (landlords and agents).

14746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Files ecnrypted with .globe exension requesting 1.5BTC to decrypt on: August 29, 2016, 10:28:38 AM
OK,

A little update

It seems the files were in process of encrypting
because now all the files look like this

biletetrimitere_document.rpt.id-99XXX999.legioner_seven@aol.com.xtbl

where 99XXX999 is some sort of id ....

also the readme file has dissapeared .... now who the fuck should I contact?

STOP USING THAT OS! Clone the HDD!
Clear enough?

And with the right tool, especially since you know where the file was located and what was its name, you can recover it.
But please, ask for help, you obviously don't know enough to help yourself on this. You don't have anybody near you that you trust and can help you out?

That PC is shut down and the HDD is shipped to me as we speak.

It will reach me in about 1 hour or something like that.

I didn't did any steps as I'm not the one who has to perform that operations!

I'm more concerned about the data on that HDD.

Can someone tell me what tools should I have ready when the HDD reaches me?

I can delay it for 30-45 minutes and not telling the person who should "save it" that it did arrive at me!

Thanks

Although I didn't do this operation for a few years now, I'd recommend Hiren's BootCD. http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
The CD should have at least tools to clone a HDD (I used back then Norton Ghost), tools to recover files (recuva) and antivirus tools.
14747  Other / Politics & Society / Re: France, Germany want limits on encryption to fight terrorism on: August 29, 2016, 10:19:10 AM
I also agree that the forces in countries like Ireland or Israel know much better what to do against terrorism. From prevention to what to do if it happens (even minimize the media coverage!!).
But that doesn't mean the countries are safer.

"Unsafe" is defined more on the terrorist's desire to go there and make boom. The fact that some countries can prevent 90% of terrorist attack means nothing if the attempts are 10x more than in another, weaker defended country.

I think that one of the safest places is Svalbard, but that doesn't mean I'd live there.

What a wonderful surprise!
I received the bonus too, thank you!
14750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Files ecnrypted with .globe exension requesting 1.5BTC to decrypt on: August 29, 2016, 09:14:36 AM
They will surely not use escrow Smiley
And I'd say you should not send, but it's up to you. Next time learn to use backup.

setup.exe.globe is a file with changed extension, it may not be encrypted.

Get somebody that knows more about computers to take a look / help you out. Don't start anymore from your original OS and make a copy of everything, even in this state. Check your sensitive data to see what was actually encrypted and see if it worth to risk 1.5BTC for it, which may or may not bring your data back.

I've got paid yesterday. The bonus is still not there, but really, I would prefer the campaign to run many more years than that bonus....

I did a test on Nehalem. cpuminer-corei7.exe works well for m7m and cryptonight.

14753  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help needed about paypal on: August 25, 2016, 11:16:56 AM
paypal is a real nightmare for many users around the world...

That is because most of you TRY HARD to break their rules.. then get caught.
Then come here and complain all year round.. topic after topic.

PayPal is a nightmare for honest people too. Just try to use it with 2 currencies (EUR and USD) whiles neither is not your country's coin and you'll understand.
(They convert and convert your money, charging a lot for it, obviously, and if you find the way to stop that they hard reset your settings).

I don't tell that some (many) complaints come from stupidity and lame attempts to scam, but some complaints have valid points, don't generalize Wink
14754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ARE NEWBIES CONSIDERED AS FOOLS? on: August 25, 2016, 11:09:33 AM
For a long time on this forum, I see people demonizing newbies for anything. From What I see, a new is considered as someone who doesn't 'know anything and is not supposed to say anything. Whatever you do, you will be told that "you are newbie". I ask myself, does it mean that newbies don't have a voice?

I realized some people build up their accounts and sell them when they are on a higher rank. They then start another account of which they will definitely start as a newbie. Can this person also be considered "worthless"?

Some newbies are genuine and want to learn.
But there are a lot of newbie accounts especially made for farming or scamming. And that's where the problems start imho: a lot of spam (to increase the rank faster) threads and posts, a lot of threads with FUD made as first post of an account (I mean, come on...!) a lot of newbie accounts asking for loans, scams supported "vouched" by newbies and so on.

Remember that "great" (fake) 1000BTC "giveaway"? I can only imagine how many new accounts were made only for posting once into that one thread.
14755  Economy / Services / Re: Offering my twitter account to advertise your service on: August 24, 2016, 01:52:23 PM
I am also in that same situation to really increase the numbers of my followers and also to make them crypto related but I dont even know how to go about it. If you can help, I will so much appreciate... Thanks and Op you need to take advise...

What I do is to regularly check for twitter related threads on bitcointalk. Yes, I use the search feature, you could do too.
Some threads are about twitter services (post this and get satoshi), some others are about people trying to increase their number of followers.
In both cases, I got all those accounts one by one and followed them. Quite a lot are nice and follow back.
Now, since obviously nothing is for free, I also installed a twitter add-on and from time to time I see who is not following me back and I also unfollow.

Another useful thing to do is to tweet. Not too much and not too off topic, since people will mute or unfollow you. But if you can get this way some extra followers (which you should obviously follow back).

Yes, it's hard work, but it's the only way I know. I hope it helps.
14756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do 2-of-2 multisig addresses make escrows irrelevant? on: August 24, 2016, 12:57:39 PM
Escrow is not needed at all, but a reputable third person is still needed for arbitrage.
So a 2 of 3 multisig, where the third key owner can mediate the issues if they occur is the way to go.
14757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I want to gift BTC to my friend because his wedding. What method do you prefer? on: August 24, 2016, 12:46:46 PM
I'd also suggest a fancy paper wallet (but make sure you do it yourself offline, since if it'll get hacked it'll be embarrassing) and a vanity address (which, again, I'd advise you make one yourself).
From what I know, all the tools are available for download and offline use, all you need is some nice card(s) and a printer.

You can slip somewhere a link where it's explained what he can do with his new money. I'm sure you'll find a blog where it's all explained, just google a little.
You can even print it on the very same gift card, like Read more: http:  bit.ly / some_short_thing

Recently, I have noticed that the Western countries are electing very authoritarian rulers, who stand against personal freedom. Examples are Theressa May of England, Angela Merkel of Germany, Dalia Grybauskaitė of Lithuania, Park Geun-hye of South Korea, and Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan. Soon we will be able to add Hitlery Clinton to this list as well.

Heh, I wouldn't say Donald (Duck) Trump(et) is better.
But you're right, I didn't think on that: lately somehow people seem to elect the ones that will certainly harm they more. I really hope that this will change soon.

Something else: I've just read this: http://arstechnica.com/security/2016/08/cisco-firewall-exploit-shows-how-nsa-decrypted-vpn-traffic/
And this makes more sense. Whatever encryption people will try to use, the Operating System will send the data to Big Brother before it's encrypted. This is the obvious next step, if it's not implemented already....
