1481  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take your eyes off from the fall in price on: August 23, 2023, 02:44:24 PM
If you have a huge investment amount in place you won't find it easy to take your eyes off from the chart. Frankly speaking!

Like we say, buy the dip! buy the dip! It's not easy to keep on buying when you have an already invested amount dropping down in value when you were expecting a rise in price by this period of the year but reverse is the occurrence, which also on the other hand shouldn't be a thing of surprise for those that have familiarize themselves with volatility of the market.

We shouldn't base our expectations of the market to most of these market  speculators, they could be speculating base on emotions and perspective.
Your view on the  price of bitcoin currently now depends on you, to some it's a bad moment but for some others it's an opportunity for future profit. What you do with this moment would matter on your portfolio a lot in time to come .
1482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sudden Wealth Syndrome (SWS) In Gambling on: August 23, 2023, 02:17:35 PM

Have you experienced this feeling and what are the steps that you've taken to fight this Sudden Wealth Syndrome (SWS)
I haven't experienced such feeling and I feel that's as a result of how I already have plans on ground on how to delineate any amount of money that should ever come my way into different areas of my life.  With an already existing plan in place the sws won't have a thing on you as you would instead be preoccupied on how to execute those plans with the arrival of such huge amount. So putting plans in place before such huge money, is a  bit of a step in fighting sws.

In one of my leisure time I watched a short clip video about a poor man that was gifted a bag of money (just like that) containing millions in their currency.  Throughout the night of that very day this man couldn't find sleep, feeling uncomfortable he stayed awake all night, and the next money he had to return the money back to  the man who gifted him, saying the money has taken away his sleep and comfort. So a day after returning the money this poor man died.
Now that's exactly what SWS can cause to an individual or a gambler.

Quote
Do you think people who have a chance to make a lot of money should be aware of this and do you know what you're going to do if you won a big amount of money?
Yes, it's important they get awareness about such kind of syndrome so don't don't be taken aback should their star shine on them.
I already have plans waiting for such chance, what am waiting for is the big amount to arrive. Grin
1483  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do star players affect the odds of a match bet? on: August 23, 2023, 01:48:30 PM
No star player is agreeably just a placebo effect on any team, and unlike Ronaldo and Messi who have influenced their new teams to attain new feats, they are expected to perform excellent service in the positions they are signed for and nothing less of that.
It is undeniable that star players affect the performance of their teams. The impact of the player will be seen when he is injured or sick and not playing. Recently we have seen Manchester City struggle due to the injury of Kevin De Bruyne. And when they are available they can perform wonders.
This is quite a perfect example as answer to the question of the OP, for those that were following up that games weeks before the start of this EPL season we can attest that the difference in the odd of Manchester City against Newcastle united before the start of the season wasn't the same odd that City had when the news about kelvin Debryune not been able to fixture in that match due to injury.  The initial odds that was given to City increased which was very rare compared to other times that have played with Newcastle with kelvin Debryune available in the game.

The importance of Kelvin Debryune as a star player in the midfield for City was what makes the difference. The odd makes understood that those chances of long passes and crosses known to be made by Debryune would be missed within the midfield and City's midfield won't be a threat to Newcastle therefore giving Newcastle a substantial reason to want to advance forward without fear. So Yes, a Star player in a team does affect the odd size of a match
1484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: August 22, 2023, 06:26:24 PM
Tottenham are really doing well even without Harry Kane present in the team. I feared that Tottenham will struggle so much after Kane’s departure but so far this season they have showed improvement from the first game of the season. Keeping a clean sheet against Manchester United and winning the game is a resounding display of how solid the team is. Pape Sarr was also impressive in that game as he made attempts and scored the first goal of the season.

By the way, previously I have also revealed about Tottenham without Kane, I stated that maybe with Kane departure it could improve the quality of Tottenham. Because after all, if Kane is still at Tottenham then it is very possible that Tottenham has a dependence on just one player. But if Kane leaves, then it is also possible that Tottenham can improve overall teamwork. The proof, Tottenham managed to beat Manchester United also with a clean sheet, obviously it was a good result for Tottenham to win in a big match like that.
Yes they are doing well, but not because of Harry Kane departure but with some key signing both defense and the coach philosophy and the pressing tactics is really working out well not allowing the opponent to hold much on the ball, they are still missing Kane because the attack is not that sophisticated because son has not been in fine form, I strongly believe they will miss Kane, but the coach is technically sound right from when he was at Celtic and bringing that system to Tottenham I think it will work well for Tottenham.
1485  Economy / Economics / Re: Which problem will you choose to solve? on: August 22, 2023, 05:38:55 PM
The problem of a poor man is all tied to money and that's an easy problem to solve when the money become available, but for a rich man to have a problem and his wealth can't solve it then that problem is beyond money problem. Invariably what am saying is that poor people's problem is easier to solve in as much as money is at hand. Their problem is 99% related to money but for that of a rich man who already have money and yet can't solve it then that problem is something beyond the ordinary. So therefore, I'll prefer solving the poor's problem cause they're mostly resolvable than those of the rich .
1486  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: August 22, 2023, 01:38:48 PM

4. Make the 24 hour rule
This rule helped me when I was building in this way. Because when I want to buy something, I put it off for 24 hours, and during this time I learn how to assess these things. Usually the excitement we experience disappears immediately after a few hours. You imagine the sacrifices you will make when you accomplish them. Like the small savings you have or sometimes we will even borrow the money we will use here. At least in this way we can avoid impulsive buying or bursts of emotion.
This was typical of me and I had to spend money of items and services I real sense of it all never was in need of. After a while I discover it was all a waste and I won't have use for them anymore since the excitement had faded. Although op calls he's "the 24 hour rule", mine is the procrastination strategy which really started working for me curtailing my expenses and saving cost. For everything I want to buy I have to question why am buying it and if I don't have concrete reasons I just walk away saving myself piles of expenses.
Some people just want to impress other people, buying to show off, very few rich people walks out of such lifestyle still remaining rich, majority come out broke with debts.
1487  Economy / Economics / Re: The whales stirred. What should we expect? on: August 22, 2023, 01:10:03 PM
As a "crypto optimist" as you put it, I can say that this is a teeny tiny microscopic correction and not even worth mentioning. And your masters should start to realize that they cannot control and manipulate anything they want. Bitcoin can't be stopped. Period.  Cool

"And your masters... "Don't try your slavish thoughts on other people ! Especially people free from any "masters", whether in crypto or fiat world Smiley

Not a small correction, but now the talk is that the prospects of bitcoin are not the most positive, to put it mildly Smiley
Time will tell what will happen next, but so far we don't see any noticeable events and activity that would talk about a pullback to 30k and further growth.
Now it is most difficult for those who believed in bitcoin and invested heavily there. I have always said - diversify your assets, and you will be calmer and more profitable ! Smiley

There's wisdom in diversification of investment as its a way of backup in the advent of a crash on one you're covered with the rest others. I am an ardent proponent of bitcoin but I wouldn't advise anyone to heavily invest only on it, splitting the investment to other areas would be more profitable and secure.  Now at this time bitcoin is dwindling in price and with the news of the whales moving their bitcoin, anyone with diversified portfolio won't shrink because there's no way all his different investments will be doing bad at same time.
If someone expresses that the actions of the whales withdrawing their bitcoin from their untouched wallet will affect price of bitcoin, such person is not wrong in that thinking, we are all speculating because none of us knows what the future holds, everyone is free to express their thoughts but that doesn't mean their thoughts or that of mine has any determinism in the future of bitcoin.

3- Writing down your password rather than saving them on your computer is a better idea. I have a small notebook which I keep my passwords.
I also have a word document which I save some of my private keys, it is a locked document - not so safe I know...
Not just our passwords but  our wallet  private keys inclusive too, The online isn't safe to save such important information, with brute force those informations can be stolen but when they are stored in documented books there's no fear of hackers , all you got do is to keep it I'm safe and secure location. And it's recommended to out down either your password or seed phrase in multiple piece in case one get destroyed by accidental means you have a backup.

8- KYC issue: I prefer not to do KYC for airdrops or bounties. If their database gets hacked, your passport can end up in Dark web. For exchanges, I always try to use my Driving License instead of my passport for KYC (some of them only accepts passport :/ )
The request for KYC was part of the discouragement I had with chasing airdrops, giving out my data to some unsure projects. I felt the risk is way too much when I asked myself what if reverse turned out to be the case for me if anyone should get access to my privacy clear my funds through the data's I give out in hopes for those airdrops that wasn't forth coming even after several trials.

1490  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Btc forecast 2023-2024 on: August 21, 2023, 05:15:26 PM
If you have been studying the price movement of bitcoin for the past years you wouldn't worry about bitcoin price hitting 20k$ or lower, there's no cause for alarm, that's just another opportunity to increase profit by buying more as the price dips because the next market action would be a bullish take over.  My thoughts are that this current price at 26k might continue to go lower but the year 2023 won't end with bitcoin price below 30k above. And what's this talk about institutional buying? I would love to know more @OP.
1491  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When Trading becomes Unfavourable on: August 21, 2023, 04:54:04 PM
Sticking to the trading plan is also good to avoid unfavourable trade as changing plans in the middle of a trade Can really lead to a loss in trade.

Sticking to the original trading plan is actually good but there are circumstance in the course of the trade that will necessitate a change of plan that's why as a trader always have a contingency plan/strategy for every trade you execute so you don't get stucked in the middle of a trade that's not going in your favour and needs an immediate change of action you don't start working on emotions and blind trading.
1492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I will pass KYC later is a bad idea on: August 21, 2023, 04:34:01 PM
Submit your identity and wait for approval, do not be in haste to make deposit first, because the identity you submitted without a green approval from the team can still be rejected, take your time to get the passed approval first before proceeding with gambling.
I learned this the hard way and the terrible experience still stays with me till this day. I had played in an online casino for about two months. During this time I made some wins and was able to withdraw my money without submitting any KYC document. Then one day I had won close to a $100 and was when I tried to withdraw the money, I was asked to submit some documents for KYC before withdrawal. One of the documents kept on getting rejected for almost three day until I submitted another one. It was a terrible experience. Since then, the first thing I do after signing up on a casino is to go to my account profile and submit the necessary KYC documents. And if the documents keeps getting rejected and I think some casinos intentionally do this, I simply sign up in another casino.
That's why it's important to always sign up with reputable online casinos, they won't want to tarnish their image for a few bucks by constantly rejecting appropriate documents for KYC  from customers considering how that will endanger their getting of more clients which is no good for business.
But to avoid some dramas completing KYC should be the next move a gambler should make before thinking of depositing than waiting to learn through the hard way. Be it a reputable or those dubious cansinos KYC is easier done and accepted with ease by online casinos when there's no deposit made to the account since there's nothing like funds in there to protect so why the fvck do people keep ignoring.
1493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: History of Gambling From Ancient Times to the Digital Age on: August 21, 2023, 04:10:09 PM
From the history of gambling it's like every tribe tried to create a means for recreational activity which metamorphosed into what it's known today as gambling, and the observation is that these different types of gambling the As-Nas, poker and the blackjack games were dominated and participated by the wealthy rich people which means they were mainly meant for fun and leisure, not essentially for sake of making money from it as we have today resounding number of gamblers are gambling because they need money or feel they can become rich by gambling.

I think West Ham and Chelsea is going to be a very interesting game... I like the way West Ham played last season, they were probably better than Chelsea... But today I expect a serious fight and maybe Chelsea will win... A good bet would be both teams to score...

It is quite reasonable to bet that both teams will score, I think we will watch a competitive match. Chelsea have a better squad than last season and they need to show themselves. Therefore, they will be willing and competitive in this match.
I think Chelsea will win the match, bets can be placed on that too Smiley
Chelsea are expressly going to win this match against westham. The team has had a lot of improvement so far with the players seriously wanting to show themselves and impress the new caoch Porch.. and with the performance they pulled out in their first game of the season with Liverpool it's clear about their improvement bouncing back to the London blues we ones knew. Am predicting a correct score of either 2-1 or 3-1 in favor of Chelsea.

My prediction is based on the defensive midfield line of the blues with the trio of Lavia, Enzo and Caceido we're not expecting less of a victory.
1496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 20, 2023, 02:09:32 PM
Congratulations to Spain for the beautiful victory they embraced from England in the final battle, because many people predicted for the favour of England to win the trophy but their strategies failed in this last battle. It was a surprised for Spain to take the lead from first half with 1-0 till the end of the match without allowed England strikers to have their way to equalized the goal in the second half than to made their defense stronger not to allow any mistakes to occur that will lead to penalty shootout which was the hope of England players. I think, Spain really deserved this season trophy because their coach did a wonderful job in this final match that made the team to embraced FIFA women's world cup 2023.

The Spain women's team players performed very well from start to finish. We were enjoying their game and the England women's players were a little less diligent. Because they missed many attacks though it is never possible to score without counter attack but somehow they could not succeed. Spain women's team players were able to score a goal because of England's defender. Spain team is over the moon as they have worked hard for this trophy. Thanks to olga Carmona, she led the Spain team to the top with her performance. And the England team had enough chances to score but the Spain team was lucky because it didn't go to the penalty.

It only takes the best to be victorious and in today's game Spain women has performed so well that even the England lioness couldn't beat their reach. Though England had quite a few chances to turn the game in their favour but they lacked the prowess in today's game unlike other games they had played in the tournament. I have always predicted of the spainish women having to win the WWC title 2023 right from when they qualified from the round of 16,  and it' wasn't a thing of surprise as they are now crowned the champions. Congratulations to them.
1497  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Factor behind the rise and fall of Bitcoin price on: August 20, 2023, 06:35:39 AM
Good day my fellow Bitcointalk members, i have been longing to ask this question, so I decided to come to you guys to learn from your wisdom rather than having a random online search which seem confusing most times.
Please I want to know the factor behind the rise and fall of Bitcoin price?
Some say its influenced by supply and demand but I need more conviction.

Thanks in advance guys.
Bitcoin is mostly influenced by supply and demand in the market but there are other factors that also contributes to the changes in bitcoin price and the news is one of such. When news fly's around about a sudden occurrence in the market such news wether good or bad does influence the actions and inactions of traders therefore affecting bitcoin price to either rise or fall depending....  And these news causes quite a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt among traders which could lead to making wrong market decisions.

I registered in this forum ten years ago. I've found out about Bitcoin and this forum in early 2013 but didn't need to register back then. I signed up on 26th July 2013 and I'm here for a decade. I never imagined I'd be here this long. This forum has been an important part of my life, just like Bitcoin.

Glad I decided to sign-up here 10 years ago. Here I met very good people from all nationalities, made good friends and had job opportunities. Even though sometimes I took a break from writing to the forum due to dramas and tiredness, I never stopped moderating the forum. I tried my best to make the forum work as intended.

I hope to be here longer. I think I'll stay here until Theymos decides to close the forum. I would like to see at least new forum software. Tongue
Ten years isn't ten days that's about 3'650 days, @EFS I can only buy imagine how much contributions you must've contributed to the growth, development and stability of the forum all this years. Some of us newbies do wonder at times how and when are we going to attain such levels as yours but it's now done on me that the journey is a gradual process with a lot of hardwork and consistency as long as you know what you want.  Congratulations on your one decade journey in the forum.

I don't see what Manchester united is playing as they only had opportunities in the first twenty minutes wglhich Gnarcho wasn't able to pass the ball properly into their opponent box. Onana has been the saviour of the first half with his superb saves that he made.

Tottenham is pressuring the game and they are creating opportunities for themselves in order to net the post but they have being unlucky. The deadlock hasn't been broken yet from both sides and the match is still a goalless draw. I hope that Manchester united will be able to come back with full force in the second half to score at least one goal.

Man Utd are a very average team but they often win games without deserving it. Spurs have had a lot of chances and really should be winning. Hopefully they don’t regret all the missed chances because United have a lot of clinical players, if they get a good chance they will probably take it.
It has been a first half characterised with loads of much chances for Manchester United and even Tottenham Hotspur but yet goalless at the half time played. Fortunately for Tottenham Hotspur they have been able to convert their first chance as the second half just kicks off 50 minutes on the clock, and it's seems Spurs are increasing with the pressure as Onana has been absorbing few shots this second half.  I hope Spurs are able to hold the goal against a stalemate result at the end of 90mins.
Tottenham has broken the deadlock in the first two minutes of the game. The goal was scored by Sarr on the 47th minutes. I don't understand what is wrong with United in this game as they are taking the game for granted which is leading to them messing up with the game. They are giving Tottenham the strength to put pressure in their box. Presently,United are trying to equalise the goal but it is not easy for them because their opponent is also pressuring to score the second goal. Onana is really helping in the match as he keeps stopping Tottenham goal attempts. Manchester united is having problem with their midfield.
It is a bad weekend for United. Tottenham pulled the right strings on the game taken control of the midfield destabilizing United defense side for the second time with Lisandro Martinez ball hitting th back of the net giving Spurs their second goal. United were lucky to had escaped this fate from wolves but Spurs didn't let them have that luck today. It's time for United to beef up their midfield by signing the needed players to fill in the gap, and Pavard and amrabat have the skills in that position so it still baffles me why United are still wasting time to offer a better amount.
