1481  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why it's very important to develop a thick skin on: January 06, 2024, 08:56:53 AM

Their are so many people out there that small criticism of how they are going wrong, they would want to run away, by resigning or quiting, but to be successful you need to understand that you cannot please everyone, and your decision making might be wrong which will definitely attracte criticism, but a man with thick skin will learn from it and move on instead of quitting.

Developing a thick skin is very important to move on to the next level in life, it'll help to absorb criticism and all sorts of negativities that can slow progress in life, so if someone wants to achieve greatness they'll have to accommodate all the criticism, learn what they can from them and move on. I remember my newbies days in this forum, I'll make some comments as a novice and some experienced members will rubbish the post without considering that the writer is a learner, I'll naturally feel hurt and discouraged, but in the end I'll develop the thick skin, learn from it and move on. If I had quit because of the negative remarks, I wouldn't have remained in this forum till today.
1482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does inactive users deserve merits? on: January 06, 2024, 07:51:17 AM
There have been some good and quality posts that I've come across why navigating through the forum and I found out that some of the users have been inactive for a very long time but the posts they've made deserved merit, so is it advisable to merit the post(s) of a user(s) that have been inactive for a long interval of time considering the fact that they made Meritable posts?

Ofcourse the essence of merit is to reward quality posts, it doesn't matter how long the post have existed, it'll probably be the first time that you're coming across it. Although you don't need to focus your worry about rewarding merit to inactive posts because there are many active quality posts that are under merited, I think that those are the more deserving, however it's your prerogative to decide who you give merit to.
1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The most awesome whitepaper for an altcoin on: January 06, 2024, 07:10:20 AM
At least he was sincere with his words and made it very clear that this is only for speculation.

It even deserves congratulations for its honesty lol

Completely different from the vast majority of currencies, they are scams just to enrich developers by promising things that will never exist.

A typical example of truth hurts, and it's better to hear it and know the level of your expectations, so you don't say that you've been deceived. The writer is very blunt and I wonder about his expectations for getting investors, since they'll want to hear assuring promises, even if they know that half of them might not be fulfilled. Good luck with the truth, atleast people knows the expectations of what they're buying with their money.
1484  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Abeg my country people make we no dy paint ourselves black for outside abeg on: January 05, 2024, 07:05:14 PM
Infact @Funke, go too far for dat thread wey im start, she no get any justifiable reason to paint di county black as you talk, evendo say na true say corruption too much for di country. As corrupt people de na so incorruptible people also de, but to generalize the whole country as corrupt no go do us good for di forum. Wetin worry me pass for di thread be say people from oda countries fit to de tag we Nigerians for di forum as people wey de corrupt for dem mind, because for a forum like dis reputation matter well well.

I de happy and I commend you OP as you put di record straight say no be everybody corrupt for di country, I see say members from oda countries also make Funke, to understand say corruption no de peculiar to Nigeria, alone. I believe say na over excitement say make im impress for di forum make am go dat far, hopefully she go do don learn her lesson from her post and she go de apply wisdom for her posts henceforth. Nobody is above mistake.
1485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero (XMR) and other privacy coins at risk of delisting from Binance on: January 05, 2024, 06:01:17 PM
In a recent announcement, the infamous crypto exchange Binance has added the Monitoring tag to Monero and other privacy coins.
Cryptocurrencies with the Monitoring tag are at risk of delisting from Binance.
Well, Binance is being watched so it's not surprising that they are just in compliance with the law enforcement agencies. There are top tier exchanges out there if you are too concern that you'll not end up selling them, we cannot control most of these regulations so we just have to abide in it.

Although I won't call Binance, infamous, I think that with the incident of their former CEO CZ and law enforcement issues, they'd want to comply with regulatory policies of countries that people use their exchange services most. I learnt that they did not specify reasons why they need to delist Monero and others, it should have shown the rate of their transparency, so their users can take note. Inasmuch as Binance still gives quality exchange services, I guess that we can still use their services, if any user is not certisfied with their services there are other exchanges to choose from, people are advocating for DEX, perhaps it's the way forward.
1486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eight reasons why BTC will Fail. Thoughts? on: January 05, 2024, 04:35:15 PM
Not sure about the 8 reasons why BTC will fail, but the question to the OP, can also think of reasons why it will not fail as well?

Bitcoin has been with us for the last 10 years, and if there are chances that it will not succeed, then it should be in it's early years. And it almost happen, many early adopters quit and few of them really stay. But still even if the disappearance of Satoshi, the market continue to thrive to where it is right now.

So to say that there are reasons now for Bitcoin to fail? it could be just pure hatred on it, in my opinion. Then we think and insert terms, and what not to confuse Bitcoin enthusiast and then preach all about the so called fiat system.

The OP love for Bitcoin is questionable because with his 8 prophecy of doom why it'll Fail gives no room for love, coming from a person that has such strong contrary views about it, perhaps he's giving intelligent contrary opinions why Bitcoin can fail. Bitcoin is designed to be volatile, therefore it's market trends that determines it's pump and dump in price will always give it a balance and relevance, and people will continue to invest in it because it'll keep being profitable. It has survived in it's infancy to this stage with many skeptical minds that we're against it now realizing it's potentials as the valuable asset that was intelligently designed to outlive us.
1487  Economy / Economics / Re: How is it possible to say there is no money in the bank on: January 05, 2024, 01:26:39 PM
The first quarter of last year was economically a very difficult time in my country, the central bank of Nigeria, redesigned naira, our local currency, problem was that the new designed note wasn't sufficient to go round and the old notes were banned. People suffered because of the shortage of cash, you couldn't get from the banks and people really freaked out, we were left with only online transfers option. So in December, last year people began to hurd cash in their homes out of fear of what they faced in early last year. So when you went to banks to withdraw cash, they'd give you like half of the money that you need, if you complain they'd tell you that they don't have cash, it was really very inconvenient.
1488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 05, 2024, 12:44:39 PM
There has been a lot of talk about the reality of gamblers “gambling for fun”. I think most people are in denial about the subject. I don’t think anyone would be interested in gambling if there wasn’t nothing at stake. The thrill of winning is what excites gamblers and makes the gambling casinos one of the biggest markets in the world. I doubt people would be interested if there was no reward in gambling. Little wonder why many people do not like to play demo game.

I reason with your submission because the money that we bet is the thrill of the gambling, without staking money when we gamble, the excitement will not be complete. You raised a valid point also, when you reasoned that if gambling is just for fun without the prospects of winning, then we'll be happy playing demo games with no monetary attachments. It's human nature to want to conquer and win, even when we have so much, we'll still want to keep aquiring and winning, that's the underlying fun why most gamblers always comes back to gamble more. I even started a similar topic in this gambling discussion board, because I think that we might gamble for fun, but the underlying thrill is that we want to win money and more.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5479442.0
1489  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Wetin be your crypto new year resolution? on: January 05, 2024, 10:55:38 AM
In the beginning of every new year, most people de get plenty new year resolutions, both di ones wey de achievable and di ones wey dem de depend on miracle to achieve. Aldo e de better say make we de base our new year achievement plans on wetin de achievable for our level. So as e concern cryptocurrency matter, e de very good say make we get plans on ground on how we wan take make plenty profit from dem. Without a well thought out plan and sticking to am, we fit to derail along di way and the goal of di new year resolution no go reach im destinations.

We get different options to take make profit for cryptocurrency market, and dem de inside two categories wey be trading and investment. Trading de very profitable on a short term, but e carry plenty risks too, a trader need to get knowledge of fundamental and technical analysis, if no be so loses go de plenty. Investments de profitable but the investors need to hold for a long term to guarantee ROI. Aldo you need to hold reputable coins like Bitcoin or top altcoins like Ethereum to get di guarantee, to invest for new projects fit give an investor plenty profit on a  very short time, but dem de very risky, because most of dem no de reliable, you fit lose your money very fast. E de worthy to note say scam de plenty for crypto matters so person need to carry out proper research before im go commit im money.

As we de expect Bitcoin halving this year and after dat we go come expect ATH bull run, my new year resolution na to de DCA and accumulate only Bitcoin to de hold till di bull season proper. Top altcoins go also experience bull run but I no want distractions, so na only Bitcoin for me. So na wetin be your crypto new year resolution?
1490  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Las Vegas judge gets attacked in court on: January 05, 2024, 09:08:27 AM
We should not aactuslly spend  time and energy overthinking or analyzing what happened here what could have led to this person to believe he could physically attack a judge in front of everyone like that and assume something as stupid and reckless as that may have helped him with his case, facing justice. The explanation is rather simple, there are trully deranged and unhinged people out there in the world and I have got the feeling that kind if person is over represented in the prison system of the united states, this is not the first time I have seen it happening on video, and will likely not the last time.

The guy's character if simply put in one word is "dumb", or what other naretive can we use to qualify his action, that is stupidity in the highest order. I hope that the full weight of the law is brought down on him to serve as a deterant to other dumb individuals that'll mistake foolishness for bravery. The world is full of deranged individuals and their mental health should be examined to determine whether they belong to rehab or prison. Although the judge's ruling against him might be biased, but attacking her car never be a viable option, instead it'll change the naretive of the case to be against him. We must monitor the behaviors of people that are close to use because some might be deranged and can harm us without thinking twice.
1491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: Email marketing firm Klaviyo, hacked, crypto industry lists stolen on: January 05, 2024, 07:56:52 AM
When will these actors stop hacking from crpto industries

Really?! Probably never. As long as it's profitable, as long as companies don't protect themselves good enough, as long as people keep falling for phishing, I don't see why would they stop or how could they be stopped.
Learn to protect your back. Teach others too. Sooner or (more likely) later people will stop falling for this kind of scams and then it will no longer be profitable for them do this.

These hackers are career criminals, they'll keep modernizing their crafts as technological innovations keeps advancing, so it's left for individuals and corporate bodies to keep upgrading their security systems. It's very worrisome that everyday we keep hearing about hacks, especially crypto related, this is not a good development, last year 2023, I read about many hacks on exchanges and wallets that I can't even keep count of. So whether it's crypto, email or anything that has to do with the internet, we must be very careful about exposing our private information and always be security conscious.
1492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your altcoin holding with low value on: January 05, 2024, 07:08:42 AM
For those of us that are into altcoin signature campaign and have accumulate some in your wallet, what do you do with it since some of them has low value at the moment if you check their current price?

Do you keep holding it hoping that the price will finally come up since it seems you can't actually trade it with it current value.

Will the altcoin become valueless after the campaign is over or could still gain value after some years.

It's said that he that is down fears no fall, so if your altcoin is dumped already then what worse can happen, especially if it has fallen below your purchasing price, what is remaining is either it dumps lower or eventually starts to pump. Besides it is better to buy when there is a price dip, because the probability is that it can start to pump, so hopefully as most altcoins are appreciating because of the coming Bitcoin bull run, the altcoin you're holding will join the bandwagon.
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana Altcoin Gems still appearing. on: January 04, 2024, 10:29:48 PM
The Helium thing is surely enticing knowing that they're offering what? $20(if I remember correctly) a month for unlimited data? That's like super cheap, especially in the United States. Though I haven't dug deep enough to know what the 'catch' is. There should at least be some downside.

Whatever the downside might be, I guess they must have thought about it before setting out to make it, all I know is users are earning some tokens of $MOBILE for using it, which can be withdrawn and traded on exchanges where it is listed. I guess they're trying to be innovative in a unique way just to make people use their products, it's fair for me.

If it's a marketing strategy then it's working well for their investors and would be investors, there's nothing better than giving consumers extra value for their money, they'll advertise the product with happiness. So far the innovation of giving their customers free token is increasing investors perticipation then it's a good strategy.
1494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Myria - thoughts? on: January 04, 2024, 09:44:47 PM
The token recently listed in Bybit exchange with a reward for traders. I also heard about this token in video from a well trusted youtuber but I took it lightly and after that the token pumped 1000%. You are lucky for taking entry on the time. Project is looking promising and current position show that we big exchanges Binance and Coinbase may list it in the future. I suggest for selling your initial investment and just play with profit.

Success is everybody's friend and I'm happy for the OP for buying into a reliable token that is still pumping and has the potential of giving multiple times profit, although I hope that he takes your advice and sale the worth of his investment capital, then let the ROI to be playing along.
Myria, is not Bitcoin, so it can dump and not pump again. Many investors that have taken advice from YouTubers and influencers from different platforms on the social media have different stories to tell, some bought into scam projects and coins that are doomed from the start, so it's better to carry out proper research after hearing about any projects from a YouTuber.
1495  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: My advice concerning the new trend (No gree for anybody) on: January 04, 2024, 08:20:59 PM
E be like say I de live under the rock for sometime because I just de hear dis "no gree" slang for di first time, anyway di phrase carry strong message say make we no gree for anything wey go set us back from achieving our dreams. Aldo e de important to gree for every positive things wey go come our way for this new year of 2024, because e go de good to de specify di things wey we no wan gree for. I no go fit to blame di originators of dis slang because last year wey be 2023, na very difficult year for naija, new government , fuel hike wey snowball into increments of goods and services, dollar pairing with naira reach im ATH, and di more wey naira de devalue na so di dollar ATH go de reach new heights. Inshort we no suppose gree for dis kind things. Di bitter truth be say make we de double our hustle so if fuel price reach 1k, make we follow afford am,  our government no send.
1496  Economy / Economics / Re: How influential is crypto worldwide? on: January 04, 2024, 11:53:13 AM
Another thing to put into perspective is that many of those.conoanies are over sixty years old now and Bitcoin which is the oldest cryptocurrency is 14 years.

Comparing both industries with very different launch times does not give any accurate suggestions.
I agree with you and this has shown that technology is fast growing because the adoption of cryptocurrency within the short period of time shows that it is a good asset and people believe in it and are always ready to adopt something new.

Bitcoin has grown more than expected in just 14yrs and that shows that it is worth investing in because of its value and potential compare to other asset like stock and bond.

The influence of Bitcoin has greatly increased since it was created 14 years ago, compered to other financial investments like stock and bonds, as you mentioned, which have been existing for many decades. In a very short period of time Bitcoin has been able to measure up as a valuable digital asset, that has the potential to take over and become the most profitable financial investment in the world. This is why it's adoption will continue to increase despite the bans and restrictions in some countries.
1497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich, average or poor. Who loses more? on: January 04, 2024, 11:10:09 AM
There is no standard to measure which class of gamblers loses more or profits more among rich, middle class, and poor gamblers. However, once the middle class and lower class lose in gambling, their mentality changes a lot because they don't have the courage to gamble again after losing a huge amount of money. But the elites do not become mentally broken even if they lose repeatedly in gambling but they do not hesitate to bet again to get profit even if they lose more than once. That's why the rich are more likely to profit from betting than the middle and lower classes.

I believe that the rich loses more in gambling than the middle class and the poor, because they most likely bet more than the lower classes, even when they eventually wins in bets, there's high chances that they'd already lost more money than The middle class and the poor. If you take a survey of these classes of gamblers you'd find out that the rich spends far more than the others, so the rich contributes more to the GDP of the gambling industry. Besides, the term "gamble the amount you can afford to loose" does not really apply to the rich because they can afford to loose a lot of money for fun.
1498  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone can succeed as a bitcoin trader on: January 04, 2024, 09:45:50 AM
...Knowing how to trade would only get you that far, but not j to the realm of successful traders. It takes a whole lot of desire to win, persistence and consistency to be a successful trader. So I assure that anyone who wants to be a successful trader can be by pursuing with passion...

This is all just theory, but in practice everything is completely different. And there are a very large number of traders who, after many years of unprofitable trading, decide to change their role to an investor. And for many, this is the right decision that allows you to earn a lot of money with minimal risk, which is still present when investing.

I also think that succeeding in Bitcoin trading goes beyond having a passion for it, although that is a starting point, because Bitcoin trading is hard in the practical aspect of it. So to be a successful trader requires having the needed experience to have a sound knowledge about how it's properly done, this includes understanding the fundermental and technical analysis, not being emotional, avoid being greedy and having the patience required to succeed. So any one can succeed in Bitcoin trading, but they need to put in the time and energy needed to aquire the knowledge to become successful traders.
1499  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The "Coalition of Terror" fell apart but US regime isn't giving up! on: January 04, 2024, 08:51:07 AM
It's no longer news that the united States is the brain behind all the conflicts and killings going on around the world, what they are actually doing now is they will refuse to address an issue that may result into conflicts, till when it has gone out of hand.
After that, they will start puring fuel into fire by sending weapons, instead of call for restrain.

I'll never support war or killings of innocent people because it's inhumane to target and kill people who have not done any wrong, wars unfortunately should be between trained personals and should have rules of engagement. I know that majority of nations depends on a few powerful nations to supply them killing machines, this is a normal trade, because nations map out a lot of money in their budgets to buy arms and amunitions to protect their territories, so without being biased in this evil trade which every nation participates in, US supplies Israel, with weapons for their forces to fight with, I think that is a normal waepon trade, just like everyother nations do. Perhaps Hamas, should also buy arms from other weapon manufacturing nations and protect their citizens, seeing that it's them that started the offensive in the first place. I'm by no means supporting Israel, if they're targeting Palestinian civilians as alleged.
1500  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What thread can earn newcomers merit on: January 04, 2024, 07:25:30 AM
We all know the beginning stage is not easy as a newcomer needs to be patient. Atleast he or she should be getting no matter how little some reward for their resources in terms of time and materials.
I joined the forum and all I told some people around me about it, the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date.

I empathize with you on what you're saying, most of us went through that stage of expecting our posts to be given merit when we feel that we've really put efforts to make quality posts, but the system doesn't really work that way, you'd have have to be consistent with quality posts and eventually the merit will start to come. However seeing that you're still new in the forum, merit should not be your main focus for now, you should rather concentrate on increasing your cryptocurrency knowledge, with time members will be rewarding your quality posts with merit. It's true that the merit system can not be said that it's fair, because despite the quality of your posts, if no member merits you, there's nothing you can do about it, if you quit it won't affect their campaign earnings. So it's best that you don't worry about getting merit now and try to learn and flow with the discussions
