14841  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC resale value on: July 07, 2013, 12:04:25 PM
At some point, the owners (guessing mostly dorms) of these electricity "free" residences will notice the higher utilities and crack down on it.

Dorms don't pay any attention to electricity.  Only way they would ever know is a staff member seeing a farm of gpu's.  And its highly unlikely most will have it against rules anytime soon.

Asic resale value is at a premium ATM.  Until they there are more on the market i predict they sell for higher then cost for a while.  Once more are on market it will drop dramatically, specifically some of the cheaper per GH ones.  Another advantage of GPU is they are not tied to coin value, if a big drop hits GPU's still most likely the same value on resell.

Just sent out an email. We have secured two additional early-may orders of Avalon ASIC chips. We now have 40,000 chips (all ordered before May 16) which are enough to process all the orders that we received during our pre-order opening. If we get the Avalon chips by the end of this month, we will ship out all the orders by Mid August.

On a separate note, the test board is hashing now. I will post pics/videos tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Maybe the video is going to be posted "tomorrow" as in one business day.  So looking forward to see it on monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

Yea..... Roll Eyes  keep up that wishful thinking.

GTX is not good for mining even at top level.

Just thinking.... out loud (and i don't want sued so this is not in any way a fact or more then a thought).    What if these updates they promise then don't ever do are just stall tactics for paypal to release the money to them and you miss the time where paypal has it frozen?
14845  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: July 06, 2013, 08:52:11 PM
No video today so far.   Yet had time to change FAQ on refunds.  Don't let your paypal protection run out!
14846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC will go to $15, $25 + on: July 06, 2013, 05:44:31 AM
There is no way it hits $10-$25 while bitcoin is hovering around $65
$10 was a definite possibility when btc was $100-130 but now...

Litecoin isn't pegged on BTC.

There's no reason why LTC won't rise with the fall of BTC.

The LTC/BTC ratio has been going up steadily.

you say that and yet ltc dropped to $1.9

Where are you trading at that got 1.9?
14847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Dwolla to where? on: July 06, 2013, 05:43:26 AM
Hello, a while back I threw some cash into Dwolla in hopes to invest in Bitcoin. I ended up holding off for a while and am now thinking that now is a good time to invest.  Previously I was planning on going from Dwolla to Mt. Gox, but wanted to confirm that this was still a wise thing to do. Is there a better place for me to trade? Thanks.

Still a wise thing to do.  If you think will make a jump up again perfect time.

I have no dog in this battle. But if he is in hospital it does get VERY expensive.  BUT they dont make you pay it then.  It goes as a debt owed to them (assuming your insurance does not cover).  Is reason he cant pay lost wages due to being in hospital or hospital expense?
14849  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Buying used GPU's? on: July 06, 2013, 05:32:03 AM
Truly get a new GPU.  The warranty is worth it unless you plan on water-cooling and breaking warranty or something.

Also with used GPU's you dont know how hard the card has been pushed and for how long.  Lots of unknowns.

The USB ASICs are actually becoming more of a bargain now, at $65 USD...

Are there any group buys going atm for this though?

BTW, isn't 50Mh/s a little hight for my GeForce GTX 460 ?

With any GeForce it will be a little light on hashing.  This site is great to get a idea of expected hashing numbers http://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison
14852  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone help me with litecoin mining ? on: July 06, 2013, 02:00:50 AM
Might try out guiminer.  It has a scrypt version.  Easy to use.

Re-posting tips for those doing paypal refunds:

Do dispute over item never recieved, as you never received item.
Keep it simple on dispute something i paid for product... never received.... what you did to contact TH. (DO NOT make accusations of fake or fraud or makes your claim that much harder to win)

Hope it works for you to!
14854  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: July 06, 2013, 01:13:13 AM
How long should one wait after requesting a refund before opening a PayPal dispute ?
Dumb question but in what fashion are starting the first cancellation request to TH? is it through the contact support tab, on website,,,or direct email through the: help@terrahash.com.....

Contact us -> create a ticket and pick refund.  Hope they answer.

Question to all those who need constant updates and affirmation:

Customer service is part of a SUCCESSFUL business.  Read my refund experience with TH.  Constant update.... no but a update when stated or tickets sent yes.

ASRock was able to send me a piece for my motherboard within a week, and it was a holiday week.  That is a example that will get repeat business from me.

My TH refund experience:

Started on approx June 24 late at night.

Finally got my refund today.  PAINFUL and HORRIBLE process with TH in my case.  Now that i got it i will post.

I had originally asked in a paypal dispute.  Did not know about ticket system for refunds. Note if you open a dispute it will automatically mark you as refunded on thier site this is not true!  Don't get false hope out of seeing it there, its automatic with a paypal dispute with their system.

After i read about ticket system on here, put in multiple tickets asking for help.  No response given in timely manner.  Turned into claim once paypal would let me. The claim triggered a response on one of my tickets. At this point finally got a response from TH they basically threatened me in email saying close claim or let paypal decide it.  They had no interest in working within paypal for my refund, only to get a claim closed against them (dispute they didn't care about it seemed only claim got any attention).

So at this point had claim opened.  Waiting for TH to respond within paypal with their side so paypal could judge case.  They never even responded, so had to wait till their timeline was over to submit their side.

Finally today was able to call paypal since TH's time had expired on responding.  Paypal ruled in my favor.  The money is on its way back and will be spent in another venture.

So final thoughts took me from June 24th to July 5th to get my money back.  Hope your refunds go easier then mine, and if not i feel your pain!

WOW,, thx for sharing the experience,, a little unnerving huh? so what do your recomend first,,file a cancel/refund request with TH, Then wait...and how long before opening dispute with PP?  OR file a dispute first with PP...clarify  Smiley especially on the close claim against them part?

If they will answer your ticket about refund i would do that.  It would be much less time.... if done right.   But that depends on if they answer you.  Kinda a personal decision on how much time to give them.  Keep in mind each day you give them is another day your paypal claim isnt going.  It adds up.

After opening dispute there is a minimum time of i believe 24 hours i believe to have dialog with TH within paypal before claim.  In my case there was no response so i suggest going from dispute to claim as soon as 24 hours expires unless you have better results.

Upon opening claim that was when TH finnaly cared and threat came.  DO NOT fall for email with threat if you get it and close claim, will only make you have to start over.  After getting claim open this was longest part waiting on response, since they never responded it takes time it shows a date they have until within paypal.

After time is over for them to respond, call paypal and talk nicely to them.  With any luck you will have a credit on its way after.

Tips for dispute:
Do dispute over item never recieved, as you never received item.
Keep it simple on dispute something i paid for product... never received.... what you did to contact TH. (DO NOT make accusations of fake or fraud or makes your claim that much harder to win)

Can someone ... who is more into this ... comment the picture ....

what do we see here, exactly?

For me ... it looks like they removed 12 chips and its still the same old board .... isn't ...it?

To me looks like same old board with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PICKit tool.  Not much details that i see as far as how far they are from hashing.
