Although you are Legendary rank, with your trust rating with so much RED, I am inclined to believe that you've got a newbie's private keys (and money), or you are trying to imply that. You are insulting me undeservedly. I did not touch money. At least you will not be able to prove it. I encourage you to look up words and terms not misleading readers. I did not say anything I cannot prove. I did not say you did anything. I said that I am inclined to believe you did. And I pointed out your trust rating, which is red, nothing special to prove there.

If something is taken, and the taker doesn't have permission to take it, then it is stolen.
OK, seems to me that OP stolen my private key and its address ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Should I prove that 12iocUthp58E72ZksRmToDFPfM1WCPKv91 belongs to me? ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Although you are Legendary rank, with your trust rating with so much RED, I am inclined to believe that you've got a newbie's private keys (and money), or you are trying to imply that.

I would sell my alts to BTC and I would sell 1 BTC for fiat. I'd keep the rest. And I'd retire.

Someone hacked my account and posted this.
Please put a message to the end and lock the thread, thank you.

I do not mind if some of them are seen as a bit risky. So long as there are not an obvious scam. I do not want to trade with a huge amount, so i would not mind to lose my "investment". You can throw some names at me and if you had some experience (bad or good) with them. I also do not mind if i end up with more then one exchange using.
I obviously don't know all the exchanges. I worked mostly with Poloniex and Bittrex. They have big volumes, but no ICO/small coins. The exchanges you may need are Yobit, Bleutrade, Cryptopia, Nova exchange and so on. But I have no experience with, I used them too rarely to tell much. They handle new coins, they handle ICOs, but they may have very low volumes too. I advise you to ask more opinions and also do some research by yourself too.

The bigger and most reputable altcoin exchanges don't really handle ICOs and wait until a coin is a little older to make sure they don't do business with scams.
So for your needs you will have to find a couple of smaller exchanges, but which are somewhat riskier too to work with. Not long ago (months?) there was a case of an exchange having a false ICO.

Thanks for your replies.
I am running Bitcoin-Qt on a mac that I have just recently installed so the possibility of Malware is small. The coins were transferred out the exact same second as they arrived, and before the transaction was confirmed, I did not think that was possible.
The attacker has your private key. Even your wallet knows you've got money in the second they've came in. It's not that difficult to code something similar and when the "money in" notification comes, the money is sent out by a script. It doesn't have to be on your computer. The attacker has your private key and can do all this on his own computer.

Whether it's infected or was in the past, clearly somebody else got OPs private key and transferred out those BTC. What the hell happened and where is my Bitcoin?
It was stolen. Sorry.

My wallet is unavailable. When I try to find it Multibit asks for file *.wallet . I can't find any file with the extention like that. When I try to load wallet.dat it doesn't go. I'm wondering what kind of virus did they use if my AVG Antivirus never found one.
I doubt they removed it, since it makes their activity easier to find out. I think that it was copied, and you may have done too much cleanup on your computer. The "standard" place the wallet is located is %AppData%\MultiBit\multibit.wallet , but it can be set and you can place it anywhere on your HDD. I still have emails what they sent me. It probably still has some IP addresses where in was sent from. Should I report to the police? Is bitcoin theft considered as a crime in the USA?
I doubt that the police will take you serious. In their book is like you'd cry somebody stole your pokemon. And recently a judge in US clearly ruled that BTC is not money.

I haven't been using my Miltibit client for a few months. Today I opened my client and see 0 balance. I know for sure that I have a few bitcoins in my wallet. I'm new in bitcions world and I'm not sure if I opened the right wallet. Can anybody help me with advice how can i find my bitcoins. Thank you very much.
If it's the multibit classic, then you could try tools -> reset blockchain and transactions. It may take a while to get back on track - a progress may be shown bottom-left. This does not affect your wallet, but the blockchain data recorded locally may have issues (or just be too old) and in some cases the reset does all you need. I just checked blockchain.info with my wallet address 1QDPkve6ChUT1MePvL6zThcViCpvBGvMog I haven't been using bitcoins since last October but under my address I saw a few new transaction done by somebody else. I might be mistaken but somebody emptied my wallet somehow and i have no clue how they did it. I still don't have access to my wallet i can see only blockchain.info Because I'm the only user of my computer they probably sent me a trojan virus in the email and stole my wallet.dat file. I remember receiving emails from Slushpool and sky-Hash. Looks like that's how they got virus into my computer. I have no idea how did they pick up my password. Probably it's a virus action. If blockchain shows you have 0.00018204 BTC in your wallet, Multibit cannot show more. It saddens me to see that more than 5 BTC were stolen from you (since that 2016-07-20 transaction I see is after last october). Please don't use that wallet anymore (don't put more BTC on it), if somebody else has the private key of it, he can move away your money anytime.

If a coin is mined via CPU only what set up will you recommend? Please give me all the details, specs, name of brand and also the price. Thank you very much.
CPU mining consumes more energy than the return of coins. This being said, if you really want to mine with CPU nowadays you clearly need one with AES-NI capabilities.

What should I buy: BTC or ETC?
If you are not sure, then don'y buy at all. Neither of them. Don't get advises from strangers, you don't know who is doing what on the market and what's his purpose. It's OK to ask, but after reading all the answers think for yourself and research. Good luck. PS. Since I believe that ETH/ETC is just a pump and dump asset, my answer is BTC.

|
|
Yep, coins that can be mined only by CPU are not so common and I think that there are plenty of people that would like to mine with CPU. It's an alternative to really think of.
