Do you really expect somebody owning 6700$ in BTC would care for 1.7$ prize?!

I have a paper wallet with less than 1BTC on it, but it's not worth the hassle for the 10 cents you'd give.

and the 10 cents may cause you lose your 6700$. lolz... becareful folks...

Signing a message doesn't make people lose money, unless maybe it's done from an extremely buggy client Smiley
But the meaningful way to keep bigger amount of Bitcoin is in cold storage or paper wallets. And that means extra hassle to sign a message. And the reward is way to small for any kind of hassle.
14922  Other / Off-topic / Re: BOUNTY: Crack this value, get bitcoin on: July 07, 2016, 01:40:53 PM
Huh, that is quite helpful.

I'm glad to hear that. When this ends, I don't mind a tip, I have 2 addresses in my profile. Cheesy
I'll keep thinking, maybe I get something more to get us closer; if I get anything new, I'll post.
14923  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcoin Hack on: July 06, 2016, 03:50:04 PM
I just generate a private key from a website

So you used a third party to generate your wallet's private key.
That's not a hack. That's simple and plain stealing. The website you used gave you the private key and also saved it for future use by the website owner.
And that can happen to whoever relies on 3rd party instead of proper local safe wallet.
14924  Other / Off-topic / Re: BOUNTY: Crack this value, get bitcoin on: July 06, 2016, 03:40:41 PM
From my understanding, after each "word", there's a number composed of 5 bytes. Imho, that number should not be read in hexa. I'll explain:
After the first group (COLOR) the number is 4, meaning the following are 4 bytes of color: 00, 99, 99, 99 (an ARGB color).
Then the next group tells CUE. The magic number is 12. If I'd convert it to hexa it would do wrong, but if I read it as decimal 12, then it matches: the next 12 bytes are the useful data 00 00 00 00 00 19 00 CC 00 00 00 00. Maybe the first 8 bytes are some Time (int64 time_t?) and the rest of 4 bytes are an ARGB black.

I hope it helps somebody...

Mining with laptop is a bad idea.
Laptops are not as resilient as desktops are and mining means you use heavily your GPU and/or CPU continuously day after day.
That may break your laptop sooner than you would like...
14926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in all alts on: July 06, 2016, 05:30:29 AM
First of all, there are too many alts. Way too many. You should deffinitely not invest in all, because most are dead or will die soon.

Then there are a couple of alts that may worth a look. But it's rather difficult to predict their movement and, while Bitcoin is considered a high risk investment, alts come with much greater risk.

Of course, if you pick the few really good ones, you can earn 10x maybe 100x. But if you don't you may just go bankrupt. Tough choice.

14928  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If prices crash after halving, what would you do? on: July 05, 2016, 07:44:44 PM
Everyone's excited for the halving event happening around July. Everyone's saving hoping that the price will skyrocket after it.

But what if prices crash down instead? what would you do?

I also think that we may be in the middle of a pump and the dump could come around halving.
I also hope that I'm wrong and the price will skyrocket.

If the price will fall... ohwell, it'll rise again, sooner or later.

I also got a payment but I don't know for sure which week is that for. I think that's for 3 weeks ago.

Good to see them coming. Thank you CoinsBank & Marco
14930  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you accept bitcoin as your salary? on: July 05, 2016, 03:12:47 PM
In Europe there is a hot new pertaining to a company whose going to introduce paying bitcoins to their employees. But given the instability of the bitcoins market value is it an advantage for the employees or an disadvantage. In my opinion this kind of payment for salary is not yet beneficial to employees not until bitcoins price has become stabled. Though if bitcoin will start to increase its monetary value it can be advantageuos but if not then it is a peril to the employees. So what do you think, what is your opinion on this matter?

If the salary is big enough, any legal way of payment is fine by me. Bitcoin would be just wow Smiley

And let's talk more about "big enough".
It has to be a few % bigger than the fiat salary, since the things we buy are bought with local currency and the conversion from BTC is not cheap.
Then there's the volatility, which works in both directions, so it's a risk. And - ask any insurer - the risks are not taken for free.

Could you all take a look and give me some feedback?

Thanks in advance!

You just make us impacient Smiley
When will POI4 actually start?

what will you do when you have no money or anything to get bitcoin? I know faucet, but I was not interested.
I also know the signature campaign, but it is not worth for currently, and I also do not have any skills? advice a good website to get bitcoin? or learn how to get a sklill so I could sell my skills?

Bitcoin is money.
What would you do for money? Well, you have to work in a way or another - online or offline, directly for Bitcoin or for your country's currency and exchange into Bitcoin.
Sorry if this sounds disappointing for you, but this is the reality.

I see a lot of people who can get bitcoin for free, so I do not have to work real and buy bitcoin.
maybe I should have started from small things like faucet, and increase my account to then be able to join the signature campaign

Faucets are basically a waste of time, since on the long term, especially if you are not careful, you'll pay that money as tx fee for your transaction, since it will become too big (too many inputs).
And imo going through that many faucets hour after hour to really get significant amounts of satoshi is work too.

Signature campaigns are a good choice, but, whether you know it or not, you have to have the skill of conversation (I don't have it, I basically just fill you with info) and you have to become helpful to others. Again, for "big bucks" you need to work hard (post a lot) and if your posts are just useless (spam) you'll get kicked out from signature campaigns. However, from what I see, this is the closest you can get to your goal.

The price jumped quite good too, so the hashrate may just go even higher. Unexpectedly higher....

Were at 700 on coinbase so fun to watch there.  There does appear to be some resistance at 700 suppose maybe some sell wall's.  But we fought through the 690's which was fun to watch.  In 24 hours going from high 670's to around 700 now is a good day.  If we can break through 700 a little way's will be a even better day.

I would love to see over 700 as new base, but even 700 as new base is still exciting.  I still love coindesk to watch http://www.coindesk.com/price/ .  Compare multiple sites and easy to use.

I'd also like 700 as a new base, but 670 looks much more likely. The 700 value was helped by the week-end. 670 is not that bad either...
I'm very curious what will happen at / after halving. Did many keep their BTC for a dump, or will people keep their money and the market will behave just as nothing happened (hmm)?
14935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best long term cold storage? on: July 02, 2016, 10:37:48 PM
Generate a paper wallet.

Make a rtf document with a lot of text. You can use some documentation for this purpose. Remove all the bold from it.
Set in bold here and there the characters that make your wallet's private key.

Put that document (maybe compressed with password - 7zip with sha) onto cloud, but not dropbox. Instead find a cloud that keeps the data encrypted (like tresorit does).

Complicated enough? Smiley

as a heads up  this is my main source of funds for the contest

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877765.msg15376673#msg15376673

so far it is 4 days late.

I will still run contest until august 1 -3    if this source dies.

So that would be 3 jumps
 July 4
 July 18
August 1

He has always paid me but once in a while he has been late.

While I agree that lately the payment problems come more and more often, I've had payments even more than one week late, but they came.
So I'm not worried, this contest will have funds for more than that Wink
14940  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why is there sudden rise in right wing extremist? on: June 28, 2016, 07:23:08 AM
As you can see the recent Brexit in england, trump in US and RSS in india , why is there sudden rise in right wing politics?

Imho it's the too many bad choices made by the politicians lately.

Let's see the picture before everything blew up: people had a pretty good life, pretty stable jobs mostly, some even grew pretty self-suficient to allow themselves to get .. lazy .. or to dream of 4h working day since the money was enough. Immigrants (especially from eastern countries) were not loved, but they were accepted.

Then Lehman Brothers & Co colaps came.

By far, the biggest mistake was to help out the banks after their colaps, using our money. People's life became harder. Internet and media showed the truth that bankers just got richer from this on our expense.
"Because banks are vital for economy" bullshit.

And when people's way of life degraded just enough that everybody feel it, the huge wave of immigrants came: different culture, different color, different smell and way cheaper workers. How would western people like that, really?!
I am from Eastern Europe and I know how we are seen by W. Europe because we can make a living with less money and we can "steal" their jobs. Now multiply that x1000.

In the eastern countries the governments made a lot of money cuts to cover ... basically the expenses cause by the banks bailout.

All in all, everybody grew angry against the "current" governments and all their possible allies. It happened that the "alternative" to be the right wing.

This was Europe. In US the banks' issue was even worse, people lost houses, jobs, .. the current candidates for President are worse than weak (I mean, The Lady and the Trump. Really? US has enough human material for better, although they have a long history of odd choices, Bush Jr being one living example).
