14941  Other / Meta / Re: How do I unfollow threads? on: February 12, 2020, 10:44:23 PM
I have two threads I would like to unfollow, they should no longer show up in "Show new replies to your posts.". But neither "Unwatch", nor deleting them from the Watchlist works. What can I do?
Not sure as I don't have an issue if I check or uncheck the box in additional options it works.

Are the Notify me of replies box and the watch this topic box empty?

To check please hit the edit button on your post.\\then click the additional options to the lower left

you should see those options.
14942  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: February 12, 2020, 05:37:36 PM
Right now no asic builder offers fast ship.  You need a reseller's gear.  The s17 pro  in malaysia is more then 1500 from a reseller.  I would argue a guy like you or citronick should buy 1 or 2  maybe even 3 to 5.  Depends on your available power and how many lessor units you have now.

Ie if you are clearing 160 usd a day  that is 4800 a month buying 3-5 s17pros from a reseller is okay.  Buying 20 s17pros is not.

If you are clearing 60usd a day that is 1800 a month buying 1-3 s17pros from a local reseller is okay buying 5-10 is not.

In both cases I am assuming you have spare power to add the gear.  I also assume your power is 4-6 cents.

If you are 1-3 cents You can play waiting game.

Heck I have 3 s9's  costing me 145 a month to run  they earn me 185-200 a month  I just let them mine and at the end of each month I decide if I will go pay host for a month more mining. So far they have been with the host for 16 months and made some profit each and every month.
14943  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: February 12, 2020, 03:42:26 PM
Yeah down by 6, up by 10, down by 10  just a lot of variance early on.

Meanwhile:

Coins are solid prices of:

 10,329  BTC     109.28 eh    16.32 cents a th
      469  BCH        4.84 eh    17.00 cents a th
      363  BSV         3.54 eh    16.35 cents a th

https://explorer.viawallet.com/halving

these are from link above:
BTC ˝ ing in 89 days
BCH ˝ ing in 55 days
BSV ˝ ing in 57 days

Like it or not  all three are needed to be looked at  to understand  diff numbers since all three use sha-256.
14944  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: February 12, 2020, 03:40:28 AM
We are now up 9%. A hot streak last 40 blocks smoked the blockchain.

Very interesting numbers.

90 blocks made in time of 100 💯 .

now 130 made in time of 123.

so 40 made in time of 23.

Many will call it luck I am inclined to think bitmain switched from high to low speed on all its bitdeer gear.

But what do I know.

Coins are way up over 10,200 maybe someone else turned on a ton of gear ⚙️
14945  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless on: February 12, 2020, 01:05:57 AM
Very well thought out.  Basically true only flaw missing is the reason governments are doing kyc is make work for new law enforcement government branches. (paranoid or what)    Same thing as full synching of ipad iphone imac itv  or android tablet pc.

Millennials and gen-x get vitimized via digital fraud a lot as they tend to trust the tech and don't realize  what a weasly scammer can do with it.  Older people  don't wantt the full connivence of being fully synched up as they fear  getting ripped off by it.

KYC  is needed for large money movers not little numbers.  But most of the world governments are still trying to make  the world into 2 groups the have and the have nots.  KYC  for any amount under 1000 usd is truly wrong

I would argue it is wrong for any amount under 100,000 usd value.  At certain wealth numbers it can be argued for since it would not create the demand for stolen info that 1000 or 500 limit does.

Some where I posted a list of btc addresses by value.  I will look for it.  Found it  and you can see setting the kyc at 100,000 usd means under 170,000  people need give kyc for all of bitcoin but setting kyc at 1,000  means over  3,300,000 would need kyc

So having that low level kyc threshold creates a lot of kyc info in a lot of places  only making more victims and more demand and more law enforcement.

I thought about it before but you would rather use a coinmixer because;
1. You will end up spending a lot in fees when doing an atomic swap. So carrying out 2 atomic swaps means losing more coins in fees not forgetting the exchange rates that are always set so that the DEXes can make some profit out of your trades.

2. Not convenient; Most atomic swaps have maximum limits for coins you want to exchange so imagine if someone wants to convert 20 BTC and the atomic swap has a limit of only 2 BTC per trade. Some even start asking for KYC (read changelly)  Grin

Verdict: Coin mixers are a cheaper option, much more convenient to use

Coin mining works pretty well to stay anonymous.

In Fact you can turn  a profit  doing it.

BTW  being anonymous paints a target  on the anonymous address.

don't you think  this info above is looked into by governments

certainly the info below in the 10 btc and above category is listed

by dollar value there are 155,000 addresses over 100,000usd  about the same as over 10btc since a coin is now around 9800  don't you think that list is given to irs etc  especially if they find ones they don't know the owner to.

So the whole idea of anonymous is kind of dead here.  What do you want to do the op idea or  coinmixer  if they result in a newly minted unidentifiable  address most governments will say cost basis is zero and the day the new address is made  is your profit.

Ie a make a 10 coin address today with any method  USA will say it is worth 98000  and since it can't be identified as of today I should report it as 98000 profit for 2020 taxes.

If I don't and I hodl it to 2025 finally cashing it in  lets pretend it is worth 200,000

I will have tax penalties since I did not report the 98,000 in 2020.  So if I want to hide coins I need to have a country to live in that does not tax coins.

But if I have a country to live in that does not tax my coins  why hide them. Since they are not subject to tax  I can show them in an unhidden address.

So effectively you have hidden money with a target painted on it.
14946  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [D-8] Bitcoin is getting 3 major upgrades - Schnorr, Taproot and Tapscript on: February 11, 2020, 08:01:21 PM
I look at crypto from multiple angles.

Think of crypto as presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

Think of banks as presidential candidate Micheal Bloomberg.

New school vs Old school 🏫.

These ideas 💡 look to make crypto much more like money 💵.

I see lots of roadblocks tossed at BTC .

New York state made very strict rules against pools.  Forcing a major pool based in New York to close.

Maybe someone can confirm if it was  btc guild.

USA government made every coin to to coin  trade a reportable tax event.

Other countries followed suit.

I don’t think these ideas to make Btc more flexible to move around are bad.

I think they will make old money old idea guys nervous.

kind of like oil vs solar.
14947  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is back with a bang. on: February 11, 2020, 07:44:05 PM
everyone will think in bright side for 20K 25K 30K 100K who know this year how much price going.

but i know one think  price will not turn back to 3k like last year.

There's no reason the price wouldn't just go back to 3k. Don't just jump into the hypetrain.

We don't have enough adoption and usability yet. We may see crashes and starts for another decade and go nowhere until things really blow up. So don't just assume that bitcoin is a magic money making machine for you, nothing is.

Bitmain
Innosilicon
Canaan

are three reasons for price support above 10,000 usd

also Tsmc chip foundry along with  samsung chip foundry.

Finally Microbit a fourth asic builder.

These companies all want price of coins above 10,000.
Need I mention the 300 megawatt farm recently built in Canada.

Now does this mean you are wrong and price will never drop to 3000 usd?

No it means $3000 price this year is very unlikely as compared to 13,000 price this year.
14948  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 253 blocks solved! on: February 11, 2020, 03:01:08 PM
Hi guys,

i have one question Wink

at 100% luck i need  diff x 2^32 shares to find a block, right?

so if i want to see when i am at 100% luck i have to set my miner diff to 2^32 (4.294.967.296)
so if my shares at that diff reache the network diff i'm at 100%.

Is that correct?

No

You are assuming you will get the proper amount of large share that show.

you are better off with a diff share setting of 1,000,000

not the high one you want.  It is more likely that you will get the proper distribution of shares if you use a diff like 1,000,000
14949  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are there needed general (common sense) rules for signature campaigns? on: February 11, 2020, 02:54:59 PM
So I read both posts.

To op if all your rules are followed it will allow spam signature farms to make template that will enable them to write a shit ton of posts .

So it is not feasible to do that.

rule 8 burst posting needs a definition yeah it does needs one.

The other seven need to be more random.

Just my opinion.

I do think you have some valid points and gave a merit. Making you a senior member. You will need to keep posting to make senior but you now have the merits needed.

INNOSILICON T2T-30T BTC Miner
Shipping is expected to start from Feb.14, 2020. First paid, first served!

Notice: Due to the coronavirus disease, the logistics and transportation are affected to some extent. Delivery will be arranged based on actual situation, and shall be subjected to our official website.

Not sure what  caused the drop to +0.5%.

Yeah I will need some snacking items for the next few months.

Since I do keto  here are my 2 choices.

https://nuts.com/nuts/almonds/roasted-no-salt.html

a nice 5 lb bag of them along with

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HJNSG1M

an eight pack of the above.

I am still waiting for my next move on purchasing gear.  Not sure what I should do other then getting s17pros I don't know what price point to buy them at.
14951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Newest biggest baddest threadripper for sale on newegg on: February 11, 2020, 02:21:22 AM
It's a good thing the cache is 256 MB. With only 4 memory channels to serve
128 threads it's best to avoid main memory.

I wonder how Intel will respoond, they currently have nothing to compete with TR.

It is really pricey.  I may look into getting the lessor 3760x  at 1399 thats costly but it is not selling out.

I think  the entire line of 3rd gen are overpriced.  I will wait a bit before I build one.

I have 3x  ryzen 9 3900x builds  far less cost for all 3 combined when compared to a single  3990x build.

14952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does Monero Have a Serious Centralized Mining Problem? on: February 11, 2020, 02:17:21 AM
Right now, just 2 mining pools control over 60% of Monero’s network hashrate, but just how serious is this problem? What do you think, guys?

Depends  if you mine and dump monero to btc  you don't really care about a 51% attack.

But if you mine and hodl  there is additional risk due to that much hash on only 2 pools.
14953  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: February 11, 2020, 12:44:41 AM
Dropped to 9750 or so and diff dropped to almost zero.

Have to say a close at  +.5 to -0.5  would be nice.

Would also like to see price drift to 8800-9100  and next jump  have another low drop or rise.

A lot matters with price right now

look at diff pattern  do we string a nice flat   rectangle or go upwards there are five easy to see patterns in the diff over last  18-25 months.

14954  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: innosilicon t3h 50t s1 hardware fault? on: February 10, 2020, 09:07:10 PM
i wrote more.  bottom line is you cant know for sure unless you have a good unit and swap parts.

if you only have 1 unit.

if you have 210-240 volts.

pull two boards test one board in all three spots on low.

test each and every board this way.

that is nine tests.

if it all fails and you live in the 🇺🇸 usa 🇺🇸  you can ship the unit to me .  i have a fully working unit.  i can test your parts by swapping them into my miner.
14955  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: innosilicon t3h 50t s1 hardware fault? on: February 10, 2020, 08:54:14 PM
you need 210-240 volts for the psu.

try going to autotune and set to low speed say eco or eco+

see if it will work on low speed setting.

if you have low speed set and you have a good pool and 210-240 volts.

psu should fire the boards up.

sometimes psu is weak and the low speed setting works.

other ways to trouble shoot pull one board put it aside and run two boards on low speed.

if it works try balanced speed.
if it works try factory speed.

if it does not work pull second board.

run 1 board on eco
if it works run on balanced
if it works run on factory.

if one board does not work try second empty control cable.
does not work tried third empty control cable.

if all that does not work pull the board put it aside.  repeat with next board.

you may still be dead.

put it aside go to third board.

if each and every board fails when used singlehanded.  you cant test much more.
14956  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: February 10, 2020, 05:15:22 PM
Every bit's appreciated, but we really need more like 2EH.

So 2 blocks in one week with (less than) 2PH and then even less than 1PH... or am I wrong? At least that's what https://miningpoolstats.stream/bitcoin reported anyway...

BTW my recent observations on multiple pools reveal a completely different/opposite picture than the popular opinion goes. Looks like smaller pools with fewer competing miners improve the overall pool efficiency, I guess it could be due to small pools by design/usage "relieve" the inevitable technical bottlenecks any large pool has. Just an intuitive guess of mine.

certainly looks to be a reporting error on someones part.

blockchain.info has that block at unknown not ckpool
14957  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: February 10, 2020, 04:38:17 AM
water from a garden hose and some dawn in a bucket of warm water 💦.

a few rub with an old wet tee shirt of soapy dawn water then rinse with the hose..

I then blow dry with a hair dryer. our miners are in a large ware house with multiple trucks that come into the warehouse seven days a week to pick up and distribute food.

we get a black grime that needs dawn to clean it.
14958  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: February 10, 2020, 02:39:24 AM
a suggestion is get washable air filters.  other then that i truly like your setup.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013QYB3W

you can find them for less then the one above.

we have about 12 for our setup.
14959  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [society] paying taxes on: February 10, 2020, 01:12:25 AM
a solution to cnuts problem would be simple.

say a $10k tax.. $5k is automated as goverment decided funding to split how they like and $5k then is decided by the citizens

im not suggesting for my idea to be implemented i was more thinking idea's that are actually possible with todays tech to allow 'voters' more control over government funded stuff. rather than just being used as electoral pawns once every 4-5 years

i also wanted to see a few examples of what people truly feel is their main priority of treasury funds.

would be nice but i wont see it in my lifetime.

Hey there! I have a couple orders from Bitmain that went into “ship” status for few days but nothing happens. Is because of the Chinese New Year, Coronavirus...? What do you think?

Also, do you have orders in place that are actually shipping?

Thanks in advance!

I think bitmain shipping is being held until at least Monday the 10th due to an extended new year holiday. (due to the cornavirus)
