if i where you id start with 1THs work out the bugs so everything works smooth then move the rest over to solo. you do risk going a few days with no blocks at all but thats tge risk with solo mining. a big must is make sure your bitcoin client thats linked to the solo mining has a rock solid connection to the network
I agree with this. Solo is a longshot and you don't want to give up your guaranteed earnings from pools. At the most do half of your hashing power for solo starting out till you get the hang of it. Triplemining has about your hashrate at 6000 GH/s @ https://www.triplemining.com/stats and you can see how often they solve blocks. ~1 every 5 days, but sometimes even longer. One block took over 500 hours.

Ok so I'm building a litecoin GPU rig and seem to have everything setup correctly, however when I type ./cgminer -n I get: Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped)
I'm using HD 5850 GPU Ubuntu 12.04 CGMiner 2.9.3 ATI proprietary drivers APP SDK 2.9 ADL SDK 6.0
CGMiner shows my card, temps, GPU mining enabled ok, but when I go to mine I get the Segfault error.
Any ideas?

I have followed every step on: http://www.distrogeeks.com/install-cgminer-latest-ubuntu/And my GPU and Temperature shows up when I type: sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --odgt Adapter 0 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series Sensor 0: Temperature - 28.00 C Does anyone have any ideas how to configure CGminer correctly?

I'm using cgminer and I get that output above when I type the command ./automake.sh

Having some trouble getting my 5850 configured with CGMiner and Ubuntu.
I installed the latest Catalyst drivers, AMD APP and moved the ADL-SDK files to cgminer, but when I go to configure cgminer I get:

So a month ago it was difficult to find a decent Asic for sale on Ebay, and within the past week more and more are being listed.
Jalepenos, Blades, Avalons you name it. Must not be as profitable to mine anymore time to cash out.

It's very possible. If you are desperate for cash and the highest amount you can get is $100 then you will sell your coins.

If we agree that I will trade you a random physical Price Tag from a store with numbers on it for a Candy Bar does that make the Price Tag a currency? If we are trading the item for your item?
Your comparison of Bitcoin to a price tag is a poor one to be honest. But, in answer to your question: Yes, if everyone is trading price tags for the things that they want, prices tags are a currency. Like I said, if a currency is something you trade with then everything is a currency...

My opinion is Bitcion is not a stock or a currency. It's a digital commodity like mp3s and graphics. You are paying for some numbers in a text file. People want to have a Bitcoin so they pay for it. It's a trend like elmos and beanie babies.
People say Bitcoin is a currency because it's numbers and you are buying things. There is no difference between Bitcoin and a Price Tag on an item. The Price Tag says how much an item is worth like Bitcoin.
If we agree that I will trade you a random physical Price Tag from a store with numbers on it for a Candy Bar does that make the Price Tag a currency? If we are trading the item for your item?
If I pay you 1 Bitcoin to mow my lawn then I am trading my Digital Commodity for your service. In this case, Bitcion IS the Price Tag and that's what makes its value.

People aren't going to let it go below $300 imo. Before the huge spike I was predicting $220 as the low, but there's too many people buying $500+ coins.
|
|
|
Who cares what price Bitcoin is at? If you bought a Coin you should be happy you have one. No one is forcing you to sell at $300...
