1501  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-27] South Africa President’s Son Wears Bitcoin Socks on: May 29, 2019, 08:42:22 PM
Wow is nice to heard wearing bitcoin sock bitcoin hat etc. of the president of south after that is sign he is proud to show in th world bitcoin is helpful for their country ecomic growth.

He's thankful for his country's economical growth? What growth?

These leeches have done more harm than good and still suck up money that should have been invested in education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc. It's not for nothing that the economies of African countries are just a pile of rubbish, and as long as the corrupt government elites care more about themselves than their country, this will continue.

I hope that the thing they 'promote' by wearing socks of it will suck up their power and give it back to the people.
1502  Economy / Economics / Re: Problems In Chinas Economy & Escalating Trade War Will Cause Large Bitcoin Rally on: May 29, 2019, 11:38:10 AM
This is how we will be getting our value increase while supply keeps decreasing for bitcoin to become a stable coin that can now be used for store of value.

Being a store of value is the best feature Bitcoin can offer, and at the same time one that attracts the highest possible market cap in the long run. Gold is the perfect example of that. Its currency aspect is poor, has little industrial utility because it's so expensive, and it's hard to move from one place to another fast, but still it has a market cap of $8 trillion. Bitcoin does almost everything better. Smiley

I already noticed how people around me start asking question about how high Bitcoin will increase and what the best allocation of their wealth is to convert to Bitcoin. I'm pointing out that the price will increase as time goes by, but that they shouldn't focus on exact price levels, because the most important thing is to have wealth stored outside the banking system that keeps gaining value, and it's a solid hedge against fiat.

The mad gains are just a bonus for being early. It shouldn't be the goal in and of itself.
1503  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10000 is just around the corner it seems. on: May 29, 2019, 10:21:32 AM
Bulls are certainly just as strong, shorts are also not growing almost at all, bears are scared and rightly so, it's quite crazy to short right now, 9k is around the corner and 10k might be too. Hopefully it doesn't happen too fast either, a steady growth is far better than FOMO'd growth.
The shorts not accumulating all that much doesn't surprise me at all with how shorters have been brutally executed from $5000 all the way to where we are right now. I had to close my unprofitable short as well, and I'm glad that I closed it before we reached $8000 so at least I did something right.  Cheesy

Hopefully it doesn't happen too fast either, a steady growth is far better than FOMO'd growth.
Steady growth is always better, but it's not up to us to decide the rate of growth. This run gave people finally something to be happy about after a long year of only price decreases. It also helps nocoiners on the retail side gain more confidende to eventually pull that trigger, because lets not forget, they only buy what goes up.
1504  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin jump to 8500USD, will it hit 10k this week on: May 29, 2019, 09:46:33 AM
the achievements currently achieved by bitcoin are not easy, although the increase is very good, but to reach 10k this week I think it will be difficult.

The way the price went up it certainly looked easy, especially with how there wasn't much resistance on the way up. I actually expected the journey towards $6000 to be slow and for moon boys very painful, but it seems that the moonboys were more right than the conservative perma bulls like I consider myself to be.

The only certainty we have is that in Bitcoin there has always been a pullback, the only thing we don't know is when it starts and where it ends. We could just as easily pump over $10,000 and bottom out somewhere around the $6000 level, which would still be a massive pullback, and at the same time a massive increase from last year's lows.
1505  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-27]Franck Muller Releases Luxury Watch With Bitcoin Cold Wallet Functio on: May 28, 2019, 01:26:57 PM
What a marketing gimmick, an overly expensive watch with a public key engraved......

This can't be considered a cold wallet at all, very misleading. It comes paired with a private key on a USB stick, which means that the USB stick is the cold wallet, not the watch.

If you want top notch noob friendly security, just buy a sub $200 hardware wallet, or even a simple one for less than $100 in case of a Ledger. If you aim at something more exclusive and collectible, go for a loaded Casascius physical coin. Way more bang for your buck right there, and it keeps increasing in value over time.
1506  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which Mixer is getting axed next? on: May 28, 2019, 12:33:30 PM

@op Im waiting for chipmixer to to get axed soon.
Lol... Shocked

I know it's hard getting into that campaign, right? Apart from that, is there any reason for wanting them shutdown?

Spot on.

It makes zero sense other than someone being salty about not being able to participate in the campaign to trash one of the most important services in the space. Based on that, it's probably safe to say that he isn't a Bitcoin user at all, just a leech.

Nothing is more important than privacy in this space. If you can't mix your coins, then you can just as easily hand over all your data to the government and services you use directly. In that regard, I hope that all these shutdowns have made existing mixers more aware of the risks, therefore up their standards and go even more underground where possible.
1507  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Worst Online Crypto Wallet Ever! [Poll] on: May 28, 2019, 12:23:36 PM
i'm not sure when but apparently they added a separate option for advanced users to customize fees but i don't think most people know about or use it

Pretty convenient for blockchain.com to make it look like a high mountain to climb for noobs. It doesn't require much coding work to pop up a slider where people can choose a fee based on what they consider a fair price for their priority. As if 'advanced' users use blockchain.com, lol. They use clients such as Electrum or GreenWallet. Not this garbage.

The good thing about blockchain.com not supporting Segwit is that it will end up empty due to the increasing legacy fees, because people will then be forced to use other services or wallets. The problem will solve itself with time.
1508  Economy / Economics / Re: The Continuous Printing of Money on: May 27, 2019, 11:28:06 PM
I can tell that a moment will come where the Venezuelan will cry out loud and will regret its decision of printing more money from a central bank. I don't really understand or are they lacking financial and economic education?
I think it's a combination of ignorance in the economics field, and greed. Some governments choose the easiest way out, which is to keep printing money to fill up gaps, but with how poorly lead their economies are, there are too many gaps to fill. For every gap you fill there are a few other gaps that also need to be filled, and this endless cycle will absolutely trash the value of your fiat currency.

It's like you are trying to fill up a bucket with water while there is a hole in the bottom of the bucket. No matter how often you try to fill the bucket, it always ends up empty.

I can also tell that there will be a moment where the people will blame themselves by not going to school and take education.
The situation there is hard to fathom for most westerners. These people have different priorities due to the poor circumstances they live in. Their main priority is to have food on the table, which requires even the youngest in the family to collect plastic or paper to earn a few bucks.
1509  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10000 is just around the corner it seems. on: May 27, 2019, 10:51:44 PM
However, it's typical to expect more dumpers after sudden rise will happen so we must be careful on our every decision.

For every dumper there is a buyer, and so far every major dump has been bought up pretty quickly.

I expected some sort of a correction too, but we haven't had much of that at all, which is more an indication how strong the bulls are. This bull run reminds me of what we went through in 2017. Every top that people called wasn't a top but a great entry point with how the price kept rushing further. This is exactly why I stopped shorting/selling. I'm not going to watch the price go up and feel somewhat bad about having sold. Hodl that shit.

If the price tanks anyway and goes low enough, I'll happily use that as an opportunity to buy back my coins.
1510  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your BITCOIN price prediction this year? on: May 27, 2019, 10:30:30 PM
My target was $6000 and the price has gone well beyond that, so I am satisfied. In the short term I have no new targets, no further expectations, I'll just watch the price do whatever it's going to do.

At this point it's only worthwhile to be excited if the price goes to the $100,000 level, because let's be honest, what's so special about doing a 100% increase from where we are today? When the price was $100 we were talking about $1000. When the price was $1000 we were talking about $10,000. Currently we're close to $10,000 and $100,000 is the next target.
1511  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Craig Wright on: May 27, 2019, 08:47:47 PM
They need to drag Roger too. As far as I know Craig is making moves to take bitcoin(dot)com, this is scary and pleasant as the same time. If he succeeds, we'll be getting rid off Roger for good but will have to deal with Craig but since he is ridiculous beyond imagination he won't be able to cause much harm.

The bad part is, if he manages to take bitcoin(dot)com from Roger, he sure can take .org domain and anything related to bitcoin as well.

I just want 3 of them to fight forever in a pool of mud.

They are already attacking Roger and Jihan by attacking the BCash network with attempted double spend attacks, mining empty to near empty blocks and other cheats. Recently Jihan and his fellow minion had to 51% attack their own chain in order to undo the damage caused by a rogue miner.

I doubt Craig has even a remote chance to take any domain. If it was so easy for one single scammer to troll Bitcoin so hard, then imagine what would happen if governments start doing it.

In the end, I'm glad that Bitcoin is much stronger than a few domains. The whitepaper doesn't even matter anymore. The economy has chosen Bitcoin and rejected the other scams.
1512  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Craig Wright on: May 27, 2019, 08:12:53 PM
I am not liking the antics of Craig Wright in any shape or form but he already claimed that he has registered the bitcoin.org domain through his credit card and if that is true i am not sure what to take of that situation, if he has the balls to register the copyright claim, the fines might not be that big but the tag of being a fraudster will be set in stone if that were mere lies. The drama will continue as long as someone will sign the genesis block.

Craig can claim as much as he wants. It's clear by now that if Craig was satoshi, he would have signed from the address containing the genesis block reward back in 2015/2016.

I'm much more looking forward to the day Craig and Calvin start suing each other. Both have huge egos, and one day they will collide with a fight as result.
1513  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-26] Bitcoin May Be Entering 2-3 Bull Market Now, Morgan Creek CEO Says on: May 27, 2019, 07:27:20 PM
The impact of the entrance of the so-called institutional money can soon be felt in the bitcoin market and in my opinion this is huge and can even be the main factor for the continuing rise of the price of bitcoin. I am predicting that next year is the year when this part of the market will really boom and explode pushing bitcoin to the "moon".

Institutions are here already. Institutions like Fidelity are setting up the infrastructure so that they can sell coins to their clients.

Most of the buying that we have seen in the last couple of months were very likely institutions taking positions in this market, which focused mainly on Bitcoin. If it were the retailers and shitty crypto funds, the market as a whole would move up simultaneously where altcoins as always went up twice as hard, which they haven't really been doing lately.

I'm sure that when we smash through $20,000 people will still be like; they're coming.  Cheesy
1514  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-24] LocalBitcoins Bans Bitcoin Buying in Iran on: May 27, 2019, 07:01:31 PM
From my experience, LocalBitcoins is not the best place you can buy or sell BTC, so, I guess, Iranians are not losing much in that regard.

I'm certain there are local marketplace sites there generating just as much or even more traffic than LBC does for Iranians, and now LBC is no longer serving Iranians, it allows the market there to become even stronger because when one large player exits, multiple pop up trying to fill up its gap. In that regard, they helped the Iranian market instead of crippling it.

All these measures help markets to go more local than ever before, so we should be happy with these developments.
1515  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance hacked. 7000 BTC stolen. on: May 26, 2019, 10:55:35 PM
It's already taken care of, but there are gossips that it's just a publicity stunt for their outcoming DEX but as long as they can keep the funds safe and secure investor's funds, they can do what ever media stunt that they want, they are the number one and their coin is doing great in the market, this is a great feat for the team.

People are messed up.

Nothing of what Binance has gone through made it look like they are doing this as PR stunt to boost their DEX, which isn't even a true DEX. Binance losing 7000BTC is negative marketing for the exchange, not the other way around. On top of that, Binance doesn't need such pathetic moves to generate publicity for their DEX. Everything that Binance touches turns into Gold.

People see ghosts where there aren't any. The only thing I do find unfortunate is that CZ for a moment thought about a re-org, but other than that, he has done plenty of communication through Twitter, which is always a good thing. Other exchanges that were hacked released just one statement/update per day, which is something they should improve since communication with users is the most important thing in such a situation.
1516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Triangle breakout on: May 26, 2019, 10:03:23 PM
I'm happy that I stopped shorting and got rid of my open short that would otherwise get liquidated.

My mid term target is that the market will top out just under the $10,000 level, correct to $6000, then consolidate, then later attempt to break that $10,000 level again.

As for the altcoins, it has been a horrible year so far in terms of BTC value. XRP lost 50% of its BTC value, and so are there more coins with similar losses. I expect this to continue until Bitcoin shows signs of weakness, and that may be when altcoins will start to regain in BTC terms. In fiat terms most of the altcoins did okay to well, but Bitcoin as big dog and hard to move crypto has been one of the best performers so far, which is quite nice for a difference.
1517  Economy / Speculation / Re: Long term advance notice! on: May 26, 2019, 09:40:31 PM
CSW is a meme. I read through his posts just for entertainment purposes.

Nothing of what he has said in the last two or so years has been followed up by actions. I honestly would love to see all these big block fuckers to unload their coins if they have any left, but they may already have done so with little to no effect. All they are left with are empty threats and an infinite amount of lies. They already forked off, now they need to fuck off.
1518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Traditional Payment Processors on: May 26, 2019, 09:26:40 PM
Despite this, there will be many forms of payment (as you've said earlier). This means, that aside from Bitcoin, we'll continue to experience a world where people deal with Fiat, Gold, and other means. Hence, Bitcoin or crypto cannot be the only solution to everything in the world of finance. Just my thoughts Grin

The more payment options people have tho choose from, the more freedom they enjoy and the less likely it is that they can be excluded from participation in an economy.

I'm perfectly fine with Bitcoin being just an alternative to fiat. In the end, you don't want Bitcoin at this stage to be a fierce competitor to fiat, and as long as Bitcoin isn't that, governments won't consider it a threat and therefore not go in full ban mode. People can say that you can't ban Bitcoin, but it's better to not have governments ban Bitcoin to begin with, because it does significantly slow down adoption if it happens on a larger scale.

Let Bitcoin enjoy this easy ride and gain ground on a daily basis. What more can we wish for?  Smiley
1519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: --< Building your future on the price of Bitcoin >-- on: May 26, 2019, 09:00:45 PM
Ps. Also remember to spend at least 20% of all the coins you buy, to feed the merchant network and use case for Bitcoin, or it will die as a currency.

Meh. I'm not going to force myself to spend Bitcoin just for the sake of spending it. I use what I consider to be the best option, which one day might be fiat, and the other day Bitcoin.

I would however be more motivated to spend through Lightning considering that it offers more privacy than on-chain payments. On-chain payments require me to first mix them, which isn't a problem doing so from time to time, but not really pratical for use on a daily basis. Lightning makes life way more easy in that aspect, and it's more convenient than any other centralized payment option. The only downside is that it doesn't have as much adoption (yet).
1520  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-05-24] Lightning App for Sending BTC Tips on Twitter Is Now Easier to use on: May 26, 2019, 07:58:43 PM
Tippin has done a lot to make LN popular, respect for that.

Tippin is definitely cool to play around with, but it seems that this is an application with a shelf life due to Twitter eventually integrating Lightning itself.

It would be better if they roll out support for more platforms in order to secure their future, or they just hope that whatever crypto business ends up acquiring them for a big fat stack of coins. I wouldn't mind seeing them roll out support for Reddit, which I spend a lot of time on reading nowadays. Aside from the memes there is a decent bit of productive discussions going on there.
