1501  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How diverse is your crypto portfolio? on: December 24, 2023, 08:23:21 AM
It's good to diversify in cryptocurrency, because there are many options to choose from, only you'd have to do your investigations about any coin that you intend to put your hard earned money into. Despite the many cryptocurrencies in the crypto market, I have very limited options to choose from, the number one is their undeniable king, Bitcoin, then top altcoins like Ethereum, never new projects, despite their huge promises of ROI on a short term. Maybe I'll diversify into new projects one day, but I'd have to tell myself the truth that I'm gambling my money.
1502  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Neural implants on: December 24, 2023, 08:01:11 AM
I agree but if everyone started using the implants don't you think people who don't necessarily want to use them would be forced to get them to be able to keep up with the next evolution of humans

I guess there will always be some kind of pressure to follow the herd & conform to what others do. I won’t be using them, certainly not until a significant time has passed & I can pass judgement on how sate they are.

If you asked me, I would personally not use it, it would feel too crept out because  of the possible control a private company or government could have over my thoughts. If the future gets too authoritarian it could even be used as an device to imprison people for the sole fact of thinking something which they were not supposed to. No thank you, I am already crept out over how smart-phones currently function and gather information about us, I do not need more of it.

I'm certainly with you on this, I will not like to complicate myself with a technology that we don't know what it's implications will be in the future, hopefully I grow old in sound health, I'll not be needing to experiment my mind with something that an external control can use manipulate me. Neural implants can be useful for people who have serious and life threatening medical conditions, where their only chance of survival is having an implant, it think that it should only be used for such cases.

I sympathize with OP that said that he sometimes experience memory lose, I hope it doesn't degenerate to the level of needing neural implant, but if that's what it'll to retain your memory, then there's no choice but to go for it. Although I'll advise him to carry out a thorough research before considering it as an option, because I just don't have a good feeling about it.
1503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A piece of advise to everyone. on: December 24, 2023, 07:10:54 AM
This is a discussion forum and I think that meaningful arguments can help to make us to see points from different perspectives, if we feel like somebody's points are misleading and we come out to correct the person, perhaps the person can present argument in a civil manner to prove their point. What really matters is matured argument where in the end a win win situation will be reached, and everybody in the thread will gain more knowledgeable from two perspectives. If maturity in the use of language is applied, then the argument is based on two different ways of seeing an issue, in the end we can apply one of the perspectives as an alternative option. But if an argument is baseless where a member is bent on having the upper hand in an argument, then it's best to simply ignore such comments and move on, we shouldn't let negative people's remarks to weigh us down.
1504  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CBN lifts ban on cryptocurrency transactions on: December 24, 2023, 06:23:12 AM
Already despite the ban on cryptocurrency in the country, the government is still aware that their are individuals that are still involved in crypto related transactions so I just feel that this ban they've lifted is just so that they can also have their own share from the dividends that crypto enthusiasts within the country gets from crypto projects and other crypto engagements so inasmuch as it is a good news that the ban has been officially lifted I also see it as an avenue for the government to officially intrude into the system so "nothing goes for nothing".

You hit the nail for the head, as you talk am na so me I reason am, our government know say di cryptocurrency transactions wey de happen for di county de on di high side, and as CBN ban banks to de facilitate transactions, na im be say dem give chance for huge financial transactions to de happen without collecting dem own share.  Now wey CBN don lift di ban, na regulation go follow, dem go come introduce taxation for crypto matters now. So di ban wey dem lift na for dem own  benefits, because na now dem open eyes see say Bitcoin, na real source of income generation for dem purse.

Na very good news be dis because e go change di perceptions of many Nigerians wey think say Bitcoin de illegal for di country, and e go reduce or hopefully stop di harassment of law enforcement personals wey de harrass young guys wey say dem de trade Bitcoin. People go come understand say Bitcoin business no be scam, na genuine business e be.
1505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana Leapfrogs XRP as Fifth-Largest Crypto on: December 24, 2023, 05:28:11 AM

According to some news I read on Solana website it states one of the reasons for pump is as a result of Shopify adding SOL as a payment method in there cryptocurrencies acceptances. This has brought alot of increase on SOL transactions, it's a very big moment for its investors and the trading volume might hit 40% soon.

I congratulate investors that kept their faith in Solana, and those that had the crystal ball to see that Solana, will bounce back by putting their money in it at a time when it was presumed that it was dying. This should be a lesson for investors to take advantage of buying any top altcoin that is in bear run or presumed to be worthless, because  probability is that it can make a surprise comeback to regain lost glory and being very profitable again, like in the case of Solana.

Team innovations is another thing that can revive a coin that has dipped to rock bottom, example is the Solana, deal with Shopify, that added them as a crypto payment, I hear this is one of the big drivers to their comeback. I hope they keep coming up with milestone ideas to remain in the top altcoins division.
1506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dascoin Big Scam on: December 23, 2023, 10:33:57 PM
Who else invested in Dascoin which some scammers promoted as the next Bitcoin Grin Grin Grin . I was stupid to accept their lies those days. I am new to Crypto I had no idea

Your story is no different from the ones of many forum members who have fallen for these scam projects that promises to give you 100× ROI, but they never live up to their promises. I'm glad that you've learned your lesson to beware of new projects that have not been tested in the cryptocurrency market, I was shocked when I learned about the number of shitcoins that are created everyday, it's a free market, so you'll except the good and the bad to be coming up with their own coins. I always advice to stick to Bitcoin and top altcoins, no matter how the market trends, they'll always remain relevant and profitable. Investing in new altcoins is a gamble, what you see is what you get, most times it's loses than profits.
1507  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Reflecting on the Devaluation and Disappearance of Naira Notes" on: December 23, 2023, 09:43:06 PM
The matter no de funny at all, di way wey our currency take de devalue and disappear de very sad, imagine a whole 5 naira, na im wey de tell bye bye for dis country, because e no fit to buy anything again. As a matter of fact you no even fit dash Berger di money sef, because im fit to vex reject am, na who you go come blame? No be today our economy begin to de nose dive, in the early 80s, dem de use kobo, dat one die, in the early 90s dem de use 10 kobo, 50 kobo dat one die, in di early 2000 dem de use 5 naira, today e don die, I de fear say if di county still follow dis trend, in a few years e fit reach 200 naira and 500 naira turn. Maybe dem go come print 5000 naira and 1000, naira notes. One day you fit enter local joint go eat and you go spend 20k for a plate of rice and beans. E no funny, which way Nigeria?
1508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is there so much interest in popular cryptocurrencies? on: December 23, 2023, 08:45:55 PM
Major reasons why the bigger established coins like Bitcoin have dominated and become a major propeller of the market is because they have already built a lot of market repetition reputations and also gained a lot of investor trust to become the long-term assets which have made it markets to be high value to very high and less volatile which make it becoming a long term asset.

On like the smaller projects that have no track record and are based on hypes this can be best taken for shirt terms speculations alone since most times their market depends solely on the market of the other bigger coins,  and that is the reason why sometimes you see that whenever there is Bitcoin bull market other smaller coins also follow the trend.

Established crypto coins guarantees peace of mind, where the investors are not worried whether the coins will see another light of day, because they're sure that no matter how the market trends, whether price pump or dump that they're money remains safe. A cryptocurrency like Bitcoin follows a pertern that's quite predictable, bear run is a time to sow and bull run is a time to reap, if an investor can predict this circle and wait for the right season they'll harvest bountifully. Bitcoin and top altcoins like Ethereum, will surely give their investors profitable ROI.

This can not be said about new projects, they all come with hypes, giving promises of bountiful harvest, but in the end many of them comes short of these promises, so buying them is gambling your funds, and be ready to accept whatever outcome that they bring. There are credible ones, but in the midst of shitcoins, it is not to easy to know a genuine altcoins.

1509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do people make money with this web3 on: December 23, 2023, 06:04:44 PM
They have explained to you how the web3 works and how to make money from it, now for you to know more about web3 you need to use your Google search and find more details of web3 or you can go to this website and find out more things https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web3

Mind you, your friends did tell you the real deal because there are lot of things that can fetch someone money in web3 so the exact one your friends are doing is what we here don't know about.

Thanks for dropping this link, I hope it'll be helpful to me too, I'm yet to explore the potentials that is in web3, hopefully it interests me and I can also profit from it. I'm hearing that that you'd have to get in early for it to be profitable to you, anyways no need to ask more questions about it here, since I'm going to look it up, hopefully I'll get a headstart from there.
1510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Angry at the high fees? That's what everyone predicted the future will be like! on: December 23, 2023, 05:01:00 PM
At this point it is becoming confusing. I read somewhere that the high fees is as a result of Ordinal or NFTs on the Bitcoin network. According to the said comment, the Ordinals is a new trend that is massively being traded, hence the congestion of the Bitcoin network.

Exactly!

So it becomes confusing knowing what to believe to be the cause of the high fees and if there is any other way around it with respect to the future because fees like this is a kind of discouraging!

Miners will need to get paid for securing the network, this is a must, you can't pay all those miners 2 cents fee unless you want only the same level of security as Ethereum classic, so the whole thing is pretty simple, nobody will force you to do a thing but
- if in the future we will pay 1 cent per tx we would have one cent worth of bodyguard
- if in the future we want to have the same level of security as now, we have to pay twice the fees we're paying in the last few blocks!

This will be so much for Bitcoin being the top currency of the future where it's adoption will make everyone to look to cryptocurrency as the desirable means of transaction payments. Going by your analysis that means that we should not expect any redemption about Bitcoin high transaction fees coming down in the future, especially when the mempool is congested, in that case it'll still remain in the category of "an alternative means of payments", when it comes to using it to make payments for goods and services, because who'll bear the high transaction fees, seller or buyer? Fiat currencies will still be preferable, because it's cheaper and faster. Bitcoin will still maintain what is still keeping it going till today, a valuable digital asset to hold as an investment and for trading purposes, not as it's original purpose of p2p transaction payment currency, the high fees will be a clog in wheels of it's adoption.
1511  Economy / Economics / Re: Crisis everywhere it's time to come together and unite on: December 23, 2023, 03:20:21 PM
Times like this it's time to join and unite together
So what is the next innovative business we should do ?
Times are difficult and we feel like victims of beyrayel
I see that anyone who bring up some good idea not trusted instantly....but only way is unite together many people don't have income anymore and no money.
So who from us Will create us new currency? And we All use this currency and get some airdrop ?
WTH... (sorry for lingu) you are talking about, I thought you were going to talk about current financial issues and problems that middle-class people are facing due to the rich-class people. Or might be talking about something related to economic because your title looks very relevant but if compared with your post's last 2 lines, it does not match with it.

I mean, we should do business together and make some money and what? launch our own coin and could manipulate it for our own purposes like to make money by pumping and dumping it. Is that what you are suggesting here or I am getting all wrong?

And those who come up with good ideas are suppressed because those good ideas are eating a good business of a rich person that's why such good ideas are always ends.

The subject of this thread suggests a topic that bothers on world economy that is hit with disaster and how we can come together to salvage it, or maybe the oppression of a perticular class of people. But I'm surprised as you are that the content is about launching a cryptocurrency, he should know that this is an anonymous forum where we come to discuss cryptocurrency and other relevant matters as it affects us and the economy around us. As far as I know any businesses between members in this forum that is at their own risks, and you can't hold the forum responsible for any disagreements or scams. It's better he assembles a team if he wants to start a project.
1512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 23, 2023, 02:25:44 PM
Controlling gambling addiction can be easier said than done, someone can tell you to just try another hubby, even if you do, you might find yourself coming back to Gambling again. I believe that it takes very high discipline and patience to actually leave an addiction, not something that you can easily replace with another activity and expect the addiction to disappear. The gambler can gradually reduce the time spent on gambling, by engaging in other activities, then gradually there'll be a balance between gambling and the other activities, before he knows it, the time spent in gambling will reduce. If a gambler reaches a stage where he has discipline and can control his gambling emotions, then it'll not be considered
as addiction.

1514  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to start trading? on: December 23, 2023, 11:51:02 AM
Know that trading can be the start of losses. Trade with the amount of money that you can afford to lose.

What coins are you talking about?

On coingecko, click on the coins and click on 'market' which will list the exchanges that the coin is traded. You can also do that on Coinmarketcap.

Coingecko, is a very good place to search for exchanges to trade, you'll see the options, carry out your research and choose, depending on the ones that operates in your country.

It's true that just accumulating and holding Bitcoin or altcoins as an investment for years can be boring, although it's believed to be the safest method of making profit in cryptocurrency. So if someone wants to feel the action and make money on the short term, then it's trading, although you have to be equipped with essential knowledge of trading. So it's true to start with the amount that you can afford to loose, so you can minimize loses, because crypto trading is not an easy business, you'll have to understand it's fundamental and technical analysis, even that is not enough to guarantee profits.
1515  Other / Politics & Society / Re: women goes through a lot when they don't get married on: December 23, 2023, 10:39:57 AM

To me the most ugliest part of it is that in some part of the world,  women are not given part of their inheritance, it's only the male child, they believe that woman will get married and have a new home.

This is indeed one of the ugliest injustice that is done to women in some parts of the world especially in Africa, to be precise this ugly tradition still happens in my tribe. Women are not given anything from their father's inheritance, infact they're not even recognized in the sharing formula, only the male children have the right to receive inheritance. It is believed that female children will get married and belong to another family, therefore her inheritance will be in her husband's family. It is an achaich tradition that should be abolished, although some educated people are now writing wills, to ensure that their female children gets shares of their inheritance.

Another ugly tradition is if a widow doesn't have children or she has but there's no male child, the late husband's family will collect all her late husband's properties. Unless the woman is educated and fights for her right in court, she'd lose everything and only survive at their mercy.

Any woman that is of marriageable age and is still single doesn't get the respects that she deserves, although this trend is gradually fading as women are being more financially independent now.
1516  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advise: Too much customers equals much problems to contend with. on: December 23, 2023, 08:37:51 AM
My question is this, do you think that the influx of more users or customers to the BTC network or Crypto currency network would crash the system or help it grow more?

while an increase in users on the bitcoin network will not cause the network to crash, it will cause the network to become congested and make transactions take longer to process. it will make fees higher and this will discourage users from making transactions because of the high fees and this will also have implications for decreasing user experience and adoption of bitcoin.

I believe that the increase of Bitcoin users will not crash it's network, because I also believe that the Blockchain is designed to accommodate as many users transactions as possible. Not very knowledgeable in the field because I don't know if the Blockchain capacity can be expanded if the need arises, if not it'll affect the Bitcoin adoption in the future. Although one thing is certain as you have noted, the Bitcoin network congestion is a very big concern, because when there are lots of transactions to be confirmed, the mempool gets congested that leads to delays in confirmations and high transaction fees. This can be a clog in the wheels of it's smooth adoption.
1517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fast / easy / cheap / free way to create my own altcoin? on: December 23, 2023, 07:08:55 AM
If I wanted to create my own altcoin, what is the easiest/fastest/cheapest way to do it?

By "create" here I mean a coin I could give to my friends, offer to trade for other altcoins, and store in a wallet.

So you are looking for ways to scam your friends or their money, more than 5000 tokens were launched in the past 24 hours on Solana, it depends on where you want to launch the tokens, there are tutorials on YouTube on how to do it on Ethereum, and I am sure there should be one also for Solana since both platform are the two big thing in the space for now. I won't advise you create one because you know nothing about blockchain

I guess that this is the reason why we have so many shitcoins in the crypto space today, an industry where anybody can wake up one morning and decide that they want to have their own coins. I don't know if there's any sort of regulations to maintain standards before accepting applications for creating crypto coins, so that the rate at which worthless coins and tokens are created will reduce. Example is OP wanting to create a cheap and easy cryptocurrency, to share with his friends and trade with other coins, without a business plan or experience, how do you think that such an altcoin will survive the competitive market? I think that people should try and learn from professionals, be mentored by successful people in the line of business that they want to venture into, even go the extra mile and take a course if possible, so they can really master the industry and how it works.
1518  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Abeg Na true say say porthacourt Refinery don start dey work? on: December 22, 2023, 05:12:54 PM

1519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: We've onboarded FBI, Secret Service to our platform on: December 22, 2023, 04:13:59 PM

imagine having the FBI and Secret Service needing to approve your bitcoin wallet. That's what the USA government wishes could happen. Looks like they are getting their way with tether...which is kind of concerning that the USA government will now effectively control tether.

they say they did this for transparency but it seems like from now on the government can and will definitely have a look into different addresses containing usdt
will this affect their users? i feel like some would be ok with the idea of tether implementing a more secure system but on the other hand, the involvement of the government totally goes against the concept of crypto

I seriously want to believe that the US government must have a good reason to investigate certain wallets on Tether, it could be for reasons that concerns their national security. I guess that it must be so because it's not only FBI but also their secret service that's involved, so I guess it's best that Tether management cooperates with them to at least clear their name in any illegal deals. Although government interference goes against the norms of any crypto related affairs that should guarantee privacy, but if it's for a good cause, because of hacks and illegal activities, then we'll have to accept the turn of events.
1520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another year is going to end. Bitcoin isn't dead on: December 22, 2023, 03:09:46 PM
No matter what happens, Bitcoin was not created to die, fluctuations may happen but the value will remain the same, time shall come when people will start being afraid of investing but that's not for me, as far as many well meaningful persons have their investments in bitcoin, I only expect Bitcoin to change in price but it's existence will not be tampered, looking at the circumstances surrounding bitcoin, you will understand that this coin has suffered so much humiliation that no other coin pass through but it still withstand the wave, some countries has banned Bitcoin transaction through banks but the acceptance of Bitcoin by the institutions that accept it was not was not sanctioned, that's to say that Bitcoin has come to stay.

I think that Bitcoin has passed that stage where we'll fear whether it'll diminish like some random altcoin that'll eventually turn shitcoin, and be dead for good. That fear must be in the early years of adoption, when people were not sure of what to make of a decentralized digital currency, that has no physical presence. Not in this present days that investors have tested and are testifying it's profitability, infact Bitcoin has proven itself to be a valued asset that can be trusted to last as long as time permits. Bitcoin bear and bull runs will always give it relevance, where more investors will want to enter and take advantage to increase their ROI.
