Celtics should have played in the first game like this for sure. Keeping Sixers under 90 points? That is a huge achievement, and I think it could have been 100-105 and I would still say good enough defense but this is amazing. Losing your very first game of the seriest at home will hurt them. Now they are going to Philly and they will need to steal at least one game, preferably the first game so the series is 2-1 ahead like it suppose to be on third games for the home team, 2 wins at home means you can lose 2 at road and still be fine.

So, Celtics will look to steal one as well, I will bet that they are going to win the third game, I could of course be wrong, but that just what they suppose to do, will they be able to do it is beyond me for sure.

This one is gonna go the distance I think.  Celtics always look insanely good and then throw in a stinker.  Gonna be a fun one to watch.

Tonight laying in on the Warriors-6.  They can't go down 2-0 going to LA.  I feel a steph 40+ incoming tonight.  No way he defers.  Might take a look at the over too

Just sent some orange coin to my gambling account and was mulling over these same sentiments that you’re laying down here. I just can’t see Golden State going down 2-0 in this series, not being at home again tonight. Curry, as much as I can’t stand the guy, is one of the all time greats with plenty of playoff experience, so this is nothing new for him tonight.

I’m pulling heaving for LA, but win or lose I win either way as I’ll win money or the team I wanted wins lol

@everyone. Draft grades from Yahoo sports for the NFC and the AFC are released. They are 2 long articles and might take a coffee or tea and some biscuits to read all hehehe.

https://sports.yahoo.com/2023-nfl-draft-grades-for-nfc-eagles-get-top-marks-so-do-rebuilding-cardinals-and-one-team-received-an-f-185301750.html

https://sports.yahoo.com/2023-nfl-draft-grades-for-afc-steelers-did-the-best-while-three-playoff-teams-fall-in-c-range-150557358.html

@ChiBitCTy. Agreed. Similar to what I said already, Bryce Young might have a better performance than Cam Newton's return to the Panthers. I have not seen their draft grade, however, my guess Bryce should be an A or a B+.

Thanks for sharing these. I did make myself some coffee and biscuits (well it was actually a protein bar but biscuits of some kind would have been much more enjoyable) and read through the draft grades. It was nice to see my Chicago bears at the top of that one article and receiving an A grade on top of that, love to see it. The big O-Lineman they selected should help give Fields plenty more running room this coming season, which is a scary proposition for defenses.

<Snip>
It's interesting that the Crypto Guard box refers to the device as a hardware wallet, while the site you linked to calls it a device for password-protecting private keys. I guess it can be considered as both. it generates its own public and private key pairs, but the question is how secure all that is? Despite not being expensive, it's safe to say that the device never became popular, as there is almost no information about it anywhere.

I certainly will never be using it.  But I was hoping that someone here had used it before or at least knew of it.  Well, it's a good thing in terms of collector value that it's so unknown.. glad I picked it up!

I've got a few other wallets I use or have used yet to post, will do when I get a chance to dig them up.
1504  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: May 03, 2023, 11:51:52 PM
This is pretty well said overall and I agree with most of it.  I can't say I agree with "always use cash" because it's important in some places to build up credit, and you build up credit by showing you can manage debt.  If you're good at it, then your "credit score" goes up, and it will make your life easier and cheaper by getting better rates for homes, cars etc.

The number one issue I see people making is not using a budget.  Doing a simple monthly budget can easily put so much in to perspective. This is something I advise all my clients to do.
1505  Economy / Economics / Re: Concers About Going in Business with a Friend on: May 03, 2023, 11:48:22 PM
This is a really tricky one.  I think if you do decide to go in to business with a friend, first you better fully trust in their skill level and what they bring to the table, forget friendship for a moment.  If you do, and you see something special in them, then maybe it's worth considering.  I have a friend who always mentions wanting to open a business together.  I would never ever do so because I don't trust their business savvy, or lack thereof.  Plus you risk ruining a relationship (this is always a risk)..so if you do decide to try it...know what the possible outcomes are.
1506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE VIEW OF SOME PEOPLE OVER BITCOIN on: May 03, 2023, 11:41:04 PM
Well people who think or say that bitcoin is mostly used for illegal or nefarious type things, typically don't have a single clue about bitcoin and how it works.  They just tend to say this because they don't like change.  They don't like the idea of traditional fiat currency being replaced.

I believe that bitcoin can still fully be used as a currency, and sure it's volatile but it's going to take time to level out, and I think it will.
1507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 03, 2023, 11:37:52 PM
Maybe one last ride huh? Warriors vs Lebron again and Lebron managed to get the first win, that's a good thing for them, definitely a good way to break the home court advantage and should be considered a great deal, I hope that they can keep doing that for a while longer.

All in all I would guess that Lakers do have a big advantage thanks to AD, because they are doing something that Warriors can't do, which is rebounding like crazy. That is how Warriors beat Kings, managed to get the boards, and Lakers knew this and Lebron is making it look easier. I hope that it gets better soon enough, and the series gets tied next game. I am going to bet Warriors win on second game, that seems like the most likely result by the looks of it.

Yeah I'm actually reluctant to bet the winners rather pick the over unders.  I want to be able to enjoy these gane from a fan perspective instead of a gambling perspective.  Might be the last time we get one of these series between these 2 all time greats.  Hopefully it goes six or 7 amd gives us some dramatic finishes.

I dunno why but I always seem to have a hard time picking over/under predictions.  I personally would rather bet the spread, but you're right it doesn't allow for you to enjoy the game as much if you're team isn't winning lol.

I am hopeful the Lakers Warriors series goes to game 7 as well.  If last night was any indication, this might just be what happens.  (glad I put money on the lakers last night too). Was a fun game.

So, Joel Embiid won the KIA MVP Award.

And I found this lovely image on Twitter
https://twitter.com/ferraridreams/status/1653537152997683200?s=20
Credits to the poster.

Joel Embiid. A lot of people said it is the media who made him the MVP and not because he is the real MVP in terms of value. And, there are discussions about the NBA media disliking the idea of giving Nikola Jokic the 3rd consecutive MVP because that will put him on the level of Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell.
I believe Joel Embiid deserves it. But, I don't like the idea of the media controlling the voting system just because they dislike what a person would achieve in case he won it. If ever it is true. My vote was for the Joker, no biased feeling, in terms of value the Nuggets will have a difficult time winning a game without him but the 76ers can, and was proven at Game 1 against the Celtics at home.

Congratulations to Joel Embiid.

I believe that Joel Embiid deserved the aware, but there is no question that the media is manipulative in how they choose season award winners, and that especially applies to the MVP.  Derrick Rose, the year he won as the youngest MVP ever, didn't deserve it, Lebron did..but he won I think the two before, or at least 1 within the previous 2 seasons and they wanted to change things up.  So he deserved it, but there's absolutely manipulation out there.
1509  Economy / Economics / Re: Is risky to invest this period on: May 02, 2023, 10:51:00 PM
When I first bought bitcoin is was $200 a coin.  It was highly "risky" then, it is highly risky now, it was highly risky when it was at 40k, 50k and 60k...my point being it's going to be a highly risky/volatile "asset" for a long time to come.  Just like with anything, the higher the risk, the higher the reward..so invest what you can afford to lose and utilize a DCA/Dollar Cost Averaging strategy and you'll be just fine.
1510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You shouldn't be worried about bitcoin on: May 02, 2023, 10:48:39 PM
Your analogy uses computers, which were something the world didn't have before they were invented, and was something that instantly changed the way EVERYTHING worked.  Each generation of computer breakthroughs just mean the world could run and work in a more efficient manner.  The difference with bitcoin is that bitcoin isn't necessarily needed in most peoples opinion.  Computers were/are..no matter what anyone said or though..bitcoin is a currency, not a machine.
1511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The psychology of betting..... on: May 02, 2023, 10:41:42 PM
That's funny that you bring up the pressing of buttons versus pulling the slot lever when playing slots machines as being considered a "strategy" for some gamblers.  I have been to in person casinos before and had friends who did the same exact thing.  I of course just laughed at them.  I don't think they necessarily thought that it would give them a better chance at winning, but it was more of a "good luck" type deal, where as you state...simply a psychological deal.
1512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 02, 2023, 10:39:20 PM
Well let me tell ya what, I sure don't see her winning mother of the mother of the year award anytime soon.  This is super trashy for a mom to be teaching her son these types of ways, even if this son is a fully grown man...just smells pathetic.

No, I never would blame anyone else for my gambling losses.  The other person you have to blame for your own gambling losses is your own self!  No two ways about it.
1513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: May 02, 2023, 10:36:38 PM
I'm really pumped for both games tonight.  I'm excited to see the Knicks doing as well as they are, which normally I'm not a very big fan of their and I'm excited to see playoff Jimmy Buckets going up against him and doing his playoff thing more than likely. I mean when it comes to guys in the playoffs...Jimmy Butlers an all time great.

Edit: nvm Butler is out game 2 booo

The second game of course is where I'm really excited to see.  Lebron versus Curry, which could be a final showdown, or at least the best showdown we may ever see of those two again..Can't wait!

I think I'm only betting the second game, and I think I'm putting my money on LA..though I'm not sure that's wise.
1514  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing Addiction. on: May 01, 2023, 10:40:08 PM
I think any addiction carries a level of unhealthiness even if it's something like an addiction to working out, there are negative consequences to that too.

Now what type of investing addiction is a bit different of a story.  There's a big difference between being addicted to investing for the long term versus investing for short term.  When investing for short term, typically investors are investing in a more risky manner, which can certainly get you in to trouble.  Day trading has lead many to become addicted to investing and that's a good way to lose a lot of money quickly.

Everything in moderation!
1515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin thief who stole $5M worth of crypto sentenced to 4 years in prison on: May 01, 2023, 10:13:39 PM
I am glad to see this, as bitcoin related crimes have been a bit hard to prosecute.  This is something that we are dealing with quite a bit in the collectibles section.  We've had quite a few "rug pulls" where coin/wallet makers have ended up keeping private keys for these fancy paper wallets that we collect, and trying to go after them has been quite the task.  Hopefully more and more arrest like this will help set the framework for legal litigation moving forward.

@ChiBitCTy. On the Lions' pick, I am not quite certain why this was bad, I need to learn more about this game hehe. However, it might be because the Lions might trade D’Andre Swift or David Montgomery later before the preseason?

In any case, @everyone. We were 10 teams during the previous season. I reckon this year our league should have 12 teams? Should we find 2 more entrants?

Well that's the thing. At time of the draft pick, the Lions still had Swift ( who's since been traded ) as well as they paid David Montgomery a large contract ( too large in my opinion ).  Even still, after trading Swift I still feel like they drafted a running back way too high.  Bijan Robinson was the only RB in my opinion that deserved to be drafted in round one.  I think a lot of people are pretty skeptical of that pick by the Lions.  Time shall tell though.

@everyone. We were 10 teams during the previous season. I reckon this year our league should have 12 teams? Should we find 2 more entrants?

I dunno. 10 seems to be a good number, not too easy, not too hard. If we up to 12, at least 1 or 2 teams are guaranteed to have landed a shitty QB as will become apparent by the end of the first few weeks. I'm not totally against it, however. Guess it depends on the level of interest when mid-August rolls around.

It will be interesting to see how Bryce Young performs in his first season. It's always a crapshoot with rookies but I read a lot of good things about him. Same goes for CJ Stroud although he's gonna have a lot less to work with than Young on the Panthers.

I'm fine with 10 or 12.  I think you guys know 8 is not very fun, but 10 might be that sweet spot for most.

I'm very interested to see who has the better season and career between Young and Stroud!
1517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: May 01, 2023, 10:01:27 PM
I am not a gambling addict but some friends are making me look like one because I gamble less and they gamble more, it all started when we got into an argument that investing in Bitcoin is not the same as gambling, my friends who are gamblers, not full-time but more of a gambler than I am, are claiming that there is no difference between investing and gambling, they said if all you doing is investing money on Bitcoin you are no different to those who are gambling in a casino.

Still, I refuse this because I believe they are wrong, Bitcoin market has charts and I am playing with charts even if I am a full-time Bitcoin trader, all I need to do is read charts, and if I am good at it I will win vs gambling, where it's you vs a company which we can never tell if their games are completely fair or not.

Furthermore, I told them that Bitcoin investors tend to get positive results, while online casino gamblers tend to get negative results more than positive result, true or false?

I asked them to show me prove that they make more from gambling than they lose, none of them showed me, but I prove to them that I hardly have losses investing in Bitcoin lol .

Famz, drop your opinion on this, would you categorize these two as gambling? Because the only winning factor from Bitcoin investment is to just buy low and wait for a high price, it's not the same with casinos. Am I not making sense? I will like to hear from you.

I can't say I agree with really anything either sides here are saying.  First off, bitcoin and gambling are two entirely different things.  Bitcoin was created as digital payment system.  Now it's become an investment, just like all currencies are as they are traded and used as investments, but inherently it's a payment system. Gambling could mean a lot of things, but with gambling you win or lose at thats that.  Your bitcoin value can go up and or down but as long as you hold on to it, you're losing nothing.

Knowing charts doesn't make you a bitcoin trader, and there's a lot more to the price of bitcoin than just what chat movements say ( or you think they say ).  There's a certain level of fundamental analysis with bitcoin as well as technical.

So IMO you're both wrong.
1518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a fan of sports betting? Have you ever considered using Bitcoin sportsbo on: May 01, 2023, 09:57:23 PM
For a while I was only betting sports through a buddy who had become a "bookie" for a group of us friends and other people we went to college with.  Once he decided it was more work than he felt like dealing with, I was out of luck.  I found bitcoin back in 2014ish, and sometime around 2016-17 I realized that a lot of online casinos were now starting to allow for bitcoin payments.  That completely changed the game for me, and have been doing more online sports betting than ever now that crypto, and more so bitcoin are a payment option ( versus receiving shady checks from some island nation).
1519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel bad while paying with BTC? on: April 30, 2023, 08:06:29 PM
30+ Bitcoins? who's him? I think you're refer to Laszlo Hanyecz where he spend 10,000 Bitcoins for 2 pizza and he was not disappointed for doing it, so why you should care with it?

It's your choice if you want to pay with BTC or not, but I believe there's a time where you will convert your Bitcoin to cash because you will need that money in the future, you can't just hold it and not enjoy what you've accumulated so long.

All in all he actually spent over 30,000 bitcoins as he did a couple deals like his infamous 10,000 bitcoin for pizza trade that was the first ever bitcoin for goods transaction.

OP- I understand what you’re saying and where you’re coming from, but I think it’s also important to understand that bitcoin is first for foremost designed to be digital cash, meant to pay for things. I personally believe that it’s important that bitcoin be used as a means of currency as that gives it more value, legitimate utility.

So personally I feel no different spending it or traditional fiat.

OP- what are your exact plans for this "project"...to just list recommended wallets?  Might be nice to have a section for wallets NOT recommended?
The idea was never to offer a list of recommended or non-recommended wallets. There are already such collections, like Ratimov's [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+) or our regularly updated Croatian version, [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+). I was just interested in finding out what hardware wallets users of Bitcointalk use, why, and how they look.
