15021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Problems: Lack of regulation creates a risky environment. on: June 02, 2018, 02:18:03 AM
So far, I haven't seen an experienced trader get scammed or lost it all way back when there literally isn't a single regulation in place for bitcoin,

anybody who is a regular trader (not a once in a while making 1 trade per 2 months and withdrawing) has been scammed at some point in their journey by an exchange that ran away. we have had a couple of big ones in the past: Mt Gox, Cryptsy, Bitfinex, Bittrex,... a lot of traders have been on these platforms when they scammed them.
15022  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: June 01, 2018, 05:06:00 AM
Is anyone organising legal action over all the frozen accounts and stolen funds? Seems a case that would easily be won!

they were so good about choosing the users they scammed. for example they didn't scam someone from US or other countries that could do something about it. instead they chose people from certain countries that they were sure they couldn't do anything about it! the countries such as Crimea, Iran, Cuba, North Korea, and Syria according to their announcement which came months after they pulled the scam.
while bittrex was saying they accept users from these countries they suddenly closed all their accounts overnight and stole their funds!
15023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Yobit.net Investment Good or Scam? on: June 01, 2018, 04:56:25 AM

Just doing my research before sticking a couple of dollars into the invest box for some 5% return daily, just testing waters, now this got my attention. I almost purchased some lambo coin, well because of the name, i know it is a shitcoin, and it has no real world value, but have you seen the price today, 8btc for one lambo coin.

saw the chat going while when it was a mear few satoshi, was going to get 1000 just for fun. I not laughing now I tell ya, I not laughing now. this is the second time its happened to me where I felt like getting a coin but didn't because i saw almost 10% gain buying and transfering to sell at another exchange.

It's more expensive than BTC itself, WTF???

Maybe because it's Lambo  Cheesy

there are currently 4 altcoins that are worth more than bitcoin, it used to be more than this (if i recall correctly it was around 10-12 coins). they usually are worth more because they have a ridiculously small supply so 1 coin of that altcoin worth a lot more.
for instance Bit20 is worth $336000 because there is only 1 coin available!
same with NANOX which is worth $70000 and has 0.078 coin (not even 1 whole coin!)
42-coin $28000 with only 42 coins
bitBTC $8500 with 52 coins
15024  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would BTC shake off an ICO shite implosion? on: June 01, 2018, 04:47:38 AM
the markets are connected to each other and affect each other too. and it works somewhat both ways. when shitcoins are getting pumped 1000% at a time, people see this and want to become rich (in their dreams LOL) so they want to jump in. for many of them including ICOs they would need to buy bitcoin first then invest that in these craps. then when they implode and the dumping comes they run away fast too and that means exiting the same way they came in which means more sells of bitcoin.

so we can't say bitcoin is going to come out without a "scratch". the real question is "HOW MUCH SCRATCH".
15025  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to get txid from desearialized payto hex on: June 01, 2018, 04:18:14 AM
sorry that is my bad. i am still forget about SegWit most of the times since it is new!

Transaction ID for legacy transactions (without SegWit) requires you to sign the transaction then double SHA the whole transaction to get the TX ID.
but in SegWit you need everything apart from the witness part (which is where your signature is located) to get the TX ID. so basically you do the double SHA on [nVersion][txins][txouts][nLockTime] which fixes the malleability problem too.

15026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex launches the first phase of US dollar. on: June 01, 2018, 04:01:20 AM
bittrex is a scam exchange and you should stay away from it.

there has been a lot of complains about it for over a year now and last year they finally scammed thousands of their users who were coming from certain countries. the reason why this was a scam is because they told these users that they could freely use their platform and trade there without any problem but overnight they decided they don't want to give service to these certain users and then without warning they closed all their accounts and stole all their funds without giving it back or giving any answer to them.
15027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Giving Pledge on: June 01, 2018, 03:50:41 AM
unless you are alone in this world with no family, relatives or friends this does not concern you be cause when you die you simply pass your belongings including bitcoin to your Heirs.

as for using an escrow, it is impossible unless that escrow is a lawyer not a random person on the internet, no matter how trusted they are you still can't trust your bitcoins with someone else who is not bound by law to fulfill his escrow obligations.
15028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Technology involvements in Top companies on: June 01, 2018, 03:44:29 AM
this is mainly hype (for the companies that try integrating blockchain technology).
they know that the blockchain technology is a revolution in technology and it is a very useful one too. on top of it, this technology is pretty hyped up. so using it can bring a lot of attention to their company, this can mean more revenue, higher share prices and a lot more. so everyone wants to get involved and do something with it.

it is not a bad thing nor a good one. they will create a centralized version of some platform that uses this technology. it can improve their company and help with a lot of things but it won't be public nor decentralized so we bitcoin users, don't care much about it.
15029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the Keystore/JSON File possible to get back? on: June 01, 2018, 03:36:27 AM
you forgot to tell us what wallet are you talking about and also what cryptocurrency?
"Keystore/JSON" sounds like you are talking about MyEtherWallet, in which case there is no way of recovering it unless you remember the password you used or your browser saved it or something like that.
if it is another web wallet such as blockchain.info, you need to remember your login password.
it doesn't sound like a desktop wallet though!
15030  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Do you Handle a Downtrend as a day trader? on: May 31, 2018, 04:31:16 AM
when you are trading altcoins, whether it is a downtrend or uptrend everywhere else you must look for an altcoin that is on the rise aka getting pumped. and there are quite a lot of them out there  and at least 5 are  getting pumped every day. you find these, invest and pull out before the peak and make profit. move to next and do the same to make more profit.
if you can't then stay away from the market,  cash out and wait until you can speculate the market and then come back in. nobody is forcing you to trade every single day.
15031  Economy / Speculation / Re: The June is coming and the market will boom up from that on: May 31, 2018, 04:19:38 AM
In the previous two years we saw a situation that from the month of January to May the price was near to stability stable and with slow move

since when are we calling nearly 200% rise a "stability stable with slow move"?!!!
have you looked at the charts? price was $800-$900 when 2017 began and it reached $1100 for the first time which was the ~ATH of 2013 then we had a -31% drop thanks to FUD and panic sell down to $750 and then rise to $1350 happened (80% rise) then another drop to $891 (-34% drop) then rise to $2760 in mid May (209% rise).

2016 wasn't that different either. price started at $465 then fell down to $352 (-24% drop) and then with a couple of ups and downs reached $ 590 (67% rise). June rise here was because of halving.

Quote
It is sure that we saw a situation in the previous two years then we will also see it in this year. So get ready as the train will start within a few days.

even if what you said above were true, it still doesn't mean it can be repeated just because it happened before.
15032  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Incorrect password electron cash.. (difficulties) on: May 31, 2018, 03:49:42 AM
~
 I am using 3.1.2.

Downloaded 3.2 and still same issue.

I downloaded the. exe version, would another possibly work? Portable or source? Also, running windows 8.1.

there shouldn't be a difference between the installed and portable but sometimes portable can work in bugs like this so it is worth a try. make sure you close electron-cash properly before you reopen it (check the taskbar or your task manager to see if it is closed.

maybe others have some suggestions but if eventually the problem wasn't solved your only other option is to start a new issue on github. remember to mention you have created the wallet with an old version but upgraded to a new version.
15033  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Incorrect password electron cash.. (difficulties) on: May 31, 2018, 03:24:33 AM
which version are you using, there has been some bugs with passwords in the past in the older versions which are now fixed.
look at these they have similar issues like you but with an old version a couple of months ago:
https://github.com/fyookball/electrum/issues/431
https://github.com/fyookball/electrum/issues/534

this pull request should have fixed this issue:
https://github.com/fyookball/electrum/pull/449

if you do have an old version then try upgrading. the latest version is 3.2

15034  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to get txid from desearialized payto hex on: May 31, 2018, 03:06:31 AM
i am not sure what you are trying to do here, but in order to get the transaction ID of a transaction, you just perform SHA256 hashing on it twice. if you have it in decentralized form (the indented JSON looking thing down) you should first stick all those parts together and make the raw hex formal and then do the hashing on it.

if your transaction isn't signed then doing all that is moot because there is no transaction ID for an unsigned transaction yet.
15035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Centralized and Decentralized on: May 31, 2018, 02:56:40 AM
speaking of centralized and decentralized systems it always depends on the system itself to compare them and say which one is better. in my opinion when it comes to a cryptocurrency that is created by someone or some group of developers it is meaningless to make it centralized. which is why centralized altcoins are considered shitcoins by all the market participants. it is simply because centralization requires trust and people aren't going to put their trust in a bunch of people when there is trusted centralized currency called fiat issued by the government.
15036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Real Satoshi Nakamoto tells you how it is now - in Muppet form. ;) on: May 31, 2018, 02:43:57 AM
Nowadays many people claim to claim that they are satoshi, but I think what advantage they get with them claiming to be satoshi.
just because someone is calling himself "real" doesn't make them real. and you, by posting his links here are giving him an undeserved attention for his trolling. and guess what he is doing with that attention? he is advertising shitcoins and ICOs!!!

I mean, if you actually opened the twitter video link and actually watch even only at least 5 seconds of it, it's obviously a satire account/page.

satire or not, i only opened the page and looked at the rest of the tweets by that account and many of them are advertising shitcoins and ICOs in the name of Satoshi.

15037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Exchanges pay us interest for our risk? on: May 31, 2018, 02:37:49 AM
it all comes down to what the purpose of the place you put your money is.
the purpose of the bank is to take your money and do something with your money. it can be loans and all that services banks offer with fiat that Franky also mentioned, it is also the fact that banks do invest your money in different places, it is a lot of short term and long term investments in other businesses short and big. so they make profit with your money officially and have to pay you back a fixed portion of it, risk-free.

but the purpose of an exchange is only to provide a platform where you meet other traders and exchange your assets with each other, nothing more. this platform offers to hold both of your assets and money while you do the trade and give it back to you when you want it. kind of like an advanced escrow. so YOU pay them to give you this service.
15038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Making a ton of money with short bitcoin futures? on: May 31, 2018, 02:28:53 AM
is it possible to make a lot of money shorting bitcoin?
of course it is, people have made money doing that.

can you do it too?
possibly not. there have been a lot of stories from people who have tried shorting bitcoin and lost a huge amount of money. just use google and you will find them. shorting is always 10 times riskier than simply buying bitcoin because if you buy bitcoin and price goes down you can just hold until it recovers and you make your money back. but if you short but price goes up you lose money period.
not to mention that you are shorting bitcoin which many consider the dumbest move because it is a coin that is on the rise most of the times.

15040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: About the private key on: May 30, 2018, 05:13:43 AM
but printing out xpriv is likely telling to any brilliant thieves that you are hiding something

that can be where BIP39[1] comes in. instead of having a master private key (xprv) you have a set of words that you can store. and since they are just words (can be in different languages not just English) you can do some creative stuff like choosing your favorite book and then choose different pages and underline the words corresponding with your seed, or simply write down the words in the book if you can't find them.
so instead of storing this
Code:
xprv9s21ZrQH143K2gA81bYFHqU68xz1cX2APaSq5tt6MFSLeXnCKV1RVUJt9FWNTbrrryem4ZckN8k4Ls1H6nwdvDTvnV7zEXs2HgPezuVccsq
you store this:
Code:
legal winner thank year wave sausage worth useful legal winner thank yellow
