15021  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Bitcoin with Bitcoin, low fees? on: May 07, 2018, 02:46:49 PM
If you wanted to long bitcoin, why not just bitcoin right now and sell at a specific price in the future? You're just going to make things more complicated with leverage trading. If you wanted to go ahead though, check out Bitmex[1]. I'm really not sure if it's the "cheapest" though, but it's the most reputable that I know.

Best of luck.

15022  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does the lawsuit of Bitcoin.com affect Bitcoin prices? on: May 07, 2018, 02:33:02 PM
It's going to positively help by ensuring that people are buying the correct coin. So yes, it will affect bitcoin's prices, but will it be noticeable? Definitely not. It affects the price in a very very very small manner. But in the end, what's good about it is that people wouldn't be buying the wrong coin(as they used to list bitcoin as BCH); hence, we're probably going to see a lot less people complaining that they've bought the wrong coin(though I don't see people complaining here).
15023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which wallet saport ERC 20 token on: May 07, 2018, 05:28:30 AM
just downloaded MEW and metamask.
but do not quite get how i obtain tokens, i will just use the use address as ETH for all tokens?

Yes. Since ERC20 tokens are on the Ethereum network, you're tokens can also be stored on your eth wallet address. There's a section on the right side that says something like "load erc20 tokens" or something similar.
15024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much does an Airdrop cost? on: May 07, 2018, 04:34:16 AM
I joined a bunch of airdrops last year, about 20, I was paid by only a few of them (about 5). I have sent documents, telegram, created a twitter (already deleted anyway), etc.... did a bunch of useless tasks and received from 5cc to 20 usd.
Conclusion: waste of time and risky.

Well damn. I didn't actually know airdrops required documents as I've never got interested in airdrops anyway. Definitely a no for me then. I don't even feel comfortable giving my bitcoin wallet address to airdroppers, what much more my personal documents? It pretty much is like just selling your information to them. Definitely not worth the few dollars.
15025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What kind of cryptocurrency is easier to obtain? on: May 07, 2018, 04:28:58 AM
Which coins are easier to obtain? If anything, bitcoin and ethereum is actually the easiest to obtain as every crypto exchanges supports bitcoin. And also that if you want to get them for free(even though I definitely don't suggest this), bitcoin has the highest amounts of bitcoin faucets online.
15026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Question About Bitcoin ATMs! on: May 07, 2018, 01:32:28 AM
Just like TryNinja said, pretty much every single bitcoin ATM has high fees, due to them needing to pay for the ATM itself. If you wanted to save money, probably go with LocalBitcoins[1]. Just select your country and choose the category of what payment method you prefer, then you're good to go.

15027  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which exchange allows to buy BTC with credit card ? on: May 06, 2018, 05:23:20 PM
Pretty much a good number of crypto-fiat exchanges accepts credit cards. Though it completely depends on what country you're in. If I remember correctly, the US government now prohibits cryptocurrency purchases using credit cards.  http://fortune.com/2018/02/04/banks-ban-buying-bitcoin-credit-card/
15028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 60% off on Gold buy from Bitcoin on: May 06, 2018, 04:09:40 PM
60% off on gold ?? That is fake gold or stolen gold ??

They'd probably specify if it was fake. Though does it even matter if it was "stolen" gold? Would the person know anyway? sincere question.
15029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How will my tokens become coins? on: May 06, 2018, 03:39:18 PM
Some tokens will stay tokens forever as they don't need to run in their own blockchain(hence they run on the ethereum network instead). Some cryptocurrencies though, like EOS, they're currently only a token as they're still at the 1-year ICO stage. After that 1 year, then they're going to convert to becoming a coin as they're going to need their own native blockchain.
So you mean that if the token is not running their own kind of blockchain it will never be a coin even if it is listed in top exchanges, has values, and got listed at coinmarketcap?. What are the requirements for it to be called as coins?

Coin = runs on it's own blockchain code, like Bitcoin/Ripple/Ethereum
Altcoin = runs on another blockchains codebase, I think most runs on Bitcoin
Token = lives on a blockchain, like ERC tokens on ETH's blockchain. Bitcoin doesn't (currently) support tokens, but for example Ethereum, Stellar, etc does

Tokens are easy to create and manage, since they live on the ETH blockchain for example, the ETH network keeps them alive.
If you made your own Altcoin based on Bitcoin's code as an example, you'd need a network of nodes, which means you'd need to find people willing to do this.
While a token, you just need to give value. Say you have a project in which your token will be used in some way, from there the value comes.

EOS as an example is a Token currently but they're releasing their own blockchain in june, and at that point a snapshot is taken on all EOS holders who can then convert them to the actual EOS blockchain.
However, for 99% of the tokens, this is not going to happen, and rightly so. Take Binance as an example, right? That's a token on ETH's blockchain. What purpose would there be for Binance-coin to run on it's own blockchain?
None, it's only purpose is to work internally on Binance for paying fees etc, and the value therefore comes from supply & demand to pay the fees on Binance, since it's the tokens only usage.

edit: actually I might be wrong about coin/altcoin, not entirely sure if altcoins simply refers to any coin that is on it's own blockchain and isn't Bitcoin!

Mostly you are correct except I would word the definitions a little differently especially for Altcoins, like you wrote in edited part:
Coin: Has it's own blockchain. Bitcoin, Ethereum...
Altcoins: Historically any coin that isn't Bitcoin. It is used in this meaning on Bitcointalk sections names and by all senior members.
Token: Is created on top of existing blockhain which supports tokens. Most notable examples are ERC-20 tokens on Etherum blockchain(Omise Go, Oyster Perl...) and NEP-5 tokens on NEO blockchain (Ontology...)

But from what you're saying, wouldn't Ethereum be an Altcoin, since Ethereum isn't Bitcoin?

Altcoin = any other coin that isn't bitcoin. So yes, ETH is an altcoin. Though I really hate using the world "altcoin" as it sounds sort of degrading.
15030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How will my tokens become coins? on: May 06, 2018, 01:43:54 AM
What kind of coins should your tokens become?

If you mean steaks, then еvery bounty campaign has explanations. There is a description of how many stakes will be received for work. Usually steaks are converted to tokens. And the tokens of this campaign are credited to your wallet. Then you can sell them or hold them. Sometimes the calculation is made by tokens of the campaign, without a system of steaks or bitcoins.

For now just trying to get a mental grasp...so for the sake of this lets say Ethereum. If I earn EC20 then how will they convert?

Some tokens will stay tokens forever as they don't need to run in their own blockchain(hence they run on the ethereum network instead). Some cryptocurrencies though, like EOS, they're currently only a token as they're still at the 1-year ICO stage. After that 1 year, then they're going to convert to becoming a coin as they're going to need their own native blockchain.
15031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on the Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash Dilemia on: May 06, 2018, 01:41:19 AM
Curious to see what people's thoughts are on this topic. There is a strong side of protesters who believe BCH and Roger Ver is hurting the overall market while others support their actions.

Overall the loud banter on the topic is not progressive for the market to grow, thoughts?

I think the main  problem is that Bcash is spreading misinformation.
Like Bitcoin.com where he tries to cheat users into buying bcash as if it were btc

The whole publicity with slugs "the real btc" or "true Satoshi vision" are misleading. I think that attitude can hurt the market because it harms people, trying to fool people into buying bcash as of it were btc.

This. Some people actually bought BCH instead of BTC as Bitcoin was listed as BCH and BTC was listed as Bitcoin Core on bitcoin.com

I mean, I'm fine with creating forks. In a decentralized ecosystem, disagreements are to be really expected. But stuff like this as done by Roger Ver? Nope. Linux Mint forked Ubuntu Linux, but the Linux Mint community isn't spreading misinformation that "Linux Mint is the real Ubuntu" or something.
15032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Satoshi mined bitcoins owned by the US Government on: May 05, 2018, 11:16:21 AM
If ever satoshi was owned by the government, then the government will be able to keep track of all the bitcoin user but I think it is not owned by the US government because it offers various opportunities to other countries.

Not necessarily. Not because Satoshi is actually the US government it doesn't automatically mean that the government now has the power to track all of the bitcoin users. Satoshi is just the inventor/creator. He/she/they don't have an advantage over other bitcoin users/devs, besides his/her/their knowledge.
15033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Banknotes Debut in Singapore on: May 04, 2018, 02:05:13 PM
Good concept I guess? The challenge is to make them easy and quick to transact. The problem with this is that before you actually accept the "banknotes" you need to scan them one by one to confirm that it actually does contain some btc.

Correct me if there's something I missed.
15034  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coinpedia: Crypto Trading EOS Surpasses Ethereum in Trade Volume on: May 04, 2018, 06:42:03 AM
tldr; A cryptocurrency with only a whitepaper surpases ETH in trade volume.

I honestly don't know why so much people are so bullish on EOS.

Some good reads:
15035  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: altcoin going dump why? on: May 04, 2018, 05:39:11 AM
Not all altcoins are going down.

  • Ethereum up by 10.55%
  • Golem up by 9.57%
  • IOTA up by 6.82%
  • NEO's GAS up by 16.52%
  • WTC up by 9.74%

The list goes on. A good number of shitcoins are going down though..              ..*ehem* TRX *ehem*

but coinmarketcap top 10 biggest coin in 5 coin going dump.

Take an actual look on the graphs of the top10 coins that are dropping in price. Most of them has increased a lot in the past few weeks and the small drop is almost nothing. A good example would be EOS[1].

15038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kanye West finally mentions the B-word on: May 04, 2018, 03:00:37 AM
I really don't know if hearing bitcoin shills from a person like Kanye is a good thing; knowing that Kanye recently made some 'interesting' and definitely questionable statements saying that "slavery is a choice". Any publicity is good publicity, I guess?
15039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why didn't Warren Buffett invest in Bitcoin? on: May 04, 2018, 02:39:19 AM
Very understandable in his part. He says that he doesn't understand bitcoin or blockchain technology in general, so it would be very understandable that he doesn't want to invest in it. Unlike those people who just invest in bitcoin solely because of the price rise, and nothing else. There's a reason why Warren Buffet is a billionaire and most of us are not.
15040  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newcomer ask for advice on: May 03, 2018, 04:58:12 PM
Technically you can use your laptop to mine, but chances are you're going to mine next to nothing. Not to mention you're laptop's going to die down significantly faster when running such CPU and GPU intensive programs.

You want profit? Buy an ASIC miner. Though you could also try GPU mining, but not with bitcoin though. Do your research on what other coins are best to mine with GPUs.
