15161  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest personal bitcoin loss on: July 28, 2015, 05:08:19 PM
Hmm the biggest loss I can remember is only a third of a whole bitcoin, not much compared to those who were left nothing by the Mt. Gox fiasco. Also the biggest losses I could think of would obviously come from gamblers who are addicted to that thing.
15162  Economy / Speculation / Re: Only $360mio of inflow needed to keep current price and reach next halving! on: July 28, 2015, 09:46:18 AM
For some reasons I start to think that miners would give up on mining after Mining block reward , I mean they was earning 25 BTC and they would be earning 12.5 will they still making profit with all electricity they are eating ? If not is it a possible theory that they will stop mining and Bitcoin will eventually die ?  Undecided

That is unlikely to happen because in theory, as the supply diminishes, the value rises. Same with bitcoin, if the price rise by some % in the next halving, chances are miners would still continue on mining with their machines. If the negative happens, some miners who cannot gain profit on mining will simply turn off their miners so as to prevent losses.
15163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Creation of more powerful Hardwares Could destroy Bitcoin ? on: July 26, 2015, 07:21:34 PM
It never gets "easier to mine", actually it gets harder, difficulty increases with the network hashing power, faster, better hardware leads to difficulty increase.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty

Agreed. In the PoW system of mining, with higher hashing power and better hardware, the difficulty will just increase resulting to an even more harder mining for slower and inefficient miners. What bothers me is not the development of faster, more powerful, and more efficient mining chips to mine bitcoins, but the things that might actually "break" bitcoins security via brute-force (which I know wouldn't be available anytime sooner, but come on, technology is rapidly evolving every single day.)
15164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Remove Mentions Of Low Fees And Instant Transactions" from Bitcoin.org on: July 24, 2015, 02:59:19 PM
Bitcoin transactions are still instant, confirmation times aren't. Also, I'll ask you a question: where can you find a money transfer service that offers you to pay for less than a dollar to get your transaction in place and be sent to a place that is thousands of miles away from your location? I think there is none.

15167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Test Yourself: Are You the Ultimate Bitcoin Expert? on: July 22, 2015, 08:36:28 PM
Only got 38 out of 51 answers. The Merkle tree confused me quite a bit and other technical details about bitcoin. Seems like I'm not that knowledgeable enough on bitcoin to know those technical things.
15168  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan request of 0.1 bitcoins [no collateral] on: July 22, 2015, 08:25:38 PM
I see you're not offering any collateral.
That makes it risky for the lender. I hope someone will do it. But it won't be me.

I already PM'd the one who offered first and I'm willing to offer this account as collateral.

I am waiting for escrow reply to review your account and held it. Seems , Muhammed Zakir is not online.

I will update here, once he is back.

Yes, it seems that MZ isn't online as of this moment so I tried to ask the lending section to see if someone will take my offer. As of this moment, I'm currently talking to two users and discussing terms to see which will I accept. I just badly need the money by morning that's why I asked a loan.
OP in case your loan won't be covered by me, I can offer escrow.
Let me know what you think.

Escrow is widely-welcomed by me. If you can offer one, that's fine. Will you accept my offer or not? Because I am ready to fulfill the terms now.
But you said you won't accept my offer.

I can act as an escrow if you guys want, just because MZ isn't online.

The request will be fulfilled by Magic8Ball, so I guess I need to lock this thread now. Anyway, thanks for offering your help on this matter. Smiley Locking the thread now.
15169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is wealth boring? on: July 22, 2015, 07:32:06 PM
Large amounts of money make people lose that generous, kind, caring part of their personality. The people who give the most are those who have the least. People who do not have much ate much more real.

Yes a poorer guy would be more helpful then that of the richer guy. The poor person understands the emotions of others as he has gone through the same phase.

Comparatively rich people don't have respect for the poor and they don't treat them as they should be treated. It is better to be poor and helpful rather to be a rich and useless  Wink

That is the norms of this society nowadays. Sadly, as a man grow richer and richer, the gap between himself and the poor is widening. I've always wondered why people who have less tends to give more, and the people who have more tends to give less, when theoretically, the people who have more should give more simply because they have the resources to give.
15170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the size of a bitcoin wallet.dat ? on: July 22, 2015, 07:28:33 PM
Usually around 100kb to 2mb, depends on the number of transactions made by the whole wallet. But if you're asking for the whole blockchain, that is almost 40gb as of this moment.

15172  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want bitcoins. on: July 22, 2015, 07:20:06 PM
I voted for buying bitcoins because obviously that is the easiest method there is in acquiring bitcoin. You just buy from a local exchange/another user then after the transaction, you'll receive the coins. That's it, no hassles of some sort. I suggest you use localbitcoins.com to see whether there is a seller that is willing to sell his/her bitcoins. Just remember, perform the trade on a place where there are people around and there is a security ready to aid you in case shit happens.
15173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anonymity for sending Bitcoin on: July 22, 2015, 07:17:00 PM
I have to send money to someone using BitCoin and I want to remain fully anonymous to the recipient and to the public.

I have read a little about this subject and I've read that all transactions are public. So my questions are:

1. What information can be known to (1) the recipient, and to (2) the public?

2. I do not want my real name, address, email or phone number known to anyone (recipient and the public).
I am fine with anyone knowing the amount of the transaction.

So how can I stay as anonymous as possible? I want to jump through as little hoops as possible.

1. The only thing that the network will know is your bitcoin address and the receiver's bitcoin address.
2. There are no personal credentials attached when creating a bitcoin transaction all over the network. That is the advantage of bitcoin against the traditional wire transfer and money transfer services. Also, the transaction will get through within an hour (or most of the time, <30 minutes) and will be confirmed by the network to be available on spending.

Lol I more concerned about posting 20 per 15 minutes, really?

Also the altcoin trading interest me, but I kinda knew about altcoi trading (not altcoin holding). Anyone got a better ang lightweight trading sites?

What kind of "lightweight" trading sites? The one that you could access on your phone? In trading, you should consider the trading volume occurring within a single day. The trading volume dictates the liquidity or how fast does the bitcoins on that certain exchange revolves.
15176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If a Bitcoin wallet no longer works will i lose my bitcoins ? on: July 22, 2015, 06:56:04 PM
You can still import the private keys and the wallet.dat file to another wallet that supports such action. If a wallet just "stopped working" or "isn't working" anymore, you can still save the wallet's data, especially the wallet.dat and private keys and just import it to a new wallet.
15177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Multi-signature really means & are they less safe ?? on: July 22, 2015, 06:54:10 PM
A multi-signature address is a special address in which you need 2 out of 3 priv keys before you can create a transaction with that address. With that said, any user who has control of a single key wouldn't be able to spend the balance on that certain address--that user needs another private keys to create a transaction. A multi-signature address is a safe way of keeping your balance. Just make sure that the private keys are separated so in case an attack occurs, you are able to still keep those precious btc's intact if ever the attacker only acquired one out of three keys.
