15261  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is the new bitcoin forum any good? on: October 12, 2015, 07:39:47 AM
And for that forum I think for design its better from btt, because its more modern from btt which are outdated. Tongue
I dare you to say that again in 2016.
The design is not a big deal. Other things are more important such as security and privacy. As I've previously stated there are trackers on that forum (detected by extension). There are none here.
15262  Other / Meta / Re: People digging old threads for their crappy posts. on: October 12, 2015, 06:52:55 AM
It really depends on the situation. If they bring up a old one but make a relevant and really constructive post the it is okay. However, if they dig it up without a good reason it is likely going to be deleted.
15263  Other / Off-topic / Re: Suggestion for tablet.. which brand is best ..??? on: October 11, 2015, 08:20:09 PM
I think that Asus and Dell are good laptop/computer brands.
That is not even related to this. If they make good laptops and/or computers(or parts) that does not mean that they make good tablets too.

I see lot of recommendations. Basically u need to calculate how much money u plan to spend on tablet. Better things cost more, but u can buy some nice tablet with normal money it will not be iPad, Samsung.. lenovo is ok my sister have it over a year, and i use Asus 7 over 2 years. U have other ones not so expensive also.
If one does not plan to use it to play heavy games then the right table in the medium price range will be excellent for the person. Going overkill just because one can is never the right answer.
15264  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm seriously contemplating suicide, why am I telling you lot this? on: October 11, 2015, 08:05:05 PM
I could almost say that suicide is never the answer. Some people always have it worse. While I can not understand the pain that you're feeling too, anything chronic is a huge burden. Even having something that persists for a few weeks can be very annoying and it interferes with your life.
Have you considered surgery? I've read something long ago about blocking the trigeminal nerve. Not sure how effective that is.
15265  Other / Meta / Re: Just remove signatures already. As in delete, disable, gone. on: October 11, 2015, 04:30:32 PM
But marcotheminer has exposed a logical point of view, if a lot of signature campaign will be banned the number of visits and posts will decrease (automatically). However, I don't think the most important thing here is the internal forum ads revenue.
Which is of pretty low importance. The number of anything (most cases) is useless if it is of very low quality. BTCT should be a place of full of excellent discussions, not a place full of random posts. From this viewpoint, the quality of content on BTCT has heavily degraded over time because of various reasons.
15266  Other / Meta / Re: Just remove signatures already. As in delete, disable, gone. on: October 11, 2015, 04:22:32 PM
I completely agree and I've said the same thing in the past.

Signature campaigns lead to more ad views which translates into more revenue for theymos. Ban the signature campaigns and views (aswell as posts) will drop (undoubtably by a huge amount) and ad revenue will suffer.
So the most important thing here is profit? When did this forum become a corporation?

Another alternative, keep signatures and ban signature campaigns with strict punishments if someone does deals in private.
15267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Academic researchers seeking Bitcoin users for survey on: October 11, 2015, 03:03:09 PM
This survey was really long and it took a while to answer it. However, what I dislike was the first page. I didn't really want a survey related to any political, social or other issues (e.g. are you a feminist). I think that I also saw a error, it said something in the lines of "I spend half of my cryptocurrencies and spend the other half". I'm not sure though. Completed it but did not leave my email for obvious reasons.

With all the scams going on, I'd feel iffy clicking random links and taking surveys in the name of "research".
Not exactly random.
15268  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don't you wish you never had any alcohol? on: October 11, 2015, 11:03:56 AM
When i was young i never understand why people keeps on drinkng alcohol even after it all they just ended up like a crazy and a helpless person that dont have any idea what they are doing.
Obviously there a short term benefits while you drink (e.g. you don't worry about things). It gets to the described phase only if you are completely smashed.
15269  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is the new bitcoin forum any good? on: October 11, 2015, 10:42:18 AM
No. There are several reasons for this and I will not list them at the moment. They've pretty much just copied Bitcointalk (i.e. the sections). Compared to this place, that one is not worth my time.

because of the valuable domain (bitcoin.com) and some high profile backers i guess it will gain alot traction in the next years.
keep in mind that the 2 main news sources (bitcointalk + reddit) are controlled by the same young guy. that cant be a good thing.
so it is good to have an alternative.

Not biased at all.  Roll Eyes

That's another bad thing. Random people getting high positions in a quick matter, and yet you say that bitcointalk can't be good because it's controlled by a "young guy". This young guy has more experience operating a forum (even though I disagree with him on some points) than everyone in the other place combined (judging from a quick look; didn't do a in depth research).

Instead of permitting free discussion on XT - he tried to eliminate discussions on that.
Didn't happen on BTCT. Stop hijacking the thread.

Note: Privacy badger found a handful of trackers on that forum, but that is none of my business.
15270  Other / Off-topic / Re: Time for a CPU upgrade, is 2011 worth it? on: October 11, 2015, 10:01:44 AM
Obviously the i3 isn't enough these days. It was never designed for gaming though, more like a low end CPU. I don't see why you would need to upgrade to a i7. You can do the same if not more with the right i5 and right cooling. Since you want to play games I'd suggest maybe i5 4th generation. Intel Core i5-4690K ; not even expensive at $235.

i want to play Fallout4 and some other games in high quality
Yes, with a single GPU. That works in standard resolutions (e.g. HD, FHD).
15271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dorian Nakamoto giving AMA on Reddit on: October 11, 2015, 09:48:33 AM
the photo 'proof' was photoshopped
That possible but it doesn't have to be so necessarily. I've linked to the picture because people don't have a habit of opening links here. It would be nice if he was actually giving legit input though.

Are we could go a level higher.  What if it was Satoshi pretending to be Dorian pretending to be Satoshi pretending to be Dorian?
Whatever keeps the thread alive right? Looks like such speculations are going to persist.
15272  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Breaking News! European Refugee Crisis Resolved! on: October 11, 2015, 01:55:44 AM
I've actually seen a sign that said 'no human is illegal' and I disagree with it. The countries and their borders are there for a reason. If I had to work my way to get where I'm right now then so should everyone else. I also do not feel like I should be paying a high tax rate just so that the country could waste money on such people either.
15273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: quantum computer is here. and now? on: October 10, 2015, 06:50:00 PM
Two problems:
1) Quantum computers are not here. Even if they were, in this stage it is pretty much useless.
2) Still can't break SHA256.

The researchers have worked out how to design using this method from 2 qubits to hundreds and 'potentially millions'. This does not mean that they've done it.
15274  Other / Meta / Re: STOP SUPPORTING CRIMINALS AND SCAMMERS on: October 10, 2015, 06:29:57 PM
I doubt that it is the forums job to babysit you while you try to conduct trades with random strangers that are hidden under a pseudonym or while you invest/use/install random coins that end up being a pump and dump/virus/etc. If you get scammed online I could say that in most cases it is your own fault. I've been here for longer than 2 years and I have never had this problem. The forum's policy is what it is and it is okay for now.

Arguably, a Bitcoin discussion forum could do without gambling, ponzi promotion, selling of warez and stolen gift cards, hacked/farmed bitcointalk accounts, etc., etc.
Just spitballing here...
Gambling is okay. 'Digital goods' != warez and stolen gift cards. Even if selling accounts was against the rules, there's no way to properly enforce that (e.g. trades via PM).
15275  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you allow smoking cigarettes or are you anti-tobacco? on: October 10, 2015, 05:22:05 PM
Do you allow smoking cigarettes or are you anti-tobacco?
I allow , but not in my house, everybody in his own house can do whatever he wants.
Yeah, the smell of the smoke can be very annoying. Since I've switched to vaping, some smoke really smells to me and I tell the people I'm with to blow it in the other side. It's best if non smokers do not allow smoking in their houses as this also damages them. If someone wants to smoke they can go outside and come back in when done, right?
15276  Other / Meta / Re: Why was this deleted? on: October 10, 2015, 02:05:51 PM
Tangent: In light of this, do you honestly blame me for [mistakenly] assuming selective enforcement after having [one of the TWO consecutive] posts deleted?
There is no selective enforcement of rules. I'm waiting for admins to completely clarify this before I handle. Nobody (that I've talked to) is 100% sure at the moment. This is why I said that your thread will remain untouched (for now). Just be patient please.
It is difficult to talk to them as they're very busy most of the time.
15277  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Ocigledno... on: October 10, 2015, 09:39:24 AM
http://coinatmradar.com/countries/
Čak štoviše ATM-ovi me ne zanimaju ni sekunde.

Smiley
15278  Other / Meta / Re: Why was this deleted? on: October 10, 2015, 09:37:56 AM
Must admit tho, I'm at a loss.  You've deleted my post, from my thread, allegedly for 'bumping' -- posting twice in a row. Clearly, doing so was within your scope.
And yet you claim to be powerless to deal with a user, on the same sub, who posts 17 screencaps in a row? Can you hint at just how a thing like that is possible?
I'm a patroller. This means that I can not moderate users that have a rank higher than newbie (except in my local section). This is why I said that it is not within my 'jurisdiction'.

I think what you fail to grasp is that there are no hard rules. If Lauda thinks (or thought, mods are people and may change their mind) the post in question is a violation of the given rule they can act accordingly. That does not imply that every other mod has to act in the same way.
This is exactly what I've been trying to say. Different mods handle a lot of stuff differently around here (users are usually not aware of this).

@Quickseller: theymos clarified on IRC that it is not just the marketplace. As previously said I will not quote unless given permission to.

She is powerless to do something as she is only a patroller and she can only delete/nuke a newbie member, and the person you have quoted is not a newbie.
Who is a "she"? I'm a 'he'.  Angry
15279  Other / New forum software / Re: FR: (notify + enabled) --> unnotify (priority: low) on: October 09, 2015, 08:05:29 PM
You should move this to the right board.
15280  Other / New forum software / Re: Bitcointalk needs to have an upvote button on comments. on: October 09, 2015, 07:57:47 PM
That is prone to abuse if we let users of low ranks upvote.
As long as there is no option to downvote it couldn't hurt if it was properly implemented.
