15361  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question about Android/Samsung Grand Prime phone on: October 02, 2015, 09:49:02 AM
I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was part of the "Bitcoin" subsection, I just read the "Technical support" part and came here from a search regarding Android inquiries
I reported it and it was moved, so you're fine now. So how about you look at B now. If we were to try and maybe help you we need more information regarding a lot of things. Keep in mind that what I said previously still stands. if you have manually deleted the file yourself, the chances of recovery are very slim.
15362  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Breaking News! European Refugee Crisis Resolved! on: October 02, 2015, 09:20:57 AM
No, this happens when you have a lot of people in a small space
So 500 students in the same room waiting for classes and this happens? There are a lot of examples in civilized nations where it is very crowded at times and yet nobody engages in a 200 man brawl. There are time where the metro is really full and people are pushing your constantly (unintentionally though). Should I start a brawl to resolve the problem? Please don't talk nonsense. Civilized people should not engage in any brawls (only in extreme and unavoidable cases) not to mention some group brawls. Nobody should support a influx of illegal people and false acceptance.

This is actually a very good video and everyone should watch it before you start supporting the stupid policy of accepting so many people.
15363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gemini Exchange Moves Toward Launch With Twin NYDFS Approvals on: October 02, 2015, 09:08:56 AM
Is it just me, or is this whole Gemini / Bitcoin ETF thing taking FORRREVVEERRR...

It has literally been YEARS.
Is this the normal amount of time that someone needs to spend getting 'regulated' in the US ? Are are the twins just making it take ages.. ?
It is taking a very long time indeed. However, if it launches properly and it is fully regulated then we can expect Bitcoin to take off. Essentially ETFs take a good amount of time to get created, however this is taking a bit more. The first time that the ETF was mentioned was 2-3 years ago I believe.

What happened to the Land of the Free.. (To do whatever you can, as long as we say you can )
Anyone that still believes that the US is 'the land of the free' is deluded.

This is actually very good news even though this does not mean that Gemini is ready to be used by customers. We will have to wait a while longer, so I'm hoping that we see results in the first quarters of 2016.

Looks like things have been quiet this month. We have done our best to subdue the 'Bitcoin ponzi' troll and others very nicely this month.

So, Ubuntu it is. This thing is ultra stable, utilizes both screens via thunderbolt (have the laptop monitor plus a 32" LG one for my presentations & calcs) and I think we have a winner.
Bye bye OSX.
Ah you're using a Macbook. I've used Ubuntu back while it was at version ~12. It is quite good indeed. However, I fear that we would be drifting away from the original topic if we continue.
15365  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Breaking News! European Refugee Crisis Resolved! on: October 01, 2015, 08:12:15 PM
And here comes the new record!!! (Only to be breached the next month)
There is more new about the refugees. Over 200 asylum seekers clash in German refugee center. Apparently this is the third such incident this week only. This is what happens when you let in people who are violent and not used to living in a civilized nation.
15366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NASA has found water on MARS!! on: October 01, 2015, 08:03:03 PM
that there are someone or anyone can live in there?
lolz.. i dont think that this news is really a great progress for them.
and i hope they can do better than it.
I did not have time to pitch in here before. Are you saying that this discovery is not of importance? Actually this is very important. While this wouldn't dramatically change the way that we understand Mars today, this gives us new hopes that there is life on Mars today. Liquid water is important because of the potential for life. All life on Earth requires water to survive (or almost all). This also makes the search for life easier than previously though and it might push the agency towards more missions on Mars.

You just never know.  Someone stated that if there is life there that it came from mars.   Yet no one really knows for sure.  Whos to say our life didnt come from there.
Absence of evidence is evidence? One can look at it like that as well.
15367  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question about Android/Samsung Grand Prime phone on: October 01, 2015, 07:36:47 PM
How is this related to Bitcoin? It is not. What are you talking about, it records calls by default or what? That's unusual behavior for a phone. However, if you have deleted the file the chances are very slim to recover it.
Three things:
A) You're in the wrong forum.
B) You need to provide more details.
C) Look at A again.
15368  Other / Off-topic / Re: A new NSA proof online messenger (AES-256, RSA 2048) on: October 01, 2015, 07:31:06 PM
Protonmail is for emails. But their server capacity is full and you just cant use it. It also needs your previous email so they want your identity.
You're correct about this not being comparable, however you're wrong about everything else. You can sign up for protonmail and you get a invite pretty quickly. Also, nobody is forcing you to use a real email address. They are not asking nor do they want your identity. The email is only there in case you forgot your login password, the auth password can't be recovered.

Is it open-sourced?
I'm not touching it without the source code. So the question remains.

Update: I had not thought that the link was the source code, sorry.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. You're the 19th person to achieve that on this forum.  Smiley
15370  Other / New forum software / Re: so when is it coming? the new forum? on: October 01, 2015, 04:34:50 PM
Also, is it even confirmed that we'll get to see the forum next year?
No. There was never a exact date and most likely never will be one. Maybe once they are certain 100% they might announce it a few days prior to release. Anyhow, the official statement was after February 2015. Next year is still within that time frame.

If it ain't broke, why fix?
SMF is broken (technically not always but still). Theymos patched up a ton of stuff and occasionally more exploits come up (e.g. recently people with 'invisible characters' in their name).
15371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent upsurge in BIP101 blocks! on: October 01, 2015, 03:26:24 PM
7 blocks is what you call a upsurge? I thought that the definition was something in the lines of 'rapid rise'. This is barely noticeable. No, I'm not trying to start a fight here. Looks like the blocks are found by P2Pool.org (blocktrail used as source). However, it seems that BIP100 is still very strong at above 60%. Interestingly some miners are still sticking with the 8 MB option even though there has been little or no talk about it in the recent times.
15372  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you see yourself in 5 years? on: October 01, 2015, 01:56:23 PM
I think that the proper question would be 'Where do you see yourself in 5 years'?. This is actually a very good question and somewhat tough to answer. Obviously most of us would want to see us become rich or something. The reality is much different though. There is only a single serious reply to this so far. I'd like Bitcoin to become even more widely accepted by 2020 so that I can use it everyday (at least once). As far as myself goes, I'd hope of attaining a IT certificate of some kind and getting a stable job in a good company.

bitcoin stored with the value of 5000 dollars each.
There's only a handful of people that would not want that.
15373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fermi Paradox on: October 01, 2015, 01:39:28 PM
There's a much better video about this. It's actually quite a interesting paradox. However, does anyone really believe that IF we have made contact (e.g. yesterday), that the government would just publicly announce it? It would be pretty unreasonable to think that we're the only and/or first planet with intelligent life. Humanity, as far as development goes, has still not achieved much. We are not even a Type 1 civilization! If we were a Type 2 civilization then we might be able to actually really look for aliens somewhere. Maybe there is intelligent life somewhere, but not just developed as we are (think 16-17th century) and they can not receive/answer our messages. There are just so many options. If humanity was actually spending money in R&D instead of wasting it building more and more weapons, we could speed up our development.
15374  Other / Meta / Re: Question: Why do people leave me red trust? on: October 01, 2015, 10:01:44 AM
I do not see why you should worry. This is what I see:

Trading accounts is not recommended. Default trust works in a way where if a person thinks that you deserve a negative for any reason whatsoever then they can leave it. The system is what it is and there have been no better suggestions so far. Ratings from users that are not in Depth 1 or Depth 2 are not shown by default and thus trolls can't do much in such a system. You only have one neutral trust (from my point on view) from KWH, that's it. Essentially you're fine for now.
15375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hearn Banned from #Bitcoin-dev on: October 01, 2015, 09:07:25 AM
This is just a wall of text, too long to read at the moment. Can you post a tl;dr for why he was banned? Did he deserve it?
15376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: October 01, 2015, 08:51:12 AM
I have stumbled upon something recently that got my interest. It is said (in some religions) that 'God' created everything in 7 days. These are also called 'the day of creation'. I do understand that this should not be literally translated/understood. However, if time is a measurement that humans made up (days - we did), then how would this even be possible?

This is my god word - there is no afterlife.  I make you once and if you are stupid enough to die, oh well.
This actually makes more sense. I'm pretty sure that religions (i.e. promising afterlife) have so many followers due to the fear of death, the fear of nothingness. Most do not like thinking about death at all.

Update:
It would be stupid if someone really thinks that the creation took
Only 7 earth days. Im sure many people misinterpreted the other
Words in th bible making it more exagerated.
This is not my interpretation. This is the interpretation that Christians are being taught.
15377  Other / Meta / Re: Question about reporting posts. on: September 30, 2015, 02:13:34 PM
Here's a friendly advice and a example of how I've been reporting threads in the wrong section (when I'm unsure where they should be). Let's say a thread was made in Meta.
I report the thread with the comment:" This should not be in Meta (move to appropriate section)". I don't think that I ever got one of those marked as bad. The trick is properly writing out the comment and you're good to go.

Depends on the mod, most will probably mark it as good because you noticed that a thread is in the wrong section. Its hard to tell since I write many reports and my percentage does not change, but I see some threads I reported go to a different section and I think I would notice bad reports.
Correct. I've seen people sometimes report a post stating "off topic" even though it was spam or vice verse (just one of many examples). I usually mark them as good.

Can you get banned or in problems if you report a lot of posts and you are wrong, like having a 10% accuracy with 100 posts reported.
I don't think so, no. I'd say that it would be very hard to get such a low accuracy without intentionally spamming with bad reports. My accuracy was always very high even before I completely understood the forum rules. If you are not good at reporting (under 50%), then just stop doing it. No harm can come from that.
15378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT - Officially #REKT (also goes for BIP101 fraud) on: September 30, 2015, 06:59:38 AM
Well I can't call this a surprise even though I had called for a cease of fire. I just can not understand why someone would listen to or support a person who is talking about a takeover of Bitcoin? This should be considered a hostile takeover. XT is just full of controversy.
However, we should shift the focus away from it towards the nexy workshop and 2016. Most of the times when I randomly check the blocks, none of the last few are close to 1 MB (i.e. we are fine for now).
15379  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which superhero power would you most like to possess ? on: September 28, 2015, 10:42:55 PM
time manipulation
This pretty much beats most of the powers. This is different from time travel even though it includes it. If time manipulation gives you the ability to stop/reverse/forward time for a certain object/area then this would be the ultimate power. You could make yourself live forever and would probably be considered 'immortal' since you could stop time and get away or just travel back/forward. Essentially you could attain all the wealth and possibly knowledge of this world/future world. One could also create his own dimension easily in which he'd be the supreme ruler.  It would not be hard (in my opinion). You go into the future XXX of years and get the technology from there. Go back to the past and start a life there and build all of it. This way you'd be changing the whole timeline and it would probably split into a new one.

Tl;dr: I would also like to posses time manipulation.
15380  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Breaking News! European Refugee Crisis Resolved! on: September 28, 2015, 04:34:55 PM
Actually who cares about what the "False Prophet" rebuffed last time. His approval rate within the church diminishing quickly, in these days only the leftist/liberal media keep celebrating him. (Mass media is a good compass, if they like something then it's better to avoid that "something".)
Well obviously average people are going to care and Christians. Vatican needs to shut up unless they are doing something right now, which they are not. If I was the head of a country I would not let people push me into doing the wrong thing (i.e. letting a lot of them get in). If they do keep letting random people in, then I'll most likely move my expertise somewhere else as soon as this is possible. People who are not experiencing this first hand have no real idea what's going on.
I have a friend in Italy. She's a woman and quite small (~152). Since the surge of refugees from Africa the crime and rape incidents have increased. She does not feel safe when she's alone anymore at all! Similar stuff is going to happen in every country that accepts random people from down there (who knows how many criminals have entered/will enter). Why would anyone normal want to live in a hostile environment?
