First, you need to set your selling target, and if it has reached, its your first safe point and think again for your next step.
If it has been sold, don not regret when the price is going high from last you have sold it, and if it not sold yet, you need to be more patient while check your targets sold were too high or market turning back from your target because some big issue.

I still believe in ETH, ADA, BNB and some top ten alts like CHZ and MATIC.
Sadly i was exit from BNB when it was 200$ before its pumping to 700$ couple last months, but its okay, im still have bit BNB in my wallet.

Why not ? Elon must be capable with his power on it and he is famous, and remember, cryptos related with trend and issue, so if he create his own alts, it must be boom with 70% probability, IMHO.
But we must aware if enter his game, Elon is a market maker as we see from what his doing with doge and shiba lately, so if you know and understand what will be his next move, you will be rich with him.

Being both of options is really profitable, but you will need two basic knowledge and skills for that and it is difficult for me. As daily trader i must take opportunity fast without thinking over about it, i am selling and just sell it without no regret, and if im transform to be holder, i think i will dizzy consider this is worth or not.
So being daily trader still make me comfy until now, maybe along with time, ill be holder a bit as my investment.

Do deep research to prevent you from scam project is a must, and dont be rush to buy and make investment, think twice when you decide to make it as long term investment, i am a trader, not hodler, so im entry near big waves come and exit while the waves at the top is my way to take profit.
Regarding OP asking what alts are safe to investment, ill say no alts are safe for it, its depends on what the trend, as example, no one knows what will happened to BNB if the gas price from ERC20 not increase like crazy like couple months last, and Binance make BSC with cheap gas price with BNB as payment, and boom, BNB skyrocket today, that is what i mean alts depend on trend.

If you wanna keep coins for 5 years, its mean long investment, you should choose big coins such as BTC, ETH (both is a must) and any big coin like BNB by binance or TRX by Tron network i suggest.
Why TRX ? Tron have survived since he was born until now, at top 10 almost 4 years, and nowadays, many NFT have bridge on Tron network, also have speed of transaction with small fee, so for next 5 years, TRX will be good, maybe the next BNB is Tron, IMHO
