1541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need Urgent Help To Recover My Old Lost Wallet on: August 22, 2023, 04:16:19 AM
could i use my exact device entropy details that was used to generate the private key through bitcoin core in 2011 or 2012
No. The entropy your device generates should not be deterministic for you to reproduce it if you could find some "specs" otherwise it would not be safe to begin with.

THIS IS NOT TRUE! if on btc address are spent transactions , and you have remaining of the WIF  characters, you can solve very quickly.
I have tested:) I can help
Then why aren't you "quickly" solving the famous puzzle to claim the reward? The search space for the key there is smaller than the search space OP has.
1542  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin will be $173,566 before November, 2025 on: August 20, 2023, 05:07:45 PM
That's such a specific number in such a long time frame Cheesy
By the way with the bottom in 2022 being $15470-ish the 10.21x of it would be $157,948 (that is because in math for example 2x increase is 100% increase not 200%) Wink
1543  Economy / Speculation / Re: How passionate are you buying Bitcoin now? on: August 20, 2023, 04:13:56 PM
Well this is a dip and it is usually a good idea to buy in the dips and I always try to buy some sats if I have some extra funds to spare which I don't right now.
As for "how passionate I am" these days, I have to say not a lot because I still believe that the ongoing global recession is affecting the bitcoin price and will continue to exist as a sell pressure preventing the rises. On top of that we have an increased amount of market manipulation and FUD once again preventing rises and creating artificial sell pressure.

~ I am not buying with 'spare money' as some people will call it... that concept of spare money does not really resonate with me as every penny I have is very important to me now.
In that case maybe it is time to find a way to get some "spare money". It could be some additional work you do like freelance on the internet or it could be selling some old stuff from the storage that you don't need or use like an old laptop for example to get some extra funds to buy bitcoin with.
1544  Economy / Economics / Re: Turkey lira was close to devaluation now russian currency on: August 20, 2023, 03:45:13 PM
That makes no sense whatsoever!
For starters it's the law of supply and demand, when they print fiat nonstop, it dumps in value and in the past couple of years (starting from COVID in 2020) Turkey has been printing a ton of money to keep the economy afloat but at the cost of significantly increasing the inflation and devaluation of Lira. From 1 USD being 5 Lira in 2020 to today's 27 which is a 440% rise (or devaluation of Lira).
This has practically ruined Turkish economy.

Secondly what you explained about intentionally decreasing the exchange rate (like what China does) ONLY makes sense for countries that export and need to stay competitive not for a country like Turkey that heavily depends on imports. In other words when the national currency dumps, it becomes more expensive to import anything.
Specifically Turkish military complex heavily depends on imports whether importing arms like air defense or fighter jets which they buy as a whole, or importing parts to be used in manufacturing arms like in their drone industry. Having a weak fiat makes it extremely hard and super expensive!

Now when you compare that with another Country like Russia you are forgetting that Russia doesn't rely on imports as much as Turkey does specially in arms, parts and most importantly energy.
Even the currency devaluation is not even close to being the same 440% compared to 50% (dollar rise against Lira and Ruble).

Turkey been keeping rates low in order to invest in military and now turkey is one of most powerful country in Europe.
It is the most powerful military in "Europe" but it is at best a mediocre military globally considering how Turkey has only lost any battle they entered over the past couple of decades and are still stuck in Syria and Iraq being bombed into oblivion by militia Smiley
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What are segwit's benefits and overall goals? on: August 20, 2023, 03:20:22 PM
The main aim of segwit was to actually increase the transaction speed
Technically transaction confirmation speed depends on the block intervals which is not changed by SegWit. What you meant to say is that SegWit increased the block capacity which then helped reduce mempool congestion hence emptying up the mempool helping txs not get stuck for long waiting for confirmation.

~
are you sure about this? from what I remember, the hash-wrapped version of segwit and the bech32 encoded version (i.e. native) have different sizes as inputs and as outputs when compared to each other, as well as those measurements being different to those of the previous standard (compressed-key P2PKH), and that's also in terms of literal bytes, not just the witness-discounted (i.e. "virtual") bytes.
In raw bytes the SegWit transactions have the potential to be slightly bigger because we are adding extra bytes to the transactions containing witnesses.
If we compare a transaction spending P2PKH with P2WPKH the later has 3 extra bytes (assuming signature and public key sizes are the same):
- 2 bytes for the flag (0x0001)
- 1 byte for the witness count (0x02)

If we compare P2PKH with P2SH-P2WPKH (wrapped) then there is another additional size which is the redeem script and it is extra 22 bytes (25 bytes bigger in total).

If we only compare outputs, then a P2PKH output script is 25 bytes while P2WPKH is 22 bytes.
This means the net total size of creating P2WPKH and spending them (3 bytes less output, 3 extra input bytes) is zero. Tongue
1546  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Does Electrum use Libbitcoin ? on: August 20, 2023, 08:35:02 AM
  • OpenBazaar is a decentralized crypto marketplace. Its website says a new version is coming soon.
The activity on this whole project looks very disappointing so I don't think they'll even notice if there is a problem specially since nobody reported anything on their repository. Although skimming through the code quickly I believe they only used libbitcoin for communication as server/client thing not for key generation.

1547  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: August 20, 2023, 08:26:35 AM
There is no evidence of ChipMixer being a honeypot. The Justice department page just says they've taken it down. No data leaks as far as we can tell.

You are wrong again:

https://www.europol.europa.eu/media-press/newsroom/news/one-of-darkwebs-largest-cryptocurrency-laundromats-washed-out

Quote from: Europol
On 15 March, national authorities took down the infrastructure of the platform for its alleged involvement in money laundering activities and seized four servers, about 1909.4 Bitcoins in 55 transactions (approx. EUR 44.2 million) and 7 TB of data.
The entire bitcoin blockchain storing all bitcoin transactions that have ever taken place is barely half a TB, how can database of a mixer that stores a tiny fraction of that plus any possible additional data (like keys, chips, IPs, etc which are all tiny data) be 14 times bigger than the entire blockchain?! Smiley
1548  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What should cryptography library should I use? on: August 20, 2023, 06:57:07 AM
Using general purpose cryptography libraries is usually not a good idea for Bitcoin. They may not behave in a Bitcoin consensus critical way. Try to stick to Bitcoin specific libraries. Since you said C/C++ your work is cut out for you with https://github.com/bitcoin-core/secp256k1 since it is written in C, developed by and is also used by bitcoin core team. In other programming languages you got to find wrappers or write one.
1549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Instead of Gold? on: August 19, 2023, 04:56:17 PM
A lot of the jewelry that women wear is made of gold, so you may have seen them but haven't paid attention.
That is what I said, I have seen the material things use by gold but I have not seen the raw material of Gold. And in that case I can't just choose Gold like that. And gold is not easy to assess like bitcoin that one can use $1 to have it through p2p. The way the businessmen make gold to be over high that the poor man can not have access to it raw material is very bad. Though the process of acquiring it from the ground is hard. But bitcoin mining is also hard yet bitcoin is free for everyone to have and use.
Ah, you are concerned about the purity of what they sell as "gold".
In that case you may find some "official" options that should exist in every country. For example the Central Bank here issues gold coins of different weights and other stuff like that which are guaranteed to have the purity that it states and they are pretty standard in terms of price and exchangeability.
1550  Economy / Economics / Re: The Impact of Russian African Alliance on World Economy on: August 19, 2023, 04:43:00 PM
The Western powers are pushing West African nations to go to war against Niger because they want to reinstall democracy.
Armed conflict is going to be the biggest challenge in front of Africa in the coming year or two. And considering how multiple African nations have expressed their support for Niger, there will either be no war or a much bigger war between multiple nations.
After that if Africa succeeds in kicking the colonizes out, that won't be the end. They should expect Cold War which will be in many forms from subsequent coups to sanctions and foreign made crises trying to destabilize and weaken the newly formed independence.

After all this has always been the strategy of the Western Colonizers! We've experienced our fair share of it over the past century or two in Iran. In fact these days are the anniversary of the 1953 US/UK orchestrated coup to remove the democratically elected prime minister of Iran to give the power back to the dictator of the time!

The good news is that the West is not the same power it once was and the Eastern powers are now revived and some are supporting that independence. On top of that new non-Western international organizations such as BRICS are going to provide the economical strength needed for Africa's independence.
The other good news is that Africa can also use the experience of others that have walked in that path before them and learn from their mistakes.

Why Bitcoin Instead of Gold for you?
Why "instead" and why not both?
In fact the best approach is to have your money split into different "assets" instead of just one, if that's the way you see bitcoin (as an asset). That is called diversification and since bitcoin is the most independent market and is not affected by other markets (it is affected by the economy as a whole though) it makes it an excellent "extra" option to have.

Since when I was born, I have not seen a raw Gold with my naked eyes.
A lot of the jewelry that women wear is made of gold, so you may have seen them but haven't paid attention.
1553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What they used before Blockchain Explorer? on: August 19, 2023, 01:36:56 PM
I think back then it was not even private because you could literally point out the person who made that transaction considering the number of transactions.
A much more important factor is the number of full nodes. I doubt the number of full nodes in first year was even in double digits which means one entity (like a 3 letter agency) could have easily connected to all full nodes and see which one is sending the transaction out for the first time and keep a record of that.

Today that is extremely difficult because the number of full nodes is entering 4 digits and there are loads of privacy improvements that have been made in the P2P protocol.
1554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how many times the same set of private keys can exist within a multisig wallet? on: August 19, 2023, 01:24:42 PM
Code:
PubkeyA OP_CHECKSIGVERIFY OP_1 PubkeyB PubkeyC OP_2 OP_CHECKMULTISIG
That doesn't look standard though.
If this script is used a redeem script (wrapped inside a P2SH or P2WSH output scripts) I don't think there would be any standardness issues since this is pretty straight forward and specially since one of the purposes of introducing script-hash was to let us use more complex scripts that aren't "common".
1555  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to restore wallet on: August 19, 2023, 01:14:26 PM
I forgot whether to use a custom word to expand the seed, and I tried to use an empty custom extension word,
If you have extended your seed phrase with a passphrase and you don't remember that, there's no way to restore your wallet from seed.
There may be a small hope to recover the passphrase since OP seems to say that it is a single word and they may have some clue of what that word is like to create a search space to brute force. The said search space shouldn't be that big.
Also if OP had the wallet file or at least one outgoing transaction from that wallet, public keys can be extracted to be used in the loop for each item in the search space.
1556  Economy / Economics / Re: The Impact of Russian African Alliance on World Economy on: August 18, 2023, 05:28:01 PM
With the establishment of New World Order we entered a new transitional phase where the world experiences significant changes all over. One of these major changes is happening in Africa as many of the African countries are currently kicking the colonizers (ie the Western Bloc) out and are trying to regain their independence.
This means when the Eastern Bloc including Russia is currently at war with the Western Bloc, there will be a lot of such alliances between the East and Africa that is kicking West out. In other words it can not be analyzed as an isolated event, it has to be analyzed in the stream of events taking place around the world.

As for the effects on world economy, it is another step in the transitional phase during which we will experience periods of high volatility. For example France that was stealing a ton of resources from many African countries that have kicked them out is going to experience a lot of resource "supply" problems in the near future which will in turn have a considerable impact on the French economy. Meanwhile as those countries take over their own resources and money they will start seeing economic growth during that time.
1557  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Using Gekko Bot in 2023 on: August 18, 2023, 03:44:48 PM
I'm looking into making my own automated bitcoin trader and Gekko seemed like a good option, but I'm worried about it not being maintained anymore.
If you want to make your own bot then you shouldn't worry about Gekko not being maintained. It used to be a semi popular bot which means most of its bugs should have been found and fixed. The only thing you have to look into is the changes in the exchange APIs that it uses or maybe adding new ones that it doesn't have. But it all comes down to your programming skills.
You can also look through the forks of the project to see if you can get some ideas of what others have changed: https://github.com/askmike/gekko/forks?include=active&page=1&period=2y&sort_by=stargazer_counts

If anyone has any other recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

1558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potentially miners attack? on: August 18, 2023, 03:27:39 PM
block has over 5k tx
imagining it made 5000 tx of 294sat is less than $400
block reward of 6.25= $163,000
seems the pool still made money
As I pointed out above the pool doesn't receive the block reward+fee, the miners do. The pool itself only take a percentage for the service they provide. That means if the pool had indeed paid $400 in spam fees, they have indeed lost money.
1559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What they used before Blockchain Explorer? on: August 18, 2023, 01:39:58 PM
That's mean before 2010 Bitcoin was a privacy coin, but it's become pseudonymous after Bitcoin explorer is existing.
Having a block explorer doesn't really change much about the level of privacy that bitcoin offers. Not to mention that before 2010 there weren't that many transactions to go through using your own full node, you can even check all of them manually if you skip the coinbase transactions since there are only a little higher than 200 of them in first year: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transactions?s=time(asc)&q=time(2009-01-03..2010-01-01),is_coinbase(false)#f=block_id,time,is_coinbase
1560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Potentially miners attack? on: August 18, 2023, 12:50:53 PM
Although the possibility of mining pools spamming the network is not zero but it is not that common because the mining pool doesn't receive the fees even if they don't let the rest of the network see the spam transactions and mine them all themselves. The fee is paid to the miners based on their share of the hashrate. In other words this is a very costly attack for the pool.

BTW you can't just find spam by looking at the raw fee in dollar paid by transactions. Actual blockchain analysis is needed.
